I try to prevent the Browser from using the :hover effect of the CSS.
$("ul#mainFilter a").hover(
function(o){ o.preventDefault(); ...do my stuff... },
function(o){ o.preventDefault(); ...do my stuff... });
I tired it with return false; to but it does not work.
Does anyone know how to do this?
I'm wondering if it's possible to use a wildcard to select multiple cookies. I'm using jquery to save various scroll position and would like to clear them out in one go. At the moment I clear them out individually as below
function clearScroll(elementID) {
if ($.cookie) {
$.cookie(elementID + '_scrollpos', 0);
}
}
What I'd like is a clear all something like below.
function clearAllScroll() {
if ($.cookie) {
$cookie([name$='_scrollpos'],0);
}
}
Is this possible?
I have an ajax post and in the controller I return nothing. In case there is a failure will the error message displayed with the follwoing code?
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]
public void Edit(Model model)
{
model.Save();
}
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: '<%=Url.Action("Edit","test") %>',
data: JSON.stringify(data),
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "html",
success: function() {
},
error: function(request, status, error) {
alert("Error: " & request.responseText);
}
});
I want to define a function replicate to replicate a list of numbers by its value using only list comprehension, for example:
replicate [5,1,3,2,8,1,2]
output: [5,5,5,5,5,1,3,3,3,2,2,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,8,1,2,2]
I know this would be easy to use the 'replicate' built in function but only list comprehension is allow, how can I do this?
THANKS!
Hi guys,
I'm testing a jQuery ajax post method on a local Apache 2.2 server with PHP 5.3 (totally new at this). Here are the files, all in the same folder.
html body (jQuery library included in head):
<form id="postForm" method="post">
<label for="name">Input Name</label>
<input type="text" name="name" id="name" /><br />
<label for="age">Input Age</label>
<input type="text" name="age" id="age" /><br />
<input type="submit" value="Submit" id="submitBtn" />
</form>
<div id="resultDisplay"></div>
<script src="queryRequest.js"></script>
queryRequest.js
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#s').focus();
$('#postForm').submit(function(){
var name = $('#name').val();
var age = $('#age').val();
var URL = "post.php";
$.ajax({
type:'POST',
url: URL,
datatype:'json',
data:{'name': name ,'age': age},
success: function(data){
$('#resultDisplay').append("Value returned.<br />name: "+data.name+" age: "+data.age);
},
error: function() {
$('resultDisplay').append("ERROR!")
}
});
});
});
post.php
<?php
$name = $_POST['name'];
$age = $_POST['age'];
$return = array('name' => $name, 'age' => $age);
echo json_encode($return);
?>
After inputting the two fields and pressing 'Submit', the success method is called, text appended, but the values returned from ajax post are undefined.
And then after less than a second, the text fields are emptied, and the text appended to the div is gone. Doesn't seem like it's a page refresh, though, since there's no empty page flash.
What's going on here? I'm sure it's a silly mistake but Firebug isn't telling me anything.
I'm looking for a function that can accurately represent the distance between two colours as a number or something.
For example I am looking to have an array of HEX values or RGB arrays and I want to find the most similar colour in the array for a given colour
eg. I pass a function a RGB value and the 'closest' colour in the array is returned
I've got a Registry class and there are a few Registry values that I want to access from within that Registry class. (There is a bit of a calculation with these values so I thought I'd just put all that code right in the Registry Class itself).
So we might have something within our RegistryRoutine.cls like:
Function GetMyValue() as integer
Dim R as new RegistryRoutine
<calculations>
GetMyValue=R.GetRegisetryValue (HKEY, key, value, etc.)
End Function
Hi,
i have these methods in module1/actions/actions.class.php:
public function executeMethod1(sfWebRequest $request){
$a = 10;
sfContext::getInstance()->set('a', $a);
return $this->redirect('module1/method2');
}
public function executeMethod2(sfWebRequest $request){
echo sfContext::getInstance()->get('a');
}
When i execute module1/method1 i get this error:
"The "a" object does not exist in the current context."
Any idea?

Hi,
I am trying to make a script that updates the captcha image, that is loaded through live() function... It works, but it only updates the image 1 time on firefox, 2 times on safari... How can I make this to work multiple times?
jquery 1.4.2
relevant part of code:
/* captcha image change */
var rand = Math.random();
$('a.captcha_refresh').live('click', function() {
$('img.captcha').attr("src", 'captchashow.php?sid=' + rand);
});
thanks,
brm
I want to fade in a background of an entry within a div - this is to show the user what the most recent entry is on page load.
I want it to do it on page load, without having to click or hover or anything, just when the page loads.
I have this:
$(document).ready(function() {
$('#box').fadeIn(5000, function() {
// Animation complete
});
});
Is it something like pageLoad?
Any help is appreciated.
In java, when you pass an object to a method as a parameter, it is actually passing a reference, or a pointer, to that object because objects in Java are references.
Inside the function, it has a pointer to that object which is a location in memory. I am wondering where this pointer lives in memory? Is a new memory location created once inside the function to hold this reference?
I'm probably doing this completely wrong (the unhaskell way); I'm just learning so please let me know if there's a better way to approach this.
Context: I'm writing a bunch of tree structures. I want to reuse my prettyprint function for binary trees. Not all trees can use the generic Node/Branch data type though; different trees need different extra data. So to reuse the prettyprint function I thought of creating a class different trees would be instances of:
class GenericBinaryTree a where
is_leaf :: a -> Bool
left :: a -> a
node :: a -> b
right :: a -> a
This way they only have to implement methods to retrieve the left, right, and current node value, and prettyprint doesn't need to know about the internal structure.
Then I get down to here:
prettyprint_helper :: GenericBinaryTree a => a -> [String]
prettyprint_helper tree
| is_leaf tree = []
| otherwise = ("{" ++ (show (node tree)) ++ "}") : (prettyprint_subtree (left tree) (right tree))
where
prettyprint_subtree left right =
((pad "+- " "| ") (prettyprint_helper right)) ++ ((pad "`- " " ") (prettyprint_helper left))
pad first rest = zipWith (++) (first : repeat rest)
And I get the Ambiguous type variable 'a0' in the constraint: (Show a0) arising from a use of 'show' error for (show (node tree))
Here's an example of the most basic tree data type and instance definition (my other trees have other fields but they're irrelevant to the generic prettyprint function)
data Tree a
= Branch (Tree a) a (Tree a)
| Leaf
instance GenericBinaryTree (Tree a) where
is_leaf Leaf = True
is_leaf _ = False
left (Branch left node right) = left
right (Branch left node right) = right
node (Branch left node right) = node
I could have defined node :: a -> [String] and deal with the stringification in each instance/type of tree, but this feels neater. In terms of prettyprint, I only need a string representation, but if I add other generic binary tree functions later I may want the actual values.
So how can I write this to work whether the node value is an instance of Show or not? Or what other way should I be approaching this problem? In an object oriented language I could easily check whether a class implements something, or if an object has a method.
I can't use something like
prettyprint :: Show a => a -> String
Because it's not the tree that needs to be showable, it's the value inside the tree (returned by function node) that needs to be showable. I also tried changing node to Show b => a -> b without luck (and a bunch of other type class/preconditions/whatever/I don't even know what I'm doing anymore).
I want to check if innerHtml have X or O , so i can not add again any thing else , but it's not working . it stop after adding the check code , I'm trying here to do a simple X O game to get more familiar with javascript and jquery .
also I'm not sure if can do this with jQuery .
<script type="text/javascript" >
function ranFun() {
return Math.floor((Math.random() * 9) + 1);
}
var a;
function Elment(a) {
document.getElementById("td" + a).innerHTML = "O";
}
function call() {
var x = ranFun();
switch (x) {
case 1:case 2 :case 3: case 4 :case 5 : case 6 : case 7 : case 8 : case 9 :
Elment(x);
break;
default:
break;
}
}
function tdElm(c) {
if ($('#td1').text() === "x" || $('#td1').text() == "o")
return false;
else {
document.getElementById("td" + c).innerHTML = "x";
call();
}
}
</script>
<BODY>
<center>
<h1 >" X ,O Game "</h1>
<table >
<tr>
<td id="td1" onclick="tdElm(1);" ></td>
<td id="td2" onclick="tdElm(2);"></td>
<td id="td3" onclick="tdElm(3);"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td id="td4" onclick="tdElm(4);"></td>
<td id="td5" onclick="tdElm(5);"></td>
<td id="td6" onclick="tdElm(6);"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td id="td7" onclick="tdElm(7);"></td>
<td id="td8" onclick="tdElm(8);"></td>
<td id="td9" onclick="tdElm(9);"></td>
</tr>
</table>
</center>
</BODY>

Hi all,
I have got a simple HTMl form with one field as follows:
<input type="text" name="data['User']['user_id']" id="data['User']['user_id']" value="1">
$(document).ready(function(){
$("#data['User']['user_id']").mouseover(function(){
alert("hello");
});
});
The code couldn't work,
I think it may be the name of the Input text field that caused the problem,
but I don't know how to alter it
because this is the naming convention in CakePHP.
Is it possible to actually use the type passed as a template for control flow? I'd like to write a function that uses templates, which in turn calls another function based on the type passed:
template <class T> void test_function (T var)
{
//Do stuff
if (T == char) {
bar (var);
} else {
foo (var);
}
//Do even more stuff
}
If not, I'll have to fallback to enums...
what is the C++ equivilant to the c function fgets?
I have looked at getline from ifstream, but when it comes to a end of line character, '\n', it terminates at and discards it, I am looking for a function that just terminates at the end line character but adds the end of line character to the char array.
thanks in advance
I have a function, for example
function test(p1:int=7,p2:Boolean=true,p3:uint=0xffff00,p4:Number=55.5)
{
//instructions
}
How to change only p4, for example, and parameters p1,p3,p3 was still default?
Next time I want to change for example only p2, and parameters p1,p3,p4 was still default?
etc.
I have a form on my website.
When this form is filled out, it is then validated by a javascript validation function.
At the bottom of this function I have this piece of code:
window.location="../index.html";
This wont work on Chrome, but does work in Firefox.
My Q is, how can I make this simple redirect work on all (most) browsers?
Thanks
hello.
Is there significant cpu/memory overhead associated with using automatic arrays with g++/Intel on 64-bit x86 linux platform?
int function(int N) {
double array[N];
overhead compared to allocating array before hand (assuming function is called multiple times)
overhead compared to using new
overhead compared to using malloc
range of N maybe from 1kb to 16kb roughly, stack overrun is not a problem
Thank you
Using jQuery's 'submit' - is there a way to pass additional parameters to a form? I am NOT looking to do this with Ajax - this is normal, refresh-typical form submission.
$('#submit').click(function () {
$('#event').submit(function () {
data: {
form['attendees'] = $('#attendance').sortable('toArray').toString();
});
});
$('a').click(function(event){
$('body').html('loading...');
$.post('www.sitename.com/hello',{site:"http//:www.google.com"},function(data) {
alert(data);
});
event.preventDefault();
});
I am using the above script to override the default behaviour of the links .The site reffred here returns the html of the 'site' paraeter.but the page just stops after printing loading...
