• Increase the height of Flex Container dynamically and introduce scrollbar on the browser

  Hi, I am trying to increase the height of container with increase in the number of contents inside the container. Like in my case i m using tileList inside tabNavigator , when I put contents inside the tileList, the height of tileList does not increase beyond vertical height of the viewport. It puts scrollbar on the container. I want to increase the height of an flex container with increase in the contents and introduce scrollbar on the browser with increase in contents in the flex container. Could anybody please suggest me how I could achieve this. Thanks in advance.

• vim command to restructure/force text to 80 columns

  I know there are ways to automatically set the width of text in vim using set textwidth (like http://stackoverflow.com/questions/235439/vim-80-column-layout-concerns). What I am looking for is something similar to = (the indent line command) but to wrap to 80. The use case is sometimes you edit text with textwidth and after joining lines or deleting/adding text it comes out poorly wrapped. Ideally, this command would completely reorganize the lines I select and chop off long lines while adding to short ones. An example: long line is long! short After running the command (assuming the wrap was 13 cols): long line is long! short If this isn't possible with a true vim command, perhaps there is a command-line program which does this that I can pipe the input to?

• How do you get the glyph for a character encoded as '&#333;' from a utf-8 encoded database field usi

  I have a MySQL database table with a collation of 'utf8_general_ci' and the value in the field is: x & #299; bán yá wén (without the spaces). When this is converted (for example by StackOverflow's editor) it looks like this: xī bán yá wén where the second character looks like a lower case i with a bar over the top. In PHP, what function converts the & #299 ; entity into the ī character? I've tried using html_entity_decode($str,ENT_COMPAT,'UTF-8'), however I get characters like the following: yÄ«n wén or zhÅ•ng wén I'm pretty sure there's something I don't understand about the decoding, which is why I'm using the wrong function. Can anyone shed some light on how to get the single character glyph that's represented by the entity & #299 and similar high-number characters above 255? Many thanks, AE

• Scapy PcapReader and packets time

  I'm reading a PCAP file using Scapy using a script such as the (semplified) following one: #! /usr/bin/env python from scapy.all import * # ... myreader = PcapReader(myinputfile) for p in myreader: pkt = p.payload print pkt.time In this case the packets time is not relative to PCAP capture time, but starts from the instant I've launched my script. I'd like to start from 0.0 or to be relative to the PCAP capture. How can I fix it (possibly without "manually" retrieving the first packet time and repeatedly using math to fix the problem)?

• Why can't sub-packages see package private classes?

  Okay so, I have this project structure: package A.B class SuperClass (this class is marked package private) package A.B.C class SubClass (inherits from super class) I'd rather not make SuperClass publicly visible... It is really just a utility class for this specific project (A.B). It seems to me that SubClass should be able to see SuperClass, because package A.B.C is a subpackage of A.B... but this is not the case. What would be the best way to resolve this issue? I don't think it makes sense to move everything in A.B.C up to A.B or move A.B down to A.B.C... mainly because there will probably be an A.B.D which inherits from stuff in A.B as well... I'm a bit new to Java, so be nice :D (I'm a C++ and .NET guy)

• How to check for duplicate files?

  I have an external hard drive on which I have backed up files several times. Some files were modified between backups, others were not. Some may have been renamed. Now I'm running out of space, and I'd like to clean up duplicate files. My idea was to md5sum every file on the drive, then look for duplicates, and diff the relevant files (just in case, haha). Is this the best way to do this? What are some other methods of checking for duplicate files?

• Linq to sql Error "Data at the root level is invalid " for nullable xml column

In further investigation I come to know that the meta column is null in that case. In real it is nullable Do I have to remove the nullable and set some blank root node as default or there is some another way to get rid of the error. My linq Query which throws error var obj1= (from obj in dbContext.tab1s where obj.id== 123 select obj).FirstOrDefault<Tab1>();

  We are using drag & drop utility between one source and multiple targets. We have a restriction that one of the target can only have one child element while the other ones can have multiple items. • Initialize Pointer Through Function

  I was browsing my teacher's code when I stumbled across this: Order* order1 = NULL; then order1 = order(customer1, product2); which calls Order* order(Customer* customer, Product* product) { return new Order(customer, product); } This looks like silly code. I'm not sure why, but the teacher initialized all pointers to NULL instead of declaring them right away(looking at the code it's entirely possible, but he chose not to). My question is: is this good or acceptable code? Does the function call have any benefits over calling a constructor explicitely? And how does new work in this case? Can I imagine the code now as kind of like: order1 = new Order(customer, product);

• 10035 error on a blocking socket

  Does anyone have any idea what could cause a 10035 error (EWOULDBLOCK) when reading on a blocking socket with a timeout? This is under Windows XP using the .NET framework version 3.5 socket library. I've never managed to get this myself, but one of my colleagues is getting it all the time. He's sending reasonably large amounts of data to a much slower device and then waiting for a response, which often gives a 10035 error. I'm wondering if there could be issues with TCP buffers filling up, but in that case I would expect the read to wait or timeount. The socket is definitely blocking, not non-blocking.

  I am starting to write some code for A/B testing in a Grails web application. I want to ensure that requests from the same IP address always see the same variation. Rather than store a map of IP-variant, is it OK to simply turn the IP address into an integer by removing the dots, then use that as the seed for a random number generator? The following is taking place in a Grails Filter: def ip = request.remoteAddr def random = new Random(ip.replaceAll(/\./, '').toInteger()) def value = random.nextBoolean() session.assignment = value // value should always be the same for a given IP address I know that identifying users by IP address is not reliable, and I will be using session variables/cookies as well, but this seems to be useful for the case where we have a new session, and no cookies set (or the user has cookies disabled).

• Basic doubt about sensor usage

  Suppose I have a cellphone with accelerometer and magnetometer, and want to determine its absolute (wrt North/East/South/West) 3d position. Imagine the phone is laid vertically, with the screen facing me, the "up" vector pointing to the ceil. Whenever I tilt, the accelerometer allows me to get the "up" vector info change. The problem is that if I tilt the device and put it horizontally (screen now facing ceil, and "up" vector pointing to the opposite of where I am), then the up vector doesn't get updated any more if I rotate the phone horizontally on the table. This is something that clearly is detected by the magnetometer now. So, the question is, when to know where to use acc or mag for each case? Is there a generic way to achieve this?

  I am familiar with MVC/MVP though my question is simple, I'm about to program a simple Instant Messaging software when the engine and communication part is an open API. so my software will have about 3 forms, a splash screen with login details, the options form and a main form with all the functionality like: Friends List, Send message, Received messages (tabbed), search user, etc. In UI perspective, its important for the GUI to be in 1 form in my application. So my question is, for the only complicated form that I'm going to have, is it necessary to implement an MVP design pattern or in this case its better to just go straight forward and put all the logic in 1 place? • Java, searching through folders to match a name

  Hi folks, I using java to search for a file or folder that matches a specific case. For instance i want to search through all the files and folders and iterate through them as many times as necessary untill i find a result. The catch I searching for files and folders through a binary image of a file system. This means i doubt there are any preexisting classes such java.file.* to do it for me. If it helps i can tell you that i can tell the difference between files and folders easily enough. (a folder is flagged as 0x20) The only way i can think of is to do a standard loop and iterated several times but this limits me if a file or folder is several folders deep. All input greatly welcome

• Does Process.StartInfo.Arguments support a UTF-8 string?

  Can you use a UTF-8 string as the Arguments for a StartInfo? I am trying to pass a UTF-8 (in this case a Japanese string) to an application as a console argument. Something like this (this is just an example! (cmd.exe would be a custom app)) var process = new System.Diagnostics.Process(); process.StartInfo.Arguments = "/K \"echo ????????\""; process.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe"; process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = true; process.Start(); process.WaitForExit(); Executing this seems to loose the UTF-8 string and all the target application sees is "echo ?????????" When executing this command directly on the command line (by pasting the arguments) the target application receives the string correctly even though the command line itself doesn't seem to display it correctly. Do I need to do anything special to enable UTF-8 support in the arguments or is this just not supported?

  I am trying to implement a linux shell that supports piping. I have already done simple commands, commands running in background, redirections, but piping is still missing. I have already read about it and seen some snippets of code, but still haven't been able to sort out a working solution. What I have so far: int fd[2]; pid_t pid = fork(); if (pid == -1) return -1; if (pid == 0) { dup2(0, fd[0]); execlp("sort", "sort", NULL); } I am a novice programmer, as you can probably tell, and when I am programming something I don't know much about, this being obviously the case, I like to start with something really easy and concrete and then build from there. So, before being able to implement three and more different commands in pipeline, I would like to be able to compute "ls names.txt | sort" or something similiar, in which names.txt is a file of names alfabetically unordered.   Hi, Is there any way to write a MIDlet, but still use BlackBerry API classes and functions (including the APIs that require code signing)? In particular, I'm trying to use Kuix (http://www.kalmeo.org/projects/kuix). A pure MIDlet + Kuix (so without BlackBerry stuff) works perfectly after I converted the jar/jad to a cod file. As soon as I add BlackBerry API-stuff (CoverageInfo.COVERAGE_DIRECT in this case) I get a verification error when trying to run the cod file: Error starting $name: Module $name has verification error 2410 at offset 9a4f What can I do to solve this?

• Thoughts on Static Code Analysis Warning CA1806 for TryParse calls

  I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the CA1806 (DoNotIgnoreMethodResults) Static Code Analysis warning when using FxCop. I have several cases where I use Int32.TryParse to pull in internal configuration information that was saved in a file. I end up with a lot of code that looks like: Int32.TryParse(someString, NumberStyles.Integer, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, out intResult); MSDN says the default result of intResult is zero if something fails, which is exactly what I want. Unfortunately, this code will trigger CA1806 when performing static code analysis. It seems like a lot of redundant/useless code to fix the errors with something like the following: bool success = Int32.TryParse(someString, NumberStyles.Integer, CultureInfo.InvariantCulture, out intResult); if (!success) { intResult= 0; } Should I suppress this message or bite the bullet and add all this redundant error checking? Or maybe someone has a better idea for handling a case like this? Thanks!

In this case I would like to replace the isApproved and isPublished restrictions with the DetachedCriteria Criteria criteria = getSession().createCriteria(Estate.class) .createAlias("city", "c") .add(Restrictions.eq("c.id", cityID)) // the following 2 lines should be use the DetachedCriteria .add(Restrictions.eq("isApproved", true)) .add(Restrictions.eq("isPublished", true)) .setProjection(Projections.rowCount()); return (Integer) criteria.list().get(0); Is there a way to do this ? Tried to use .add.Subqueries.geAll(.... But cannot make it work properly. I could not find proper documentation on the Subqueries in Hibernate. Tips are welcomed.

  Say I have this line of code in the view. <?php echo CHtml::activeTextField($model,'start_time'); ?> start_time is a UNIX timestamp. When just displaying it in a view I can apply functions like date() on it. Where should I apply the formatting when I'm displaying it in a form, by using the above line of code? (This case of timestamps/dates might be special, but I'm also interested in how would one go about if it wasn't a date and I just want to work with "value in database" < "different representations of the value in different views.   You can add a property to a class using a getter and a setter (in a simplistic case): class<X>("X") .add_property("foo", &X::get_foo, &X::set_foo); But how to add a property to a module itself (not a class)? There is scope().attr("globalAttr") = ??? something ??? and def("globalAttr", ??? something ???); I can add global functions and objects of my class using the above two ways, but can't seem to add properties the same way as in classes.

Can this be done?
