MSBuild: automate collecting of db migration scripts?

Summary of environment. Asp.net web application (source stored in svn) sqlserver database. (Database schema (tables/sprocs) stored in svn) db version is synced with web application assembly version. (stored in table 'CurrentVersion') CI hudson server that checks out web app from repo and runs custom msbuild file to publish/package app. My msbuild script updates the assembly version of the web app (Major.Minor.Revision.Build) on each build. The 'Revision' is set to the currently checked out svn revision and the 'Build' to the hudson build number (incremented on each automated build). This way i can match the app to a specific trunk revision also get other build stats from the hudson build number. I'd like to automate the collecting of migration scripts (updated sprocs etc) to add to the zip package. I guess by comparing the svn revision of the db that has yet to be deployed to, to the revision being deployed, i can find what db files have changed in the trunk since the last deployment to that database/environment. This could easily be achieved by manually calling the svn diff -r REVNO:REVNO command to list changed .sql files. These files could then manually have to be added to the package. It would be great if this could be automated. Firstly i'd imagine I'll have to write a custom task to check the version of the db that has yet to be deployed to. After that I'm quite unsure. Does anyone have any suggestion on how this would be achieved through an msbuild task either existing or custom? Finally I'll have to autogen a script to add to the package that updates the database version table so as to be in sync with the application.

JQuery AJAX returned too much data that I had not requested

Hi all, I am using CakePHP 1.26 and CDN JQuery in this URL: http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1/jquery.min.js In a HTML web page, I have these lines of code: $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://mywebsite.com/controllers/avail/"+curl, success: function(data) { alert(data);} }); and in the PHP page, I got another few lines of code: function avail($uname){ $result1=$this->Site1->User->findByusername($uname); if($result1){ return 1; } else{ return 0; } } As you see, the Avail function will return either zero or one. JavaScript window object element properties

A coworker showed me the following code and asked me why it worked. <span id="myspan">Do you like my hat?</span> <script type="text/javascript"> var spanElement = document.getElementById("myspan"); alert("Here I am! " + spanElement.innerHTML + "\n" + myspan.innerHTML); </script> I explained that a property is attached to the window object with the name of the element's id when the browser parses the document which then contains a reference to the appropriate dom node. It's sort of as if window.myspan = document.getElementById("myspan") is called behind the scenes as the page is being rendered. The ensuing discussion we had raised a few of questions: The window object and most of the DOM are not part of the official JavaScript/ECMA standards, but is the above behavior documented in any other official literature, perhaps browser-related? The above works in a browser (at least the main contenders) because there is a window object, but fails in something like rhino. Is writing code that relys on this considered bad practice because it makes too many assumptions about the execution environment? Are there any browsers in which the above would fail, or is this considered standard behavior across the board? Does anyone here know the answers to those questions and would be willing to enlighten me? I tried a quick internet search, but I admit I'm not sure how to even properly phrase the query. Pointers to references and documentation are welcome.

context.Scale() with non-aspect ratio preserving parameters screws effective lineWith

I am trying to apply some natural transformations whereby the x axis is remapped to some very small domain, like from 0 to 1, whereas y is remapped to some small, but substantially larger domain, like 0 to 30. This way, drawing code can be nice and clean and only care about the model space. However, if I apply a scale, then lines are also scaled, which means that horizontal lines become extremely fat relative to vertical ones. Here is some sample code. When natural_height is much less than natural_height, the picture doesn't look as intended. I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that grabs any selected text on a web page and sends it to my website. It should (hopefully) work in Chrome, FFX, Safari, and IE. I did a search and found a function, but it doesn't appear to work. Redirecting or routing all traffic to OpenVPN on a Mac OS X client

I have configured an OpenVPN (2.2.1) server on an Ubuntu virtual machine in the Amazon elastic compute cloud. The server is up and running. I have installed OpenVPN (2.2.1) on a Mac OS X (10.8.2) client and I am using the openvpn2 binary to connect (in opposition to other clients like Tunnelblick or Viscosity). I can connect with the client and successfully ping or ssh the server through the tunnel. However, I can't redirect all internet traffic through the VPN even if I use the push "redirect-gateway def1 bypass-dhcp" option in the server.conf configurations. When I connect to the server with these configurations, I get a successful connection, but then an infinite series of error messages: "write UDPv4: No route to host (code=65)". Traffic routing seems to be compromised because I am not able to access anything anymore, not even the OpenVPN server (by pinging 10.8.0.1 for instance). This is beyond me. I am finding little help on the web and don't know what to try next. I don't think it is a problem of forwarding the traffic on the server since, first, I have also took care of that and, second, I can't even ping the VPN server locally through the tunnel (or ping anything at all for that matter). Use of putty in command line

Hi, I'm trying to use putty in command line from an hudson job. The command is the following one: putty -ssh -2 -P 22 USERNAME@SERVER_ADDR -pw PASS -m command.txt Where 'command.txt' is a shell script to execute in the server through SSH. If i launch this command from the Window command prompt, it works, the shell script is executed on the server machine. If i launch a build of the hudson job configured with this batch command, it doesn't work. The build is running... and running... and running.. without doing anything, and i have to stop it manually. So my question is: Is it possible to launch an external programm (i.e. putty) from an hudson job ? ps: i tried SSH plugin but... not a really good plugin (pre/post build, fail status of the commands launched not caught by hudson, etc.) Thanks in advance for your help. Flex: Method doesn't work when being called on parentDocument

Hi, I wonder is anyone can look at this code and tell me why calling the removeSelectedChild works when called from the same document, but returns the following error when called from the child document/component. Sorry that the example is a little contrived, this problem arose in a quite complicated view, which was using all kinds of custom components. This was the only way I could display it in a way that will be quick for you to compile and easy to focus on the real issue without background noise. The w3c validator service complains that the following html is invalid. It does not like the ampersand(&) in my javascript. Is it possible in Perl to require a subroutine call is made?

I don't know enough about Perl to even know what I'm asking for exactly, but I'm writing a series of subroutines to be available for many individual scripts that all process different incoming flat files. The process is far from perfect, but it's what I've got to deal with and I'm trying to build myself a small library of subs that make it easier for me to manage it all. Each script handles a different incoming flat file with it's own formatting, sorting, grouping and outputting requirements. One common aspect is that we have small text files that house counters that are used to name the output files so that we have no duplicate file names. Because the processing of the data is different for each file, I need to open the file to get my counter value, because this is a common operation, I'd like to put it in a sub to retrieve the counter. But then need to write specific code to process the data. And would like a second sub that allows me to update the counter with the counter once I've processed the data. Is there a way to make the second sub call a requirement if the first one is called? Ideally if it could even be an error that would prevent the script from running at all much like a syntax error. PHP curl timing mismatch

I am running a php script that: queries a local database to retrieve an amount executes a curl statement to update an external database with the above amount + x queries the local database again to insert a new row reflecting that the curl statement has been executed. One of the problems that I am having is that the curl statement takes 2-4 seconds to execute, so I have two different users from the same company running the same script at the same time, the execution time of the curl command can cause a mismatch in what should be updated in the external database. This is the because the curl statement has not yet returned from the first user...so the second user is working off incorrect figures. I am not sure of the best options here, but basically I need to prevent two or more curl statements being run at the same time. I thought of storing a value in the database that indicates that the curl statement is being executed at that time, and prevent any other curl statements being run until its completed. Once the first curl statement has been executed, then the database flag is updated and the next one can run. If this field is 'locked', then I could loop through the code and sleep for (5) seconds, and then check again if the flag has been reset. If after (3) loops, then reset the flag automatically (i've never seen the curl take longer than 5 seconds) and continue processing. Are there any other (more elegant) ways of approaching this?

I am making a site with two Youtube videos. These videos use the raw embed code from Youtube. The site's design doesn't work with any of the default Youtube sizes, so I am writing code to automatically resize the video. Here is my code. drupal themes: how do I include several css files / js files on my theme's .info file?

I'm creating a new Drupal theme. Until now, I only needed to include a single css file and a single js file. So my theme.info file had something like this: stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css scripts[] = js/script.js Now I must include jquery and jquery-ui in order to use a calendar date. These come with 2 new javascript files, and 1 additonal css file that I must add to the site. The calendar input form is going to be used in all pages (on a side block) so it is ok for me to load the extra css/javascript on all pages. I think the easiest thing would be to reference them on the .info file itself. At first I tried to just put them there with separate spaces: stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.css scripts[] = js/script.js js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js js/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js I emptied drupal's cache and... none of them loaded. I then tried separating each file with a comma, and flushing the cache again. Same result. I've browsed some drupal pages, but could not find how to add several javascript/css files on one theme (they always seem to add just 1 of each). So, how do I include several css/javascript files on the .info file?

PHP mail() function not delivering mail

Hi there, I have a slight problem. I am using a working script (works on my testing account - shared server) to send a mail through PHP using the mail() function. I just got a dedicated server, and I haven't been able to get the function to work. I've spent the last 10 or so hours reading various documentations on BIND (for the SPF record), dovecot, sendmail and postfix trying various things to get this to work. There is clearly something that I am missing. So we know the PHP code works fine. All the headers are fine everything. We know this as it's a direct copy from my testing account. So the problem must arise somewhere in the server config. The path to sendmail is correct, and sendmail is (apparently) working fine. I've set up the script to now deliver "Sent" or "Error" based on the boolean result from the PHP mail() function. That is: if(mail($blah,$blah,$blah,$blah,$blah)) { echo "Sent"; } else { echo "Error";} And the result ALWAYS comes up as "Sent" - however, the email never arrives. Can someone suggest things to check, as I'm completely new to this (24 hours or so!). Thanks in advance. Ryan

It doesn't happen, I get "2" when clicking on either. After spending an hour meditating on the code, I decided that it probably happens because dynamic onclick methods for both anchors keep the last value of "i". So I change that loop to for (var i in buttons) { var local_i = i.toString() actions[buttons[i]] = function() { alert(local_i) } } hoping that each dynamic function will get its own copy of "i" with immediate value. But after this change I get "1" popping up when I click on either link. What am I doing wrong? It's a huge show stopper for me.

In Perl v 5.10.1 on Windows, my variable loses it's value

I hope this is something straightforward that I'm doing wrong. I saw something online about "variable suicide" that looked good, but it was for an older version and I'm on 5.10.1. Anyway - a variable that I declared - $RootDirectory - just suddenly loses it's value, and I can't figure out why. Here's a script to reproduce the problem. When I run through the script in debug mode (perl -d) I can get it to print out the $RootDirectory at line 21 and 26. ASP Force Download

In PHP I can do: header("Content-type: application/octet-stream") and then anything that I output is downloaded instead of showing in the browser. Is there a similar way to do this in ASP? I have seen about all the file streaming and such using ADODB.Stream, but that doesn't seem to work for me and always requires another file to load the content from. Bit of an ASP noob, so go easy on me. :p All I want to do is have a script that outputs a CSV and that will force download instead of showing in the browser.
