• Configuration file for PHP server script

  Right now I have a very high volume of requests coming to my webserver which execute a PHP CGI script. Every one of these scripts opens up a config file that I have created to load options of how the script should run. Doing a file I/O operation everytime a request comes in seems very resource intensive to me. I'm not too familiar with the advanced features of PHP, are there any alternatives to achieve what I'm doing?

I want to create a new variable GDP1960, which gives the GDP in 1960 of each country for each year: USA $100m 1960 USA $100m 1960 $100m USA $200m 1965 --> USA $200m 1965 $100m Canada $60m 1960 Canada $60m 1960 $60m What's the right syntax to make this happen?   How can I verify the certificates of a site like https://processing.ukash.com/ in ruby with net/http? https = Net::HTTP.new('processing.ukash.com', 443) https.use_ssl = true https.verify_mode = OpenSSL::SSL::VERIFY_NONE Works so far, but how do I verify that it's the right cert now? I saved the certificate from within firefox, but the resulting .pem file has many certificates in it and net/http doesn't seem to like it.

  I'm writing for an atmel at91sam9260 arm 9 cored single board computer [glomation gesbc9260] Using request_mem_region(0xFFFFFC00,0x100,"name"); //port range runs from fc00 to fcff that works fine and shows up in /proc/iomem then i try to write to the last bit of the port at fc20 with writel(0x1, 0xFFFFFC20); and i segfault...specifically "unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address fffffc20. I'm of the mind that i'm not allocating the right memory space... any helpful insight would be great...

  I have a large table (300 million lines) that I would like to dump to a csv - I need to do some processing that cannot be done with SQL. Right now I am using Squirrel as a client, and it does not apparently deal very well with large datasets - at least as far as I can tell from my own (limited) experience. If I run the query on the actual host, will it use less memory? Thanks for any help.

  What is the minimum number of bits needed to represent a single character of encrypted text. eg, if I wanted to encrypt the letter 'a', how many bits would I require. (assume there are many singly encrypted characters using the same key.) Am I right in thinking that it would be the size of the key. eg 256 bits?

• Why is Serializable Attribute required for an object to be serialized

  Based on my understanding SerializableAttribute provides no compile time checks, as its all done at runtime, then why is it required for classes to be marked as serializable? Couldn't sterilizer just try to serialize an object and just fail? isn't it what it does right-now when something is marked, it tries and fails. wouldn't it be better if you had to mark things as unserializable rather than serializable? that way you wouldn't have the problem of libraries not marking things as serializable?

• Why is my site displaying differently In Firefox than in Safari?

  I manage a website called ShareDen.com (http://shareden.com/home) and it looks the right way in Mozilla Firefox and it's totally completely discombobulated in Safari. I Haven't tested it in other broswer's (still in process) however my guess is it looks horrible in IE 8. Could it be because I just added the CSS Sticky Footer to my site?
