    I have a classified_id variable which matches one document in a MySql table. I am currently fetching the information about that one record like this: SELECT * FROM table WHERE table.classified_id = $classified_id I wonder if there is a faster approach, for example like this: SELECT 1 FROM table WHERE table.classified_id = $classified_id Wont the last one only select 1 record, which is exactly what I need, so that it doesn't have to scan the entire table but instead stops searching for records after 1 is found? Or am I dreaming this? Thanks

  • Why doesn't functools.partial return a real function (and how to create one that does)?

    So I was playing around with currying functions in Python and one of the things that I noticed was that functools.partial returns a partial object rather than an actual function. One of the things that annoyed me about this was that if I did something along the lines of: five = partial(len, 'hello') five('something') then we get TypeError: len() takes exactly 1 argument (2 given) but what I want to happen is TypeError: five() takes no arguments (1 given) Is there a clean way to make it work like this? I wrote a workaround, but it's too hacky for my taste (doesn't work yet for functions with varargs): def mypartial(f, *args): argcount = f.func_code.co_argcount - len(args) params = ''.join('a' + str(i) + ',' for i in xrange(argcount)) code = ''' def func(f, args): def %s(%s): return f(*(args+(%s))) return %s ''' % (f.func_name, params, params, f.func_name) exec code in locals() return func(f, args)

    My intention is to end up with a compiler command line including -DOEM="FOO BAR" I have the following in my SConstruct file: opts = Options( 'overrides.py', ARGUMENTS ) opts.Add( 'OEM_NAME', 'Any string can be used here', 'UNDEFINED' ) . . . if (env.Dictionary('OEM_NAME') != 'UNDEFINED'): OEM_DEFINE = 'OEM=' + str(env.Dictionary('OEM_NAME')) env.Append( CPPDEFINES=[ OEM_DEFINE ] ) Then I put the following in the "overrides.py" file: OEM_NAME = "FOO BAR" I seem to end up with "-DOEM=FOO BAR" in the command line that gets generated.     I am working on a drupal 6.x module which consists of several page as defined in the .module page. The problem is that when I visit those pages as admin, I get access denied. I thought that admin (user 1) could access anything? Here the code for some of the pages: function foobar_menu() { $items['admin/foobar'] = array( 'title' => 'administer foobar', 'page callback' => 'foobarpage', ); $items['admin/foobar/baz'] = array( 'title' => 'Do baz', 'page callback' => 'drupal_get_form', 'page arguments' =>array('foobarpage'), ); So how do I make sure that only admin can see these pages and the rest get a "page does not exists" error?

  • Maven release prepare without prompts?

    I want to automate the execution of Maven release:prepare with Perl so that the user doesn't have to answer the prompts for version names etc. Are there a -D arguments that can be supplied so that no prompting is done? I tried the obvious solution which is to feed the prompt answers to mvn via perl code like this: my $cmd = qq(mvn release:prepare -DautoVersionSubmodules=true-DpreparationGoals="clean install"); open MVN, "| $cmd"; print MVN "\n"; # default print MVN "$cur_version"; print MVN "\n"; print MVN "$next_version"; print MVN "\n"; close MVN; but mvn ignores such input and winds up using the defaults (and doesn't prompt either). So, are there -D args for the release:prepare plugin:goal? Thanks.

  • Is there any way to retrieve a float from a varargs function's parameters?

    If the function was defined with a prototype which explicitly stated the types of the parameters, eg. void somefunc(int arg1, float arg2); but is implemented as void somefunc(int arg1, ...) { ... } is it possible to use va_arg to retrieve a float? It's normally prevented from doing this because varargs functions have implicit type promotions, like float to double, so trying to retrieve an unpromoted type is unsupported, even though the function is being called with the unpromoted type do to the more specific function prototype. The reason for this is to retrieve arguments of different types at runtime, as part of an obj-c interpreter, where one function will be reused for all different types of methods. This would be best as architecture independent (so that if nothing else the same code works on simulator and on device), although if there is no way to do this then device specific fixes will be accepted.

I use ByteArrayDataSource (byte[] bytes, String type) constructor, where I get bytes like this: String str = "test"; byte[] bytes = str.getBytes(); Would that be str.length() in bytes?     Hello! I'd like to get the main image for an article, much like Facebook does when you post a link (but without the choosing image part). The data we have to work with is the whole pages HTML as a variable. The page & URL will be different for every time this function runs. Are there any libraries or classes that are particularly good at getting the main body of content, much like Instapaper that would be of any help?

    I'm writing out wave files in Java using AudioInputStream output = new AudioInputStream(new ByteArrayInputStream(rawPCMSamples), new AudioFormat(22000,16,1,true,false), rawPCMSamples.length) AudioSystem.write(output, AudioFileFormat.Type.WAVE, new FileOutputStream('somefile.wav')) And I get what appears to be corrupt wave files on OSX. They won't play from Finder however using the same code behind a servlet writing directly to the response stream and setting the Content-Type to audio/wave seems to play fine in quicktime. What gives?

    So i'm trying to render a template with trimpath in IE8, but when passing the template (a jquery object) there is nothing in it. This all works in chrome,safari,firefox. So to give an example: var $flickrImageGalleryPreviewTemplate =$('#flickr_image_gallery_preview_template',rootel); $flickrImageGalleryPreviewTemplate.length) will result in 0 in IE8 and 1 in FF,Chrome,Safari

  • Can I Call a Child Page From a Master Page?

    My problem is this I have a base page that creates content dynamically. There are buttons on my Master Page that fire events that my base page needs to know about. But the OnLoad function on my base page fires before my Button_Command function on my master page. So I either need to figure out a way to load my base page after the Button_Command function has had the chance to set a variable or I must call a function in my base page from the Button_Command function.
