  Hi all, In one of my latest projects I use Solr 1.4 for searching products.However I have ran into a slight problem, which I aint sure if its possible to do using Solr. All products are indexed by "country" and "category" and the "id", "class" and "description" are stored values. I now have been requested to extract a sample list of products that we have for a give "category" and "ONLY RETURNING ONE" product for each country where the product is available. In my current implementation, I have a dismax query to get a list of all the countries that correspond to the catergory, then I call again solr to extract all products for each country, limiting the no. rows by the size of the countries found in the previous query. The problem I have with this current implementation is I can not be certain that I have one product for each country in the list. Therefore would anyone know if it possible to tell solr that you want only one product per country provided in the query? Any guidance would be useful.

  So I have to find THE SECOND LARGEST NUMBER IN A LIST. I am doing it through simple loops.My approach is I am going to divide a list into two parts and then find the largest number into two parts and then compare two nuumbers. I will choose the smaller number from two of them. I can not use ready functions or different approaches. Basically, this is my code....But it does not run correctly....Help me please to fix it because I spent a lot of time on it :( Thanks....P.S.   I want to implement a hash table in the following manner: struct list { char *string; struct list *next; }; struct hash_table { int size; /* the size of the table */ struct list **table; /* the table elements */ }; Instead of struct hash_table like above, can I use: struct hash_table { int size; /* the size of the table */ struct list *table; /* the table elements */ }; That is, can I just use a single pointer instead of a double pointer for the hash table elements? If yes, please explain the difference in the way the elements will be stored in the table?

• Getting the fractional part of a float without using modf()

  Hi, I'm developing for a platform without a math library, so I need to build my own tools. My current way of getting the fraction is to convert the float to fixed point (multiply with (float)0xFFFF, cast to int), get only the lower part (mask with 0xFFFF) and convert it back to a float again. However, the imprecision is killing me. I'm using my Frac() and InvFrac() functions to draw an anti-aliased line. Using modf I get a perfectly smooth line. With my own method pixels start jumping around due to precision loss.   This is the structure of my table: Then I run a query SELECT `date`,`index_name`,`results` FROM `mst_ind` WHERE `index_name` IN ('MSCI EAFE Mid NR USD', 'Alerian MLP PR USD') AND `time_period`='M1' and get a table like How can I convert "index_name" rows to columns like: date | MSCI EAFE Mid NR USD | Alerian MLP PR USD etc In other words I need each column to represent an index and rows to represent date-result. I understand that MySQL doesn't have pivot table functions. What is the easiest way of doing this? I've tried this code, but it generates an error: SELECT `date`, MAX(IF(index_name = 'Alerian MLP PR USD' AND `time_period`='M1', results, NULL)) AS res1, MAX(IF(index_name = 'MSCI EAFE Mid NR USD' AND `time_period`='M1', results, NULL)) AS res2 FROM `mst_ind` GROUP BY `date I need to make the conversion on the query level - not PHP.   OK, I have a set of tables that I want to use for my user logins. I am guessing that I need a separate model for each table in the database. My tables are as follows: Users - user information such as first and last name, groups_id, status, etc... groups - defines the user groups with id, name, description permissions - defines a list of permissions that a group can have permission_assignments - groups_id and permissions_id. many to many relationship table I am not sure how to go about populating an array that would contain the list of permissions that a user would have based on the group they are in after a successful login. Basically, a user belongs to a group, and the group gets assigned permissions. I want to then be able to validate functions/methods based on weather the logged in user has certain permissions. Any help is appreciated

• Ojective C Class or struct?

  I have a class Song with properties Title, Key, Artist, etc. There are no methods. I loop through a database of song information and create a Song object for each, populating the properties, and then store the Song objects in an NSArray. Then I thought, why not just have a struct Song with all those same properties instead of a class Song. Doing so would eliminate the class files, the #import Song line in the using class's .m file, and the need to alloc, init, release. On the other hand, I'd have to put the struct definition in every class that might need it. (Unless there's some globally accessible location -- is there?) Also, can a struct be stored in an NSArray?

• XML/XSL nub: Is it possible to create an COMPOSITE XML/XSLT document?

  I have just recently (like 2 days) started using XSLT documents with XML. I understand the basics and am able to generate a formatted document using an .XML document that references a separate .XSLT document. My question, as in the subject, is "Is it possible to create a SINGLE, composite document that contains both the XML data and XSLT processing/formatting/styling and displays as formatted HTML?" I am writing a desktop application in which I need to generate a formatted document on the fly from XML stored in the database. I want to do this without creating or referencing any actual physical files. I will generate a text string containing the XML/XSLT document and feed this to a WebBrowser component for formatted display. Hopefully what I want to do doesn't totally go against the whole XML/XSLT methodology. Any information, direction or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

• Add 64 bit offset to a pointer

  In F#, there's the NativePtr module, but it seems to only support 32 bit offsets for its’ add/get/set functions, just like System.IntPtr does. Is there a way to add a 64 bit offset to a native pointer (nativeptr<'a) in F#? Of course I could convert all addresses to 64 bit integers, do normal integer operations and then convert the result again to nativeptr<'a, but this would cost additional add and imul instructions. I really want the AGUs to perform the address calculations. For instance, using unsafe in C# you could do something like void* ptr = Marshal.AllocHGlobal(...).ToPointer(); int64 offset = ...; T* newAddr = (T*)ptr + offset; // T has to be an unmanaged type Well actually you can't, because there is no "unmanaged" constraint for type parameters, but at least you can do general pointer arithmetic in a non-generic way. In F# we finally got the unmanaged constraint; but how do I do the pointer arithmetic?

• Are there any alternative to the header(); function ?

  The thing is, I have a log-in page. And, when user enters Username & Password, they must be re-directed to success/failure page. Now, I have placed a "header('location:welcome.php');" after mysql rows are returned. But, it is giving me Header already sent errors, and I don't know much about PHP to do anything about it, let alone understand why it is happening. So, how to you transfer a user to another page after log-in data is verified? Same problem is happening with register, post, comment and search functions in my site.

• Version Control in Visual Studio

  Hi all, I'm currently working on a large project, and am about to make some large changes, and was looking for a way to 'backup' my prior work. Is there built in functionality in Visual Studio to work with version control? This project is developed only by me, and doesn't use Team Foundation Server (which is what most of my googling seems to give me answers on). Ideally, I would like to identify and restore all the different versions of my program as it evolves, without having to worry about totally messing something up... Cheers and thanks in advance! ---EDIT--- With a version control system though, would that be stored on a seperate server? Or is it possible to store it locally? I'm more just concerned that I will just seriously mess up my code and not be able to undo it at some point...

• Run command with no terminal output

  Hello, I've searched around online, but can't find the answer to my question. What I want to do is run a command in pythong, using the subprocess module, and store the output in a variable. However, I do not want the command's output to be printed to the terminal. For this code: def storels(): a = subprocess.Popen("ls",shell=True) storels() I get the directory listing in the terminal, instead of having it stored in a. I've also tried def storels(): subprocess.Popen("ls > tmp",shell=True) a = open("./tmp") [Rest of Code] storels() This also prints the output of ls to my terminal. I've even tried this command with the somewhat dated os.system method, since running "ls tmp" in the terminal doesn't print ls to the terminal at all, but stores it in tmp. However, the same thing happens. I'm using python 2.6. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

• C Different answers for a variable when running 'Debug' and 'Start without debug'

  I keep getting this weird output from my code everytime I use the 'start without degugging' (ctrl-F5) as opposed to normal 'debug' (F5). • Best place to create windows form objects

  I'm creating a windows app in c# 2008 that will have around 8-10 dialog boxes. I want these forms to exist throughout the life of the program. Where's the best place to create and store the objects? I'm coming from Delphi, where Form objects were usually stored in global variables. I'm tempted to do it in the static Program class.   Hi All, I have a folder structure, as shown below: I need to create a bash script that does 4 things: It searches all the files in the generic directory and finds the string 'generic' and makes it into 'something' As above, but changes "GENERIC" to "SOMETHING" As above, but changes "Generic" to "Something" Renames any filename that has "generic" in it with "something" Right now I am doing this process manually by using the search and replace in net beans. I dont know much about bash scripting, but i'm sure this can be done. I'm thinking of something that I would run and it would take "Something" as the input. Where would I start? what functions should I use? overall guidance would be great. thanks. I am using Ubuntu 10.5 desktop edition.

• Network license control for a Java application

  I have been tasked with providing some form of network license control for a Java application. The app would be stored on a network drive and run from a client machine. The basic idea is that it will be able to work out how many times it is being run concurrently and prevent the N+1th user from running the software where N is the number of concurrent licenses the customer has purchased. Is this possible somehow with a Java application? I implemented a "solution" which relied on multi-cast UDP communication between the running instances of the application but this didn't work because on most networks this kind of communication is blocked by security measures. Is there a better way? I don't even mind if it requires JNI/JNA. N.B. The solution does not have to be that sophisticated or highly secure.

• Storing SQL Tables for use in visual studio

  Greetings. I'm trying to create a windows form application that manipulates data from several tables stored on a SQL server. 1) What's the best way to store the data locally, while the application is running? I had a previous program that only modified one table, and that was set up to use a datagridview. However, as I don't necessarily want to view all the tables, I am looking for another way to store the data retrieved by the SELECT * FROM ... query. 2) Is it better to load the tables, make changes within the C# application, and then update the modified tables at the end, or simply perform all operations on the database, remotely (retrieving the tables each time they are needed)? • SqlCE Flush Interval - Will the default setting lead to corruption?

  SqlCE has a parameter set on the Connect String called Flush Interval. It is defined as: The interval time (in seconds) before all committed transactions are flushed to disk. If not specified, the default value is 10. I thought that a committed transaction, by definition, is a transaction that has been flushed to disk, specifically the database file. If a transaction is only stored in RAM then cannot the transaction be easily lost? I thought that transactions were first written to a log file and then applied to the database file itself, so perhaps this parameter could mean the time to wait until the transaction log is applied to the database file? I would have thought that this parameter should be 0.

  I'm having a (design) problem: I'm building an interpreter and I need some storage for variables. There are basically two types of content a variable here can have: string or int. I'm using a simple class for the variables, all variables are then stored in a vector. However, as a variable can hold a number or a string, I don't want C++ to allocate both and consume memory for no reason. That's why I wanted to use unions: union { string StringValue; int IntValue; } However, strings don't work with unions. Is there any workaround so no memory gets eaten for no reason?

• How to skip image tag in html data in android?

  My data in db is stored in html format along with image tags in it. So when I am getting the data from database I am removing the html tags and setting it to textview. My problem is even after removing the html tags, there is a small square box displaying in the emulator indicating that there is some image.
