  • Putting WPF Control (ComboBox) into canvas with Visuals

    - by Mikhail
I am writing a WPF chart and use Visuals for performance. The code looks like: public class DrawingCanvas2 : Canvas { private List<Visual> _visuals = new List<Visual>(); protected override Visual GetVisualChild( int index ) { return _visuals[index]; } protected override int VisualChildrenCount { get { return _visuals.Count; } } public void AddVisual( Visual visual ) { _visuals.Add( visual ); base.AddVisualChild( visual ); base.AddLogicalChild( visual ); } } Beside DrawingVisual elements (line, text) I need a ComboBox in the chart. So I tried this: public DrawingCanvas2() { ComboBox box = new ComboBox(); AddVisual( box ); box.Width = 100; box.Height = 30; Canvas.SetLeft( box, 10 ); Canvas.SetTop( box, 10 ); } but it does not work, there is no ComboBox displayed. What I am missing?

  • In ASP.NET MVC, what is the equivalent of ASP classic's server side includes?

    - by Quakkels
I have been developing in classic ASP for about 2.5 years and I am trying to update my skill set to include ASP.NET MVC. What is the MVC way of executing SSIs? IE: How can I include a database drawn navigation list in a sidebar? I have been looking into partial views, but they seem to get their content from the controller. As far as I can tell this means that I would need to write each controller to pass the navigation list. Am I thinking along the right lines?

  • Python: does it make sense to refactor this check into it's own method?

    - by Jeff Fry
I'm still learning python. I just wrote this method to determine if a player has won a game of tic-tac-toe yet, given a board state like:'[['o','x','x'],['x','o','-'],['x','o','o']]' def hasWon(board): players = ['x', 'o'] for player in players: for row in board: if row.count(player) == 3: return player top, mid, low = board for i in range(3): if [ top[i],mid[i],low[i] ].count(player) == 3: return player if [top[0],mid[1],low[2]].count(player) == 3: return player if [top[2],mid[1],low[0]].count(player) == 3: return player return None It occurred to me that I check lists of 3 chars several times and could refactor the checking to its own method like so: def check(list, player): if list.count(player) == 3: return player ...but then realized that all that really does is change lines like: if [ top[i],mid[i],low[i] ].count(player) == 3: return player to: if check( [top[i],mid[i],low[i]], player ): return player ...which frankly doesn't seem like much of an improvement. Do you see a better way to refactor this? Or in general a more Pythonic option? I'd love to hear it!

  • How to display a DateTime with chosen date parts, but in the order of the FormatProvider?

    - by Stephane
I want to display the date in the order that the culture provides, but with the elements I want only. The DateTime.Tostring() method has a list of patterns that are very useful but I would like a very small change in it. The CultureInfo used in the following the following code are chosen as example, I don't want to rely on a specific list of CultureInfo, if possible var now = DateTime. Now; string nowString = now.ToString("m", CultureInfo.GetCultureInfo("en-us")); Console.WriteLine(nowString); nowString = now.ToString("m", CultureInfo.GetCultureInfo("fr-FR")); Console.WriteLine(nowString); displays : April 12 12 avril I would like a pattern that display the abbreviation of the month and the day, but that keeps the correct order from the specified CultureInfo. using the pattern "MMM dd" will always display the month's abbreviation first, followed by the day, breaking the french order for example. Any way to achieve that without too much custom code?

  • (type theoretical) How is ([] ==) [] typed in haskell?

    - by Ingo
It sounds silly, but I can't get it. Why can the expression [] == [] be typed at all? More specifically, which type (in class Eq) is inferred to the type of list elements? In a ghci session, I see the following: Prelude> :t (==[]) (==[]) :: (Eq [a]) => [a] -> Bool But the constraint Eq [a] implies Eq a also, as is shown here: Prelude> (==[]) ([]::[IO ()]) <interactive>:1:1: No instance for (Eq (IO ())) arising from use of `==' at <interactive>:1:1-2 Probable fix: add an instance declaration for (Eq (IO ())) In the definition of `it': it = (== []) ([] :: [IO ()]) Thus, in []==[], the type checker must assume that the list element is some type a that is in class Eq. But which one? The type of [] is just [a], and this is certainly more general than Eq a = [a].

  • joining two sets in LINQ

  • How to combine designable components with dependency injection

    - by Wim Coenen
When creating a designable .NET component, you are required to provide a default constructor. From the IComponent documentation: To be a component, a class must implement the IComponent interface and provide a basic constructor that requires no parameters or a single parameter of type IContainer. This makes it impossible to do dependency injection via constructor arguments. (Extra constructors could be provided, but the designer would ignore them.) Some alternatives we're considering: Service Locator Don't use dependency injection, instead use the service locator pattern to acquire dependencies. This seems to be what IComponent.Site.GetService is for. I guess we could create a reusable ISite implementation (ConfigurableServiceLocator?) which can be configured with the necessary dependencies. But how does this work in a designer context? Dependency Injection via properties Inject dependencies via properties. Provide default instances if they are necessary to show the component in a designer. Document which properties need to be injected. Inject dependencies with an Initialize method This is much like injection via properties but it keeps the list of dependencies that need to be injected in one place. This way the list of required dependencies is documented implicitly, and the compiler will assists you with errors when the list changes. Any idea what the best practice is here? How do you do it? edit: I have removed "(e.g. a WinForms UserControl)" since I intended the question to be about components in general. Components are all about inversion of control (see section 8.3.1 of the UMLv2 specification) so I don't think that "you shouldn't inject any services" is a good answer. edit 2: It took some playing with WPF and the MVVM pattern to finally "get" Mark's answer. I see now that visual controls are indeed a special case. As for using non-visual components on designer surfaces, I think the .NET component model is fundamentally incompatible with dependency injection. It appears to be designed around the service locator pattern instead. Maybe this will start to change with the infrastructure that was added in .NET 4.0 in the System.ComponentModel.Composition namespace.

  • Ignore Hibernate @Where annotation

    - by Zecrates
I have an Entity which has an association to another Entity annotated with @Where, like so public class EntityA { @OneToMany @Where(...) private List<EntityB> entityBList; } Recently the inevitable has happened, I need to load EntityB's that don't conform to the @Where clause. I could remove the @Where annotation, but it is used a lot, so ideally I don't want to do that. Apart from loading the list of EntityB's manually, with another query, what are my options? Can I tell Hibernate to ignore the @Where annotation?

  • Custom Classes Passed from Service to a UI threads via AIDL

    - by Honza Pokorny
I have a service that regularly queries a web server for new messages. The service stores the new messages in an arrayList. These messages are implemented using a custom class, storing all kinds of metadata (strings and longs). An activity then connects to this service to retrieve those messages and display them to the user. I have an .aidl file that describes the interface that the service exposes. package com.example.package; interface MyInterface { List<Message> getMessages(); } The Message class extends the Parcelable class which should allow for the IPC transfer. The problem is this: Eclipse gives me an error saying that the type of List<Message> is unknown. Any imports are marked as invalid. Ideas? Thanks

  • ASP.NET MVC: Route to URL

    - by JamesBrownIsDead
What's the easiest way to get the URL (relative or absolute) to a Route in MVC? I saw this code here on SO but it seems a little verbose and doesn't enumerate the RouteTable. Example: List<string> urlList = new List<string>(); urlList.Add(GetUrl(new { controller = "Help", action = "Edit" })); urlList.Add(GetUrl(new { controller = "Help", action = "Create" })); urlList.Add(GetUrl(new { controller = "About", action = "Company" })); urlList.Add(GetUrl(new { controller = "About", action = "Management" })); With: protected string GetUrl(object routeValues) { RouteValueDictionary values = new RouteValueDictionary(routeValues); RequestContext context = new RequestContext(HttpContext, RouteData); string url = RouteTable.Routes.GetVirtualPath(context, values).VirtualPath; return new Uri(Request.Url, url).AbsoluteUri; } What's a better way to examine the RouteTable and get a URL for a given controller and action?

  • Strange results - I obtain same value for all keys

    - by Pietro Luciani
I have a problem with mapreduce. Giving as input a list of song ("Songname"#"UserID"#"boolean") i must have as result a song list in which is specified how many time different useres listen them... so a output ("Songname","timelistening"). I used hashtable to allow only one couple . With short files it works well but when I put as input a list about 1000000 of records it returns me the same value (20) for all records. This is my mapper: public static class CanzoniMapper extends Mapper<Object, Text, Text, IntWritable>{ private IntWritable userID = new IntWritable(0); private Text song = new Text(); public void map(Object key, Text value, Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { /*StringTokenizer itr = new StringTokenizer(value.toString()); while (itr.hasMoreTokens()) { word.set(itr.nextToken()); context.write(word, one); }*/ String[] caratteri = value.toString().split("#"); if(caratteri[2].equals("1")){ song.set(caratteri[0]); userID.set(Integer.parseInt(caratteri[1])); context.write(song, userID); } } } This is my reducer: public static class CanzoniReducer extends Reducer<Text,IntWritable,Text,IntWritable> { private IntWritable result = new IntWritable(); public void reduce(Text key, Iterable<IntWritable> values, Context context) throws IOException, InterruptedException { Hashtable<IntWritable,Text> doppioni = new Hashtable<IntWritable,Text>(); for (IntWritable val : values) { doppioni.put(val, key); } result.set(doppioni.size()); //doppioni.clear(); context.write(key, result); } } and main: Configuration conf = new Configuration(); Job job = new Job(conf, "word count"); job.setJarByClass(Canzoni.class); job.setMapperClass(CanzoniMapper.class); //job.setCombinerClass(CanzoniReducer.class); //job.setNumReduceTasks(2); job.setReducerClass(CanzoniReducer.class); job.setOutputKeyClass(Text.class); job.setOutputValueClass(IntWritable.class); FileInputFormat.addInputPath(job, new Path(args[0])); FileOutputFormat.setOutputPath(job, new Path(args[1])); System.exit(job.waitForCompletion(true) ? 0 : 1); Any idea???

  • java quaternion 3D rotation implementation

    - by MRM
    I made a method to rotate a list of points using quaternions, but all i get back as output is the same list i gave to rotate on. Maybe i did not understood corectly the math for 3d rotations or my code is not implemented the right way, could you give me a hand? This is the method i use: public static ArrayList<Float> rotation3D(ArrayList<Float> points, double angle, int x, int y, int z) { ArrayList<Float> newpoints = points; for (int i=0;i<points.size();i+=3) { float x_old = points.get(i).floatValue(); float y_old = points.get(i+1).floatValue(); float z_old = points.get(i+2).floatValue(); double[] initial = {1,0,0,0}; double[] total = new double[4]; double[] local = new double[4]; //components for local quaternion //w local[0] = Math.cos(0.5 * angle); //x local[1] = x * Math.sin(0.5 * angle); //y local[2] = y * Math.sin(0.5 * angle); //z local[3] = z * Math.sin(0.5 * angle); //components for final quaternion Q1*Q2 //w = w1w2 - x1x2 - y1y2 - z1z2 total[0] = local[0] * initial[0] - local[1] * initial[1] - local[2] * initial[2] - local[3] * initial[3]; //x = w1x2 + x1w2 + y1z2 - z1y2 total[1] = local[0] * initial[1] + local[1] * initial[0] + local[2] * initial[3] - local[3] * initial[2]; //y = w1y2 - x1z2 + y1w2 + z1x2 total[2] = local[0] * initial[2] - local[1] * initial[3] + local[2] * initial[0] + local[3] * initial[1]; //z = w1z2 + x1y2 - y1x2 + z1w2 total[3] = local[0] * initial[3] + local[1] * initial[2] - local[2] * initial[1] + local[3] * initial[0]; //new x,y,z of the 3d point using rotation matrix made from the final quaternion float x_new = (float)((1 - 2 * total[2] * total[2] - 2 * total[3] * total[3]) * x_old + (2 * total[1] * total[2] - 2 * total[0] * total[3]) * y_old + (2 * total[1] * total[3] + 2 * total[0] * total[2]) * z_old); float y_new = (float) ((2 * total[1] * total[2] + 2 * total[0] * total[3]) * x_old + (1 - 2 * total[1] * total[1] - 2 * total[3] * total[3]) * y_old + (2 * total[2] * total[3] + 2 * total[0] * total[1]) * z_old); float z_new = (float) ((2 * total[1] * total[3] - 2 * total[0] * total[2]) * x_old + (2 * total[2] * total[3] - 2 * total[0] * total[1]) * y_old + (1 - 2 * total[1] * total[1] - 2 * total[2] * total[2]) * z_old); newpoints.set(i, x_new); newpoints.set(i+1, y_new); newpoints.set(i+2, z_new); } return newpoints; } For rotation3D(points, 50, 0, 1, 0) where points is: 0.0, 0.0, -9.0; 0.0, 0.0, -11.0; 20.0, 0.0, -11.0; 20.0, 0.0, -9.0; i get back the same list.

  • showing surrounding page numbers

    - by Tony Vipros
    I've been doing some pagination recently and used the following: if ( $totalPages > $pagesToShow ) { $start = $pageNumber - floor($pagesToShow/2); $end = $pageNumber + floor($pagesToShow/2); while ( $start < 1 ) { $start++; $end++; } while ( $end > $totalPages ) { $start--; $end--; } } else { $start = 1; $end = $totalPages; } to work out where to start and end the list of surrounding pages. So that a paging list can be created like << < 1 2 3 4 5 '. Just wondering if there is a better method as using loops like that seems a little odd.

  • Clipboard Debugging

    - by Jake Pearson
In the olden times of .NET 1.1, I could use the SoapFormatter to find out exactly what was getting serialized when I copied an object into the clipboard. Fast forward to 2010, and I tried to do the same trick. It turns out the SoapFormatter does not support generics. Is there an alternative way to find out exactly what binary objects are serialized into the clipboard? For example lets say I have this class: public class Foo { public List<Goo> Children; } If I send an instance of it to the clipboard, I would like to take a look at what is in the clipboard to see if it's children list was included or not. Update: I was finally able to find the over copied field with the debugger. Visual Studio did it's job.

  • Is it a oop good design ?

    - by remi bourgarel
Hi all, I'd like to know what you think about this part of our program is realized : We have in our database a list of campsite. Partners call us to get all the campsites near a GPS location or all the campsites which provide a bar (we call it a service). So how I realized it ? Here is our database : Campsite - ID - NAME - GPS_latitude - GPS_longitude CampsiteServices -Campsite_ID -Services_ID So my code (c# but it's not relevant, let say it's an OO language) looks like this public class SqlCodeCampsiteFilter{ public string SqlCode; public Dictionary<string, object> Parameters; } interface ISQLCampsiteFilter{ SqlCodeEngineCore CreateSQLCode(); } public class GpsLocationFilter : ISQLCampsiteFilter{ public float? GpsLatitude; public float? GpsLongitude; public SqlCodeEngineCore CreateSQLCode() { --return an sql code to filter on the gps location like dbo.getDistance(@gpsLat,@gpsLong,campsite.GPS_latitude,campsite.GPS_longitude) with the parameters } } public class ServiceFilter : : ISQLCampsiteFilter{ public int[] RequiredServicesID; public SqlCodeEngineCore CreateSQLCode() { --return an sql code to filter on the services "where ID IN (select CampsiteServices.Service_ID FROm CampsiteServices WHERE Service_ID in ...) } } So in my webservice code : List<ISQLFilterEngineCore> filters = new List<ISQLFilterEngineCore>(); if(gps_latitude.hasvalue && gps_longitude.hasvalue){ filters.Add (new GpsLocationFilter (gps_latitude.value,gps_longitude.value)); } if(required_services_id != null){ filters.Add (new ServiceFilter (required_services_id )); } string sql = "SELECT ID,NAME FROM campsite where 1=1" foreach(ISQLFilterEngineCore aFilter in filters){ SqlCodeCampsiteFilter code = aFilter.CreateSQLCode(); sql += code.SqlCode; mySqlCommand.AddParameters(code.Parameters);//add all the parameters to the sql command } return mySqlCommand.GetResults(); 1/ I don't use ORM for the simple reason that the system exists since 10 years and the only dev who is here since the beginning is starting to learn about difference between public and private. 2/ I don't like SP because : we can do override, and t-sql is not so funny to use :) So what do you think ? Is it clear ? Do you have any pattern that I should have a look to ? If something is not clear please ask

  • Favorite Visual Studio keyboard remappings?

    - by hoytster
Stack Overflow has covered favorite short-cuts and add-ins, optimizations and preferences -- great topics all. If this one has been covered, I can't find it -- so thanks in advance for the link. What are your favorite Visual Studio keyboard remappings? Mine are motivated by the fact that I'm a touch-typist. Mouse, function keys, arrow keys, Home, End -- bleh. These are commands I do all day every day, so I've remapped them to sequences I can execute without moving my hands from the home row. The command that is remapped in Tools = Customize = [Keyboard] is shown in parentheses. I'm 100% positive that there are better remappings than these, so please post yours! Please include the command; oft times, figuring it out is a challenge. -- Hoytster Running the app and operating the debugger Ctrl+Q + Ctrl+R Run the application, in debug mode (Debug.Start) Ctrl+Q + Ctrl+Q Quit (stop) the application (Debug.StopDebugging) Ctrl+T Toggle a breakpoint at the current line (Debug.ToggleBreakpoint) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+I Step Into the method (Debug.StepInto) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+O Step Out of the method (Debug.StepOut) Ctrl+N Step over the method to the Next statement (Debug.StepOver) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+C Run the code, stopping at the Cursor position (Debug.RunToCursor) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+E Set then next statement to Execute (Debug.SetNextStatement) Navigating the code Ctrl+S Move a character LEFT (Edit.CharLeft) Ctrl+D Move a character RIGHT (Edit.CharRight) Ctrl+Q + Ctrl+S Move to the LEFT END of the current line (Edit.LineStart) Ctrl+Q + Ctrl+D Move to the RIGHT END of the current line (Edit.LineEnd) Ctrl+E Move a line UP (Edit.LineUp) Ctrl+X Move a line DOWN (Edit.LineDown) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+K Toggle (add or remove) bookmark (Edit.ToggleBookmark) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+N Move to the NEXT bookmark (Edit.NextBookmark) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+P Move to the PREVIOUS bookmark (Edit.PreviousBookmark) Ctrl+Q + Ctrl+W Save all modified Windows (File.SaveAll) Ctrl+L Find the NEXT instance of the search string (Edit.FindNext) Ctrl+K + Ctrl+L Find the PREVIOUS instance of the search string (Edit.FindPrevious) Ctrl+Q + Ctrl+L Drop down the list of open files (Window.ShowEzMDIFileList) The last sequence is like clicking the downward-facing triangle in the upper-right corner of the code editor window. • Functional languages targeting the LLVM

Are there any languages that target the LLVM that: Are statically typed Use type inference Are functional (i.e. lambda expressions, closures, list primitives, list comprehensions, etc.) Have first class object-oriented features (inheritance, polymorphism, mixins, etc.) Have a sophisticated type system (generics, covariance and contravariance, etc.) Scala is all of these, but only targets the JVM. F# (and to some extent C#) is most if not all of these, but only targets .NET. What similar language targets the LLVM?

  • C# BinarySearch breaks when inheriting from something that implements IComparable<T>?

    - by Ender
In .NET the BinarySearch algorithm (in Lists, Arrays, etc.) appears to fail if the items you are trying to search inherit from an IComparable instead of implementing it directly: List<B> foo = new List<B>(); // B inherits from A, which implements IComparable<A> foo.Add(new B()); foo.BinarySearch(new B()); // InvalidOperationException, "Failed to compare two elements in the array." Where: public abstract class A : IComparable<A> { public int x; public int CompareTo(A other) { return x.CompareTo(other.x); } } public class B : A {} Is there a way around this? Implementing CompareTo(B other) in class B doesn't seem to work.

  • Bind Data after TCP receive.

    - by gtas
I have this strange problem all day now. I dunno if you handled something similar. I used two different serializers and now i know its not this problem. Im sending some data over TCP Sockets. Serialize - Send - Deserialize, everything works ok, i can get my objects search through them, use they're properties! But, if e.g receive a BusinessObject[] and convert into List<BusinessObject>, then bind the list in a Control.DataSource = businessObjectList; BOOM! NotSupportedException. Tried it with 3 different controls. Same behaviour. My head is empty of ideas right now!! The Send TCP happens on Desktop Framework, Receive on Compact Framework. But i dont think this has to do with anything. I wish for an explanation on this!

  • Efficient data structure design

    - by Sway
Hi there, I need to match a series of user inputed words against a large dictionary of words (to ensure the entered value exists). So if the user entered: "orange" it should match an entry "orange' in the dictionary. Now the catch is that the user can also enter a wildcard or series of wildcard characters like say "or__ge" which would also match "orange" The key requirements are: * this should be as fast as possible. * use the smallest amount of memory to achieve it. If the size of the word list was small I could use a string containing all the words and use regular expressions. however given that the word list could contain potentially hundreds of thousands of enteries I'm assuming this wouldn't work. So is some sort of 'tree' be the way to go for this...? Any thoughts or suggestions on this would be totally appreciated! Thanks in advance, Matt

  • Non Document Centric SharePoint Workflow

    - by Dan Revell
SharePoint workflows are document centric in that the base thing the workflow runs on has to be a thing; be it a document or just a list item. The workflow itself is task based, so stuff a user has to do. Now I can put any sort of code in these tasks that I want to and even put complex InfoPath forms in for the user to perform the task. This has been fine on all my previous workflows. But what if I want the tasks to be actual official forms themselves. The item that the workflow runs on is just some abstract concept like an event. An example could be an accident has happened. There isn't an accident form, but a whole set of forms that need to be completed by different people. Task forms aren't really a nice way to go, because it locks all the forms into the task list. You can only access the forms by not deleting the tasks when complete and going to the workflow summery and following the task links to the InfoPath forms or going straight to the tasks list and doing a filter on particular "accidents". These are official documents so ideally there would be a library for each type of document and the workflow would orchestrate the completion of the right forms. It would mean each task would have to create a new blank form and then link the user to that form. The user would go complete the form but then have to go back to the task form and click yes I've completed it until the workflow could progress. Well this is short of the workflow monitoring the forms library form for some completion trigger. But then it all gets messy with the user experience from clicking the link in the task email, to open the Infopath task form, to clicking the link in the subsequent Infopath library form and then return through these forms on completion. It just gets messy trying to retrofit this non document centric sort of workflow into SharePoint. I would really appreciate any input on what might be the best way to do this. Store the forms as task forms Store the forms as library forms and create/link from the task forms Store the forms as different infopath views, and use a forms library. The workflow would trigger variables that progress the view the infopath form shows. Using the same form template for both task forms and a forms library and when a task form is complete, copy the xml into the forms library to have a official record outside of the workflow. Thanks

I want to realize this with a cron job inside the GAE. class AmazonEC2uswest(db.Model): ami = db.StringProperty(required=True) mani = db.StringProperty() typ = db.StringProperty() arch = db.StringProperty() state = db.StringProperty() owner = db.StringProperty() class CronAMIsAmazonUS_WEST(webapp.RequestHandler): def get(self): aws_access_key_id_admin = "<secret>" aws_secret_access_key_admin = "<secret>" conn_us_west = boto.ec2.connect_to_region('us-west-1', aws_access_key_id=aws_access_key_id_admin, aws_secret_access_key=aws_secret_access_key_admin, is_secure = False) liste_images_us_west = conn_us_west.get_all_images() laenge_liste_images_us_west = len(liste_images_us_west) for i in range(laenge_liste_images_us_west): datastore_uswest_AMIs = AmazonEC2uswest(ami=liste_images_us_west[i].id, mani=str(liste_images_us_west[i].location), typ=liste_images_us_west[i].type, arch=liste_images_us_west[i].architecture, state=liste_images_us_west[i].state, owner=liste_images_us_west[i].ownerId) datastore_uswest_AMIs.put() The problem: Getting the list with get_all_images() lasts only a few seconds. But writing the data to the Google datastore needs way too much CPU time. My IBM T42p (P4M with 2GHz) needs for that piece of code approx. 1 Minute! Is it possible to optimize my code in a way that it needs fewer CPU time?

  • Java dynamic proxy questions.

1.Does dynamic proxy instance subclass the target class? The java doc says the proxy instance implements "a list of interfaces", says nothing about subclassing, but through debugging, I saw that the proxy instance did inherit the target class properites. What does the "a list of interfaces " mean? Can I exclude those interfaces implemented by target class ? 2.Can I invoke target class specific methods on a proxy instance? 3. I think dynamic proxy is an interface methods invocation proxy but rather than a target class proxy, is that right (I am deeply infected by hibernate proxy object concept)?
