  • Cannot deploy reports on localhost/reports

    I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, Sql Server Reporting Services(SSRS) on an xp virtual machine.. I have created a report and am trying to deploy it... but getting this error... The specified report server URL http://localhost/Reports could not be found. Verify the syntax of the URL and that the report server exists. I went to see my "services".... SQL Server (SQLEXPRESS) is "started", but SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) is not. When I try to start it, it says windows could not start the sql server on local computer error code 10048 I tried to go in cmd and tried C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe -sMSSQLSERVER I get this, Server Error: 17058, Severity: 16, State: 1. can someone please help me...

    Is the root directory where all files are kept (directly from accessing from FTP) always "www" or "public_html" depending on what OS? Or is it possible to rename this folder? And if so, what would be unique about this folder to be able to identify it? i.e. currently I just wrote this; my $root; my $ftp = Net::FTP->new($DB_ftpserver, Debug => 0) or die "Cannot connect to some.host.name: $@"; $ftp->login($DB_ftpuser, $DB_ftppass) or die "Cannot login ", $ftp->message; my @list = $ftp->dir; if( scalar @list != 0 ) { foreach( @list ){ if( $_ =~ m/www$/g ){ $root = "www"; last; }elsif( $_ =~ m/public_html$/g ){ $root = "public_html"; last; } } } but would not work if it has a different name.   • Host Name Resolution - ISA 2006 - VPN PPTP

    We are running an ISA 2006 server and PPTP VPN connection works fine. Clients are able to connect to internet, access Outlook, CRM, etc. The problem we are encountering is that host name resolution is not working. Example, when connected via VPN I can’t ping any box other than the VPN server by the host name. Nslookup also fails. I can ping everything fine via IP address. But for clients, they need to be able to access their “mapped” drives over the VPN which all are mapped by host name. I recently took over this position and it sounds like this used to work. What would be the best place to check first? I haven’t had much exposure to ISA and have been reading up a bit on installation procedures, etc. DNS is hosted and running on our domain controller, as well as WINS. It isn’t on the ISA box. Is there a firewall policy that perhaps got removed? What usually is required for host name resolution to pass through. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

  • How can I restore my laptop from Windows 7 to its original Windows Vista recovery partition?

    I bought my Acer laptop 4 years ago with Vista Home Premium x86. It has a recovery partition that I have used successfully in the past to format everything and reinstall Windows to factory settings. I have since upgraded to Windows 7, but I now need to get back to my original installation. Not sure what it's called, but I can successfully get into this recovery thingy: However, when I click the third option (for me I think it says 'Windows Image Recovery' or something like that) it tells me that it can't find any images to recover from :( I have checked and I don't have a windows.old that I can recover from either. One final note, if I launch diskmgmt.msc, these are the partitions: Why is the first partition shaded? Does that mean anything? Both of the 'unlettered' partitions are 100% empty. Did the Windows 7 upgrade process format my Vista system recovery partition?! And finally: How can I get back to my factory settings? EDIT: I did see this question, but neither of the answers apply to my situation. Edit to address jdh's answer: From what I can tell, I never get the option to boot the Vista recovery partition. After hitting F10, I get this screen, except it's partition 2, and I don't have the IN/MINT bit: I hit Escape, and then I get this screen, except without Ubuntu listed, and without the auto-countdown thing: I hit F8, and then I get this screen: I hit Enter on the first option, I end up at the screen in the first screen shot. As I said, from there I click the third option, and it fails to find the image, which I guess makes sense if it's only looking for a Windows 7 recovery. So I either need to make the Windows 7 tool see the Vista recovery partition, or I need the boot loader (?) to let me select Vista earlier in the process. Any ideas?

  • I want to dual boot Windows 8 on a Macbook Pro that doesn't already have Windows. Do I have to buy Windows twice?

    My girlfriend just bought a Macbook Pro, and she wants to to dual boot OSX with Windows. Specifically, she would like to use Windows 8. What I already know is the following: Windows 8 discs are only meant for upgrading from previous versions of Windows Windows 8 discs can be used to do a clean install, but (officially) only if there's already a legit version of Windows on the hard disk I've read somewhere of a disc being used to install Windows 8 on a fresh, out-of-the-box hard drive, and it all went well until the activation phase, where it said that the disc could only be used for upgrades The logical conclusion would be that in my circumstance, the only option is to buy a full (non-upgrade) retail copy of Windows 7, install that using boot camp, then load up Windows 7, insert the Windows 8 upgrade disc and do the 7-8 upgrade. However, I've read quite a few blog posts of people installing Windows 8 using bootcamp (e.g., Ars Technica, which leads me to believe that it might be possible to do so without installing Win7 first. The problem is that I'm not sure if these people were using preview versions, which obviously won't have the license issues down the track. Can anyone provide a definitive answer as to how to put Win8 on a Mac?

I've created a user using useradd [user_name] and given them a password using passwd [password]. I've created a directory in /var/ftp and then I bind this to the directory that I wish to limit access to. What else do I need to specifically do to ensure that when this user logs into FTP, they only have access to this directory please?

  • Games on windows 8 in bootcamp lag even on lowest graphics

    I've been playing Crysis 2 and Skyrim on my Retina MacBookPro (10,1) for months now. The two games used to run super smoothly even on nearly maxed out settings. This laptop has an Nvidia GeForce GT 650M graphics card inside, it runs great. But I recently replaced my Windows 8 consumer preview with the retail copy, and since then, 3D games lag in this odd way, no matter what the graphics settings. Every second Skyrim and Crysis alternates between running smoothly and lagging. It's a cyclical lag that comes and goes like clockwork. I can turn the graphics down to 800x600 with no antialiasing and low texture quality, and it runs much smoother on the "up" motion of the cycle, but every second it moves back into this lag spike. I've tried installing beta graphics drivers, re installing the operating system, re installing the bootcamp support software, and freeing up space (I have about 20 GB free). I can't figure out what suddenly caused this other than some obscure difference between the consumer preview and the retail version. What can I try? Is my video card failing? Are there some other drivers I can install? This isn't normal lag from maxing out the card, it

  • The winning combination: Oracle VM Server for x86 + Oracle Sun Fire HW

    You might be wondering why OVM Server for x86 (OVM/x86 here and below) should be seriously considered as a nice (business point of view) alternative to standard Hypervisors, if you are virtualizing Oracle Software, especially if you are planning to move to Oracle x86 Hardware (rackmount or blades). Well, let see some "not well known" facts that might interest you and help you in saving more money for your entire company (and not only the Virtulization team). Fact 1: OVM/x86 is considered as a hard partitionning technology (check page 2 of Oracle Server Partitionning Licencing Policies), so if you are buying new servers based on the latest INTEL Xeon E7 CPUs (10 cores per Socket) and have some licencing issues in deploying further Oracle SW, because you are using a hypervisor not recognized as a hard partitionning technology (like VMware), then you need to check here how to do it with OVM . This might help you to continue to deploy your Oracle DB instances on new x86 HW (12 cores, 40 cores, 64 cores servers) in a reasonable way, without having to pay licences for 12 CPU, 40 CPUs or 64 CPUs. You might also consider migrating your legacy Oracle DB DBs to a virtualized environment like OVM/x86 an recover some CPU licences, that can be reused somewhere else in production. Fact 2: OVM/x86 is free to use, without any extra licence for any specific feature (LiveMigration, High Availability, Embedded Management Console). If you want to use it on non Oracle HW, there is a support fee per  system and per year, that is much below VMware support (Oracle VM Premier Limited Support for systems up to 2 CPUs, and Oracle VM Premier Support for any bigger system, independently on the number of populated sockets). Fact 3: support is included with your Oracle x86 HW support (OPS for systems)  and you can re-install on you system Oracle Linux, Oracle Solaris or Oracle VM server for x86, without beeing charged, an keeping the same support level. Fact 4: it is less expensive to virtualize Oracle Linux or Oracle Solaris on OVM/x86 with Oracle HW that any other similar solution with VMware, because all the VMs are then supported and licenced when you buy Oracle HW with OPS. Fact 5: Oracle VM Templates bring you many Virtual Machines already installed, patched and optimized for various Oracle applications. And to be more specific, those templates are fully supported by Oracle, which is not really true when it comes to another hypervisor. By optimized VM Kernel, I mean PV drivers, OVM-ready kernels in the VM, single source clock for all the VMS, better memory management of the VM ... Fact 6: there is no extra costs for a management console.     I need to take an array of three lines in a text file and sort them base on the first line in Java. I also need to manipulate this as well and then print to screen. I have a test file that is formatted like this: 10 Michael Jackson 12 Richard Woolsey I need to input this from a text file and then rearrange it based on the number associated with the name. At that point, I need to use a random number generator and assign a variable based on the random number to each name. Then I need to print to screen the variable I added and the name in a different format. Here is an example of the output: 12: Woolsey, Richard Variable assigned 10: Jackson, Michael Other variable assigned I highly appreciate any help. I ask because I do not really know how to input the three lines as one variable and then manipulate later on in the program. Thanks, Cory

In glassfishv2 there was a "System Classpath" field which you could used in order to point to your log4j.properties file. But in glassfishv3 "System Classpath" is not supported any more. So where i have to put the log4j.properties file on glassfishv3??? Thanks

I'm pretty sure I can set it in server/conf/jndi.properties as well, but I was hoping to avoid another magic config file.   • Why does a ModalPopupExtender fail when using SSL?

    I have created a modal popup using the ModalPopupExtender in Microsoft's AJAX 1.0 for .NET 2.0. It works great when the page doesn't isn't being accessed through SSL (http://) however the link to close the popup fails to fire if accessing the page through https://. Is the ModalPopupExtender at blame? Is it a "Feature" of SSL to block popups, or is it something else I haven't though of?   • Flash CS3/AS3 - How to Mask Nested MovieClips in External Classes

    I have a number of external class files that make up (or are trying to build) a portfolio. One of the class files for this project is a Menu.as class I tried extends, but I'm yet to use extends to where it doesn't become a ball of tangled holiday cheer. So my main portfolio class (the one where I'm assembling everything) calls an instance of the Menu class. From the Preloader through the Portfolio class into the Menu class is where I'm passing the content because I want to package things properly. This is Menu content, so naturally I want to position it in a properly names spot. I'm trying to reveal this Menu in a mask and I'm getting the old #1009 error. In a trace, this will work: trace(site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc); // returns [object mainMask_mc_4] However, when I try to truncate the string into a single compact_mc... compactMenu_mc = site_mc.menu_mc.mainMask_mc; trace(compact_mc); // it won't trace (#1009). I said to hell with it, but now I need to have one MovieClip mask another. So I figure I can't go all... parent.parent.parent.clip_mc.mask = parent.parent.parent.masked_mc Probably because of datatyping and whatever else. I hate to be vague, but I'm new and have been working like gangbusters for days to get this portfolio up. Any suggestions or pointers on things my noob brain might've missed are given much thanks. :)

  • Back button loop with IFRAMES

    In my (school) website we use Iframes to display class blogs (on blogger). This works well EXCEPT if the user then clicks on (say) a photo inside the iframe. Blogger (in this case) then displays the photo in the whole browser window and the back button loops; that is if the back button is hit, the browser (IE, FF, Chrome) stays on the same page. The only way out is for the user to jump back two pages (which many of our users don't know how to do). I've read a lot of posts on back buttons and iframes and there doesn't appear to be a simple solution. Bear in mind that I don't have control over the iframe content (so no embedded back buttons in the frame are possible). Ideas anyone?
