  • Fix a font size for .NET GUI

    Hi, Depending on the font settings (DPI and such) on the user's computers, I can have text become too big to fit in a button and moves down to the next line (wrap), so if it is a small button that says "Do xyz", it will only show "Do" unless I increase the height on the user's computer, but it looks fine on mine. Is there any way to force it to stick to original font size?

    I'm reading data from a serial port, but the DataReceived event of SerialPort is handled on it's own thread. I want to handle this on the main thread, but simply declaring an event and raising it still results in it being processed on the SerialPort thread. I'm assuming I need to declare a delegate I can call, but I don't see how that would work. For example, I want to call Sub HandleDataReceived() on the main thread from the DataReceived thread, having HandleDataReceived() run on the main thread. How would I do this?

    Is there a framework which can be used in your application, to make it expose internal objects on some port for inspection. for.e.g. after i start my application in this case a GUI Application, and then say launch http://localhost:9100 then it should show me the statistics of the app. I played a bit with HttpListener accepting connections and then outputting raw HTML, it works fine for simple tasks, but there is too much worked involved if i have make a proper object browser.     Hi, if I put a custom class in session, then in an action method I get an instance of that class from session, and populate some fields, I noticed that when a different controller gets that class from session, those fields are populated. Even though after the first call didn't save the updated class back in session. is this typical behavior for session objects? I thought I had to use keyword 'static' on the class in session for this to happen thanks

    I keep running into situations where I don't know what event I have to listen to in order to execute my code at the correct time. Is there any way to get a log of all events that is raised? Any way to filter that log based on what object raised the event? Now when i goto login page from page1, after i login and goto page3 i should be able to open a popup on that submit and the login should change to page3. but if i goto login page directly, the popup should not open and the login will goto page3 as normal design. how can i achieve this?

I am also open to different ways of achieving the same result. I tried via an sqldatasource but ran into problems when using variables as params (there is no option to select them, only controls, querystring etc)

    Hey guys, I'm trying to validate a model object outside of the context of ModelState within a controller, I currently have a parser that creates model objects from an excel file and I want to be able to report how many entries were added to the database and how many failed, is there a way to validate a model object on its data annotations outside of model binding? I'm looking for something similar to the rails model method of model.valid? or a way for me to implement that myself. My current solution is just manually checking if a few key fields are present but this duplicates requirements between my model class and its metadata, there has to be a better way to hook into the model validation checking that is done by mvc 2.
