  • MySQL encoding problem

    - by heffaklump
    I use Java and JDBC to save japanese characters and it works perfectly on my local MySQL. But when I tried doing the same thing on my web hotels MySQL i get ????? instead of japanese characters. I have made the exact same tables and use exact same code. The only difference I have found is SHOW VARIABLES LIKE 'CHAR%' character_set_client utf8 character_set_connection utf8 character_set_database latin1 character_set_filesystem binary character_set_results utf8 character_set_server latin1 character_set_system utf8 character_sets_dir /s/usr-local/share/mysql/charsets/ character_set_datbase is set to latin1. But I can't change it! Any tips?

  • Treat a void function as a value

    - by Brendan Long
    I'm writing some terrible, terrible code, and I need a way to put a free() in the middle of a statement. The actual code is: int main(){ return printf("%s", isPalindrome(fgets(malloc(1000), 1000, stdin))?"Yes!\n":"No!\n") >= 0; // leak 1000 bytes of memory } I was using alloca(), but I can't be sure that will actually work on my target computer. My problem is that free returns void, so my code has this error message: error: void value not ignored as it ought to be The obvious idea I had was: int myfree(char *p){ free(p); return 0; } Which is nice in that it makes the code even more unreadable, but I'd prefer not to add another function. I also briefly tried treating free() as a function pointer, but I don't know if that would work, and I don't know enough about C to do it properly. Note: I know this is a terrible idea. Don't try this at home kids.

  • How to count the letters in a text with Javascript?

    - by Doguhanca
    I am currently trying to write a ''web application'' that has a simple text area inside, in which I want the letters of the text written to be pointed out. For example, if I write: ''How old are you? I am 19 years old'' I need a code to tell me how many 'A's and 'Y's and 'D's (and all letters of the alphabet from 0-26) are used in this sentence when I press a button on a HTML/ CSS page. Could you please tell me what I must write into my .JS file and what I should write into my .HTML file to do this with a click of a button when something is written in the ? I hope my explanation was detailed enough. Thanks! Edit (I'm very sorry for the problems I caused) - What I have done so far looks like this: HTML: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="theme.css"> <meta charset="utf-8"> <script src="test.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <div class='header'> Al.Fa.Be </div> <div class='yaz'> <textarea></textarea> </div> <div class='description'> <a href='http://www.google.com'>Ara</a> </div> <div class='description2'> <input id="clickMe" type="button" value="Hesapla" onclick="doFunction();" /> </div> CSS: body{ background:white; } selection{ background:#CCC; } #clickMe{ background:#CCC; border:1px solid #333; } .header{ font-size:70px; font-weight:bold; font-family:Arial; color:#333; margin-left:580px; padding-top:200px; } textarea{ width:1210px; height:40px; color:black; margin-top:20px; margin-left:100px; padding-left:10px; padding-top:10px; font-size:18px; font-family:Arial; } .description{ background:#f2f2f2; padding:6px; width:50px; text-align:center; border:1px solid #ddd; font-family:Arial; margin-left:620px; margin-top:20px; font-size:14px; } .description a{ color:#555; text-decoration:none; } .description2{ background:#f2f2f2; padding:6px; width:60px; text-align:center; border:1px solid #ddd; font-family:Arial; margin-left:750px; margin-top:-30px; font-size:14px; } .description2 a{ color:#555; text-decoration:none; } .yaz{ color:white; } Javascript: // Input name.   • Glib hash table replace

    - by Robert
    I'm using GLib Hash Table. I'm trying to get the current value of the key that I found and then increment its value. I'm not quite sure how can I replace the existing value. typedef struct { gchar *key; guint my_int; } my_struct; char *v; v = g_hash_table_lookup(table, my_struct.key); if (v == NULL) g_hash_table_insert(table, g_strdup(my_struct.key), (gpointer)(my_struct.my_int)); else g_hash_table_replace() // here I'd like to do something like current_val+1 Any ideas will be appreciate it.

  • buffer overflow with boost::program_options

    - by f4
    Hello, I have a problem using boost:program_options this simple program, copy-pasted from boosts' documentation : #include <boost/program_options.hpp> int main( int argc, char** argv ) { namespace po = boost::program_options; po::options_description desc("Allowed options"); desc.add_options() ("help", "produce help message") ("compression", po::value<int>(), "set compression level") ; return 0; } fails with a buffer overflow. I have activated the "buffer security switch", and when I run it I get an "unknown exception (0xc0000409)" when I step over the line desc.add_options()... I use Visual Studio 2005 and boost 1.43.0. By the way it does run if I deactivate the switch but I don't feel comfortable doing so... unless it's possible to deactivate it locally. So do you have a solution to this problem? EDIT I found the problem I was linking against libboost_program_options-vc80-mt.lib which wasn't the good library.

  • How to free an Oracle Object-Type passed to an external procedure

    - by chila
    I'm using OTT to pass and load an Object Type from a C++ external procedure. The problem I have is that I don't know how to somehow mark the object for deallocation once extproc has done marshalling it. The object remains in extproc's memory forever making it grow in memory consumtion. Here's part of the code: void decodeFromBuffer(OCIExtProcContext *ctx, GPRS_GPRSCHARGINGRECORD *record, GPRS_GPRSCHARGINGRECORD_ind *recordInd, const unsigned char *buffer, int buffLen, OCIInd *bufferInd) { . . . assert(OCIExtProcGetEnv(ctx, &envh, &svch, &errh) == OCI_SUCCESS); recordInd->_atomic = OCI_IND_NOTNULL; // somehow I should mark the object for deallocation after extproc has done marshalling it // using OCINumberFromInt and OCIStringAssignText to load the object (this memory is never deallocated) . . . } How could I mark the object (and subobjects) for deallocation?

  • How to print an isosceles triangle

    - by Steve
    Hello, I'm trying to learn programming by myself, I'm working from a book that has the following problem which I can't solve: Allow the user to input two values: a character to be used for printing an isosceles triangle and the size of the peak for the triangle. For example, if the user inputs # for the character and 6 for the peak, you should produce the following display: # ## ### #### ##### ###### ##### #### ### ## # This is the code I've got so far: char character; int peak; InputValues(out character, out peak); for (int row = 1; row < peak * 2; row++) { for (int col = 1; col <= row; col++) { Console.Write(character); } Console.WriteLine(); } Console.Read() // hold console open Thanks in advance.

  • Using memory mapping in C for reading binary

    - by user1320912
    I am trying to read data from a binary file and process it.It is a very large file so I thought I would use memory mapping. I am trying to use memory mapping so I can read the file byte by byte. I am getting a few compiler errors while doing this. I am doing this on a linux platform #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/mman.h> int fd; char *data; fd = open("data.bin", O_RDONLY); pagesize = 4000; data = mmap((caddr_t)0, pagesize, PROT_READ, MAP_SHARED, fd, pagesize); The errors i get are : caddr not initialized, R_RDONLY not initialized, mmap has too few arguments. Could someone help me out ?

  • SQLite SQLite column can't be updated to any value but zero (real type)

    - by user1065320
    Hi I'm trying to create a three fields table (date,text,real), I can insert and update the first two fields but can't set or update the last one. createSQL = @"CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS ACTIVITIES (MYDATE DATETIME PRIMARY KEY, ACTIVITY TEXT , LENGTH REAL);"; try to insert char *update = "INSERT OR REPLACE INTO ACTIVITIES (MYDATE, ACTIVITY , LENGTH) VALUES (?, ? ,?);"; sqlite3_stmt *stmt; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, update , -1, &stmt, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_bind_double(stmt, 1, valueToWrite); sqlite3_bind_text(stmt, 2, [task UTF8String], -1, NULL); sqlite3_bind_double(stmt, 3, 1.5); } if (sqlite3_step(stmt) != SQLITE_DONE) { NSAssert1(0, @"Error updating table: %s", errorMsg); } sqlite3_finalize(stmt); sqlite3_close(database); The first two values are updated but the last one remains 0 even if I'm writing a value like 1.5 or put a double variable with a different value Thanks

  • Why is it so hard to build a gtk programe without console using gtk in windows?

    - by Runner
    I'm following the tuto: http://zetcode.com/tutorials/gtktutorial/firstprograms/ It works but each time I double click on the executable,there is a console which I don't want it there. How do I get rid of that console? I tried this: add_executable(Cmd WIN32 cmd.c) But got this fatal error: MSVCRTD.lib(crtexew.obj) : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _WinMain@16 referenced in function ___tmainCRTStartup Cmd.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 1 unresolved externals While using gcc directly works: gcc -o Cmd cmd.c -mwindows .. I'm guessing it has something to do with the entry function: int main( int argc, char *argv[]),but why gcc works? How can I make it work with cmake?

  • RSA encrypted data block size

    - by calccrypto
    how do you store an rsa encrypted data block? the output might be significantly greater than the original input data block size, and i dont think people waste memory by padding bucket loads of 0s in front of each data block. besides, how would they be removed? or is each block stored on new lines within the file? if that is the case, how would you tell the difference between legitimate new line and a '\n' char written into the file? what am i missing? im writing the "write to file" part in python, so maybe its one of the differences between: open(file,'w') open(file,'w+b') open(file,'wb') that i dont know. or is it something else?

  • Using .dll methods to load data from file in C# code

    - by Espinas.iss
    I want to use in C# these methods: * int LibRaw::open_datastream(LibRaw_abstract_datastream *stream) * int LibRaw::open_file(const char *rawfile) * int LibRaw::open_buffer(void *buffer, size_t bufsize) * int LibRaw::unpack(void) * int LibRaw::unpack_thumb(void) that are stored in a libraw.dll. These functions one by one load data from file... I've been reading about P/Invoke but i'm not sure how to invoke them. Can anyone show me an example how to use all of these functions together in C# to load file (raw image stored in folder) or just how to PIvoke one of them. Thanx!

  • charset problem?

    - by Ben Fransen
    Hi all, I have a bugging problem. For a website I made there are search engine friendly URL's generated. The only problem is there are ß-chars in the url too. Chars like ö, ï, ä, ü etc. are placed correct. But with the ß-char there is a diamond-icon with a questionmark in it. - ? I thought it had to do with the charset which is used but i've tried both UTF-8 and iso-8859-1. Both without luck. I need to have the correct character in the url for the readability of deeplinks. Hope to hear from you!

  • reading a file that doesn't exist

    - by John
    Hi, I have got a small program that prints the contents of files using the system call - read. unsigned char buffer[8]; size_t offset=0; size_t bytes_read; int i; int fd = open(argv[1], O_RDONLY); do{ bytes_read = read(fd, buffer, sizeof(buffer)); printf("0x%06x : ", offset); for(i=0; i<bytes_read; ++i) { printf("%c ", buffer[i]); } printf("\n"); offset = offset + bytes_read; }while(bytes_read == sizeof(buffer)); Now while running I give a file name that doesn't exist. It prints some kind of data mixed with environment variables and a segmentation fault at the end. How is this possible? What is the program printing? Thanks, John

    I've written a member function of class Node to read a tree of Nodes in postfix order. It will be called by the Node instance which is the root node of the tree. So: N.postfix(); these appear to be illeagal: *this->left.postfix(); *this->right.postfix(); What is the proper way to do this? class Node { public: const char *cargo; int depth; Node *left; Node *right void Node::postfix() { if (this==__nullptr) { return; } else { *this->left.postfix(); *this->right.postfix(); out<<*this->cargo<<"\n"; return; } };

    I don't understand the results of the following C code. main() { char s[] = "AAA"; advanceString(s); } void advanceString(p[3]) { int val = atoi(p); printf("The atoi val is %d\n",val); } Here the atoi val is shown as 0. But I could not figure out the exact reason. As per my understanding, it should be the summation of decimal equivalent of each values in the array.? Please correct me if I am wrong.

  • usage of 2 charectors in single qoutes in c

But I have cleared almost all the doubts by referring these links: Single and double quotes in C/C++ Single quotes vs. double quotes in C I still need to understand one thing about the output of this question. Can someone please explain the output of printf("%d\n",'ag'); mentioned above in the program. How is it actually stored in the memory? The output for the program on the Linux/GCC platform is: 24935 97 1, 4, 4, 4

  • Object to Network serialization - with an existing protocol

    - by cpf
    I'm writing a client for a server program written in C++. As is not unusual, all the networking protocol is in a format where packets can be easily memcopied into/out of a C++ structure (1 byte packet code, then different arrangements per packet type). I could do the same thing in C#, but is there an easier way, especially considering lots of the data is fixed-length char arrays that I want to play with as strings? Or should I just suck it up and convert types as needed? I've looked at using the ISerializable interface, but it doesnt look as low level as is required.
