  • C# modify a config file for a windows service

    - by Jim Beam
I have a windows service that reads from a config file. I need to modify this config file prior to the application starting. How can I create a GUI that would handle the changes to the config file. I know that a service does not have a GUI per se, but I really just need something to modify some strings in the config file and then start the service.

  • Pass parameters to Windows Service to fire method

    - by Sam Youtsey
Hi there, I'm attempting to build a Windows Service which will execute some method when a user clicks a button in a WinForms application. I'd like to be able to pass in a few strings when the user presses the GUI button which will have the service consume them and processes a specific method. What's the best way to do this? Thanks for help.

  • Continuous Integration of Git on Windows

    - by Duncan
Hey All, assuming I'm running a small shop (3 devs) and using a Windows 7 machine as a centralised Git and IIS server what is the easiest way to get CI up and running? This must be locally hosted CI (no github, no remote servers). I'm doing C# .Net development with Visual Studio 2008. Any help on getting this running with the minimum of effort and the nicest possible UI would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

  • How do I access Windows Event Viewer log data from Java

    - by MatthieuF
Is there any way to access the Windows Event Log from a java class. Has anyone written any APIs for this, and would there be any way to access the data from a remote machine? The scenario is: I run a process on a remote machine, from a controlling Java process. This remote process logs stuff to the Event Log, which I want to be able to see in the controlling process. Thanks in advance.

  • home directory and .emacs file in Windows 7

    - by prosseek
I installed emacs 23.3.1 in c:/emacs-23.3. Following the hints in this page, I updated the site-start.el to set HOME environment variable. (setenv "HOME" "c:/users/USER/emacs") And I made c:/users/USER/.emacs (like I did in unix/mac) to write the code for using slime, but it doesn't seem to start slime correctly. Is this a correct way of setting emacs in Windows 7? Where do I put the .emacs file?

  • iPhone development on Windows

    - by AngryHacker
Is there a way to develop iPhone applications on Windows? I really don't want to get yet another machine. There is a project on http://code.google.com/p/winchain/wiki/HowToUse that seemed to work with iPhone 1.0, but had limited success with iPhone 2.0, plus it requires all the cygwin insanity. Is there anything else, or do I have to buy a mac?

  • Accurate Sleep for Java on Windows

    - by HaBaLeS
Does anyone know a Library which provides a Thread.sleep() for Java which has an error not higher than 1-2 Millisecond? I tried a mixture of Sleep, error measurement and BusyWait but I don't get this reliable on different windows machines. It can be a native implementation if the implementation is available for Linux and MacOS too. EDIT The link Nick provided ( http://blogs.sun.com/dholmes/entry/inside_the_hotspot_vm_clocks ) is a really good resource to understand the issues all kinds of timers/sleeps/clocks java has.
