It's a pity that the API seems only to support offsets within the document but no line numbers. • WPF Binding XAML vs C#

  Hello, I've got a strange problem - binding created through XAML (both ways by markup extension or normal) isn't working(BindingOperations.IsDataBound returns false and in fact there is no Binding object created). When I do literally the same from code everything is working perfectly. One more thing is that the Binding in XAML is created in a DataTemplate - what's funny about that when I use the DataTemplate for the first time it fails, then I fix it from code (add binding to specific objects) and while adding more objects to the collection the binding set in XAML just works. If I try to remove all the objects from the collection and then add a new one the binding fails once again. In reality this is a shortened version of another of my questions. • Does XercesC contain an extensive logic of XMLSchema validation?

  Tried to implement a small XML validation tool with XercesC. For some reason I cannot use existing validators right from the box - I need some preprocessing and would like to combine it with validation in a single tool. I used DOM parser and specified DOMErrorHandler. Instead of a set of errors with detailed messages like I saw from xmllint for the same xml and xmlschema files, only one message appeared that document has a wrong structure without details. Probably, I did something wrong. But also assume XercesC doesn't contain xmllint functionality right from the box. Does anybody can give me a hint before I spent too much time? Thanks.

Blackberry's "A70 – How to Deploy and Distribute Applications" document is kind of lacking. I guess I'm looking for answers for the following question (Specifically for Over-The-Air aka OTA): I'm building an app for OS 4.5 and up. Do I need to compile a separate COD/JAD for each version? (i.e. 4.5, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.7, and 5.0) How do I detect OS version from the user-agent? What's the best way to compile COD/JAD files? anything else that might be good to know :) Thanks in advance!

• Best tool to check and ensure PDF/A compatibility under Linux

  I am working on an online portal, where researchers can upload their research papers. One requirement is, that all PDFs are stored in PDF/A-format. As I can't rely on the users to generate PDF/A conforming documents, I need a tool to check and convert standard PDFs into PDF/A format. What is the best tool you know of? Price Quality Speed Available APIs Open-source tools would be prefered, but a search revealed none. iText can create PDF/a, but converting isn't easy to do, as you have to read every page and copy it to a new document, losing all bookmarks and annotations in this process. (At least as far as I know, if you know of an easy solution, let me know). APIs should be available for either PHP, Java or a command-line-tool should be provided. Please do not list either GUI-only or Online-only solutions.

• Js/Jquery bind Datatable or Datalist

  Scenario I have a input box for post codes. When you put in a postcode it makes a call to a web service and gets all the suburb names back and binds them to a list, like an input dropdown list. This works when I return a List<string> from the web service for just the names. No problem. The problem arises when I go to save the values to the db. When it gets saved I cannot save the name of the suburb in the suburb column in the db. I have to save the id of that suburb for the foreign key constraint. So then I changed the List<> thing slighty and cheated and returned the following. <ArrayOfString> <string>8213</string> <string>BROOKFIELD</string> <string>8214</string> <string>CHAPEL HILL</string> <string>8215</string> <string>FIG TREE POCKET</string> etc.... The reason for this is so I can have the value of the item in the drop down as the id and hence can save that in the code behind on save. I am making assumptions above which I don't like... I.e. that the name never has a number it, that the web service will always return the id first to set the id before running the add to the dropdown for the first time. It just feels wrong.... :S (thoughts?) Note: essentially I need the option to look like this: <option value="8213">BROOKFIELD</option> I also thought I could make a second call to get just the id on the bind of the text... but I kind of want to only make one call.... • MongoDB Schema Design - Real-time Chat

  I'm starting a project which I think will be particularly suited to MongoDB due to the speed and scalability it affords. The module I'm currently interested in is to do with real-time chat. If I was to do this in a traditional RDBMS I'd split it out into: Channel (A channel has many users) User (A user has one channel but many messages) Message (A message has a user) The the purpose of this use case, I'd like to assume that there will be typically 5 channels active at one time, each handling at most 5 messages per second. Specific queries that need to be fast: Fetch new messages (based on an bookmark, time stamp maybe, or an incrementing counter?) Post a message to a channel Verify that a user can post in a channel Bearing in mind that the document limit with MongoDB is 4mb, how would you go about designing the schema? What would yours look like? Are there any gotchas I should watch out for?

  I use tomcat6 as a servlet container, and need to integrate Hibernate 3.2 into the project. I found a document how to configure SessionFactory lookup through JNDI, though it does not work as expected. Quote: Hibernate works in any environment that uses JTA, in fact, we recommend to use JTA whenever possible as it is the standard Java transaction interface. End of quote. In hibernate config I indicate current_session_context_class = jta and now I get an error "No TransactionManagerLookup specified". The problem is that Tomcat does not support JTA, and to get it worked, if I understand it correctly, you need to add JOTM or other library to Tomcat. But according to quote it is recommended to use JTA. What can you recommend in this situation?

• Set User Defined Language Programmatically

  I've been trying to select the User Defined Language programmatically unsuccessfully through various means, another problem is the files I need to apply the user defined language have no file extension, old DOS files; NPPM_SETCURRENTLANGTYPE (only enumerates built-in languages) Macros don't seem to sense changes with language selection, I was hoping to record a macro then trigger it with NPPExec. Notepad++ accepts only in-built languages for starting from the command line I can't select a UDL as the default language for a new document. ...and my attempts at overriding an in-built language seem to have failed. I've copied details from userDefinedLang.xml to langs.xml don't work. The highlighting doesn't change. Thanks for any help!!

• SharePoint 2010 is forcing me to safe PDF when opening from doc library

  I have a document library with a PDF file. Whenever I click on the PDF file, I am prompted to save the file. I do not get the option of opening the file, I am forced to save it. What I want is for the PDF file to open, either in the browser or in a separate Adobe Reader window, depending on the Adobe Reader settings. I'm pretty sure SharePoint is responsible for this behavior, because if I put the PDF on my hard drive, then create a HTML file with a link to the file, it opens in the browser when I click on it. Please note: I looked at this question and did not help. I don't care if the PDF opens in the browser or in a separate Adobe Reader window, I just want it to open.

• JavaScript: Change to Absolute Positioning

  I'm trying to center a page on any resolution while still being able to use absolute positioning to move pictures. I figure that the best way would be to have a table positioned relatively in the beginning in the center of the page, then change it to absolute positioning in the onload of the page. I think the correct line is: document.getElementById("Object").style.position = "absolute"; However, I put an alert box after it asking where the left side of the object is, I get undefined. But, if I directly assign it to a position (Object.style.left = 500) I will get that number. So I can assign it a value, meaning it is in absolute position, but I cannot pull a value out of that. Kind of confusing but hopefully it makes sense and someone knows what to do. Thanks.

On this panel this year we had Michael Wells from Raymond James, Joy Mathew and Venki Govindarajan from Comcast, and Serkan Karatas from Turk Telekom. Our panelists have a great mix of experiences and all are passionate about using Oracle Data Integration products to solve very complex use cases. Each panelist was given a ten minute to overview their use of our product, followed by a barrage of questions from the audience. Michael Wells spoke about using Oracle GoldenGate for heterogeneous real time replication from HP (Tandem) NonStop to SQL Server and emphasized the need for using standard naming conventions for when customers configure GoldenGate, as the practices is immensely helpful when debugging a problem. Joy Mathew and Venkat Govindarajan from Comcast described how they have used GoldenGate for over a decade and their experiences of using the product for replicating data from HP nonstop to Terdata. Serkan Karatas from Turk Telekom dove into using Oracle GoldenGate and the value of archiving data in extremely large databases, which in Turk Telekoms case resulted in a 1 month ROI for the entire project. • IIS7 - Specifying content-length header in ASP causes "connection reset" error

  I'm migrating a series of websites from an existing IIS5 server to a brand new IIS7 web server. One of the pages pulls a data file from a blob in the database and serves it to the end user: Response.ContentType = rs("contentType") Response.AddHeader "Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=" & Trim(rs("docName"))&rs("suffix")' let the browser know the file name Response.AddHeader "Content-Length", cstr(rs("docsize"))' let the browser know the file size Testing this in the new IIS7 install, I get a "Connection Reset" error in both Internet Explorer and Firefox. The document is served up correctly if the Content-Length header is removed (but then the user won't get a useful progress bar). Any ideas on how to correct this; whether it be a server configuration option or via code? Thanks.

• Hidding a Flash SWF upon loading

  Hello, I have a question that is probably very simple, but I cannot find an answer here or on Google. I am loading a SWF in an HTML page the following way (using JavaScript): AC_FL_RunContent( "src", "${swf}", .... "type", "application/x-shockwave-flash", "pluginspage", "http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" ); I have tried to add the line: "style", "visibility: hidden" But it has not worked. I can later on make it visible or hidden using: document.getElementById("flash").style.visibility = "hidden"; But I would like to have the flash invisible and make it visible later on, but by adding a parameter in the AC_FL_RunContent. • Equivalent of LaTeX's \label and \ref in HTML.

  I have an FAQ in HTML (example) in which the questions refer to each other a lot. That means whenever we insert/delete/rearrange the questions, the numbering changes. LaTeX solves this very elegantly with \label and \ref -- you give items simple tags and LaTeX worries about converting to numbers in the final document. How do people deal with that in HTML? ADDED: Note that this is no problem if you don't have to actually refer to items by number, in which case you can set a tag with <a name="foo"> and then link to it with <a href="#foo">some non-numerical way to refer to foo</a>. But I'm assuming "foo" has some auto-generated number, say from an <ol> list, and I want to use that number to refer to and link to it.

• How to write async background workers that work on WPF flowdocument

  I'm trying to write a background worker that processes a flowdocument. I can't access the properties of flowdocument objects because of the thread verification. I tried to serialize the document and loaded it on the worker thread which actually solved the thread verfication issue. However, once the processing is complete I also need to use things like TextPointer objects. Those objects now point to a objects in the copy not the original. Can anyone suggest the best way to approach such background processing in WPF?

• Storing UTF-8 XML using Word's CustomXMLPart or any other supported way

  I am writing a Word add-in which is supposed to store some own XML data per document using Word object model and its CustomXMLPart. The problem I am now facing is the lack of IStream-like functionality for reading/writing XML to/from a CustomXMLPart. It only provides BSTR interface and I am puzzled how to handle UTF-8 XMLs with BSTRs. To my understanding an UTF-8 XML file should really never have to undergo this sort of Unicode conversion. I am not sure what to expect as a result here. Is there another way of using Word automation interfaces to store arbitrary custom information inside a DOCX file?

I read you can use @lends [class].prototype inside new Class and mark initialize with the @constructs tag. How can I mark methods and events such? I.E.: setHtmlContents should be a method, close should be an event. Also, can the elements under options be documented, somehow?
