  • jQuery: How can I check if a block in my document is inside the viewport or outside of it?

    I am basically trying to trigger a function if the footer is inside the viewport. How can I check whether the footer is currently visible in the viewport? I assume I will have to put it into the $(window).scroll() event so that the listener becomes true once the footer becomes visible but what the function should be I just can't figure out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading, Jannis

  • JQuery timer plugin on ASP.NET MVC Page button click

    Hi I have an ASP.NET MVC Page with a button called "Start Live Meeting". When the User clicks on this button, it calls a controller method called "StartLiveMeeting" that returns a string. If the controller returns empty string, then i want the Timer to call the Controller method until it returns the string. I am using jquery.timer.js plugin ( http://plugins.jquery.com/files/jquery.timers-1.2.js.txt ) On the button click, the controller method is being called. But Timer is not initiating. I have specified 5sec to call the controller method. I appreciate your responses. Code on ASPX Page: //When "Start Meeting" button is clicked, if it doesn’t return empty string, Display that text and Stop Timer.   • Icons on CMFCOutlookBar

    I'm using CMFCOutlookBar from the Feature Pack, and I'm trying to put an icon on the "button" of the tabbed pane - the thing that slides up and down in the bar, when you select a pane. The pane API includes a "SetIcon" function, but this doesn't do anything as far as I can tell. Neither does the "SetTabHicon" function of the bar. Does anyone know how to do this?

    I'm a noob with jQuery...and I hope I've explained this well enough; I have a <ul> header that appears when I've added an entry to a dynamically created list using $.post. Each entry added has a delete/edit button associated with it. Header is this: <ul class="header"> <li>Month</li> <li>Year</li> <li>Cottage</li> </ul> My dynamic list that is created: <ul class="addedItems"> <li>Month</li> <li>Year</li> <li>Cottage</li> <li><span class="edit">edit</span></li> <li><span class="del">delete</span></li> </ul> This all looks like this: Month Year Cottage <--this appears after I've added an entry -------------------------------- and I want it to stick around unless all items are deleted. Dec 1990 Fir edit/delete <--entries Jan 2000 Willow edit/delete My question is: Is there some kind of conditional that I can use with jQuery to hide the class="header" if all the items are deleted? I've read up on conditional statements like is and not with jq but I'm not really understanding how they work. All of the items in class="addedItems" is stored in data produced by JSON.     I'm trying to load an external JavaScript using jQuery's getScript(), like this: $.getScript("http://api.recaptcha.net/js/recaptcha_ajax.js", function(data) { window.alert(data); }); but as the alert window shows, the data variable in the callback function is undefined, unlike promised in http://docs.jquery.com/Ajax/jQuery.getScript#urlcallback.   • Replacement for vsscanf on msvc

    Hi, I've run into an issue porting a codebase from linux (gcc) to windows (msvc). It seems like the C99 function vsscanf isn't available and has no obvious replacement. I've read about a solution using the internal function _input_l and linking statically to the crt runtime, but unfortunately I cannot link statically since it would mess with all the plugins (as dlls) being loaded by the application. So is there any replacement or a way to write a wrapper for vsscanf?

  • Prototype JS swallows errors in dom:loaded, and ajax callbacks?

    I can't figure out why prototype suppressess the error messages in the dom:loaded event, and in AJAX handlers. Given the following piece of HTML: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title>Conforming XHTML 1.1 Template</title> <script type="text/javascript" src="prototype.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> document.observe('dom:loaded', function() { console.log('domready'); console.log(idontexist); }); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> The domready event fires, I see the log in the console, but there is no indication of any errors whatsoever. If you move the console.log(idontexist); line out of the handler, you get the idontexist is not defined error in the console. I find it a little weird, that in other event handlers, like 'click', you get the error message, it seems that it's only the dom:loaded that has this problem. The same goes for AJAX handlers: new Ajax.Request('/', { method: 'get', onComplete: function(r) { console.log('xhr complete'); alert(youwontseeme); } }); You won't see any errors. This is with prototype.js 1.6.1, and I can't find any indication of this behavior in the docs, nor a way to enable error reporting in these handlers. I have tried stepping through the code with FireBug's debugger, and it seems to jump to a function on line 53 named K, when it encounters the missing variable in the dom:loaded handler: K: function(x) { return x } But how? Why? When? I can't see any try/catch block there, how does the program flow end up there? I know that I can make the errors visible by packing my dom:ready handler(s) in try/catch blocks, but that's not a very comfortable option. Same goes for registering a global onException handler for the AJAX calls. Why does it even suppress the errors? Did someone encounter this before?

    Trying a bit of AJAX, and I find that much of my data is littered with underscores! Documentation confirms that this is working as intended. Any way to pass my form information to PHP intact? I'm using CodeIgniter, so my pass looks like /controller/function/variable, receiving controller: controller{ function($v=0){#what once was hello world is now hello_world...} } I can't very well do an undo, data might contain an underscore.
