  • WCF Troubleshooting from ASP.NET Client -- Help!

    - by Kobojunkie
    I am trying to call a method in my service that is as below, from an ASP.NET application. public bool ValidateUser(string username, string password) { try { // String CurrentLoggedInWindowsUserName = WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name; // //primary identity of the call // String CurrentServiceSecurityContextPrimaryIdentityName = // ServiceSecurityContext.Current.PrimaryIdentity.Name; // } catch (Exception ex) { FaultExceptionFactory fct = new FaultExceptionFactory(); throw new FaultException<CustomFaultException>(fct.CreateFaultException(ex)); } return false; } The Config for the client end of my service is as below <binding name="WSHttpBinding_IMembershipService" closeTimeout="00:01:00" openTimeout="00:01:00" receiveTimeout="00:10:00" sendTimeout="00:01:00" bypassProxyOnLocal="false" transactionFlow="false" hostNameComparisonMode="StrongWildcard" maxBufferPoolSize="524288" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536" messageEncoding="Text" textEncoding="utf-8" useDefaultWebProxy="false" allowCookies="false"> <readerQuotas maxDepth="32" maxStringContentLength="8192" maxArrayLength="16384" maxBytesPerRead="4096" maxNameTableCharCount="16384" /> <reliableSession ordered="true" inactivityTimeout="00:10:00" enabled="false" /> <security mode="Message"> <transport clientCredentialType="Windows" proxyCredentialType="None" realm="" /> <message clientCredentialType="Windows" negotiateServiceCredential="true" algorithmSuite="Default" establishSecurityContext="true" /> </security> </binding> Problem I keep having is when I call it; I get the following exception message.   • Guidelines for calling controller methods in helper modules?

    - by keruilin
    Few questions: Is it possible to call a controller method in a helper module (e.g., application helper)? If so, how does the helper handle the rendering of views? Ignore it? In what instances would you want to call a controller method from a helper? Is it bad practice? Do you have any sample code where you're calling controller methods in helper?

  • image upload problem.

    - by Bluemagica
    I wrote a function to resize and upload images...it works, but only for one image. So if I call the function three times, I end up with 3 copies of the last image..... function uploadImage($name,$width,$height,$size,$path='content/user_avatars/') { //=================================================== //Handle image upload $upload_error=0; //Picture $img = $_FILES[$name]['name']; if($img) { $file = stripslashes($_FILES[$name]['name']); $ext = strtolower(getExt($file)); if($ext!='jpg' && $ext!='jpeg' && $ext!='png' && $ext!='gif') { $error_msg = "Unknown extension"; $upload_error = 1; return array($upload_error,$error_msg); } if(filesize($_FILES[$name]['tmp_name'])>$size*1024) { $error_msg = "Max file size of ".($size*1024)."kb exceeded"; $upload_error = 2; return array($upload_error,$error_msg); } $newFile = time().'.'.$ext; resizeImg($_FILES[$name]['tmp_name'],$ext,$width,$height); $store = copy($_FILES[$name]['tmp_name'],$path.$newFile); if(!$store) { $error_msg = "Uploading failed"; $upload_error = 3; return array($upload_error,$error_msg); } else { return array($upload_error,$newFile); } } } //========================================================================================= //Helper Functions function getExt($str) { $i = strpos($str,"."); if(!$i) { return ""; } $l = strlen($str)-$i; $ext = substr($str,$i+1,$l); return $ext; } function resizeImg($file,$ext,$width,$height) { list($aw,$ah) = getimagesize($file); $scaleX = $aw/$width; $scaleY = $ah/$height; if($scaleX>$scaleY) { $nw = round($aw*(1/$scaleX)); $nh = round($ah*(1/$scaleX)); } else { $nw = round($aw*(1/$scaleY)); $nh = round($ah*(1/$scaleY)); } $new_image = imagecreatetruecolor($nw,$nh); imagefill($new_image,0,0,imagecolorallocatealpha($new_image,255,255,255,127)); if($ext=='jpg'||$ext=='jpeg') { $src_image = imagecreatefromjpeg($file); } else if($ext=='gif') { $src_image = imagecreatefromgif($file); } else if($ext=='png') { $src_image = imagecreatefrompng($file); } imagecopyresampled($new_image,$src_image,0,0,0,0,$nw,$nh,$aw,$ah); if($ext=='jpg'||$ext=='jpeg') { imagejpeg($new_image,$file,100); } else if($ext=='gif') { imagegif($new_image,$file); } else if($ext=='png') { imagepng($new_image,$file,9); } imagedestroy($src_image); imagedestroy($new_image); } I have a form with two upload fields, 'face_pic' and 'body_pic', and I want to upload these two to the server and resize them before storing. Any ideas?

  • Scala actors: receive vs react

    - by jqno
    Let me first say that I have quite a lot of Java experience, but have only recently become interested in functional languages. Recently I've started looking at Scala, which seems like a very nice language. However, I've been reading about Scala's Actor framework in Programming in Scala, and there's one thing I don't understand. In chapter 30.4 it says that using react instead of receive makes it possible to re-use threads, which is good for performance, since threads are expensive in the JVM. Does this mean that, as long as I remember to call react instead of receive, I can start as many Actors as I like? Before discovering Scala, I've been playing with Erlang, and the author of Programming Erlang boasts about spawning over 200,000 processes without breaking a sweat. I'd hate to do that with Java threads. What kind of limits am I looking at in Scala as compared to Erlang (and Java)? Also, how does this thread re-use work in Scala? Let's assume, for simplicity, that I have only one thread. Will all the actors that I start run sequentially in this thread, or will some sort of task-switching take place? For example, if I start two actors that ping-pong messages to each other, will I risk deadlock if they're started in the same thread? According to Programming in Scala, writing actors to use react is more difficult than with receive. This sounds plausible, since react doesn't return. However, the book goes on to show how you can put a react inside a loop using Actor.loop. As a result, you get loop { react { ... } } which, to me, seems pretty similar to while (true) { receive { ... } } which is used earlier in the book. Still, the book says that "in practice, programs will need at least a few receive's". So what am I missing here? What can receive do that react cannot, besides return? And why do I care? Finally, coming to the core of what I don't understand: the book keeps mentioning how using react makes it possible to discard the call stack to re-use the thread. How does that work? Why is it necessary to discard the call stack? And why can the call stack be discarded when a function terminates by throwing an exception (react), but not when it terminates by returning (receive)? I have the impression that Programming in Scala has been glossing over some of the key issues here, which is a shame, because otherwise it's a truly excellent book.

  • Javascript code inside updatepanel usercontrol.

    - by Ed Woodcock
    Ok: I've got an updatepanel on an aspx page that contains a single Placeholder. Inside this placeholder I'm appending one of a selection of usercontrols depending on certain external conditions (this is a configuration page). In each of these usercontrols there is a bindUcEvents() javascript function that binds the various jQuery and javascript events to buttons and validators inside the usercontrol. The issue I'm having is that the usercontrol's javascript is not being recognised. Normally, javascript inside an updatepanel is executed when the updatepanel posts back, however none of this code can be found by the page (I've tried running the function manually via firebug's console, but it tells me it cannot find the function). Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheers, Ed. EDIT: cut down (but functional) example: Markup: <script src="/js/jquery-1.3.2.min.js"></script> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:ScriptManager ID="Script" runat="server" /> <asp:Button ID="Postback" runat="server" Text="Populate" OnClick="PopulatePlaceholder" /> <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdateMe" runat="server"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="Postback" EventName="Click" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> <asp:Literal ID="Code" runat="server" /> <asp:PlaceHolder ID="PlaceMe" runat="server" /> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> </div> </form> C#: protected void PopulatePlaceholder(object sender, EventArgs e) { Button button = new Button(); button.ID = "Push"; button.Text = "push"; button.OnClientClick = "javascript:return false;"; Code.Text = "<script type=\"text/javascript\"> function bindEvents() { $('#" + button.ClientID + "').click(function() { alert('hello'); }); } bindEvents(); </script>"; PlaceMe.Controls.Add(button); }

  • renderInContext creating memory that is not promptly released

    - by iworkinprogress
    While debugging in instruments using 'ObjectAlloc' I'm noticing 7megs of memory being allocated for the renderInContext call, but it never is released. When I comment out the renderInContext call this doesn't happen, and future renderInContext calls does not continue to increase the memory allotment. UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(contentHolder.bounds.size); [contentHolder.layer renderInContext:UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext()]; UIImage *viewImage = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext(); UIGraphicsEndImageContext(); Is there a way to force this memory to be released?

  • Set the title of a UIButton with a single method invocation?

    - by Greg Maletic
    I'd like to set the title of a UIButton via code. I find myself having to call -[UIButton setTitle:forState:] for UIControlStateNormal, UIControlStateHighlighted, UIControlStateDisabled, UIControlStateSelected. And that doesn't even take into account all of the combinations of these states together. Needless to say, this is tiresome. Is there a single call I can make that will set one string as the title for all of the states? (Since, I assume that in 95% of the cases, that's the desired behavior?)

  • [Python] - Getting data from external program

    - by Kenny M.
    Hey, I need a method to get the data from an external editor. def _get_content(): from subprocess import call file = open(file, "w").write(some_name) call(editor + " " + file, shell=True) file.close() file = open(file) x = file.readlines() [snip] I personally think this is a very ugly way. You see I need to interact with an external editor and get the data. Do you know any better approaches/have better ideas?

  • variables in assembler

    - by stupid_idiot
    hi, i know this is kinda retarded but I just can't figure it out. I'm debugging this: xor eax,eax mov ah,[var1] mov al,[var2] call addition stop: jmp stop var1: db 5 var2: db 6 addition: add ah,al ret the numbers that I find on addresses var1 and var2 are 0x0E and 0x07. I know it's not segmented, but that ain't reason for it to do such escapades, because the addition call works just fine. Could you please explain to me where is my mistake?

  • Get JS file via HTTPS from a HTTP page

    - by Mike
    Okay, so what are the ramifications of getting a JS file via an HTTPS call while on a HTTP page. I assume it would just be a little bit of extra overhead. Would there be any warnings about this call from any certain browser? Don't ask why. It's just hypothetical.

  • JSF Ajax refresh issue

    - by johnip
    In my JSF page, I have a dropdown that needs to be populated onload of the page which is set in request scope, now I have a Ajax call that refreshes a part of the page. The Ajax piece works fine but the issue is on refresh it also calls the getter for the Dropdown and returns null ( because its in request scope). To me it makes no sense to call the getter for a component that's not part of the Ajax refresh. Am I doing it correct , please suggest.

  • nSticky/static variable references in for loops

    - by pthulin
    In this example I create three buttons 'one' 'two' 'three'. When clicked I want them to alert their number: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.click(function() { var newVariable = String(nr); alert(i); // 2 alert(nr); // three alert(newVariable); // three alert(li.html()); // three }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html> The problem is, when any of these are clicked, the last value of the loop's variables is used, i.e. alert box always says 'three'. In JavaScript, variables inside for-loops seem to be 'static' in the C language sense. Is there some way to create separate variables for each click function, i.e. not using the same reference? Thanks! Edit: The solution is to use jQuery.data to associate arbitrary data with each element: <html> <head> <script type="application/javascript" src="jquery.js"></script> <script type="application/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { var numbers = ['one', 'two', 'three']; for (i in numbers) { var nr = numbers[i]; var li = $('<li>' + nr + '</li>'); li.data('nr', nr); li.click(function() { alert($(this).data('nr')); }); $('ul').append(li); } }); </script> </head> <body> <ul> </ul> </body> </html>

  • Dependency Injection and Unit of Work pattern

    - by sunwukung
    I have a dilemma. I've used DI (read: factory) to provide core components for a homebrew ORM. The container provides database connections, DAO's,Mappers and their resultant Domain Objects on request. Here's a basic outline of the Mappers and Domain Object classes class Mapper{ public function __constructor($DAO){ $this->DAO = $DAO; } public function load($id){ if(isset(Monitor::members[$id]){ return Monitor::members[$id]; $values = $this->DAO->selectStmt($id); //field mapping process omitted for brevity $Object = new Object($values); return $Object; } } class User(){ public function setName($string){ $this->name = $string; //mark modified by means fair or foul } } The ORM also contains a class (Monitor) based on the Unit of Work pattern i.e. class Monitor(){ private static array modified; private static array dirty; public function markClean($class); public function markModified($class); } The ORM class itself simply co-ordinates resources extracted from the DI container. So, to instantiate a new User object: $Container = new DI_Container; $ORM = new ORM($Container); $User = $ORM->load('user',1); //at this point the container instantiates a mapper class //and passes a database connection to it via the constructor //the mapper then takes the second argument and loads the user with that id $User->setName('Rumpelstiltskin');//at this point, User must mark itself as "modified" My question is this. At the point when a user sets values on a Domain Object class, I need to mark the class as "dirty" in the Monitor class. I have one of three options as I can see it 1: Pass an instance of the Monitor class to the Domain Object. I noticed this gets marked as recursive in FirePHP - i.e. $this-Monitor-markModified($this) 2: Instantiate the Monitor directly in the Domain Object - does this break DI? 3: Make the Monitor methods static, and call them from inside the Domain Object - this breaks DI too doesn't it? What would be your recommended course of action (other than use an existing ORM, I'm doing this for fun...)

  • Mootools Accordion nonfunctional in Opera

    - by nona
    While working as expected in all other browsers, opera refuses to tween the height of content. oddly enough, as i sat annoyed rapidly clicking it over and over again, if it's closed, and you select some text, and keep clicking the same spot long enough, sometimes it pops open. lol. seriously. ahh, it seems to sometimes open the first time clicked after the page is loaded. wth? the javascript: window.addEvent('domready', function(){ var content_height = [];i=0; $$( '.bio_accordion' ).each(function(item){ i++; content_height.push(item.getElement('.moreInfo').offsetHeight); var thisSlider = new Fx.Slide( item.getElement( '.moreInfo' ), { mode: 'horizontal' } ); thisSlider.hide(); item.getElement('.moreInfo').set('tween').tween('height', '0px'); var morph = new Fx.Morph(item.getElement( '.divToggle' )); var selected = 0; item.getElement( '.divToggle' ).addEvents({ 'mouseenter': function(){ if(!selected) this.morph('.div_highlight'); }, 'mouseleave': function(){ if(!selected) { this.morph('.divToggle'); } }, 'click': function(){ if (!selected){ if (this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML == '+') this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '-'; else this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '+'; item.getElement('.moreInfo').set('tween', { duration: 1500, transition: Fx.Transitions.Bounce.easeOut }).tween('height', content_height[i]); selected = 1; thisSlider.slideIn(); } else{ if (this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML == '+') this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '-'; else this.getElement('.symbol').innerHTML = '+'; thisSlider.slideOut(); item.getElement('.moreInfo').set('tween', { duration: 1000, transition: Fx.Transitions.Bounce.easeOut }).tween('height', '0px'); selected = 0; } } }); } ); }); the html: <div class="bio_accordion"> <div class="divToggle">test<span class="symbol">-</span></div> <div class="moreInfo" style="margin-left:10px;"> aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa asdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdf </div> </div> the css: .bio_accordion { padding:0px; margin:0px; } .divToggle { cursor: pointer; color: #ffffff; background-color:#1089b5; padding: 8px; } .div_highlight { padding-left:30px; padding-right:30px; background-color:#096687; } .moreInfo { padding: 2px; padding-top:15px; padding-bottom:15px; overflow: hidden; } .symbol { float:right; }

  • Problem in loading cities using JSON

    - by Saravanan I M
    I am using Geonames for loading the cities using JSON. Geonames data i imported into my database. I am using MS SQL 2008 Server. I display a dropdown for country select. Once the user select the country. I am loading all the cities into the autocomplete textbox. I am facing a delay in the getJSON method. Also it seems like executing asynchronous. So before getting all the data my autocompelte is getting filled. Below is my complete script. I think i have some problem in the loop. Please advice me what i am doing wrong in my code. $(document).ready(function () { $("#ShowLoad").hide(); //Hook onto the MakeID list's onchange event $("#Country").change(function () { findcities = []; $("#ShowLoad").show(); $("#HomeTown").unautocomplete(); var url = '<%= Url.Content("~/") %>' + "Location/GetCitiesCountByCountry/" + $("#Country").val(); $.getJSON(url, null, function (data) { var total = data; if (total > 0) { var pageTotal = Math.ceil(total / 1000); var isFilled = false; for (var i = 0; i < pageTotal; i++) { var skip = i == 1 ? 0 : (i * 1000) - 1000; var url = '<%= Url.Content("~/") %>' + "Location/GetCitiesByCountry/" + $("#Country").val() + "?skip=" + skip; //alert(i); $.getJSON(url, null, function (data) { $.each(data.Cities, function (index, optionData) { if ($("#Country").val() == "US") { findcities.push(optionData.asciiname + "," + optionData.admin1_code); } else { findcities.push(optionData.asciiname); } }); if (i == pageTotal) { //alert(findcities); $("#ShowLoad").hide(); $("#HomeTown").focus().autocomplete(findcities); } }); } $("#HomeTown").setOptions({ max: 100000 }); } }); }).change(); });

  • Creating a list in Python- something sneaky going on?

    - by GlenCrawford
    Apologies if this doesn't make any sense, I'm very new to Python! From testing in an interpreter, I can see that list() and [] both produce an empty list: >>> list() [] >>> [] [] From what I've learned so far, the only way to create an object is to call its constructor (__init__), but I don't see this happening when I just type []. So by executing [], is Python then mapping that to a call to list()?

  • Flip clock showing time issue (animations invovled)

    - by Hwang
    I'm creating a flip clock (clock where you always see in airport), but I can't seems to get the time to show at the correct timing. After the flip, then will see the number changing. But I want it to change before it flips. Currently I'm not sure whether is the animation problem, or isit I have to do something else on the script. I've uploaded the FLA so that you could have a look on how I set up the flipping animation. http://www.mediafire.com/?nzmymjgtntz Below is the AS3 code: package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.TimerEvent; import flash.utils.Timer; public class flipClock extends MovieClip { private var clock:clockMC=new clockMC(); //seconds private var secTop1=clock.second.top1.digit; private var secTop2=clock.second.top2.digit; private var secBot1=clock.second.bot1.digit; private var secBot2=clock.second.bot2.digit; private var seconds:Number; private var minutes:Number; private var hours:Number; private var days:Number; public function flipClock():void { decrease(); addChild(clock); } private function decrease():void { var countdownTimer:Timer=new Timer(1000); //Adding an event listener to the timer object countdownTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER,updateTime); //Initializing timer object countdownTimer.start(); } private function updateTime(event:TimerEvent):void { decreasTimerFunction(); updateSecond(); //updateMinute(); } private function updateSecond():void { clock.second.play(); secTop1.text=num2; secTop2.text=num1; if (num1<10) { num1="0"+num1; } if (num2<10) { num2="0"+num2; } if (num1==60) { num1=0; } if (num2==60) { num2=0; } secTop1.text=num1; secTop2.text=num2; //secBot1.text=num1; //secBot2.text=num2; } private function decreasTimerFunction():void { //Create a date object for Christmas Morning var endTime:Date=new Date(2010,4,26,0,0,0,0); //Current date object var now:Date=new Date(); // Set the difference between the two date and times in milliseconds var timeDiff:Number=endTime.getTime()-now.getTime(); seconds=Math.floor(timeDiff/1000); minutes=Math.floor(seconds/60); hours=Math.floor(minutes/60); days=Math.floor(hours/24); // Set the remainder of the division vars above hours%=24; minutes%=60; seconds%=60; } } }

  • Ajax to read updated values from XML

    - by punit
    I am creating file upload progress bar. I have a CGI script which copies the data, and here I increment the progress bar value by ONE after certain iterations. I am storing the incremented value in XML file (I also tried using plain text file). On the other side I have ajax reading incremented value from xml and depending on that it increments the DIV element. However, what happens here is, it seems to me that although the ajax reads all the incremented values but it processes it after the CGI has finished execution. That is progress bar starts execution once the file copying and other stuff in CGI is completed. My code is: AJAX:::: function polling_start() { //GETS CALLED WHEN USER HITS FILE UPLOAD BUTTON intervalID = window.setInterval(send_request,100); } window.onload = function (){ request = initXMLHttpClient(); request.overrideMimeType('text/xml'); progress = document.getElementById('progress'); } function initXMLHttpClient() { if (window.XMLHttpRequest){ // code for IE7+, Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } else{ // code for IE6, IE5 xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } return xmlhttp } function send_request() { request.open("GET","progress_bar.xml",true); request.onreadystatechange = request_handler; request.send(); } function request_handler() { if (request.readyState == 4 && request.status == 200) { var level=request.responseXML.getElementsByTagName('PROGRESS')[0].firstChild; progress.style.width = progress.innerHTML = level.nodeValue + '%'; progress.style.backgroundColor = "green"; } } /****ON SERVER SIDE*********/ char xmlDat1[] = "<DOCUMENT><PROGRESS>"; char xmlDat2[] = "</PROGRESS></DOCUMENT>"; fptr = fopen("progress_bar.xml", "w"); .........OTHER STUFF.............................. ................................. if(i == inc && j<=100) { fprintf(fptr, "%s\n", "\n\n\n]"); //fprintf(fptr, "%s\n", ""); fprintf(fptr, "%s", xmlDat1); // fprintf(fptr, "%d" ,j); fprintf(fptr, "%s" ,xmlDat2); fseek(fptr, 0, SEEK_SET); /*fprintf(fptr, "%d" ,j); fseek(fptr, 0, SEEK_SET);*/ i = 0; //sleep(1); j++; } (I also tried to write in .text, but same response) Any quick response would be appreciable.

  • Why might the Large Object Heap grow rather than throw an exception?

    - by Unsliced
    In a previous question I asked possible programatic ways of maximising the largest block allocatable on the LOH. I'm still seeing the problems, but now I'm trying to get my head around why the LOH seems to grow and shrink in size, yet I'm still seeing OutOfMemoryExceptions that tally with what others have reported as being due to LOH fragmentation. Why might one call to, for example, StringBuilder.EnsureCapacity throw an OutOfMemoryException for me, but another call from somewhere else result in the LOH expanding in size (according to the performance counters, it is growing and shrinking)?

  • hook_user not being called for 'login' operation

    - by Allain Lalonde
    I've read in the drupal documentation that hook_user should be invoked for the login operation. To test this I've added a call to drupal_set_message at the top of my modules hook implementation and the only message I'm receiving is a call with 'load' as the $op. I've confirmed that drupal_set_message can be called multiple times and it doesn't erase the previous message, so I'm confident that hook_user is only being invoked the one time. Any good reasons for why hook_user isn't being invoked with 'login' as an operation when I'm logging in?
