  • What's wrong with XOR encryption?

    I wrote a short C++ program to do XOR encryption on a file, which I may use for some personal files (if it gets cracked it's no big deal - I'm just protecting against casual viewers). Basically, I take an ASCII password and repeatedly XOR the password with the data in the file. Now I'm curious, though: if someone wanted to crack this, how would they go about it? Would it take a long time? Does it depend on the length of the password (i.e., what's the big-O)?

  • Finding parents where child collection does not contain an item

    I am trying to get a list of parents where the child collection does not contain an item of a specific type. The LINQ equivalent would be something like: dataset.Where(x => x.Items.FirstOrDefault(y => y.Type.Code == "ABC") == null) The object model is Parent Child (Items) Type Code If Parent is my aggregate root, how would I model this in NHibernate criteria/query? Here's my first attempt: var results = session.CreateCriteria<Parent>() .CreateCriteria("Items") .CreateCriteria("Type") .Add(Restrictions.Not(Restrictions.Eq("Code", "ABC"))) .SetResultTransformer(Transformers.DistinctRootEntity) .List<Parent>(); This doesn't seem to return the right entities - it just returns them all.

  • Trouble compiling some decompiled C# code

    I was decompiling an open-source project (because the source for the latest version hasn't been released yet). Using RedGate's Reflector tool, it gave me this block of code: if(somecondition == true) { ref Vector3i vectoriRef; float num17 = length - num; Vector3i end = vectori3; (vectoriRef = (Vector3i) &end)[1] = vectoriRef[1] - ((int) num17); } somecondition is a boolean. length and num are floats defined outside the code. vectori3 is also defined outside the code and is of type Vector3i. The type Vector3i is essentially this code, but with x, y, and z stored as integers. When I try to compile this decompiled code, I get the following errors: Line 2: Only assignment, call, increment, decrement, and new object expressions can be used as a statement Line 3: ; expected Line 3: Invalid expression term 'ref' Line 6: 'Vector3i' is a 'type' but is used like a 'variable' Any thoughts on how I can fix this code so it compiles correctly and does whatever it was intended to do?

  • ASP.NET MVC (VB) error when publishing to test server

    I have an ASP.NET MVC project that works fine on my local machine (no build errors, server errors or anything). However, when I publish the project to a test server, I get an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error on a For Each I have in my view. I have a function within a model that returns a DataRowCollection. I'm calling that function in my controller and passing the DataRowCollection to my View, which then iterates over the rows and displays the necessary information: In the Controller I have: Function Index() As ActionResult Dim MyModel As New Model ViewData("MyDataRowCollection") = MyModel.GetDataRowCollection() Return View() End Function And then in the View, which is throwing the error: <%@ Page Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Views/Shared/Site.Master" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage" %> <asp:Content ID="indexTitle" ContentPlaceHolderID="TitleContent" runat="server"> My Page Title </asp:Content> <asp:Content ID="indexContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <% For Each MyDataRow In ViewData("MyDataRowCollection") ' do stuff with each MyDataRow Next %> I'm pretty new to ASP.NET MVC so I'm sure there might be a better way to do what I'm doing (I'd be happy to hear if there is), but my main concern is why this works fine on my local machine but throws an error on the For Each on the test server? Please let me know if I can clarify any of the above, and thanks in advance for any information.

  • Problem with the way the Ajax Control Toolkit tab control sets the default submit button

    We have a tab control containing some textboxes for doing a search. When you keypress inside one of the textboxes, the tab control sets the default button to be the button immediately following the tab control. This is fine because that's the search button. The problem occurs after the button is clicked and results returned. Now there is no default button, and keypress does nothing. Any suggestions?

  • How to get gesture IDs

    Is there anyway to get a list of gesture ids, from the gesture library that has been created using gesturebuilder. I want to link each gesture to an images, so some sort of an id or name is needed. I have looked at the samples and other online material avaialbe for gestures, and there is no information on this matter. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.   • PHP require/include only works once in script then fails

    Hi everybody, this isn't a problem as such but it's bugging me and I would appreciate any help. It might be totally obvious but I can't see it. $root_path = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'] require($root_path .'template/header.php') require($root_path .'template/footer.php') The script will include one or the other but not both. It will run and include the header but not the footer, if I swap them round it will load the footer first but not the header. I've tried using include instead of require but get the same result. It gives the error allow_url_include = 0. I know turning this on will solve it but my question is why is it happening? Why will it include one file but not the other? Is there any way to get them to both run without turning allow_url_include on (I'm trying to be security conscious). I have PHP 5.3 and am running WAMP. Thanks in advance for your help!

  • How can I make Emacs start-up faster?

    I use Emacs v. 22 (the console version, either remotely with PuTTY or locally with Konsole) as my primary text editor on Linux. It takes a while to load up each time I start it though, probably almost a second, although I never timed it. I tend to open and close Emacs a lot, because I'm more comfortable using the Bash command-line for file/directory manipulation and compiling. How can I speed up the start-up time?

  • AS3 + addChild() getting image from library to the stage

    Hi, I have an .fla file with 1 image in the library and 1 .as file. I have linked the image up with the Class name of libraryImages and Base class is flash.display.BitmapData. This is my AS: package { import flash.display.Bitmap; import flash.display.BitmapData; import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Banner extends MovieClip { var defaultImage:libraryImages = new libraryImages(469, 60); var myImage:Bitmap = new Bitmap(defaultImage); addChild(myImage); } } I am getting two errors: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method addChild. 1120: Access of undefined property myImage. Any ideas?

  • Which tool should I use for finding out my memory allocation in Perl?

    I've slurped in a big file using File::Slurp but given the size of the file I can see that I must have it in memory twice or perhaps it's getting inflated by being turned into 16 bit unicode. How can I best diagnose that sort of a problem in Perl? The file I pulled in is 800mb in size and my perl process that's analysing that data has roughly 1.6gb allocated at runtime. I realise that I may be wrong about my reason for the problem but I'm not sure the most efficient way to prove/disprove my theory.

  • SQL Server Composite Primary Keys

    I am attempting to replace all records for a give day in a certain table. The table has a composite primary key comprised of 7 fields. One such field is date. I have deleted all records which have a date value of 2/8/2010. When I try to then insert records into the table for 2/8/2010, I get a primary key violation. The records I am attempting to insert are only for 2/8/2010. Since date is a component of the PK, shouldn't there be no way to violate the constraint as long as the date I'm inserting is not already in the table? Thanks in advance.

    I have a javascript variable that basically looks like this: my_svg_image = '<circle cx="227.58331298828125" cy="102" r="3" style="fill:black;stroke-width:0" />'; It was loaded from my database. Is there a way I can parse that string and add it to the DOM with Javascript? I have svgweb set up, but don't see how I can get it to parse this string. Are there other libraries that might help?

  • In Selenium IDE, can I store an element to use in subsequent asserts?

    I've just started using Selenium-IDE (not looked at selenium-RC yet: if somebody tells me that that is the answer to my question I'll look at it) One of the operations I'm testing generates some output in a table in the next HTML page, but the order of the rows is not predictable. I can obviously use 'assertTextPresent', but I want to do a bit more, and check that various bits of text are in the same row. What I would like to be able to do is to identify a tr by some content, and then use that tr in subsequent asserts; something like storeExpression //table[@id='TABLE_6']/td[.='case_1']/.. row assertText ${row} 'Some text' assertText ${row} 'Some other text' to check that 'Some text' and 'Some other text' occur in the same table row as 'case_1'. I haven't got this to work so far, and I'm not sure whether it is possible, or what syntax to use if it is. Has anybody managed to do this?

Can anyone point me in the right direction for this.

    I have an app that uses the LocationManage functions which works well until the app is stopped or paused. The location listener function is still carrying on in the background.     What's the best way to get a ul to start from 'x'? The start tag is depricated and everything I have found on Google has used the :before pseudo class which doesn't work in IE6 or 7. Didn't have much luck when searching stack either. Only thing I can think of is manually go through and number the lists myself and style accordingly? Any help appreciated.

MVVM Frameworks with WP7 support Rudi Grobler has been very busy and if you check the dates, these posts are all in a day or two! This first highlights two contenders for MVVM on WP7: Caliburn and MVVMLight... both well-supported... quick intro to each followed by good links out to the author's sites Reading barcodes from your WP7 device Rudi Grobler also has a cool post up on reading barcodes with your WP7... he's using the ZXing Barcode Scanning Library, and makes quick work of the job. Taking Sterling for a Test-Drive Rudi Grobler has a quick intro to Sterlink, Jeremy Likness' ISO database for Silverlight up... quickly taking care of writing and reading back data. SQLite on WP7 After his discussion of Sterling, Rudi Grobler is now demonstrating the use of SQLite that has been ported to WP7. Check out his demo code... looks pretty easy to use. Silverlight 4 + RIA Services - Ready for Business: Validating Data I'm running behind, but Brad Abrams' next post in his series is about validating data in the business application. He also discusses setting up shared code validation. A One-stop Shopping XAML Namespace for Silverlight Client SDK Controls Wolf Schmidt at the Silverlight SDK has a post up highlighting the SL4 XAML namespace prefix. He starts with SL3 then demonstrates the feature's use in SL4. Binding a Silverlight 3 DataGrid to dynamic data via IDictionary (Updated) Colin Eberhardt has an update to his previous article of the same title. This one is a bug fix on an upgrade to SL3 and also an expansion of the previous post. Demo Apps from MIX10 on Windows Phone 7 Anand Iyer posted links to all the WP7 demos used at MIX10 and at least in the case of FourSquare, the source is on CodePlex. XAML Files for Location Visualizations in Silverlight and WPF Matthias Shapiro has graciously provided XAML for us for Silverlight and WPF for a bunch of different US maps... too cool, now we don't have to be asking 'where did you get that map?'... thanks Matthias! Theming in Windows Phone Jaime Rodriguez has a post up that deep-dives theming in general and demonstrates using it on WP7... end-user configurations and developer stuff. Space Rocks game step 7: Moving the ship It appears that in the heat of battle (blogging) I said Bill Reiss' Space Rocks game he's building is for WP7... obviously it's not, but it's a game folks... :) THis is Episode 7 and he's moving the ship now. SL4(RC) RichTextBox and Access Violation Lee has some code that looks like it should work for a RichTextBox in SL4RC, and it's throwing an error... see if you have a solution for him... or is it a bug?
