• How can I use fetchmail (or another email grabber) with OSX keychain for authentication?

  Every fetchmail tutorial I've read says putting your email account password clear-text in a config file is safe. However, I prefer security through layers (since, if my terminal is up and someone suspecting such email foolery slides over and simply types "grep -i pass ~/.*" then, oops, all my base are belong to them!). Now, with msmtp (as opposed to sendmail) I can authenticate using the OSX keychain. Is there an email 'grabber' that lets me use Keychains (or at least, that lets me MD5 the password)?

• How to publish an intranet website on Vista 32 & IIS7

  I am creating an intranet website on a Vista 32 machine with IIS7. On my machine it works great! However, when other users on our network try to connect to it they get an error saying "Oops! Internet Explorer could not connect to computername". Perhaps this is because the NTFS and/or IIS permissions are not set correctly. How do I set the permissions to publish a website on the intranet? • How to install couchdb on mac osx 10.6

  I'm trying to install CouchDB on my mac, running snow leopard 10.6. I installed Xcode, MacPorts, and then followed the instructions here: http://wiki.apache.org/couchdb/Installing_on_OSX It all worked fine until I tried to visit the web interface: http://127.0.0.1:5984/_utils/index.html Google chrome said "Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to 127.0.0.1:5984" I tried connecting using telnet in bash and it said connection refused. Can somebody shed some light with some suggestions or perhaps and idiot-proof walkthrough?

• unable to connect site to different port

  I have a domain was registered at godaddy named http://mysite.com/. I logged into godaddy and I went to All Products Domains Domain Management. I clicked on the appropriate domain and it took me to the Domain Details page. I clicked Launch under DNS Manager and it took me to the Zone File Editor. I noticed that notify.mysite.com was pointing to an IP address pointing to a dead server, so I switched it to an operating server. Then I pinged the domain to see where it was pointing to and it was correctly pointing to the working server. So I copied the default configuration under sites-available: sudo cp default notify.mysite.com. And then I made some edits to it to have it point to a different document root to serve files at a different port: Listen 1740 Listen 64.135.xx.xxx:1740 #I also tried this as well: NameVirtualHost 64.135.xx.xxx:1740 <VirtualHost 64.135.xx.xxx:1740> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName notify.mysite.com DocumentRoot /var/www/test/public <Directory /var/www/test/public> Order allow,deny allow from all </Directory> ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log LogLevel warn CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined </VirtualHost> Then I enabled the virtual host. Then I went to the document root and added an index.html file with some text in it. Then I restarted apache. The restart gave no errors. Then I type the correct domain in URL: http://notify.mysite.com:1740/ and I get: Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to notify.mysite.com:1740 Somehow it took out all my other sites. Now even the ones that were responding on port 80 are no longe responding, even though I did not touch the virtual hosts for them. I get this message now: Oops!   No Silverlight today. I made a mistake. I created an application to upload a file and store it encrypted on a server. But I forgot to check on what machine it needed to be deployed. Yesterday I heard it was on an old ASP.NET 1.1 machine. Oops. Oh well, how hard can it be to change this simple application? Answer: much harder than I thought. Today I took out: Encryption using X509 Certificates Master Pages Compression Using statements Generic lists Upload control ASP.NET Membership All via a key hole to access a virtual machine. It has its charm, though, doing primitive things. Like camping on the moon.

You can also change it from the Terminal using this command, though obviously it’s much simpler to just change it under Sharing.

  Oops, I did it again... Auch wenn ich seit langer Zeit Projektarbeit im Hardwaregeschäft mache, bin ich doch leidenschaftlicher Softwareentwickler. Meine ersten Programme habe ich 1981 in ein Matheheft geschrieben, noch bevor ich Zugang zu einem Rechner hatte. Später habe ich einige Programme sogar als Shareware für Geld verkauft: Wer kennt noch ARV, das revolutionäre Dateienverwaltungsprogramm, das Dateien automatisch nach Themen soriert auf Disketten organisiert, oder T-Kal, den einfachen und benutzerfreundlichen Terminkalender? Alle waren wirtschaftlich weniger erfolgreich, was wenig wundert. Letztendlich waren es Programme, die ich für mich geschrieben hatte, und nur aus Interesse an den betrieblichen und steuerlichen Prozessen, die mit dem Vertrieb verbunden sind, zum Verkauf angeboten habe.  Nun habe ich es wieder getan. • kubuntu wallpaper settings disappear

  To render my system useable after upgrading to 11.10, I had to abandon gnome and install the KDE window manager. This is mostly fine, but the desktop wallpaper slideshow works for a few minutes and then gets reset to the default (fixed kubuntu splash background). I can start up the slideshow again by right-clicking on the background and re-entering all the Desktop Settings, but then it just disappears again after a while. What could be causing this? Oops!   What I failed to realize was that KDE apparently uses an independent wallpaper setting for each desktop. I have 12, so some were set to the slideshow but others were still set to the default. Being accustomed to one common wallpaper setting for all desktops, I misinterpreted this as a global reset. Sorry!

  I am trying to start my webhttrack on ubuntu 12.04 precise pangolin but all i get is the opening screen. When i press any button on the page it gives me the following errors: Oops! • My ubuntuone is broken, what is the problem?

  I am on 10.10 and u1sdtool seems to be completely broken. I reinstalled it, no change. I can add my PC to the account, but it is added twice(!) every time I tried. So I have my netbook and two times my PC in the account. The netbook with 10.04 has no problems. Below is the error msg I get when attempting to startup Ubuntu One on the command line. desktop:~$ u1sdtool --status Oops, an error ocurred: Traceback (most recent call last): Failure: dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken. desktop:~$ Starting it from the Me Menu has the same effect, the HDD will get really busy for a minute and then nothing happens, the client will not start. Nothing in the syslog or anywhere.

• At what point should data be sent back to server?

  A good example would be the stackexchange "rate" button. When a post is upvoted the arrow changes color immediately. However there is a grace period for one to edit one's vote decision (oops! voted by mistake?). Is the upvote action processed immediately or does is only process after a set time period, or when the user leaves the page? How exactly is this rating processed? What is the standard for handling dynamic page edits (e.g. stackexchange rating, facebook posts?)

• Trying to learn ASP.net

  Hi There, I have a background in computers and had done programming some seven years ago. Switched to becoming a technical writer (oops!). And now think I should jump ship again, back to being a programmer. Of course the natural course of action where I can spend say two whole years learning to code, might not be available any more. I am keen on ASP.net as its the language that most products at my company are written in. I am sure this has been asked before, but here I go... where do I begin? • IIS isn't propagating domain

  I called Godaddy and 'verified' my settings for the two ips were correct. ns1.asezo.com = xx.xx.xx.15 ns2.asezo.com = xx.xx.xx.16 then I set the nameserver of asezo.com to the ns1/ns2 above, which Godaddy tech support says is right. When I try to visit my site, it says Oops! Google Chrome could not find asezo.com. When I try to ping the website, it gives me a time out. I have the bindings in IIS for the default website as: http - xx.xx.xx.15 - 80 www.asezo.com and http - xx.xx.xx.15 - 80 asezo.com And I'm still getting nothing. I can go directly to the ip http://xx.xx.xx.15/ and it gives me the IIS default website, I just can't get the url to propagate. What am I doing wrong?

• My Herokuapp is inaccessible from custom domain name

  I have a Heroku app that is located at myapp.herokuapp.com. I have mapped a domain name to this app, using the A properties. I followed the instructions on Heroku's website to the letter, and it worked for a few days. Now when I try to access the site from the custom domain, it's timing out! On Chrome, I am getting "Oops! Google Chrome could not find that page!" message. I tried pinging the name as well, but I got this error: ping: cannot resolve yourhostname.org: Unknown host The app itself is working and I don't see any error messages from Heroku. Or from new Relic. What's going on here? Also tried running host and this was the error message: ;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

• session indicator icon goes wrong after I upgrade to 12.10

  I upgraded my 12.04 to 12.10 yesterday, everything goes fine. But I found the little gear icon of session indicator was show incorrectly. My first guess was that there's a Hardware problem of some sort and I asked my Hoster (it's a rented root server) to do a full hardwarecheck - they did, but couldn't find any problem. I don't know what and how they checked but their support team is usually quite good. I ran memtester and cpuburn myself and couldn't find any error either. Unfortunately I have no reliable way to reproduce these segfaults, they seem to be more or less random. On a hunch I disabled the firewall of the system and ran one of the programs that segfaulted regularily (imapsync) and it seemed to take longer to segfault than before, so the problem might be related to the network stack. Or could just be a random thing. • Temporary table resource limit
