  • How do I get code coverage of Perl cgi script when executed by Selenium?

    - by Kurt W. Leucht
I'm using Eclipse EPIC IDE to write some Perl cgi scripts which call some Perl modules that I have also written. The EPIC IDE lets me configure a Perl CGI "run configuration" which runs my CGI script. And then I've got Selenium set up and one of my unit test files runs some Selenium commands to run my cgi script through its paces. But the coverage report from Module::Build dispatch 'testcover' doesn't show that any of my module code has been executed. It's been executed by my cgi script, but I guess the CGI script was run manually and was not executed directly by my unit test file, so maybe that's why the coverage isn't being recognized. Is there a way to do this right so I can integrate Selenium and unit test files and code coverage all together somehow?

  • Problems with Routing URLs using CGI and Bottle.py

    - by Risingson
I've been having difficulty getting anything more than a simple index / to return correctly using bottle.py in a CGI environment. When I try to return /hello I get a 404 response. However, if I request /index.py/hello import bottle from bottle import route @route('/') def index(): return 'Index' @route('/hello') def hello(): return 'Hello' if __name__ == '__main__': from wsgiref.handlers import CGIHandler CGIHandler().run(bottle.default_app()) And here is my .htaccess file DirectoryIndex index.py <ifmodule mod_rewrite.c=""> RewriteEngine on RewriteBase / RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.py/$1 [L] </ifmodule> I copied much of the code from here as I'm using DH and it seemed relevant: http://blog.coderonfire.com/2010/02/running-bottle-python-micro-framework.html Thanks for helping.

  • Web form / CGI scripting: User enters "word", IFrame displays "word".html

    - by Haskella
Okay, I'll admit being a designer, I don't know much about how data is handled from the servers in forms... (basically the whole programming part). Basically I have a text field that the user types something like "apple", this gets sent to the server and then displays the apple.html page that I have in a directory in an IFrame. If anyone can show me how to do this in a PHP script or Perl, would be great thanks! I think this is good start, it gets more complicated than this... I later have to convert the "apple" into something like 2321 and display 2321.html instead. If anyone can find a CGI script that does this, thanks!

  • How can I execute CGI files from PHP?

    - by Henri W
I'm trying to make a web app that will manage my Mercurial repositories for me. I want it so that when I tell it to load repository X: Connect to a MySQL server and make sure X exists. Check if the user is allowed to access the repository. If above is true, get the location of X from a mysql server. Run a hgweb cgi script (python) containing the path of the repository. Here is the problem, I want to: take the hgweb script, modify it, and run it. But I do not want to: take the hgweb script, modify it, write it to a file and redirect there. I am using Apache to run the httpd process.

  • Reading a client's header from Python CGI script?

    - by jawonlee
I'm writing a very simple web service, written in Python and run as CGI on an Apache server. According to Python docs (somewhere... I forgot where), I can use sys.stdin to read the data POSTed by a random client, and this has been working fine. However, I would like to be able to read the HTTP header information as well - incoming IP, user agent, and so on. I'd also like to keep it very simple for now, by using only Python libraries (so no mod-python). How do I do this?

  • CGI, python, and setgid

    - by user331398
I'm running a compiled python cgi script (using cxfreeze) in Apache. The script, among other things, calls os.setuid(some_uid) os.setgid(some_gid) Obviously some_uid/gid are legal and I set the sticky bit for both user and group, and verified it is indeed set. However on every call i get an error os.setgid(int(self.gid)) OSError: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted As you may notice, setuid() is successful, setgid is not. Which is very weird, at least for me, though I admit I have little experience with permissions in Linux. Any thoughts/ideas are welcome. I'm using apache 2.2.15, python 2.6.5, RHEL 5.4 (kernel 2.6.18) Thank you

  • Adding objects to LDAP via CGI

    - by musashiXXX
I have a web form that collects information and submits it to a cgi that attempts to insert the data into LDAP. The problem is that I'm trying to use a variable with ::ldap::add and it's just not working. Here's the code: if {[string length env(QUERY_STRING)] != 0} { set handle [::ldap::connect localhost] set dn "cn=admin,dc=mycompany,dc=com" set pw "myPassword" ::ldap::bind $handle $dn $pw set dn "cn=[ncgi::value givenName] [ncgi::value sn],ou=people,dc=mycompany,dc=com" set formValues [ puts "cn {{[ncgi::value givenName] [ncgi::value sn]}}" puts "displayName [ncgi::value givenName] [ncgi::value sn]" foreach {key value} [ncgi::nvlist] { if {[string length $value] != 0} { puts "$key $value" } } puts "objectClass top" puts "objectClass person" puts "objectClass organizationalPerson" puts "objectClass inetOrgPerson" ] ::ldap::add $handle $dn { $formValues } ldap::unbind $handle } However, if I replace $formValues with the actual entries that I want to insert into LDAP, they get added just fine. I'm new to TCL so I wouldn't be surprised if there were some glaring errors in this snippet. Thanks in advance!

  • Finding out event that called a CGI script

    - by Acorn
What I want is to be able to make my CGI script do different things depending on what action initiated the calling of the script. For example, if one button is pressed, a database is cleared. If another button is pressed, a form is submitted and that data is added to the database. Should I be doing something like adding the name of the form/button to the end of the POST data submitted in jQuery and then .poping it off in the script? Or is there some other data that's already sent in the POST that I could get from FieldStorage that would give me the information I need to decide what the script should do when it's called? And what if I wasn't using javascript? Would I have to have a hidden field that gets submitted with the name of the form/button? Or is it best to use a different target script for each button on a page?

  • Understanding CGI and SQL security from the ground up

    - by Steve
This question is for learning purposes. Suppose I am writing a simple SQL admin console using CGI and Python. At http://something.com/admin, this admin console should allow me to modify a SQL database (i.e., create and modify tables, and create and modify records) using an ordinary form. In the least secure case, anybody can access http://something.com/admin and modify the database. You can password protect http://something.com/admin. But once you start using the admin console, information is still transmitted in plain text. So then you use HTTPS to secure the transmitted data. Questions: To describe to a learner, how would you incrementally add security to the least secure environment in order to make it most secure? How would you modify/augment my three (possibly erroneous) steps above? What basic tools in Python make your steps possible? Optional: Now that I understand the process, how do sophisticated libraries and frameworks inherently achieve this level of security?

  • validating radiogroup with perl/cgi

    - by Tyug
Is it possible to validate a radio group (so something is checked off, or chosen) using server-side validation with Perl? If so, how? I already have it for JavaScript, but I want this form to be able to be submitted even without JavaScript enabled. Thus I will need the validation on the server-side. There is no fixed name for the radio group, it can change, however there must be a name, so that @names = $cgi->param() will give all the names. I'm thinking along something that will give me the type, like the type in JavaScript, to determine if it's a radio button in a group.

  • Controlling access to large files in Apache

    - by obeattie
Hi there, I am looking to control access to some large files (we're talking many GB here) by the use of signed URLs. The files are currently restricted by LDAP Basic authentication (mod_auth_ldap), but I need to change this to verify the signature (passed as a query parameter in the URL). Basically, I just need to run a script to verify the signature, and allow the request to proceed as if authentication had succeeded. My initial thought to this was just to use a simple CGI script, but as the files are so large I'm concerned about performance. So, really, this question is (probably) more like "are there any performance implications of streaming large files from a CGI script via Apache?"… and if so, "is there a better way of doing this (short of writing a dedicated authentication module)?" If this makes any sense, help would be much appreciated :) P.S. I wasn't sure exactly what to search for for this (10 minutes of Googling were fruitless), so I may very well be duplicating someone else's post.

  • How to prevent session hijacking with SID (CGI perl)

    - by Gnippots
I have a web app used by a small number of people (internal only) and am using a randomised sessionID that is stored under the user record and placed in various links. I have had a problem where users are sending links to each other which is allowing them to hijack the sender's session. What are some ways of preventing this from happening while still letting users send links to one another? Edit: The session ID in the link (which also contains $username) is just compared to what is stored in the User table. &incorrectLogin just prints an error followed by die; if ($sid) { $sth = $dbh->prepare("SELECT * FROM tbl_User WHERE UserID = '$username'"); $sth->execute(); $ref = $sth->fetchrow_hashref(); $session_chk = $ref->{'usr_sessionID'}; unless ($sid eq $session_chk) {&incorrectLogin;} } The problem is that if someone uses a link that is created by someone else, the page will load as them. I am not using cookies, and I recall being told in the past that CGI perl cookie handling is quite poor.

  • Problem using unicode in URLs with cgi.PATH_INFO in ColdFusion

    - by Loftx
Hi there, My ColdFusion (MX7) site has search functionality which appends the search term to the URL e.g. http://www.example.com/search.cfm/searchterm. The problem I'm running into is this is a multilingual site, so the search term may be in another language e.g. ??????? leading to a search URL such as http://www.example.com/search.cfm/??????? The problem is when I come to retrieve the search term from the URL. I'm using cgi.PATH_INFO to retrieve the path of the search page and the search term and extracting the search term from this e.g. /search.cfm/searchterm however, when unicode characters are used in the search they are converted to question marks e.g. /search.cfm/??????. These appear actual question marks, rather than the browser not being able to format unicode characters, or them being mangled on output. I can't find any information about whether ColdFusion supports unicode in the URL, or how I can go about resolving this and getting hold of the complete URL in some way - does anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Tom

  • Server Push CGI Perl Problem writing the JPEG image

    - by Jujjuru
I am a beginner in Perl CGI etc. I was experimenting with server-push concept with a piece of perl code. It is supposed to send a jpeg image to the client every 3 seconds. Unfortunately nothing seems to work. Can somebody help identify the problem? Here is the code.... use strict; # turn off io buffering $|=1; print "Content-type: multipart/x-mixed-replace;"; print "boundary=magicalboundarystring\n\n"; print "--magicalboundarystring\n"; #list the jpg images my(@file_list) = glob "*.jpg"; my($file) = ""; foreach $file(@file_list ) { open FILE,">", $file or die "Cannot open file $file: $!"; print "Content-type: image/jpeg\n\n"; while ( <FILE> ) { print "$_"; } close FILE; print "\n--magicalboundarystring\n"; sleep 3; next; } EDIT: added turn off i/o buffering, added "use strict" and "@file_list", "$file" are made local

  • Trying to run a codeigniter app on custom php

    - by hamstar
I have a CodeIgniter app that I deployed to a server with php 5.2 and my dev box has 5.3, and some stuff doesn't work anymore. I didn't want to upgrade php and risk the other app on the server having issues. Anyway I compiled a custom PHP and added the following to a single .conf file in /etc/httpd/conf.d/zcid.conf with all the other conf files. <VirtualHost *:80> DocumentRoot /var/www/cid/app ServerName sub.example.co.nz </VirtualHost> <Directory "/var/www/cid/app"> authtype Basic authname "oh dear how did this get here i am no good with computer" authuserfile /path/to/auth require valid-user RewriteEngine on RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|robots\.txt|createEvent\.php|/cgi-bin) RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L] AddHandler custom-php .php Action custom-php /cgi-bin/php53.cgi </Directory> In /var/www/cid/app I have the cgi-bin folder and the php53.cgi that I copied from /usr/local/php53/bin/php-cgi But now when I navigate to the subdomain it says: The requested URL /cgi-bin/php53.cgi/index.php/ was not found on this server. And if I try to browse to /cgi-bin it says (what it is supposed to?): You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/ on this server. Quite confused now. Anyone know what to do here? Thanks :)

  • Is there another way to run Apache2 securely for end users without using CGI mode?

    - by Volomike
Is there another way to run Apache2 securely for multiple end users (like hosting hundreds of blogs) without using CGI mode as required by suPHP? It just seems so inefficient to use CGI mode for PHP when if we could set up permissions properly, we could host PHP through mod_php perhaps? I mean, I do want to restrict these users to their home directories for their sites, but don't want any security issues.

  • Perl CGI that sends a temporary loading page to client then later sends the actual results page

    - by Kurt W. Leucht
    I've wasted at least a half day of my company's time searching the Internet for an answer and I'm getting wrapped around the axle here. I can't figure out the difference between all the different technology choices (long polling, ajax streaming, comet, XMPP, etc.) and I can't get a simple hello world example working on my PC. I am running Apache 2.2 and ActivePerl 5.10.0. JavaScript is completely acceptable for this solution. All I want to do is write a simple Perl CGI script that when accessed, it immediately returns some HTML that tells the user to wait or maybe sends an animated GIF. Then without any user intervention (no mouse clicks or anything) I want the CGI script to at some time later replace the wait message or the animated GIF with the actual HTML results from their query. I know this is simple stuff and websites do it all the time, but I can't find a single working example that I can cut and paste onto my machine that will work. Here is my simple Hello World example that I've compiled from various Internet sources, but it doesn't seem to work. When I refresh this CGI URL in my web browser it prints nothing for 5 seconds, then it prints the PLEASE BE PATIENT web page, but not the results web page. What am I doing wrong? #!C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe use CGI; use CGI::Carp qw/fatalsToBrowser warningsToBrowser/; sub Create_HTML { my $html = <<EOHTML; <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="pragma" content="no-cache" /> <meta http-equiv="expires" content="-1" /> <script type="text/javascript" > var xmlhttp=false; /*@cc_on @*/ /*@if (@_jscript_version >= 5) // JScript gives us Conditional compilation, we can cope with old IE versions. // and security blocked creation of the objects. try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP"); } catch (e) { try { xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP"); } catch (E) { xmlhttp = false; } } @end @*/ if (!xmlhttp && typeof XMLHttpRequest!='undefined') { try { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=false; } } if (!xmlhttp && window.createRequest) { try { xmlhttp = window.createRequest(); } catch (e) { xmlhttp=false; } } </script> <title>Ajax Streaming Connection Demo</title> </head> <body> Some header text. <p> <div id="response">PLEASE BE PATIENT</div> <p> Some footer text. </body> </html> EOHTML return $html; } my $cgi = new CGI; print $cgi->header; print Create_HTML(); sleep(5); print "<script type=\"text/javascript\">\n"; print "\$('response').innerHTML = 'Here are your results!';\n"; print "</script>\n";
