  • How to determine whether a linked list contains a loop?

    - by ET
During a preparation for a job interview, I encountered the following question: How can you determine whether a linked list (of any type) contains a loop, using additional space complexity of O(1)? You cannot assume that the loop starts at the first node (and of course, the loop doesn't have to contain all nodes). I couldn't find the answer, though I have the feeling it's quite simple...

  • programming/selling mobile apps internationally

    - by dootcher
If I'm looking to sell my app in other markets other than the U.S. on both Android and iOS, do I need to do anything inside the app coding-wise? I don't imagine that I need to but I just want to make sure. Also, while I'm at it, how do I collect on international app purchases considering they are in another currency? Will the currency be automatically converted to U.S. dollars or is that my job? Any insight on either of these questions would be greatly appreciated.

  • how to pass vector of string to foo(char const *const *const)?

    - by user347208
Hi, This is my first post so please be nice. I searched in this forum and googled but I still can not find the answer. This problem has bothered me for more than a day, so please give me some help. Thank you. I need to pass a vector of string to a library function foo(char const *const *const). I can not pass the &Vec[0] since it's a pointer to a string. Therefore, I have an array and pass the c_str() to that array. The following is my code (aNames is the vector of string): const char* aR[aNames.size()]; std::transform(aNames.begin(), aNames.end(), aR, boost::bind(&std::string::c_str, _1)); foo(aR); However, it seems it causes some undefined behavior: If I run the above code, then the function foo throw some warnings about illegal characters ('èI' blablabla) in aR. If I print aR before function foo like this: std::copy(aR, aR+rowNames.size(), std::ostream_iterator<const char*>(std::cout, "\n")); foo(aR); Then, everything is fine. My questions are: Does the conversion causes undefined behavior? If so, why? What is the correct way to pass vector of string to foo(char const *const *const)? Thank you very much for your help!

  • Call to a member function ... on a non-object

    - by jayceekay
i have an object which is instantiated in an initialize file, which is called with every request. the name is right, so why is it telling me that oourls isn't an object and that redirectLoggedIn isn't its method? a var dump on oourls says NULL. but it's instantiated, and the backtrace at the bottom shows that it goes through initialization and instantiates it. pretty small snippet of code, here's the relevant bit: if($email) { global $session; $session->grantLogin($email); global $oourls; $oourls->redirectLoggedIn(); } else { return false; } and here's the output of debug_print_backtrace i threw in above the oourls method call because i'm completely confused: #0 accounts::verifyEmailRegisterAccount(37a6274c8f4bfa5c537b40e8e04d634a) called at [\public\includes\default\verifyemail.php:16] #1 require_once(\public\includes\default\verifyemail.php) called at [\support\php\ObjectOrientedURLs.class.php:48] #2 ObjectOrientedURLs->mhqqrVerifyemail(Array ([0] => 37a6274c8f4bfa5c537b40e8e04d634a)) #3 ReflectionMethod->invoke(ObjectOrientedURLs Object (), Array ([0] => 37a6274c8f4bfa5c537b40e8e04d634a)) called at [\support\php\ObjectOrientedURLs.class.php:280] #4 ObjectOrientedURLs->parseAndInvokeURL() called at [\support\php\ObjectOrientedURLs.class.php:255] #5 ObjectOrientedURLs->__construct() called at [\support\php\initialize.php:76] #6 require_once(\support\php\initialize.php) called at [\public\index.php:2]

  • codeigniter avoiding html div's

    - by rabidmachine9
    Hello there!Is there a proper syntax to avoid div's in codeigniter? I don't really like opening and closing tags all the time... <div class="theForm"> <?php echo form_open('edit/links');//this form uploads echo "Enter the Name: ". form_input('name','name'); echo "Enter the Link: ". form_input('url','url'); echo " ".form_submit('submit', 'Submit'); echo form_close(); if (isset($linksQuery) && count($linksQuery)){ foreach($linksQuery as $link){ echo anchor($link['link'], $link['name'].".", array("class" => "links")); echo form_open('edit/links',array('class' => 'deleteForm')); echo form_hidden('name',$link['name']); echo " ".form_submit('delete','Delete'); echo form_close(); echo br(2); } } ?> </div>

  • Can anyone help with this (Javascript arrays)?

    - by Rich
Hi I am new to Netui and Javascript so go easy on me please. I have a form that is populated with container.item data retuned from a database. I am adding a checkbox beside each repeater item returned and I want to add the container item data to an array when one of the checkboxes is checked for future processing. The old code used Anchor tag to capture the data but that does not work for me. <!--netui:parameter name="lineupNo" value="{container.item.lineupIdent.lineupNo}" /> here is my checkbox that is a repeater. <netui:checkBox dataSource="{pageFlow.checkIsSelected}" onClick="checkBoxClicked()" tagId="pceChecked"/> this is my Javascript function so far but I want to a way to store the container.item.lineupIdent.lineupNo in the array. function checkBoxClicked() { var checkedPce = []; var elem = document.getElementById("PceList").elements; for (var i = 0; i < elem.length; i ++) { if (elem[i].name == netui_names.pceChecked) { if (elem[i].checked == true) { //do some code. } } } } I hope this is enough info for someone to help me. I have searched the web but could not find any examples. Thanks.

  • Pass Element value to $ajax->link in cakephp

    - by TwoThumbs
I need to pass the value of an element to an $ajax-link without using a form/submit structure. (because I have a dynamically set number of clickable links through which I am triggering the action) I used to do this in Ruby using the Prototype javascript function $F like this: <%= link_to_remote "#{item.to_s}", :url => { :action => :add_mpc }, :with => "'category=' + $F('mpc_category')" -%> But this does not seem to work in Cakephp: <?php echo $ajax->link(substr($vehicle['vehicles']['year'], -2), array('action' => 'add_mpc', 'category' => '$F("mpc_category")'), array('update' => 'results', 'position' => 'top')); ?> PHP sees $F as a variable instead of a call to javascript. I'm not too familiar with Javascript, but is there another way to pass the value of the 'mpc_category' input element to the controller through this link? I have been looking for a couple days and can't find anyone dealing with this specific issue. Thanks for any assistance. Edit: fixed syntax in php statement.

  • .Net file writing and string splitting issues

    - by sagar
I have a requirement where the file should be split using a given character. Default splitting options are CRLF and LF In both these cases I am splitting the line by \r\n and \r respectively. Also I have requirement where any size of file should be processed. (Processing is basically inserting the given string in a file at given position). For this I am reading the file in chunk of 1024 bytes. Then I am applying the string.Split() method. Split() method gives options for ignoring white spaces and none. I have to add back these line break characters to the line. for this I am using a binary writer and I am writing the byte array to the new file. Issue:- 1) When line break is CRLF, and the split option is NONE, while spaces are also added in the splitted array. Second option is given (to ignore white spaces) CRLF works properly. 2)Bit ignoring white space option creates other problems, as I am reading the file byte by byte I can't ignore a white space. 3)When line break characters are other than default(e.g. '|', a null value is prepended to the resulting line. Can anybody give solution to my issues?

  • Storing large json strings to database + hash

    - by Guy
I need to store quiete large JSON data strings to the database. I am using gzip to compress the string and therefore BLOB MySQL data type to store it. However, only 5% of all the requests contain unique data and only unique data ought to be stored to the database. My approach is as follows. array_multisort data (array [a, b, c] is virtually the same as [a, c, b]). json_encode data (json_encode is faster than serialize; we need string array representation for the step 3). sha1 data (slower than md5, though less possible the collisions). Check if the hash exists in the database. 5.1 yes – do not insert the data. 5.2. no – gzip the data and store it along the hash. Is there anything about this (apart from storing JSON data to the database in the first place) that sounds fishy or should be done a different way? p.s. We are talking about a database with roughly 1kk unique records being created every month.

  • Where to store common application settings

    - by Chris
I want to move my application settings out of XAML and into a config file. For example, ToolTips and Content strings for Buttons/CheckBoxes and Labels. Is this the job of a ResourceDictionary, or should I use the App.Config or Settings.settings file? The ToolTips and Content strings are not really per user, they are more Application wide and may change if the UI is internationalized. Thanks!

  • Looking for a specific python gui module to perform the following task

    - by Sadaf Amouz
I am looking for a GUI python module that is best suited for the following job: I am trying to plot a graph with many columns (perhaps hundreds), each column representing an individual. The user should be able to drag the columns around and drop them onto different columns to switch the two. Also, there are going to be additional dots drawn on the columns and by hovering over those dots, the user should see the values corresponding to those dots. What is the best way to approach this?

  • Reverse wildcard search in codeigniter

    - by Andy Platt
I am implementing a snippet-based content management system into my current project. Snippets can be associated with a page either by exact match of the full url falling back to a wildcard match on a partial url or finally a default snippet. To implement this I have a created table of page associations with a wildcard flag, the system first checks the current url against the non-wildcard associations and if it doesn't find a match it checks against the partial url's where the wildcard flag is set. In order to achieve this I am getting all the partial url's from the database and putting them into an array then walking the array to check for a match against the current url: protected function _check_wildcard($url = NULL) { if($url) { $q = $this->db->where('wildcard' ,'Y') ->from('content') ->get(); $wildcards = $q->result_array(); foreach($wildcards AS $wildcard) { if(strpos($url,$wildcard['url']) > 0) { return $wildcard['snipppet_id']; } } } else { return NULL; } } Can anyone suggest a better way to do this - preferably one that doesn't involve having to constantly download the full list of all the wildcards each time I load a page as I am afraid that this will have a negative effect on the scalability of the system down the line?

  • Determining difference in timestamps for two values in the same MySQL table

    - by JayRizzo03
I am relatively new to programming in PHP, so I apologize if this is a rather simple question. I have a MySQL database table called MachineReports that contains the following values: ReportNum(primary key, auto increment), MachineID and Timestamp Here is some example data: |ReportNum | MachineID | Timestamp | |1 | AD3203 | 2012-11-18 06:32:28| |2 | AD3203 | 2012-11-19 04:00:15| |3 | BC4300 | 2012-11-19 04:00:15| What I am attempting to do is find the difference in timestamps in seconds for each machine ID by iterating over each row set. I am getting stuck on the best way to do this, however. Here is the code I've written so far: <?php include '../dbconnect/dbconnect.php'; $machineID=[]; //Get a list of all MachineIDs in the database foreach($dbh->query('SELECT DISTINCT(MachineID) FROM MachineReports') as $row) { array_push($machineID, $row[0]); } for($i=0;$i<count($machineID);$i++){ foreach($dbh->query("SELECT MachineID FROM MachineReports WHERE MachineID='$machineID[$i]' ORDER BY MachineID") as $row) { //code to associate each machineID with two time stamps goes here } } ? This code just lists out the contents of the table row by row. My ultimate goal is to find the difference in timestamps for a certain MachineID. One of the things I've considered is using a multidimensional array in php - using the $machineID as the key and then storing the timestamp inside the array the key points to. However, I'm uncertain how to do that since my query parses row by row. I have quite a few questions. 1) Is this the most efficient way to be doing this? I suspect my database table design may not be the best. 2)What would be the best way to determine the difference in timestamps for a certain machineID? Even just a pointer to a topic that would prompt me to think about this in a different way would be helpful - I'm not afraid to do research. Thanks!

  • Yii 'limit' on related model's scope

    - by pethee
I have a model called Guesses that has_many Comments. I'm making eager queries to this to then pass on as JSON as response to an API call. The relations are obviously set between the two models and they are correct(one2many <= belongs2) I added a scope to Comments called 'api' like this: public function scopes() { return array( 'api' => array( 'select' => 'id, comment, date', 'limit'=>3, 'order'=>'date DESC', 'together'=>true, ), ); } And I'm running the following one-liner query: $data = Guesses::model()->with('comments:api')->findAll(); The issue here is that when calling the 'api' scope using a with('relation'), the limit property simply doesn't apply. I added the 'together'=true there for another type of scope, plus I hear it might help. It doesn't make a difference. I don't need all the comments of all Guesses. I want the top 3 (or 5). I am also trying to keep the one-liner call intact and simple, manage everything through scopes, relations and parameterized functions so that the API call itself is clean and simple. Any advice?

  • str_replace between two numerical strings

    - by user330840
    Another problem with str_replace, I would like to change the following $title data into URL by taking the $string between number in the beginning and after dash (-) Chicago's Public Schools - $10.3M New Jersey - $3M Michigan: Public Health - $1M The desire output is: chicago-public-school new-jersey michigan-public-health PHP code I am using $title = ucwords(strtolower(strip_tags(str_replace("1: ","",$title)))); $x=1; while($x <= 10) { $title = ucwords(strtolower(strip_tags(str_replace("$x: ","",$title)))); $x++; } $link = preg_replace('/[<>()!#?:.$%\^&=+~`*&#233;"\']/', '',$title); $money = str_replace(" ","-",$link); $link = explode(" - ",$link); $link = preg_replace(" (\(.*?\))", "", $link[0]); $amount = preg_replace(" (\(.*?\))", "", $link[1]); $code_entities_match = array( '&#39;s' ,'&quot;' ,'!' ,'@' ,'#' ,'$' ,'%' ,'^' ,'&' ,'*' ,'(' ,')' ,'+' ,'{' ,'}' ,'|' ,':' ,'"' ,'<' ,'>' ,'?' ,'[' ,']' ,'' ,';' ,"'" ,',' ,'.' ,'_' ,'/' ,'*' ,'+' ,'~' ,'`' ,'=' ,' ' ,'---' ,'--','--'); $code_entities_replace = array('' ,'-' ,'-' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'-' ,'-' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'-' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'-' ,'' ,'-' ,'-' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'' ,'-' ,'-' ,'-','-'); $link = str_replace($code_entities_match, $code_entities_replace, $link); $link = strtolower($link); Unfortunately the result I got: -chicagoamp9s-public-school 2-new-jersey 3-michigan-public-health Anyone has a better solution for this?
