  • Rest API Web Service - iOS

    - by zeekerg
Its my first time to use web service in iOS. REST was my first choice and I use code igniter to form it. I have my Controller: require APPPATH.'/libraries/REST_Controller.php'; class Sample extends REST_Controller { function example_get() { $this->load->helper('arh'); $this->load->model('users'); $users_array = array(); $users = $this->users->get_all_users(); foreach($users as $user){ $new_array = array( 'id'=>$user->id , 'name'=>$user->name, 'age'=>$user->age, ); array_push( $users_array, $new_array); } $data['users'] = $users_array; if($data) { $this->response($data, 200); } } function user_put() { $this->load->model('users'); $this->users->insertAUser(); $message = array('message' => 'ADDED!'); $this->response($message, 200); } } , using my web browser, accessing the URL http://localhost:8888/restApi/index.php/sample/example/format/json really works fine and gives this output: {"users":[{"id":"1","name":"Porcopio","age":"99"},{"id":"2","name":"Name1","age":"24"},{"id":"3","name":"Porcopio","age":"99"},{"id":"4","name":"Porcopio","age":"99"},{"id":"5","name":"Luna","age":"99"}]} , this gives me a great output using RKRequest by RestKit in my app. The problem goes with the put method. This URL : http://localhost:8888/restApi/index.php/sample/user always give me an error like this: This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below. <xml> <status/> <error>Unknown method.</error> This is my Users model <?php class Users extends CI_Model { function __construct() { parent::__construct(); } function get_all_users() { $this->load->database(); $query = $this->db->get('users'); return $query->result(); } function insertAUser(){ $this->load->database(); $data = array('name'=> "Sample Name", 'age'=>"99"); $this->db->insert('users', $data); } } ?> What is the work around for my _put method why am I not inserting anything? Thanks all!

  • XML validation in Java - why does this fail?

    - by jd
hi, first time dealing with xml, so please be patient. the code below is probably evil in a million ways (I'd be very happy to hear about all of them), but the main problem is of course that it doesn't work :-) public class Test { private static final String JSDL_SCHEMA_URL = "http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl"; private static final String JSDL_POSIX_APPLICATION_SCHEMA_URL = "http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl-posix"; public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(Test.createJSDLDescription("/bin/echo", "hello world")); } private static String createJSDLDescription(String execName, String args) { Document jsdlJobDefinitionDocument = getJSDLJobDefinitionDocument(); String xmlString = null; // create the elements Element jobDescription = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("JobDescription"); Element application = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("Application"); Element posixApplication = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElementNS(JSDL_POSIX_APPLICATION_SCHEMA_URL, "POSIXApplication"); Element executable = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("Executable"); executable.setTextContent(execName); Element argument = jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.createElement("Argument"); argument.setTextContent(args); //join them into a tree posixApplication.appendChild(executable); posixApplication.appendChild(argument); application.appendChild(posixApplication); jobDescription.appendChild(application); jsdlJobDefinitionDocument.getDocumentElement().appendChild(jobDescription); DOMSource source = new DOMSource(jsdlJobDefinitionDocument); validateXML(source); try { Transformer transformer = TransformerFactory.newInstance().newTransformer(); transformer.setOutputProperty(OutputKeys.INDENT, "yes"); StreamResult result = new StreamResult(new StringWriter()); transformer.transform(source, result); xmlString = result.getWriter().toString(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return xmlString; } private static Document getJSDLJobDefinitionDocument() { DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance(); DocumentBuilder builder = null; try { builder = factory.newDocumentBuilder(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } DOMImplementation domImpl = builder.getDOMImplementation(); Document theDocument = domImpl.createDocument(JSDL_SCHEMA_URL, "JobDefinition", null); return theDocument; } private static void validateXML(DOMSource source) { try { URL schemaFile = new URL(JSDL_SCHEMA_URL); Sche maFactory schemaFactory = SchemaFactory.newInstance(XMLConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA_NS_URI); Schema schema = schemaFactory.newSchema(schemaFile); Validator validator = schema.newValidator(); DOMResult result = new DOMResult(); validator.validate(source, result); System.out.println("is valid"); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } it spits out a somewhat odd message: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: cvc-complex-type.2.4.a: Invalid content was found starting with element 'JobDescription'. One of '{"http://schemas.ggf.org/jsdl/2005/11/jsdl":JobDescription}' is expected. Where am I going wrong here? Thanks a lot

  • Which web crawler to use to save news articles from a website into .txt files?

    - by brokencoding
Hi, i am currently in dire need of news articles to test a LSI implementation (it's in a foreign language, so there isnt the usual packs of files ready to use). So i need a crawler that given a starting url, let's say http://news.bbc.co.uk/ follows all the contained links and saves their content into .txt files, if we could specify the format to be UTF8 i would be in heaven. I have 0 expertise in this area, so i beg you for some sugestions in which crawler to use for this task.

  • How to use Wordpress' http.php in external projects?

    - by NJTechGuy
    I am trying to parse data from a pipe-delimited text file hosted on another server which in turn will be inserted in a database. My host (1and1) disabled allow_url_fopen in php.ini I guess. Error message : Warning: fopen() [function.fopen]: URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in Code : <? // make sure curl is installed if (function_exists('curl_init')) { // initialize a new curl resource $ch = curl_init(); // set the url to fetch curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, 'http://abc.com/data/output.txt'); // don't give me the headers just the content curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0); // return the value instead of printing the response to browser curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); // use a user agent to mimic a browser curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, 'Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0'); $content = curl_exec($ch); // remember to always close the session and free all resources curl_close($ch); } else { // curl library is not installed so we better use something else } //$contents = fread ($fd,filesize ($filename)); //fclose ($fd); $delimiter = "|"; $splitcontents = explode($delimiter, $contents); $counter = ""; ?> <font color="blue" face="arial" size="4">Complete File Contents</font> <hr> <? echo $contents; ?> <br><br> <font color="blue" face="arial" size="4">Split File Contents</font> <hr> <? foreach ( $splitcontents as $color ) { $counter = $counter+1; echo "<b>Split $counter: </b> $colorn<br>"; } ?> Wordpress has this cool http.php file. Is there a better way of doing it? If not, how do I use http.php for this task? Thank you guys..

Because of that I can't even pass the client-side validation in order to create new Tag in db. What am I missing?

  • Does calling a click method effect the HtmlPage object if there is a 404?

    - by Blankman
If I call a click method on a HtmlAnchor, and say that page returns a 404, does that mean the HtmlPage will effect, so searching for another link on the page will result in an error because the page's HTML is the error page (assuming the link is NOT on the error page). Can I manually set the page's HTML, and then locate and click on links and continue on from this approach? (other than connecting via a URL)

  • Android: restful API service

    - by Martyn
Hey, I'm looking to make a service which I can use to make calls to a web based rest api. I've spent a couple of days looking through stackoverflow.com, reading books and looking at articles whilst playing about with some code and I can't get anything which I'm happy with. Basically I want to start a service on app init then I want to be able to ask that service to request a url and return the results. In the meantime I want to be able to display a progress window or something similar. I've created a service currently which uses IDL, I've read somewhere that you only really need this for cross app communication, so think these needs stripping out but unsure how to do callbacks without it. Also when I hit the post(Config.getURL("login"), values) the app seems to pause for a while (seems weird - thought the idea behind a service was that it runs on a different thread!) Currently I have a service with post and get http methods inside, a couple of AIDL files (for two way communication), a ServiceManager which deals with starting, stopping, binding etc to the service and I'm dynamically creating a Handler with specific code for the callbacks as needed. I don't want anyone to give me a complete code base to work on, but some pointers would be greatly appreciated; even if it's to say I'm doing it completely wrong. I'm pretty new to Android and Java dev so if there are any blindingly obvious mistakes here - please don't think I'm a rubbish developer, I'm just wet behind the ears and would appreciate being told exactly where I'm going wrong. Anyway, code in (mostly) full (really didn't want to put this much code here, but I don't know where I'm going wrong - apologies in advance): public class RestfulAPIService extends Service { final RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback> mCallbacks = new RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback>(); public void onStart(Intent intent, int startId) { super.onStart(intent, startId); } public IBinder onBind(Intent intent) { return binder; } public void onCreate() { super.onCreate(); } public void onDestroy() { super.onDestroy(); mCallbacks.kill(); } private final IRestfulService.Stub binder = new IRestfulService.Stub() { public void doLogin(String username, String password) { Message msg = new Message(); Bundle data = new Bundle(); HashMap<String, String> values = new HashMap<String, String>(); values.put("username", username); values.put("password", password); String result = post(Config.getURL("login"), values); data.putString("response", result); msg.setData(data); msg.what = Config.ACTION_LOGIN; mHandler.sendMessage(msg); } public void registerCallback(IRemoteServiceCallback cb) { if (cb != null) mCallbacks.register(cb); } }; private final Handler mHandler = new Handler() { public void handleMessage(Message msg) { // Broadcast to all clients the new value. final int N = mCallbacks.beginBroadcast(); for (int i = 0; i < N; i++) { try { switch (msg.what) { case Config.ACTION_LOGIN: mCallbacks.getBroadcastItem(i).userLogIn( msg.getData().getString("response")); break; default: super.handleMessage(msg); return; } } catch (RemoteException e) { } } mCallbacks.finishBroadcast(); } public String post(String url, HashMap<String, String> namePairs) {...} public String get(String url) {...} }; A couple of AIDL files: package com.something.android oneway interface IRemoteServiceCallback { void userLogIn(String result); } and package com.something.android import com.something.android.IRemoteServiceCallback; interface IRestfulService { void doLogin(in String username, in String password); void registerCallback(IRemoteServiceCallback cb); } and the service manager: public class ServiceManager { final RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback> mCallbacks = new RemoteCallbackList<IRemoteServiceCallback>(); public IRestfulService restfulService; private RestfulServiceConnection conn; private boolean started = false; private Context context; public ServiceManager(Context context) { this.context = context; } public void startService() { if (started) { Toast.makeText(context, "Service already started", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } else { Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClassName("com.something.android", "com.something.android.RestfulAPIService"); context.startService(i); started = true; } } public void stopService() { if (!started) { Toast.makeText(context, "Service not yet started", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } else { Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClassName("com.something.android", "com.something.android.RestfulAPIService"); context.stopService(i); started = false; } } public void bindService() { if (conn == null) { conn = new RestfulServiceConnection(); Intent i = new Intent(); i.setClassName("com.something.android", "com.something.android.RestfulAPIService"); context.bindService(i, conn, Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); } else { Toast.makeText(context, "Cannot bind - service already bound", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } protected void destroy() { releaseService(); } private void releaseService() { if (conn != null) { context.unbindService(conn); conn = null; Log.d(LOG_TAG, "unbindService()"); } else { Toast.makeText(context, "Cannot unbind - service not bound", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } class RestfulServiceConnection implements ServiceConnection { public void onServiceConnected(ComponentName className, IBinder boundService) { restfulService = IRestfulService.Stub.asInterface((IBinder) boundService); try { restfulService.registerCallback(mCallback); } catch (RemoteException e) {} } public void onServiceDisconnected(ComponentName className) { restfulService = null; } }; private IRemoteServiceCallback mCallback = new IRemoteServiceCallback.Stub() { public void userLogIn(String result) throws RemoteException { mHandler.sendMessage(mHandler.obtainMessage(Config.ACTION_LOGIN, result)); } }; private Handler mHandler; public void setHandler(Handler handler) { mHandler = handler; } } Service init and bind: // this I'm calling on app onCreate servicemanager = new ServiceManager(this); servicemanager.startService(); servicemanager.bindService(); application = (ApplicationState)this.getApplication(); application.setServiceManager(servicemanager); service function call: // this lot i'm calling as required - in this example for login progressDialog = new ProgressDialog(Login.this); progressDialog.setMessage("Logging you in..."); progressDialog.show(); application = (ApplicationState) getApplication(); servicemanager = application.getServiceManager(); servicemanager.setHandler(mHandler); try { servicemanager.restfulService.doLogin(args[0], args[1]); } catch (RemoteException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } ...later in the same file... Handler mHandler = new Handler() { public void handleMessage(Message msg) { switch (msg.what) { case Config.ACTION_LOGIN: if (progressDialog.isShowing()) { progressDialog.dismiss(); } try { ...process login results... } } catch (JSONException e) { Log.e("JSON", "There was an error parsing the JSON", e); } break; default: super.handleMessage(msg); } } }; Any and all help is greatly appreciated and I'll even buy you a coffee or a beer if you fancy :D Martyn

  • Stop images from wrapping when div width is to small.

I have a div that contains a ul and in each li there is a picture. I have floated the pictures left to get them to line up in a straight line however once it reaches the end of the div, it wraps. • Support for encoding query string or POST data in YUI ?

    - by faB
How do you encode a javascript object/hash (pairs of properties and values) into a URL-encoded query string with YUI (2.7.0 or 3.0.0 Beta) ? I want to do the equivalent of Object.toQueryString() from Prototype: I need this to encode parameters for GET and POST requests with YAHOO.util.Connect. It turns out YAHOO.util.Connect has a setForm() method to serialize a form but that still leaves me out cold to encode parameters for GET requests, or the 4th parameter of YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest() to pass post data.

Sometimes it's takes quite a while to load the page, and in these cases I want to be able to use the built in back button on the phone to cancel the loading and go back to my application. How do I do this? Is there some way I can listen to the backbutton while loading the url?
