  I have a problem with the following code: protected void onDraw(Canvas canvas) { Paint paint = new Paint(); // Draw a blue circle paint.setColor(Color.BLUE); canvas.drawCircle(100, 100, 50, paint); // Draw a red circle where it collides with the blue one paint.setXfermode(new AvoidXfermode(Color.BLUE, 0, Mode.TARGET)); paint.setColor(Color.RED); canvas.drawCircle(50, 50, 50, paint); } According to the API documentation of AvoidXfermode the tolerance value 0 means that it looks for an EXACT color match. This should work here because I specify the same color as I used for drawing the first circle. But the result is that the red circle is not drawn at all. When I use a tolerance value of 255 instead then it works (red circle is drawn where it collides with the blue one) but that sounds wrong because with such a high tolerance I think it should draw the circle EVERYWHERE. So what's wrong here? API Documentation? Android? Me?

  How does Subnetting Work, and How do you do it by hand or in your head? Can someone explain both conceptually and with several examples? Server Fault gets lots of subnetting homework questions, so we could use an answer to point them to on Server Fault itself. If I have a network, how do I figure out how to split it up? If I am given a netmask, how do I know what the network Range is for it? Sometimes there is a slash followed by a number, what is that number? Sometimes there is a subnet mask, but also a wildcard mask, they seem like the same thing but they are different? Someone mentioned something about knowing binary for this? Not looking for links to other sites (unless maybe you have one post with a bunch of good ones). I already know how to subnet, I just thought it would be nice if Server Fault had a generic subnetting answer.

  I am having repeated and frequent crashes ending session whenever I take certain actions such as loading gmail under Chrome. Oddly, the same is not happening when I go to gmail under Chrome. I've checked that I am using the mod_jk compiled for 2.0.x.. built against the same version I have, in fact. I've also verified that the path I'm giving to LoadModule is correct, and the permissions and the ownership of the file are the same as the rest of the modules'. When I remove the "LoadModule" command for mod_jk from my httpd.conf, there is no segmentation fault. Nothing shows in Apache's error logs. I have tried restarting the server with this module using both service httpd restart and httpd.   I have somehow managed to mangle my computer so that any time I attempt to use something that uses ptrace to trace another process (eg strace, gdb), I get an immediate segmentation fault. • Apache2 Segmentation fault with wsgi_module

  Apache 2.2.3 is running as an existing web server under RHEL 5. Attempting to set up Trac using wsgi_module. RHEL 5 ships with python 2.4, so in order to use the current version of Trac (1.0) I needed to install it with easy_install-2.6. Trac works with the default mod_python, however users strongly encourage not using this module as it is officially dead. Using RHEL's package manager, I downloaded/installed python26-mod_wsgi.so. I backed up the httpd.conf, then made the following additions: LoadModule wsgi_module modules/python26-mod_wsgi.so #...# WSGIScriptAlias /trac /www/virtualhosts/trac/deploy/cgi-bin/trac.wsgi <Directory /www/virtualhosts/trac/deploy/cgi-bin> WSGIApplicationGroup %{GLOBAL} Order deny,allow Allow from all </Directory> Next I moved trac.conf to trac.conf.bak (contains mod_python calls). I tested the configuration using: apachectl configtest Syntax is OK. So I reloaded the server config using: service httpd reload At this time, all virtualhosted sites stopped responding. I restored my backup copy of httpd.conf, reloaded the server config, and the virtualhosted sites are being served again. • Tracking down the cause of a web service fault running in IIS

  I have built a web service in Visual Studio 2008, and deployed it on IIS 7 running on Windows Server 2008 R2. It has been extensively tested, handles all errors gracefully and logs any uncaught errors to a file using log4net. The system normally runs perfectly, but occasionally (2 or 3 times a day) a fault occurs and screws up the application which needs an iisreset to get it working again. When the fault occurs I get some random errors that are caught by my catch-all error log, such as: Value cannot be null. Could not convert from type 'System.Boolean' to type 'System.DateTime'. Sequence contains no elements These errors are raised on every request until I manually do an iisreset, but there is no sight of them when the system is running normally. The web service is a stateless request-response application. Nothing is stored in the session. It could be load related, but I doubt it as there are only around 30 or 40 requests per minute. This is proving very tricky to track down. I can't work out what is putting IIS into this bad state, and why it needs an iisreset to get it working again. Nothing is reported in the event log. Can anyone suggest how to enable more extensive logging that might catch this fault? Also, does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

  I'm setting up a wordpress site for a friend who has some somewhat large audio files (150M)... He's on a bad connection and I'd guess it'll take him a while to upload those files with the normal wordpress way. I'm looking for a tool that I can install on the server that allows uploads and is also fault tolerant... for example if you loses his connection, or power, or whatever it'll pick up where it left off. I realize web technologies probably don't do that, but perhaps flash or something? Any ideas?

  Lately I have been receiving a lot of segmentation fault warnings on my web-server. The warnings look like: [notice] child pid xxxx exit signal Segmentation fault (11) I have consulted with the server provider (it is a dedicated redhat enterprise server) and they could not find anything. What I have done so far: Since the error I have already tried the following: I have added more ram I have turned off / turned on several php modules (they sent me to a web-page someone had the same problem, caused by an excessive amount of php modules) At the moments the warnings occur, there seems to be plenty of free ram left and the number of processes is very low (the number of httpd processes is about a quarter of the maximum allowed). What can be causing these errors? Edit: current versions apache: 2.0.52 php: 5.2.8 RHEL 4 Edit 2: Although I asked this a long time ago, I never was able to solve it until I upgraded to php 5.3.

• What is the best plan to handle server fault for google app engine [closed]

  I used google-appengine without preparing much backup plans before, but it looks like not a good idea anymore.... Since google app engine is quite hard to find a backup replacement, I plan to just add a "server error" page which will show while server fault. Currently I am thinking to: Use the cdn cloudfare in front of google app engine. It will also handle the NAME server for me. Prepare some static version of webpages (such as "Oops! the server fault") in another hosting platform While google app engine failed, I will switch the destination from google app engine to the static page by change the CNAME records on cloudfare. Is there any other recommand way to solve this situation?

• Problems with JQuery's Droppable Tolerance 'fit' feature when using the same size divs

  Hi I'm just wondering if anybody else can manage to get the tolerance:'fit' option to work when using the 'droppable' feature in jQuery's UI? I want to call a function only when the draggable div is dropped perfectly onto a droppable div. Both divs are the same size and I'm using snapMode:outer to help the end user. I simply cannot get it to work with 'fit'. Works perfectly with 'intersect'. Would really appreciate some help. Thanks Chris

• Fourth texture = segmentation fault

  I keep on getting segmentation fault each time I load fourth texture - what type of texture, I mean filename, does not matter. I checked value of GL_TEXTURES_STACK_SIZE which turned out to be 10 so quite more than 4, isn't it? An observation is that if I put the line: errorType memoryAllocationError=error::insertMessage("ERROR: out of memory."); inside the "main()" function instead of at global scope, then everything works fine. But I would like to extend the error messages at global scope, not at local scope. The map is defined static so that all instances of "error" share the same error codes and messages. Do you know how can I get this or something similar. Thank you very much.

• What is the difference between a segmentation fault and a stack overflow?

  For example when we call say, a recursive function, the successive calls are stored in the stack. However, due to an error if it goes on infinitely the error is 'Segmentation fault' (as seen on GCC). Shouldn't it have been 'stack-overflow'? What then is the basic difference between the two? Btw, an explanation would be more helpful than wikipedia links (gone through that, but no answer to specific query).
