I cannot manually update MSE...I receive error warning 0x8007000d. I have tried rebooting numerous times and checking the firewall but I need advice from someone more knowledgable than myself. Thank You
I'm dealing with a decade's worth of digital photos where I want to be sure i have one and only one of every .jpg is stored in my new master picture repository.
I'm aggregating lots of backup CDs as archival hard drives - this means i can't trust the file date when checking for dupes.
I need something that's able to look into the metadata within the jpg itself.
thx
I have a sun solaris server which die off recently due to voltage issue
Checking with sun solaris support personnel the cost is like 5k or 6k per maintence year support.
I am wondering whether it is worth the price or should i instead purchase a new solaris server and redo the setup etc.
Any advise anyone?
And also is there anyaway i can remove the harddisk in the existing solaris server and put into the new server?
SQL Server 2008 db instance is installed on a win 2003 server, networked (but no domain) VM.
I can browse a cube from BIDS on the same VM, but when I try to browse the same cube on a windows 7 (home premium) networked machine, I get a connection error. The error suggests checking the datasource settings which I have, and when I click "test connection" on the datasource it is successful.
Looking for probably causes and solutions?
I am going to write a script of some sort to check event viewer in a windows server 2003 for all printjobs, and then write them to a comma delimited textfile like printername_floor_room.txt
I am wondering what the best way is to do this realtime, and keep checking the event viewer constantly. Any caveats I need to be aware of?
Thanks

I have a build script (Perl) that modifies the .htaccess file when I deploy my applications. As a double-check I'd like to be able to perform some sort of syntax checking on the created .htaccess file.
I am familiar with the idea of using apachectl -t however, I am in a shared hosting environment and because of file access restrictions I cannot read certain configuration files specified by the sysadmins. Apachectl simply will not work in this regard.
Ideas or suggestions welcome.
If so which version please?

Recently noticed that my icons settings in notification area are getting reset on system restart.
For example I specify Skype icon to always show icon and notification.
After I restart Windows - it's hidden again.
It's not just for one specific icon, it's for all of them.
Checking box "Always shows icons and notifications" works, and all icons appear, but this is not an option.
Please help.
Thanks.
I am configuring a policy file for Tripwire For Servers for GNU/Linux (x86) version 4.8.0.167
My system has ext2 and ext3 filesystems.
In the policy file the properties include "ACL settings", "permission and file mode bits", and "Flags (additional permissions on object)".
What is the difference between ACL settings and permissions for ext2 and ext3 filesystems, and what additional checking does the Flags property provide?
Microsoft has provided a 3 license "Family Pack" for Windows 7. The description specifies that it is for 3 computers in one household. How specific is this restriction. Is Microsoft actually checking this, or should we all be running out, purchasing the 3 packs, and reselling the licenses for $80 each?
I want to sort my Unread Mail folder by Folder and within that by Recieved (oldest on top).
I've found that by clicking the "In Folder" header, holding down Shift and clicking Received twice I can get the sort I want but if I leave that view (for example checking the calendar) and then return that the sort order has not kept things as I expect.
Looking in the View Settings Sort it shows "In Folder (ascending), Received (ascending)" but that doesn't create the same view as using the shift button...
Whenever I log into my Windows 7 desktop from my Windows 7 laptop using RDC, the Num Lock is enabled on the host computer and it is not disabled after disconnecting. What can I do to stop the Num Lock from being enabled or automatically disable it at the end of the session?
(I do not know if this happens only on Windows 7 and have no way of checking, so I went with the generic windows tag)
I am aware of using lsof for checking the files currently accessed by a process. Does there exist a way to see all files that an application opens in it's lifetime?
As all mail things change I wanted to get some thought if checking PTR DNS records these days is advisable?
1) I do want to use it if it will actually bring benefit
and
2) I do need to keep false positives as close to zero as possible.
hi ,
I want to use nmap in such a way that I could check bunch of server's port at once for checking whether their particular port is open or not?
right now I have 10 ip addresses but in future this could be more .
I know the very basic command in linux like cat/nano/piping
but I don't know how can I feed to nmap the list of my servers to open them one by one and return the result.
PBX: Nortel Opt 81c
Connection: Analog lines through Procomm or Reflections
We are thinking about backing up the Nortel PBX config and checking them into the subversion.
I am wondering if anyone has found the a way to automate the pulling of the configs off the Nortel PBX. Configs would be programming listing in plain text that we can diff in subversion to see what has been changed.
An example config would be to go into ld 21 and printing the RDBs.

Since upgrading from Vista to Win 7 File Hippo Update Checker no longer works? It appears to go through the motions of checking the software because the popup window appears but it never fires up the results in a browser which it used to do in Vista.
It simply does nothing after the initial popup window appears and disappears.
Have tried uninstall/reinstall with no joy.
Any ideas?
I'm trying to fetch the VNC access data from a virtual machine managed by libVirt. However, when I run virsh dumpxml $machine, the vnc passwd is missing:
<graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes'/>
Checking the same using virsh edit $machine, I see the password is actually there:
<graphics type='vnc' port='-1' autoport='yes' passwd='asdf'/>
Why is this? Is this intentional (what reason?), or could this be a bug?
HP Lights-Out Configuration Utility- CPQLOCFG v. 4.00 dated 04/04/2012

the HP utility always returns

What's wrong with me or the utility? Did anyone ever get this to work?
I personally thought that NTFS was case insensitive, since you can type cmd, CMD, cMd or even CmD and still get the command prompt. However, why is it that during a CHKDSK x: /f /r, sometimes it fixes capitalization in some files? If it didn't care about the case, it shouldn't matter about that, and CHKDSK shouldn't be checking if it's actually CMD or cmd. Am I right? Where does it actually matter in the file system?
I am on a VPS, so I am trying to conserve memory. Across all my databases, I had a total of 5 innodb tables; I converted them all to myisam. However, even after triple-checking to make sure I had no more innodb tables, I am still crashing when I use skip-innodb in my.cnf.
I can't seem to find any way to connect to a remote IIS instance with my local INETMGR on my Windows 7 machine. It shows my settings for my local IIS and everything I've tried from clicking various places on the connections panel, changing the address in the address bar and checking the various menubar menus none seem to offer connect to another machine.
Having tried all sorts of suggestions popping up from google, I am at my wit's end.
Presently I use a solution created with htaccesstools.com/hotlink-protection/
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?mydomain.tld/.*$ [NC]
RewriteRule \.(gif|jpg|jpeg|png|js|css)$ - [NC,F,L]
Checking it out with altlab.com/htaccess_tutorial.html testing facility (near bottom of page ) shows no image if mydomain.tld/mypic.jpg is entered, while if prefixed with www (www.mydomain.tld/mypic.jpg) the pic is displayed.
Any helpful comments welcome.
When I access http://localhost/ I get 403 Forbidden, but if I access http://localhost/~username it serves up pages. Things I've tried:
- checking error logs
- swapping out with original httpd conf files
- changing DocumentRoot to my user directory (after all that should work if I can access ~username)
I've seen 30 plus Q&A sites that all point to people having trouble with user directories being forbidden. I have the opposite problem, and so I'm tearing my hair out here.
