• [Android] Is disabling landscape mode unforgivable?

  Our application could support landscape mode without any problem, but it is such a pain that we are thinking about forcing portrait mode. Question: Is it BAD? The main problem is that changing orientation generates random crashes on many screens. Avoiding those crashes would potentially allow us to spend more time on the core aspects of the app. Will the same crashes happen when users switch apps anyway? Also, are there landscape-oriented devices where our app will become useless?

  I have a shared site in sharepoint and have some RSS feed webpart in it so now everytime my site opens up it shows this popup. I know I can remove the popup by going to IE options and stuff but my question is if there is any way that i can remove it permanently because I can't tell my users to follow this process but I have lot of complaints because of this popup. Any suggestions?

I need to store a somewhat large number of user preferences in cookies (for not-yet-registered users), so what would be the best way of doing that? • Camping: Return user to recent entries, but keep errors

  Users can view a specific entry in my webapp with a URL. /entry/8, for example. If an entry doesn't exist, "Entry not found" gets appended to @messages and I render an error page. I'd like to redirect the user to /recent, but I can't figure out a good way to keep the error message around to be displayed. There are other actions that need to take place in the Recent controller, so I can't just duplicate the query and render :posts.

The only thing I could find was http://kevinlochner.com/handling-unsubscribe-requests-in-ruby-on-rail which works but is somewhat unsophisticated and lacks features such as which type of emails to unsubscribe from. It also doesnt include the mechanism for users to unsubscribe. We using ActionMailer.

  Can someone please direct me to process for doing this? I have already done the Login verification exercise using mySQL for the dbase on my host server (thanks to kiksy). Now I am trying to move forward and "Query" from the iPhone a list of "users" that currently occupy the table (iphoneusers) in MySQL. And of course get it back to the iPhone via the php connection. This is just my way of thinking. Is there a better way to do this? Also, what is a good naming convention for tables that link two other tables?
