  • WPF: Combine Geometries / Canvas for Geometries?

    - by stefan.at.wpf
Hello, I have 2 geometries A and B which I'd like to combine like shown at the end of the following drawing: http://www.imagebanana.com/view/9vm6zoy/geocombine.png How could one do this? Is there something like a "virtual canvas for geometries" where I can place A and B, move B accordingly and then get a geometrie from this? Thanks for any hint!

  • How to load a binary file(.bin) of size 6 MB in a varbinary(MAX) column of SQL Server 2005 database

    - by Feroz Khan
    How to load a binary file(.bin) of size 6 MB in a varbinary(MAX) column of SQL Server 2005 database using ADO in vc++ application. This is the code I am using to load the file which I used to load a .bmp file BOOL CSaveView::PutECGInDB(CString strFilePath, FieldPtr pFileData) { //Open File CFile fileImage; CFileStatus fileStatus; fileImage.Open(strFilePath,CFile::modeRead); fileImage.GetStatus(fileStatus); //Alocating memory for data ULONG nBytes = (ULONG)fileStatus.m_size; HGLOBAL hGlobal = GlobalAlloc(GPTR,nBytes); LPVOID lpData = GlobalLock(hGlobal); //Putting data into file fileImage.Read(lpData,nBytes); HRESULT hr; _variant_t varChunk; long lngOffset = 0; UCHAR chData; SAFEARRAY FAR *psa = NULL; SAFEARRAYBOUND rgsabound[1]; try { //Create a safe array to store the BYTES rgsabound[0].lLbound = 0; rgsabound[0].cElements = nBytes; psa = SafeArrayCreate(VT_UI1,1,rgsabound); while(lngOffset<(long)nBytes) { chData = ((UCHAR*)lpData)[lngOffset]; hr = SafeArrayPutElement(psa,&lngOffset,&chData); if(hr != S_OK) { return false; } lngOffset++; } lngOffset = 0; //Assign the safe array to a varient varChunk.vt = VT_ARRAY|VT_UI1; varChunk.parray = psa; hr = pFileData-AppendChunk(varChunk); if(hr != S_OK) { return false; } } catch(_com_error &e) { //get info from _com_error _bstr_t bstrSource(e.Source()); _bstr_t bstrDescription(e.Description()); _bstr_t bstrErrorMessage(e.ErrorMessage()); _bstr_t bstrErrorCode(e.Error()); TRACE("Exception thrown for classes generated by #import"); TRACE("\tCode= %08lx\n",(LPCSTR)bstrErrorCode); TRACE("\tCode Meaning = %s\n",(LPCSTR)bstrErrorMessage); TRACE("\tSource = %s\n",(LPCSTR)bstrSource); TRACE("\tDescription = %s\n",(LPCSTR)bstrDescription); } catch(...) { TRACE("Unhandle Exception"); } //Free Memory GlobalUnlock(lpData); return true; } But when I read the same file using Getchunk funcion it gives me all 0,s but the size of the file I get is same as the one uploaded. Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Cloud computing?

    - by Shawn H
I'm an analyst and intermediate programmer working for a consulting company. Sometimes we are doing some intensive computing in Excel which can be frustrating because we have slow computers. My company does not have enough money to buy everyone new computers right now. Is there a cloud computing service that allows me to login to a high performance virtual computer from remote desktop? We are not that technical so preferrably the computer is running Windows and I can run Excel and other applications from this computer. Thanks

  • Any good open source online RPG starter kit for development ?

    - by Andrew Sky
Hi there, Does anyone know of a good open source toolkit that allows level designer and graphic designer or someone with basic programming experience to create multiplayer online Role Playing Game ? The game can be a simple 2D interface in a 2d virtual world. I know Microsoft have a starter kit something like the following : http://creators.xna.com/en-US/starterkit/roleplayinggame that allows developer to create RPG game running on XBox platform but i am looking more on multiplayer role playing game on the web platform where player can play directly with their browser. regards Andrew

  • "Access 2002 vs SQL Server 200*" as DB for sharepoint

    - by Jake
I work with a team that has a sharepoint site currently runnning and its lists are linked to an access DB. My question is really on the investment level, what would be the reasons to upgrade DB to sharepoint if only a few 100 users access this site. Is there a real benefit to replacing the DB with a version of SQL Server, escpecially if about to replace Access 2002 with 2007 some day. I know SQL Server can handle more memory and traffic for more users, but I'm looking for more reasons than that if there are any.

  • What are shared by multi threads in the same process?

    - by skydoor
I found that each thread still has its own registers. Also has its own stack, but other threads can read and write the stack memory. My questions, what are shared by the multi threads in the same process? What I can imagine is 1) address space of the process; 2) stack, register; 3) variables Can any body elaborate it and add more?

  • How to change the coordinate origin in Flash's stage with Actionscript?

    - by Petruza
I think I did this before but can't find the code. Flash as many other graphical frameworks use the top-left corner as the coordinate origin (0,0) because it's how the underlying memory model is by convention. But it would be really simpler for my calculations if the origin was in the center of the stage, because all the game revolves around the center and uses a lot of trigonometry, angles, etc. Is there some built-in method like Stage::setOrigin( uint, uint ); or something like that?

  • Fortran bus error on mac

    - by SteveJ
The following Fortran code is giving me a bus error on my Mac but no errors when I run it on my Linux machine: PROGRAM TINY WRITE(UNIT=*, FMT=*) 'Hello, world!' END My understanding is that a bus error occurs when the program attempts to access impossible memory but I do not understand where such an attempt has been made in this program. My MacBook has GCC 4.4.0 and my Linux machine has GCC 4.3.2. Any ideas as to why this error occurs?

  • Fiddler - Daily stop start

    - by weismat
What is the best way to stop/start Fiddler as a daily task? I am usin Fiddler to monitor/logs https trafficon machine which runs fully automated and runs software which is not controlled by me, but uses https. My machine stopped yesterday because Fiddler went out of memory after running over 3 days and now I want to have a clean way to start/stop it. I guess I could just specify a process duration in the task manager, but I would prefer something cleaner, especially to avoid issues when things are started manually.

  • C#: BackgroundWorker cloning resources?

    - by Dav
The problem I've been struggling with this partiular problem for two days now and just run out of ideas. A little... background: we have a WinForms app that needs to access a database, construct a list of related in-memory objects from that data, and then display on a DataGridView. Important point is that we first populate an app-wide cache (List), and then create a mirror of the cache local to the form on which the DGV lives (using List constructor param). Because fetching the data takes a good few seconds (DB sits on a LAN server) to load, we decided to use a BackgroundWorker, and only refresh the DGV once the data is loaded. However, it seems that doing the loading via a BGW results in some memory leak... or an error on my part. When loaded using a blocking method call, the app consumes about 30MB of RAM; with a BGW this jumps to 80MB! While it may not seem as much anyway, our clients are not too happy about it. Relevant code Form private void MyForm_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { MyRepository.Instance.FinishedEvent += RefreshCache; } private void RefreshCache(object sender, EventArgs e) { dgvProducts.DataSource = new List<MyDataObj>(MyRepository.Products); } Repository private static List<MyDataObj> Products { get; set; } public event EventHandler ProductsLoaded; public void GetProductsSync() { List<MyDataObj> p; using (MyL2SDb db = new MyL2SDb(MyConfig.ConnectionString)) { p = db.PRODUCTS .Select(p => new MyDataObj {Id = p.ID, Description = p.DESCR}) .ToList(); } Products = p; // tell the form to refresh UI if (ProductsLoaded != null) ProductsLoaded(this, null); } public void GetProductsAsync() { using (BackgroundWorker myWorker = new BackgroundWorker()) { myWorker.DoWork += delegate { List<MyDataObj> p; using (MyL2SDb db = new MyL2SDb(MyConfig.ConnectionString)) { p = db.PRODUCTS .Select(p => new MyDataObj {Id = p.ID, Description = p.DESCR}) .ToList(); } Products = p; }; // tell the form to refresh UI when finished myWorker.RunWorkerCompleted += GetProductsCompleted; myWorker.RunWorkerAsync(); } } private void GetProductsCompleted(object sender, RunWorkerCompletedEventArgs e) { if (ProductsLoaded != null) ProductsLoaded(this, null); } End! GetProductsSync or GetProductsAsync are called on the main thread, not shown above. Could it be that the GarbageCollector just gets lost with two threads? Or is it the task manager that shows incorrect values? Will be greateful for any responses, suggestions, criticism.

  • Total stack sizes of threads in one process

    - by David
I use pthreads_attr_getthreadsizes() to get default stack size of one thread, 8MB on my machine. But when I create 8 threads and allocate a very large stack size to them, say hundreds of MB, the program crash. So, I guess, shall ("Number of threads" x "stack size of per thread") shall less than a value(virtual memory size)?

  • List of Lua derived VMs and Languages

    - by Shane Holloway
Is there a compendium of virtual machines and languages derived or inspired by Lua? By derived, I mean usage beyond embedding and extending with modules. I'm wanting to research the Lua technology tree, and am looking for our combined knowledge of what already exists. Current List: Bright - A C-like Lua Derivative http://bluedino.net/luapix/Bright.pdf Agena - An Algol68/SQL like Lua Derivative http://agena.sourceforge.net/ LuaJIT - A (very impressive) JIT for Lua http://luajit.org MetaLua - An ML-style language extension http://metalua.luaforge.net/

  • JPA - How to truncate tables between unit tests

    - by Theo
I want to cleanup the database after every test case without rolling back the transaction. I have tried DBUnit's DatabaseOperation.DELETE_ALL, but it does not work if a deletion violates a foreign key constraint. I know that I can disable foreign key checks, but that would also disable the checks for the tests (which I want to prevent). I'm using JUnit 4, JPA 2.0 (Eclipselink), and Derby's in-memory database. Any ideas? Thanks, Theo

  • See images in SSMS?

    - by Vaccano
I was browsing around and found this blog post: http://erikej.blogspot.com/2010/04/version-3-of-exportsqlce-now-available.html (It is for a great add in if you user SQL Server CE.) On that post I saw an screen shot of SSMS with images in the results. How is this done? I have images in my database (PNG files that are serialized via memory stream), but I just see numbers when I select the image column.

  • Program compiled with MSVC 9 won't start on a vanilla SP3 XP

    - by jemper
I installed XP on a virtual machine, updated it to SP3 and then tested a small program compiled with Visual C++ 2008 on my real computer - however it didn't start but outputted only an error saying that a problem had been detected and that a reinstall of the application (mine is 10KB in size and doesn't even have an installation) could fix the problem. What is required to run programs compiled with MSVC 9? Can I just include some dlls for it to work everywhere?

  • Read and write directly from and to compressed files in C

    - by victor
Hi, in Java I think it is possible to cruise through jar files like they were not compressed. Is there some similar (and portable) thing in C/C++ ? I would like to import binary data into memory from a large (zipped or similar) file without decompressing to disk first and afterwards writing to disk in a compressed way. Maybe some trick with shell pipes and the zip utility?
