  • Windows LiveID "Couldn't sign you out" error at sign-out

    - by Jason
I'm implementing LiveID authentication on my website. I've done it before, but not on this particular platform, MojoPortal. The sign-in works properly, but when I attempt to sign-out, I get the error message quoted below. My browser is not blocking cookies. I get the same message when logging in to and out of, say, MSDN with a LiveID too now. I can't figure out if there's something about my site's programming that is interfering with the sign-out process of LiveID (since I believe that all (recent?) websites get sent a sign-out command) OR if live.com is just having issues lately and this is a coincidence. Couldn't sign you out We couldn't sign you out because your browser is blocking cookies. To sign out, close all of your browser windows. To keep this from happening again, change your browser's settings to allow cookies. If you don't know how to do that, see your browser's help.

  • Getting an ASP.MVC2/VS2010 application to work in IIS 7.5

    - by Jeroen-bart Engelen
    I've recently downloaded beta 2 of VS2010 and started playing with ASP.NET MVC2. Initial development was done with Casini, but now I wanted to run the application from IIS 7.5 (I'm running Windows 7). I've installed the IIS6 metabase compatiblity and I run VS2010 as administrator so I can use the "Create Virtual Directory" button from the "Web" tab of the project settings. This created the web application entry in IIS, but it doesn't work. When I go to the main page (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/) I get a HTTP 403 error. When I go directly to one of the sub-pages (http://localhost/MyMvcApp/Home/) I get an HTTP 404. So I guess for some reason the URL routing isn't working. I've already added UrlRouting as a module and a handler to the web.config. In my searches this is offered as a solution for some similair problems. But for me this still doesn't work. The interesting part of my web.config looke like this: <system.web> <compilation debug="true" targetFramework="4.0"> <assemblies> <add assembly="System.Web.Abstractions, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add assembly="System.Web.Routing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> <add assembly="System.Web.Mvc, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> </assemblies> </compilation> <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="~/Account/LogOn" timeout="2880" /> </authentication> <membership> <providers> <clear /> <add name="AspNetSqlMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider" connectionStringName="ApplicationServices" enablePasswordRetrieval="false" enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="false" requiresUniqueEmail="false" maxInvalidPasswordAttempts="5" minRequiredPasswordLength="6" minRequiredNonalphanumericCharacters="0" passwordAttemptWindow="10" applicationName="/" /> </providers> </membership> <profile> <providers> <clear /> <add name="AspNetSqlProfileProvider" type="System.Web.Profile.SqlProfileProvider" connectionStringName="ApplicationServices" applicationName="/" /> </providers> </profile> <roleManager enabled="false"> <providers> <clear /> <add name="AspNetSqlRoleProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlRoleProvider" connectionStringName="ApplicationServices" applicationName="/" /> <add name="AspNetWindowsTokenRoleProvider" type="System.Web.Security.WindowsTokenRoleProvider" applicationName="/" /> </providers> </roleManager> <pages> <namespaces> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Ajax" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Mvc.Html" /> <add namespace="System.Web.Routing" /> </namespaces> </pages> <httpHandlers> <add verb="*" path="*.mvc" validate="false" type="System.Web.Mvc.MvcHttpHandler" /> </httpHandlers> <customErrors mode="Off" /> </system.web> <system.webServer> <validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false" /> <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true" > <remove name="UrlRoutingModule"/> <add name="UrlRoutingModule" type="System.Web.Routing.UrlRoutingModule, System.Web.Routing, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31BF3856AD364E35" /> </modules> <handlers> <remove name="MvcHttpHandler" /> <add name="MvcHttpHandler" preCondition="integratedMode" verb="*" path="*.mvc" type="System.Web.Mvc.MvcHttpHandler" /> <add name="UrlRoutingHandler" preCondition="integratedMode" verb="*" path="UrlRouting.axd" type="System.Web.HttpForbiddenHandler, System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" /> </handlers> <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed" /> </system.webServer>

  • Send mail via gmail with PowerShell V2's Send-MailMessage

    - by Scott Weinstein
I'm trying to figure out how to use PowerShell V2's Send-MailMessage with gmail. • jQgrid Pagination with query string

    - by bsreekanth
Hello, I recently started experimenting with jQgrid, and much appreciate for any guidance on the below use case. I need to implement a (advanced)search functionality, and the results are loaded in the jQgrid. When use pagination, how to specify a complex query in the post data? In the serverside (grails) it it represented as an object, which is mocked below class searchCommand { String val1 List<long> ids //from the multiple selection } the above members can be null, if the user doesn't select any. Without saving the state at the server, I guess the only way to make the pagination work is to pass the query object back and forth with the correct offset, index etc. if that is the case, how best to represent it in jQgrid side. I saw a parameter postData to set additional values, but not sure how to represnt the data (JSON??). Any code snippet on (retaining) converting it from the last result to postData would be helpful. thanks in advance.

  • Creating a consumer of a Web Service WSDL/SOAP

    - by Azzi
I am attempting to write a Windows Desktop App (using WCF) that is a consumer of a web service. The application: Sends a SOAP message to a British Government Server to get an authentication token based on the arugments passed Retrieves a response from that server in the form of a string which contains the authentication token. I have a template of the SOAP message from the British Government, and a WSDL file for the service. What I have tried Add a service reference using the WSDL file. • Unrecognized configuration section httpHandlers in Web.Config with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 20

    - by FatboyFudge
Hi all, I am in need of some help with an error message I get with Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I would like to create a gallery for my site so I downloaded the NotesForGallery from codeplex. I have added the reference into the project like it told me to in the installation instructions. The instructions then say Register the ThumbnailHandler in the Web.Config file (httpHandlers section): <httpHandlers> … <add verb="*" path="ThumbnailHandler.ashx" type="NotesFor.ThumbnailHandler, NotesForGallery"/> … </httpHandlers> So I open the web.config file in my solution and I add it in. When I try and start the website (clicking the play button in Web Developer) I get the error message: Unrecognized configuration section httpHandlers. The complete list of errors I get are: Message 1 Could not find schema information for the element 'httpHandlers'. • jQuery button click refresh of jqGrid only firing once

    - by The Matt
I have the following jQuery code which I'm using to populate a jqGrid. It works perfectly posting to my ASP.NET MVC page on the first click of the button. My problem is, any other clicks past the first it seems to run through the jquery code when clicking the button but it never makes it to the POST page. Any ideas why? <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#btnSubmit').click(function() { /* Refreshes the grid */ $("#list").jqGrid({ /* The controller action to get the grid data from */ url: '/CRA/AddPart', data: { partNumber: "123"}, datatype: 'json', mtype: 'GET', /* Define the headers on the grid */ colNames: ['col1', 'col2', 'col3', 'col4'], /* Define what fields the row columns come from */ colModel: [ { name: 'col1', index: 'invid', width: 290 }, { name: 'col2', index: 'invdate', width: 290 }, { name: 'col3', index: 'amount', width: 290, align: 'right' }, { name: 'col4', index: 'tax', width: 290, align: 'right'}], height: 'auto', rowNum: 10, rowList: [10, 20, 30], sortname: 'id', sortorder: "desc", viewrecords: true, imgpath: '../../Scripts/jgrid/themes/steel/images', caption: 'Core Return Authorization Contents:', cellEdit: true }); }); }); </script>

  • ASP. NET MVC2: Where abouts do I set Current.User from a Session variable?

    - by Adam Brown
Hi, I'm trying to get authentication and authorisation working in an ASP .NET MVC2 site. I've read loads of tutorials and some books which explain how you can use attributes to require authorisation (and membership in a role) like this: [Authorize(Roles="Admin")] public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } I've made classes that implement IIdentity and IPrincipal, I create a userPrincipal object once the user has successfully logged in and I add it to a session variable. When the user goes to another page I want it to set the HttpContext.Current.User to the object that I stored in the session, something like this: if (Session["User"] != null) { HttpContext.Current.User = Session["User"] as MyUser; } My question is: Where abouts do I put the code directly above? I tried Application_AuthenticateRequest but it tells me Session state is not available in this context. Many thanks.

  • Very large database, very small portion most being retrieved in real time

    - by ming yeow
Hi folks, I have an interesting database problem. I have a DB that is 150GB in size. My memory buffer is 8GB. Most of my data is rarely being retrieved, or mainly being retrieved by backend processes. I would very much prefer to keep them around because some features require them. Some of it (namely some tables, and some identifiable parts of certain tables) are used very often in a user facing manner How can I make sure that the latter is always being kept in memory? (there is more than enough space for these) More info: We are on Ruby on rails. The database is MYSQL, our tables are stored using INNODB. We are sharding the data across 2 partitions. Because we are sharding it, we store most of our data using JSON blobs, while indexing only the primary keys

  • Reflect on an ExpandoObject

    - by Water Cooler v2
    I have written a nifty function that will accept a system.object, reflect on its properties and serialize the object into a JSON string. It looks like this: public class JSONSerializer { public string Serialize(object obj) Now, I want to be able to do this to serialize a dynamic/ExpandoObject, but because my serializer uses reflection, it isn't able to do it. What's the workaround? public class Test { public dynamic MakeDynamicCat() { dynamic newCat = new ExpandoObject(); newCat.Name = "Polly"; newCat.Pedigree = new ExpandoObject(); newCat.Pedigree.Breed = "Whatever"; return newCat; } public void SerializeCat() { new JSONSerializer().Serialize(MakeDynamicCat()); } }

  • Can a Silverlight application authenticate versus a local LDAP/ActiveDirectory Server

    - by caryden
If I have an externally hosted application (www.outside.com) outside the firewall but users within a company wanted to be able to enable LDAP authentication against their local (behind the firewall) AD server (acting as LDAP) or other LDAP server (call it ldap.inside.com), how would this be done. It seems technically possible in that when a user tried to login to outside.com through a client-side silverlight interface, that the SL app could connect to the outside.com login service and be told to authenticate that user against ldap.inside.com. The SL app would make the calls to ldap.inside.com to authenticate the user. Of course, there is the issue of how the server is notified securely that the client authenticated itself...Has anyone done this?

  • jqGrid using a servlet to store the data, how to access the data from a different java class

    - by Sam
I'm using jqGrid for a table input and setting up the url as a servlet which will deal with the GET and POST requests and save the rows to a Java object. I'm using webwork web framework and I was wondering how I can get access to the object that the servlet is saving the data to. One way I have thought of is to just call the GET method from the Java action class which the servlet will return a JSON string with the object data. Is there a better design for doing this? This is probably not too clear so ask questions so I can help get across my point. Thanks

  • Google Chrome: XMLHttpRequest.send() not working while doing POST.

    - by Dave Van den Eynde
I'm working on an application that allows the user to send a file using a form (a POST request), and that executes a series of GET requests while that file is being uploaded to gather information about the state of the upload. It works fine in IE and Firefox, but not so much in Chrome and Safari. The problem is that even though send() is called on the XMLHttpRequest object, nothing is being requested as can be seen in Fiddler. To be more specific, an event handler is placed on the "submit" event of the form, that places a timeout function call on the window: window.setTimeout(startPolling, 10); and in this function "startPolling" sequence is started that keeps firing GET requests to receive status updates from a web service that returns text/json that can be used to update the UI. Is this a limitation (perhaps security-wise?) on WebKit based browsers? Is this a Chrome bug? (I'm seeing the same behaviour in Safari though).

  • Code to plug into a Zend Framework project

Hello everyone, Im currently working on a website in the Zend Framework and finding it very useful indeed. I want both a blog and a forum in this website and wondered if there are any open-source projects of this nature that I would be able to simply copy and paste into my modular project. I was using Wordpress and BBpress previously so something like that would be good, although I do not want to hack my Zend Auth to use the Wordpress authentication system, seems like too much hard work/hacky to do. So any ideas? Plus where are the best Zend framework 'plugins' (similar to wordpress)? Thanks everyone.

    I want to create Ext.tree.TreePanel component and periodically load content from the external URl. So I've written something like new Ext.tree.TreePanel({ root: { nodeType: 'async', text: 'asdasd', draggable: false, id: 'folders-tree-root' }, loader: new Ext.tree.TreeLoader() }); And now I want to reload this tree, so I write: tree.loader.dataUrl = 'folders-sample.json'; tree.root.reload(); And nothing happens. add: The only way I've found is set some invalid value to dataUrl param on TreeLoader creation: new Ext.tree.TreePanel({ root: { nodeType: 'async', text: 'asdasd', draggable: false, id: 'folders-tree-root' }, loader: new Ext.tree.TreeLoader(dataUrl: 'something') });

  • Catches communication exception instead of custom fault exception - WCF

    - by Ismail S
On Server I'm throwing the exception like this. catch(SqlException exception) { if (exception.Message.Contains("Custom error from stored proc")) { //Exception to be thrown when authentication fails. throw new FaultException<MyServiceFault>(new MyServiceFault { MessageText = exception.Message }); } } And on client end I'm catching the exception catch(FaultException<MyServiceFault> faultException) { } Here is my MyServiceFault [DataContract] public class MyServiceFault { [DataMember] public string MessageText { get; set; } [DataMember] public Guid Id { get; set; } } The problem is that on client, it doesn't go to MyServiceFault catch block instead it goes to communication exception catch block and throws this error System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The underlying connection was closed: The connection was closed unexpectedly. ---> System.Net.WebException I've also decorated my service method [FaultContract(typeof(MyServiceFault))] in the interface which is implemented by my service. In my web.config servicebehaviour tag consist <serviceDebug includeExceptionDetailInFaults="true" /> Any idea where I'm going wrong

  • ASP.NET 4 - IIS 7 - Request timed out - Request timed out

    - by sharru
My website is running on Asp.net v4 , IIS 7 , Windows server 2008. My cpu is running on 20-30% and the site is responding quickly. Every 2-5 mins i'm receiving the following error: Event code: 3001 Event message: The request has been aborted. Exception type: HttpException Exception message: Request timed out. , Request information: Request URL: http://www.xxxx.com/Services/AxRefresh.asmx/AxUpdate Request path: /Services/AxRefresh.asmx/AxUpdate User host address: 84.110.251.198 User: Is authenticated: False Authentication Type: Thread account name: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE i read that the error is related to the maximum concurrent requests limit http://support.microsoft.com/kb/821268 but then i found out that on IIS 7 this limitation is changed and not relevant. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd560842(VS.100).aspx Any other ideas what can be the problem or where to start looking ? • AD Password About to Expire check problem with ASP.Net

    - by Vince
Hello everyone, I am trying to write some code to check the AD password age during a user login and notify them of the 15 remaining days. I am using the ASP.Net code that I found on the Microsoft MSDN site and I managed to add a function that checks the if the account is set to change password at next login. The login and the change password at next login works great but I am having some problems with the check for the password age. This is the VB.Net code for the DLL file: Imports System Imports System.Text Imports System.Collections Imports System.DirectoryServices Imports System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement Imports System.Reflection 'Needed by the Password Expiration Class Only -Vince Namespace FormsAuth Public Class LdapAuthentication Dim _path As String Dim _filterAttribute As String 'Code added for the password expiration added by Vince Private _domain As DirectoryEntry Private _passwordAge As TimeSpan = TimeSpan.MinValue Const UF_DONT_EXPIRE_PASSWD As Integer = &H10000 'Function added by Vince Public Sub New() Dim root As New DirectoryEntry("LDAP://rootDSE") root.AuthenticationType = AuthenticationTypes.Secure _domain = New DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" & root.Properties("defaultNamingContext")(0).ToString()) _domain.AuthenticationType = AuthenticationTypes.Secure End Sub 'Function added by Vince Public ReadOnly Property PasswordAge() As TimeSpan Get If _passwordAge = TimeSpan.MinValue Then Dim ldate As Long = LongFromLargeInteger(_domain.Properties("maxPwdAge")(0)) _passwordAge = TimeSpan.FromTicks(ldate) End If Return _passwordAge End Get End Property Public Sub New(ByVal path As String) _path = path End Sub 'Function added by Vince Public Function DoesUserHaveToChangePassword(ByVal userName As String) As Boolean Dim ctx As PrincipalContext = New PrincipalContext(System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.ContextType.Domain) Dim up = UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity(ctx, userName) Return (Not up.LastPasswordSet.HasValue) 'returns true if last password set has no value.
