• What could make GetCursorPos return incorrect coordinates of {0,0} ?

  We are seeing bad behavior in an application when it runs on Server 2008 (not R2). This is a WinForms application, and Control.MousePosition is returning {0,0} no matter where the mouse is on the screen... Control.MousePosition just makes a P/Invoke call to Win32 api GetCursorPos(). There is a control in our library that calls SetWindowsHookEx to hook WH_CALLWNDPROCRET for our entire process. I'm suspicious of this code, but tracing statements show that we're getting in + out of that hook cleanly. What else should I be looking for? Thanks, Dave

• Ruby fixtures error with password column

  I am trying to load a fixture for my tests which has a password column (binary datatype). The tool i am using uses EzCrypto gem for encrypting and decrypting passwords before they are stored/retrieved. Now if my column is binary i thought rails would automatically store the password as encrypted - but all i get is: 1) Error: test_is_working(FirstTest): RuntimeError: Failed to decode the field.   Hi I need to verify in my WPF application if the user log in to his computer via password or via smart-card. Both login options are available in my company clients but my application need to open only in the smart-card login. All the clients are windows 7 OS. • TTRequestLoader always raises "TTDASSERT failed: _cacheKey == request.cacheKey"

  I run the TTCatalog application from the Three20 library and encountered this error when click on the "Photo Thumbnails" of the "Three20 Catalog": TTDASSERT failed: _cacheKey == request.cacheKey I look at the breakpoint and see that it is on line 119 of TTRequestLoader.m of the method addRequest. I know that it failed to do the assertion of the cacheKey, but why this error appears even on the sample application, does anyone encounter the same error? What is the workaround of this? Thanks, P/S: I downloaded the Three20 from the git directory just yesterday. So I assume this be the newest one.

When I attach Intel's debugger (IDB) the application runs through successfully. How do I debug a bug where the debugger prevents the bug? Note that the same bug arose with gfortran. • How do i deploy UAT and Development SharePoint solution on the same server ?

  I am working on a SharePoint 2010 Server and i have following items in my SharePoint solution Couple of web parts State Machine Work flow (which will be integrated to an Infopath form library) Infopath task edit forms Lets say this solutions is deployed to http://[SharePoint201Server]:[PortNumber-x]/ This is the only server i have (No extra server for UAT), and what ever has been done so far needs to be given for user acceptance testing (UAT). I may create one more site at http://[SharePoint201Server]:[PortNumber-y]/ for it. My problme is that how do i maintain two copies of my source code ? I will have to continue development on the same set of source code for next UAT release. I simply can not create simple copies of the source code as it will have same Assembly name and feature id, etc..As if i do so, any changes on under Development source code would affect UAT assemblies. One thing i can do is to create seperate projects for UAT and Development with different Features and Assembly names, but is not that too much of an unneccesory work ? What can be the best approach in such situation ?

• XSLT: Is there a way to "inherit" canned functionality?

  i am once again having to cobble together a bit of XSLT into order to turn generated XML into (rather than simply generating HTML). i'm having huge deja-vu this time again. i'm once again having to solve again basic problems, e.g.: how to convert characters into valid html entity references how to preserve whitespace/carriage returns when converting to html how to convert to HTML as opposed to xhtml how to convert dates from xml format into presentable format how to tear apart strings with substring This is all stuff that i've solved many times before. But every time i come back to XSLT i have to start from scratch, re-inventing the wheel every time. If it were a programming language i would have a library of canned functions and procedures i can call. i would have subroutines to perform the commonly repeated tasks. i would inherit from a base class that already implements the ugly boilerplate stuff. Is there any way in XSLT to grow, expand and improve the ecosystem with canned code?

  I've played around a bit with twitter4j and found it absolutely wonderful. Now I've been looking into the equivalent for facebook but so far haven't had much luck finding a decent project. I looked into facebook-java-api but it appears that they break their API from release to release. I consider this unacceptable. I'm currently playing around a bit with RestFB and the API seems decent so far but I've been having some connection problems. I'm just looking for a simple library that lets me post status updates, send direct messages and get a list of friends through minimal coding effort. Has anyone had any success using a java API for facebook and if so, what are you using? Thanks.

• Arrays of pointers to arrays?

  I'm using a library which for one certain feature involves variables like so: extern const u8 foo[]; extern const u8 bar[]; I am not allowed to rename these variables in any way. However, I like to be able to access these variables through an array (or other similar method) so that I do not need to continually hardcode new instances of these variables into my main code. My first attempt at creating an array is as follows: const u8* pl[] = { &foo, &bar }; This gave me the error cannot convert 'const u8 (*)[]' to 'const u8*' in initialization, and with help elsewhere along with some Googling, I changed my array to this: u8 (*pl)[] = { &foo, &bar }; Upon compiling I now get the error scalar object 'pl' requires one element in initializer. Does anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

• C++ to bytecode compiler for Silverlight CLR?

  I'd like to be able to compile a C/C++ library so that it runs within a safe managed runtime in the Silverlight CLR. There are several tools for doing this with the JVM that allows C++ code to run within a CRT emulation layer (see NestedVM, LLJVM, etc), which effectively allows C++ code to be run within a Java Applet. There's even a tool for this for the Adobe Flash VM (see Alchemy). However, I can't seem to find any tools like this for the CLR. fyi, the MSVC tools don't seem to allow for this: The /clr:pure flag will create C++ code that runs in the CLR, but it isn't safe (because the CRT isn't safe) and /clr:safe requires massive code changes (no native types, etc).

  I am trying to build a template geographic database for PostGIS (1.5) on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) for my GeoDjango application. I am following: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/gis/install/#creating-a-spatial-database-template-for-postgis I've managed to come up to the point where the provided postgis.sql should be run (i.e. psql -d template_postgis -f $POSTGIS_SQL_PATH/postgis.sql) At that point I am getting an error at the first SQL statement that is tried to be run.   How does one combine two GCC compiled .o object files into a third .o file? $ gcc -c a.c -o a.o $ gcc -c b.c -o b.o $ ??? a.o b.o -o c.o $ gcc c.o other.o -o executable If you have access to the source files the -combine GCC flag will merge the source files before compilation: $ gcc -c -combine a.c b.c -o c.o However this only works for source files, and GCC does not accept .o files as input for this command. Normally, linking .o files does not work properly, as you cannot use the output of the linker as input for it. • 10035 error on a blocking socket

  Does anyone have any idea what could cause a 10035 error (EWOULDBLOCK) when reading on a blocking socket with a timeout? This is under Windows XP using the .NET framework version 3.5 socket library. I've never managed to get this myself, but one of my colleagues is getting it all the time. He's sending reasonably large amounts of data to a much slower device and then waiting for a response, which often gives a 10035 error. I'm wondering if there could be issues with TCP buffers filling up, but in that case I would expect the read to wait or timeount. The socket is definitely blocking, not non-blocking.

  I have images which have line segments, rays etc. I am representing these line segments using Bresenham algorithm (means whatever coordinates I get using this algorithm between two points). Now I want to do operations such as finding intersection point between two line segments, finding the projection of one vector onto other etc... The problem is I am not working in continuous space. The line segments are being approximated using Bresenham algorithm. So I want suggestions on what are the best and most efficient ways to do this? A link to C++ library or implementation would also be good enough. Please suggest some books which deal with such problems.

  I will have one streaming-server (W2k8, unknown streaming protocol [rtsp, mss, http]) and half dozen streaming-servers as proxies to save bandwidth. I have read the documentation and installed the modules, but I am unsure how I have to configure the proxy's according to http://technet.microsoft.com/de-de/library/ee126142(en-us,WS.10).aspx - as a proxy or reverse proxy and how I minimize the bandwidth needs between origin server and proxy's. What is the best way to realize my setup? Any short how-tos? How can I announce all players to use the proxy? Route all rtsp/mms/http-requests through my proxy? Announce the proxy with DHCP-releases? I'm looking to be able to handle something like: java myapp [-l language] [-d int] [-f file1 file2 file3] I want to do this in a robust way so I can provide logical error messages to the user if they mistake a command line-option. • Good reasons to migrate PHP libraries to namespaces

  I have a significant number of object libraries written for PHP 5.2.5, and I'm trying to weigh the benefits of retrofitting them for namespaces. I don't have any concerns about the server PHP version at the moment, since any relevant machines are under my control, so I'm not worried about backwards compatibility. As far as the structure of the libraries, I use the same convention as Zend Framework, (Library_Module_Class_Name e.g.) so I don't currently have any naming conflicts internal to the libraries. I'd anticipate moving the Library and Module parts of those classnames to namespaces. That said, if the code is already written, is there any good reason to move over to namespaces? Thanks, Joe

  So I don't have the code right now, as I am not home... but i used the boost library for python in C++ to allow python to access a function called something like loadImageIntoMainWindow(string filepath) in the C++ source code the method calls opencv methods that are imported at the top of the file, I included opencv in my Jamroot file, and also found a way to compile and link manually on the command line... in either case when I run my python file it complains that the symbols aren't found for the first function call to an opencv method... I will update as soon as I get home with the C++, the command line compilation lines, the Jamroot, and the python files
