• PHP scripts run only in webroot directory,and return 500 error in other dirs

  I have uploaded a folder with php scripts and they run only when they are in the webroot directory,Everytime i try to execute php script in some internal dir,i get internal server error,even if it works in the parent directory EDIT:So,i it's apache 2 server,nothing is logged in my error log about the errors in the internal directory , permissions for php file and for the direcory are -rw-r--r-- drwxrwxr-x

• Sending mail from command line if body not empty

  I'd like to write a simple script that alerts me if a log changes. For this I'm using grep to find the lines I'm interested in. Right now it works like this: grep line /var/log/file | mail -s Log [email protected] Problem is that this sends a mail even if no matching lines are found. The mail utility from mailutils seems to have no switch telling it to drop mails that have an empty body. Is there a quick and easy way to do so?

• Disabling VLC's crash message

  I have a Mac Mini running videos on loop to display publicly, which occasionally crashes I think generally when other OSX functions kicking in. I have a script to detect when VLC is not running and reboot it, but there is often a system message on top "VLC crashed previously". Is there a way to disable this (I can find no option in VLC's advanced options), or perhaps to feed a 'Continue' response to it via Applescript?

  I'm experimenting with large changes to Linux system runtime parameters exposed through the sysfs virtual file system. What is the most efficient way to maintain these parameters so that they persist across reboots on a RHEL/CentOS-style system? Is it simply dumping commands into /etc/rc.local? Is there an init script that's well-suited for this? I'm also thinking about standardization from a configuration management perspective. Is there a clean sysfs equivalent to sysctl?

  i have a script that uploads images, creates a hash for it, creates 3 directories, and stores the image to imgs/f3s/v5g/234/536_f3sv5g2344270fd093ee8a9bf8de3de32dad.jpg (the “536_” is the user id) so im trying to turn imgs/f3s/v5g/234/536_f3sv5g2344270fd093ee8a9bf8de3de32dad.jpg into user_pics/536/536_f3sv5g2344270fd093ee8a9bf8de3de32dad.jpg how can i do that? i want that if someone wants to view the photo, they see the new directory in the url, not the one with 3 sub directories.

In this app, I need to specify the environment variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH = /usr/local/oracle/lib But when I run the app with sudo script/server, it doesn't run because that library path is not in roots' env. What should I do to make it work? I tried to put the path under root ./bashrc and it didn't work.

  Hi, Win 2003 SBS has started requiring password for a domain user. It's weird because it doesn't requires it every time...sometimes it will work (automatic shares through logon script) and sometimes it won't...lets the user in after 2-3 tries (wrong password errors) and the loads the share with the same pass... I'll give you mine - building Netware version 2.xx on 5.25" disks with multiple NICs - this often took HOURS of swapping disks, pacing around, swapping disks, more pacing etc. Then finally it would hopefully work - if you'd not set the IRQs/DMAs right you had to start again, wow I loved version 3 which didn't need all that.   I'd like to read small text file, located at: /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch without root permissions. It contains information about graphic cards (dedicated ATI Radeon and integrated Intel HD3000). I wrote a simple script displaying infomation I need, but it works only with root privileges. I already tried changing file & folder permissions, but when I restart my computer, the problem remains. Is it possible to permanently change that file permissions or owner?
