  • Is there a future for Powerpoint VBA/VSTO?

    - by Sam Russo
Does anyone know what the future holds for VBA/VSTO programming in Powerpoint? I've been working on a Office automation project and find it frustrating to work with Powerpoint in particular since it seems to be one level below VBA support found in Excel or Word. It feels like MS is trying to phase out support for VBA in PPT since they dropped macro recording in version 2007 and the object model lacks some key features support.

  • Jquery and frames

    - by Shard
I am currently working on a web application that has been created using a magnitude of frames that stretch down up to 5 times, The issue is that i need to preform some jquery magic throughout the website. What would be the best way to go about this (other than rewriting it which i have considered)? EDIT: The Frame Structure is something along the lines of this: Index.html menu.html banner.html list.html footer.html /lib/index.html header.html body.html footer.html The magic i am referencing is a few hot key shortcuts, find and replace that kind of stuff

  • java.util.Map with HtmlDataTable

    - by gerry
Hi, I'm developing an application on GlassFish v3 which uses Suns-RI of JavaEE6 and JSF2.0, etc. And the bad thing is, that no changes/switches away from Suns RI can be made (to use MyFaces or something like that). Now, the problem is, that I want to build HtmlDatatable by hand ( in Java code). The datatable should represent a java.util.Map where the first column should display the key and the second the values of the map. I've build successfully a PanelGrid from a java.util.List and used every time the "setExpressionValue" methods of UIComponent to bind the UI to the underlying List. But now, this doesn't work with the Map. Here is a snippet of my code: public HtmlDataTable getEntityDetailsDataTable() { ... Application app = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication(); HtmlDataTable component = (HtmlDataTable)app.createComponent(HtmlDataTable.COMPONENT_TYPE); component.setValueExpression("value", ExpressionUtil.createValueExpression("#{entityTree.entity."+fieldName+".entrySet()}", Map.class)); component.setVar("param"); UIColumn column = new UIColumn(); UIOutput label1 = DynamicHtmlComponentCreator.createHtmlOutputText("#{param[key]}", String.class); column.getChildren().add(label1); UIOutput label2 = DynamicHtmlComponentCreator.createHtmlOutputText("#{param[value]}", String.class); column.getChildren().add(label2); component.getChildren().add(column); ... return component; } component.getChildren().add(column); ... return component; } So, further the problem is, that this code only prints out the content of the Map, on another page I need the values displayed in HtmlInputText elements and the whole map updated if the user clicks a i.e. "Save" button. So, further the problem is, that this code only prints out the content of the Map, on another page I need the values displayed in HtmlInputText elements and the whole map updated if the user clicks a i.e. "Save" button. If there is a workaround, to represent the Map as to Lists...please help me, because for this (map as 2 lists) I've no idea how the underlying map/database model can be updated again. Hopefully, someone can help me....

Why is it so?? I want to write a generic init which can take all iterator objects... Thanks

  • Sort Hash Tables Glibc - qsort

    - by Mike
I'm trying to sort a GLibc hash table by id that looks something like: key - id { "Red", 2, "BLue", 4, "Yellow", 5, "Orange", 8 } I'm just not sure how to approach this because GLibc does not have a sort method. I was thinking to use qsort or GCompareFunc Any ideas will be appreciate it!

  • Find location using only distance and bearing?

    - by pinnacler
Triangulation works by checking your angle to three KNOWN targets. "I know the that's the Lighthouse of Alexandria, it's located here (X,Y) on a map, and it's to my right at 90 degrees." Repeat 2 more times for different targets and angles. Trilateration works by checking your distance from three KNOWN targets. "I know the that's the Lighthouse of Alexandria, it's located here (X,Y) on a map, and I'm 100 meters away from that." Repeat 2 more times for different targets and ranges. But both of those methods rely on knowing WHAT you're looking at. Say you're in a forest and you can't differentiate between trees, but you know where key trees are. These trees have been hand picked as "landmarks." You have a robot moving through that forest slowly. Do you know of any ways to determine location based solely off of angle and range, exploiting geometry between landmarks? Note, you will see other trees as well, so you won't know which trees are key trees. Ignore the fact that a target may be occluded. Our pre-algorithm takes care of that. 1) If this exists, what's it called? I can't find anything. 2) What do you think the odds are of having two identical location 'hits?' I imagine it's fairly rare. 3) If there are two identical location 'hits,' how can I determine my exact location after I move the robot next. (I assume the chances of having 2 occurrences of EXACT angles in a row, after I reposition the robot, would be statistically impossible, barring a forest growing in rows like corn). Would I just calculate the position again and hope for the best? Or would I somehow incorporate my previous position estimate into my next guess? If this exists, I'd like to read about it, and if not, develop it as a side project. I just don't have time to reinvent the wheel right now, nor have the time to implement this from scratch. So if it doesn't exist, I'll have to figure out another way to localize the robot since that's not the aim of this research, if it does, lets hope it's semi-easy.

  • XSLT: Display unique rows of filtered XML recordset

  • Simplest way to match array of strings to search in perl?

    - by Ben Dauphinee
What I want to do is check an array of strings against my search string and get the corresponding key so I can store it. Is there a magical way of doing this with Perl, or am I doomed to using a loop? If so, what is the most efficient way to do this? I'm relatively new to Perl (I've only written 2 other scripts), so I don't know a lot of the magic yet, just that Perl is magic =D Reference Array: (1 = 'Canon', 2 = 'HP', 3 = 'Sony') Search String: Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-S600 End Result: 3

  • How to enforce this constraint in sql server

    - by Jeremy
I have a table called city, and a table called city_city. city_city correlates two city records, so it has a fromcity_id and a tocity_id. I can enforce uniqueness on fromcity_id and and tocity_id through a unique key, but how do I enforce uniqueness so that I cant insert a record if fromcity_id and tocity_id are reversed. For example, the following records are conceptually the same: id fromcity_id tocity_id 1 100 200 2 200 100

  • Git dirctet acyclic graph - children know their parents but not the other way around

    - by dayscott
Git is implemented as a directed acyclic graph. Children know their parents but not the other way round. This makes sense because i can reach every commit only through a branch or a tag ( generally speaking through a reference). That's how i traverse the tree. What other reasons had the developers of Git to make "the children know their parents but not the other way around"?/ What are the key benefits of this?

  • How do I create a list or set object in a class in Python?

    - by Az
For my project, the role of the Lecturer (defined as a class) is to offer projects to students. Project itself is also a class. I have some global dictionaries, keyed by the unique numeric id's for lecturers and projects that map to objects. Thus for the "lecturers" dictionary (currently): lecturer[id] = Lecturer(lec_name, lec_id, max_students) I'm currently reading in a white-space delimited text file that has been generated from a database. I have no direct access to the database so I haven't much say on how the file is formatted. Here's a fictionalised snippet that shows how the text file is structured. Please pardon the cheesiness. 0001 001 "Miyamoto, S." "Even Newer Super Mario Bros" 0002 001 "Miyamoto, S." "Legend of Zelda: Skies of Hyrule" 0003 002 "Molyneux, P." "Project Milo" 0004 002 "Molyneux, P." "Fable III" 0005 003 "Blow, J." "Ponytail" The structure of each line is basically proj_id, lec_id, lec_name, proj_name. Now, I'm currently reading the relevant data into the relevant objects. Thus, proj_id is stored in class Project whereas lec_name is a class Lecturer object, et al. The Lecturer and Project classes are not currently related. However, as I read in each line from the text file, for that line, I wish to read in the project offered by the lecturer into the Lecturer class; I'm already reading the proj_id into the Project class. I'd like to create an object in Lecturer called offered_proj which should be a set or list of the projects offered by that lecturer. Thus whenever, for a line, I read in a new project under the same lec_id, offered_proj will be updated with that project. If I wanted to get display a list of projects offered by a lecturer I'd ideally just want to use print lecturers[lec_id].offered_proj. My Python isn't great and I'd appreciate it if someone could show me a way to do that. I'm not sure if it's better as a set or a list, as well. Update After the advice from Alex Martelli and Oddthinking I went back and made some changes and tried to print the results. Here's the code snippet: for line in csv_file: proj_id = int(line[0]) lec_id = int(line[1]) lec_name = line[2] proj_name = line[3] projects[proj_id] = Project(proj_id, proj_name) lecturers[lec_id] = Lecturer(lec_id, lec_name) if lec_id in lecturers.keys(): lecturers[lec_id].offered_proj.add(proj_id) print lec_id, lecturers[lec_id].offered_proj The print lecturers[lec_id].offered_proj line prints the following output: 001 set([0001]) 001 set([0002]) 002 set([0003]) 002 set([0004]) 003 set([0005]) It basically feels like the set is being over-written or somesuch. So if I try to print for a specific lecturer print lec_id, lecturers[001].offered_proj all I get is the last the proj_id that has been read in.

But for some reason i get this exception: `At least one range query boundary term must be non-empty term` How would i debug this? Is it just Zend_Search_Lucene being buggy?

  • derby + hibernate ConstraintViolationException using manytomany relationships

Hi, I'm new to Hibernate+Derby... I've seen this issue mentioned throughout the google, but have not seen a proper resolution. This following code works fine with mysql, but when I try this on derby i get exceptions: ( each Tag has two sets of files and vise-versa - manytomany) Tags.java @Entity @Table(name="TAGS") public class Tags implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) public long getId() { return id; } @ManyToMany(targetEntity=Files.class ) @ForeignKey(name="USER_TAGS_FILES",inverseName="USER_FILES_TAGS") @JoinTable(name="USERTAGS_FILES", joinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="TAGS_ID"), inverseJoinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="FILES_ID")) public Set<data.Files> getUserFiles() { return userFiles; } @ManyToMany(mappedBy="autoTags", targetEntity=data.Files.class) public Set<data.Files> getAutoFiles() { return autoFiles; } Files.java @Entity @Table(name="FILES") public class Files implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) public long getId() { return id; } @ManyToMany(mappedBy="userFiles", targetEntity=data.Tags.class) public Set getUserTags() { return userTags; } @ManyToMany(targetEntity=Tags.class ) @ForeignKey(name="AUTO_FILES_TAGS",inverseName="AUTO_TAGS_FILES") @JoinTable(name="AUTOTAGS_FILES", joinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="FILES_ID"), inverseJoinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="TAGS_ID")) public Set getAutoTags() { return autoTags; } I add some data to the DB, but when running over Derby these exception turn up (the don't using mysql) Exceptions SEVERE: DELETE on table 'FILES' caused a violation of foreign key constraint 'USER_FILES_TAGS' for key (3). • Is it possible to gzip and upload this string to Amazon S3 without ever being written to disk?

    - by BigJoe714
    I know this is probably possible using Streams, but I wasn't sure the correct syntax. I would like to pass a string to the Save method and have it gzip the string and upload it to Amazon S3 without ever being written to disk. The current method inefficiently reads/writes to disk in between. The S3 PutObjectRequest has a constructor with InputStream input as an option. import java.io.*; import java.util.zip.GZIPOutputStream; import com.amazonaws.auth.PropertiesCredentials; import com.amazonaws.services.s3.AmazonS3; import com.amazonaws.services.s3.AmazonS3Client; import com.amazonaws.services.s3.model.PutObjectRequest; public class FileStore { public static void Save(String data) throws IOException { File file = File.createTempFile("filemaster-", ".htm"); file.deleteOnExit(); Writer writer = new OutputStreamWriter(new FileOutputStream(file)); writer.write(data); writer.flush(); writer.close(); String zippedFilename = gzipFile(file.getAbsolutePath()); File zippedFile = new File(zippedFilename); zippedFile.deleteOnExit(); AmazonS3 s3 = new AmazonS3Client(new PropertiesCredentials( new FileInputStream("AwsCredentials.properties"))); String bucketName = "mybucket"; String key = "test/" + zippedFile.getName(); s3.putObject(new PutObjectRequest(bucketName, key, zippedFile)); } public static String gzipFile(String filename) throws IOException { try { // Create the GZIP output stream String outFilename = filename + ".gz"; GZIPOutputStream out = new GZIPOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(outFilename)); // Open the input file FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(filename); // Transfer bytes from the input file to the GZIP output stream byte[] buf = new byte[1024]; int len; while ((len = in.read(buf)) > 0) { out.write(buf, 0, len); } in.close(); // Complete the GZIP file out.finish(); out.close(); return outFilename; } catch (IOException e) { throw e; } } }
