  • A version of the Windows "FILE:" port which does not prompt for the file name but autogenerates one.

    - by Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen
Hi. I have a process where one of the things to do is to capture the output from a print into a file for further processing. For this I have configured a "FILE:" printer port which works very nicely but asks everytime for the file name to use. Unfortunately "FILE" is not a very descriptive word when trying to use a search engine :( Is there a small driver somewhere which does exactly the same as the FILE: driver, but can automatically generate a filename (perhaps based on a pattern) and just print to that?

  • Strip tags but not those inside <code>

    - by dantan
I have seen some solutions, or at least tries, but none of them really work. How do I strip all tags except those inside or [code] - and replace all the < and with &lt; etc. in order to let js do some syntax highlighting on the output?

  • capistrano initial deployment

I'm trying to set up Capistrano to deploy to an AWS box. This is the first time I've tried to set this up, so please bear with me. • code doesnot delete specific extra files but deletes all, also no recursion for directory, help me t

    - by OM The Eternity
    I have to compare two folder structure and with reference of source folder I want to delete all the files/folders present in other destination folder which do not exist in reference source folder, how could i do this? $original = scan_dir_recursive('/var/www/html/copy2'); $mirror = scan_dir_recursive('/var/www/html/copy1'); function scan_dir_recursive($dir) { $all_paths = array(); $new_paths = scandir($dir); foreach ($new_paths as $path) { if ($path == '.' || $path == '..') { continue; } $path = $dir . DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR . $path; if (is_dir($path)) { $all_paths = array_merge($all_paths, scan_dir_recursive($path)); } else { $all_paths[] = $path; } } return $all_paths; } foreach($mirror as $mirr) { if($mirr != '.' && $mirr != '..') { if(!in_array($mirr, $original)) { unlink($mirr); // delete the file } } } The above code shows what i did.. Here My copy1 folder contains extra files than copy2 folders hence i need these extra files to be deleted. Below given output is are arrays of original Mirror and of difference of both.. Original Array ( [0] => /var/www/html/copy2/Copy (5) of New Text Document.txt [1] => /var/www/html/copy2/Copy of New Text Document.txt ) Mirror Array ( [0] => /var/www/html/copy1/Copy (2) of New Text Document.txt [1] => /var/www/html/copy1/Copy (3) of New Text Document.txt [2] => /var/www/html/copy1/Copy (5) of New Text Document.txt ) Difference Array ( [0] => /var/www/html/copy1/Copy (2) of New Text Document.txt [1] => /var/www/html/copy1/Copy (3) of New Text Document.txt [2] => /var/www/html/copy1/Copy (5) of New Text Document.txt ) when i iterate a loop to delete on difference array all files has to be deleted as per displayed output.. how can i rectify this.. the loop for deletion is given below. $dirs_to_delete = array(); foreach ($diff_path as $path) { if (is_dir($path)) { $dirs_to_delete[] = $path; } else { unlink($path); } } while ($dir = array_pop($dirs_to_delete)) { rmdir($dir); }

  • Metaprogramming on web server

    - by bobobobo
From time to time, I find myself writing server code that produces JavaScript code as the output result. I can point out why it is really bad: Inextricable tie between server code and client code. Can render client code un-reusable. But sometimes, it just seems to make sense. And isn't it kinda sorta interesting? I guess the question is, is writing server code that produces JavaScript code a really bad practice, or "does everyone do it"?

  • Best practices for handling binary data in Ruby?

    - by StackedCrooked
What are the best practices for reading and writing binary data in Ruby? In the code sample below I needed to send a binary file using over HTTP (as POST data): f = File.new("resp.der", "r") # binary file begin while true out.syswrite(f.sysread(1)) # out is an output stream (type IO) end rescue EOFError => err puts "Sent response." end While this code seems to do a good job, it probably isn't very idiomatic. How can I improve it?

  • Linked List manipulation, issues retrieving data c++

    - by floatfil
I'm trying to implement some functions to manipulate a linked list. The implementation is a template typename T and the class is 'List' which includes a 'head' pointer and also a struct: struct Node { // the node in a linked list T* data; // pointer to actual data, operations in T Node* next; // pointer to a Node }; Since it is a template, and 'T' can be any data, how do I go about checking the data of a list to see if it matches the data input into the function? The function is called 'retrieve' and takes two parameters, the data and a pointer: bool retrieve(T target, T*& ptr); // This is the prototype we need to use for the project "bool retrieve : similar to remove, but not removed from list. If there are duplicates in the list, the first one encountered is retrieved. Second parameter is unreliable if return value is false. E.g., " Employee target("duck", "donald"); success = company1.retrieve(target, oneEmployee); if (success) { cout << "Found in list: " << *oneEmployee << endl; } And the function is called like this: company4.retrieve(emp3, oneEmployee) So that when you cout *oneEmployee, you'll get the data of that pointer (in this case the data is of type Employee). (Also, this is assuming all data types have the apropriate overloaded operators) I hope this makes sense so far, but my issue is in comparing the data in the parameter and the data while going through the list. (The data types that we use all include overloads for equality operators, so oneData == twoData is valid) This is what I have so far: template <typename T> bool List<T>::retrieve(T target , T*& ptr) { List<T>::Node* dummyPtr = head; // point dummy pointer to what the list's head points to for(;;) { if (*dummyPtr->data == target) { // EDIT: it now compiles, but it breaks here and I get an Access Violation error. ptr = dummyPtr->data; // set the parameter pointer to the dummy pointer return true; // return true } else { dummyPtr = dummyPtr->next; // else, move to the next data node } } return false; } Here is the implementation for the Employee class: //-------------------------- constructor ----------------------------------- Employee::Employee(string last, string first, int id, int sal) { idNumber = (id >= 0 && id <= MAXID? id : -1); salary = (sal >= 0 ? sal : -1); lastName = last; firstName = first; } //-------------------------- destructor ------------------------------------ // Needed so that memory for strings is properly deallocated Employee::~Employee() { } //---------------------- copy constructor ----------------------------------- Employee::Employee(const Employee& E) { lastName = E.lastName; firstName = E.firstName; idNumber = E.idNumber; salary = E.salary; } //-------------------------- operator= --------------------------------------- Employee& Employee::operator=(const Employee& E) { if (&E != this) { idNumber = E.idNumber; salary = E.salary; lastName = E.lastName; firstName = E.firstName; } return *this; } //----------------------------- setData ------------------------------------ // set data from file bool Employee::setData(ifstream& inFile) { inFile >> lastName >> firstName >> idNumber >> salary; return idNumber >= 0 && idNumber <= MAXID && salary >= 0; } //------------------------------- < ---------------------------------------- // < defined by value of name bool Employee::operator<(const Employee& E) const { return lastName < E.lastName || (lastName == E.lastName && firstName < E.firstName); } //------------------------------- <= ---------------------------------------- // < defined by value of inamedNumber bool Employee::operator<=(const Employee& E) const { return *this < E || *this == E; } //------------------------------- > ---------------------------------------- // > defined by value of name bool Employee::operator>(const Employee& E) const { return lastName > E.lastName || (lastName == E.lastName && firstName > E.firstName); } //------------------------------- >= ---------------------------------------- // < defined by value of name bool Employee::operator>=(const Employee& E) const { return *this > E || *this == E; } //----------------- operator == (equality) ---------------- // if name of calling and passed object are equal, // return true, otherwise false // bool Employee::operator==(const Employee& E) const { return lastName == E.lastName && firstName == E.firstName; } //----------------- operator != (inequality) ---------------- // return opposite value of operator== bool Employee::operator!=(const Employee& E) const { return !(*this == E); } //------------------------------- << --------------------------------------- // display Employee object ostream& operator<<(ostream& output, const Employee& E) { output << setw(4) << E.idNumber << setw(7) << E.salary << " " << E.lastName << " " << E.firstName << endl; return output; } I will include a check for NULL pointer but I just want to get this working and will test it on a list that includes the data I am checking. Thanks to whoever can help and as usual, this is for a course so I don't expect or want the answer, but any tips as to what might be going wrong will help immensely!

  • Unable to use getInt() but able to use getString() for a sqlite database

    - by mwrazam
I am using a cursor to access a sqlite database I have in my app. I am having trouble using the .getInt() on my database. My database is pre-created, and I have a few cursors that perform queries to interface with the information. Several of the columns in one of the tables are set as INTEGER type. I realize that sqlite has no built in check to make sure columns are indeed INT. However, when retrieving the data, I can use the .getString() function without any issues, but calling .getInt() causes the app to crash. Below is the relevant code. If I am missing anything, please let me know, and I'll add it in. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. Cursor: public Cursor getSkitStats(int module, int skit) { Cursor mCursor = myDataBase.rawQuery("SELECT * FROM score WHERE mod="+module+" AND skit="+skit+"", null); if (mCursor != null) { mCursor.moveToFirst(); } return mCursor; } and I am using a simple Toast call to output the result of the query: Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), scoreContent.getInt(0), Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); The variable scoreContent is the cursor. And here is the crash output: 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:1659) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:1675) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$1500(ActivityThread.java:121) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:943) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:130) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:3701) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:507) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:866) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:624) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): Caused by: android.content.res.Resources$NotFoundException: String resource ID #0x2 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.content.res.Resources.getText(Resources.java:205) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.widget.Toast.makeText(Toast.java:258) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at jp.atomicideas.ne.Summary.onCreate(Summary.java:90) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.Instrumentation.callActivityOnCreate(Instrumentation.java:1047) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:1623) 07-08 23:53:31.726: E/AndroidRuntime(15685): ... 11 more

  • PowerShell; Use Get-Member to Self Document Nested COM Object

    - by Zion
Anyone know how to use Get-Member to Recursively dump to a text file The entire properties|methods tree of a COM object? (The Output formatting of Get-Object is fine) Instead of giving me only the top level as in this example; New-Object -com AutoItX3.Control | Get-Member I need it to recurse the entire object to return results. If This is not possible, how would I dump the methods/properties of a sub object?

  • Copying files and dirs on remote server while excluding some of them

    - by llaskin
Server 1 is connected to Server 2 via SSH. We know this: I can execute a command such as " ssh server2 "cp -rv /var/www /tmp" " which will copy the entire /var/www dir to /tmp. However inside of /var/www we have the following structure(sample LS output below) $ ls /web1 /web2 /web3 file1.php file2.php file3.php How can I execute a cp command that will exclude /web1, /web3, file1.php and file3.php (obviously just copying web2 and file2 is not an option since there are significantly more files than just 6)

  • Linux-alternative to Fiddler2

    - by Epcylon
I have used Fiddler2 with great results on windows before, but now I have moved to using linux for development. The problem I have, is that I have not been able to find a decent replacement for Fiddler2 that will run on linux. I have tried Wireshark, but it is perhaps too generic in what it does, and I can never really make any sense of its output. What tools do you use on linux to debug/inspect web-traffic during development?

  • How do I debug a Unity Container "Resolve"?

    - by willem
I'm using the MS Unity container to do dependency injection, but a "Resolve" is returning unexpected results. Is there an way I can debug this resolution? It would be great if I could view what Types/Instances are registered in the container, but I can't see where this is stored when using QuickWatch. It would also be useful if I could get the container to output some debug Traces. Any suggestions?

  • At What point should you understand References?

    - by Vaccano
I asked a question like this in an interview for a entry level programmer: var instance1 = new myObject{Value = "hello"} var instance2 = instance1; instance1.Value = "bye"; Console.WriteLine(instance1.Value); Console.WriteLine(instance2.Value); The applicant responded with "hello", "bye" as the output. Some of my co-workers said that "pointers" are not that important anymore or that this question is not a real judge of ability. Are they right?
