  Hi guys, I have a element, containing three overlapping images. Inspecting the element in Chrome shows this: <span id=?"span1">? <img id=?"img1" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" width=?"120" style=?"position:? relative;? z-index:? 3;?">? <img id=?"img2" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" style=?"width:? 120px;? height:? 12px;?? position:? relative;? left:? -120px;? z-index:? 2;?">? <img id=?"img3" src=?"images/?progressbar.gif" style=?"width:? 120px;? height:? 12px;? position:? relative;? left:? -240px;? z-index:? 1;?">? </span>? The important point is that the second two images are given a relative position, shifting them to the left so they perfectly overlap the first. But the span itself is still 360 pixels wide (3 x 120 pixels per image). So how can I achieve this effect while keeping the span width tightly bounded around the images? Thanks!

• Multiple synonym dictionary matches in PostgreSQL full text searching

  I am trying to do full text searching in PostgreSQL 8.3. It worked splendidly, so I added in synonym matching (e.g. 'bob' == 'robert') using a synonym dictionary. That works great too. But I've noticed that it apparently only allows a word to have one synonym. That is, 'al' cannot be 'albert' and 'allen'. Is this correct? Is there any way to have multiple dictionary matches in a PostgreSQL synonym dictionary? For reference, here is my sample dictionary file: bob robert bobby robert al alan al albert al allen And the SQL that creates the full text search config: CREATE TEXT SEARCH DICTIONARY nickname (TEMPLATE = synonym, SYNONYMS = nickname); CREATE TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name (COPY = simple); ALTER TEXT SEARCH CONFIGURATION dxp_name ALTER MAPPING FOR asciiword WITH nickname, simple; What am I doing wrong?   Hi. I'm asking UDDI to find a service with a name specified in request. The code looks like this: UddiConnection uddiConnection = new UddiConnection(uddiAddress); FindService findService = new FindService(); findService.Names.Add(uddiServiceName); ServiceList foundServices = findService.Send(uddiConnection); However, when I ask for SomeService and UDDI has two services SomeService and SomeServiceSecond I get both in found services. How can I ask for service that name exactly matches the name specified? I know I can check the result in my class and limit found services collection but I would like to specify my needs in UDDI inquire. Thanks in advance for help.

By elegant, I mean something better than simply looping through all of the regexes and checking them against the string and stopping if a match is found. Basically, I had this code: list = ['something','another','thing','hello'] string = 'hi' if string in list: pass # do something else: pass # do something else Now I would like to have some regular expressions in the list, rather than just strings, and I am wondering if there is an elegant solution to check for a match to replace if string in list:. • No route matches error with application_controller spec

  I have an application_controller spec that is failing since I removed the controller/action route from routes.rb. I get the following error: No route matches {:controller=>"application", :action=>"index"} I had many tests fail in the same way, but was able to fix them by including the correct parameters in the get call. So for instance, if I wanted to get the standard show route for posts in my spec, I had to change get :show to get :show, :id => '1' Unfortunately, I'm not sure now what to pass along for the application controller specs.   I have multiple arrays with string values and I want to compare them and only keep the matching results that are identical between ALL of them. Given this example code: var arr1 = ['apple', 'orange', 'banana', 'pear', 'fish', 'pancake', 'taco', 'pizza']; var arr2 = ['taco', 'fish', 'apple', 'pizza']; var arr3 = ['banana', 'pizza', 'fish', 'apple']; I would like to to produce the following array that contains matches from all given arrays: ['apple', 'fish', 'pizza'] I know I can combine all the arrays with var newArr = arr1.concat(arr2, arr3); but that just give me an array with everything, plus the duplicates. Can this be done easily without needing the overhead of libraries such as underscore.js? (Great, and now i'm hungry too!) EDIT I suppose I should mention that there could be an unknown amount of arrays, I was just using 3 as an example.

  I have a mysql table "items" with 2 integer fields: seid and tiid The table has about 35000000 records, so it's very large. seid tiid ----------- 1 1 2 2 2 3 2 4 3 4 4 1 4 2 The table has a primary key on both fields, an index on seid and an index on tiid. Someone types in 1 or more tiid values and now I would like to get the seid with most results. For example when someone types 1,2,3, I would like to get seid 2 and 4 as result. They both have 2 matches on the tiid values. My query so far: SELECT COUNT(*) as c, seid FROM items WHERE tiid IN (1,2,3) GROUP BY seid HAVING c = (SELECT COUNT(*) as c, seid FROM items WHERE tiid IN (1,2,3) GROUP BY seid ORDER BY c DESC LIMIT 1) But this query is extremly slow, because of the large table. Does anyone know how to construct a better query for this purpose?

  I'm trying to figure out dates in Java and am completely lost. Do I use Date? Use epoch time? Gregorian Calendar? Let's say I have a want to store a date, then later compare it to other dates. For example, I've stored a date "10/27/2013". Then, I want to later compare it to dates entered later to see if a later date is identical to "10/27/2013", or if just the day, year, or month matches? What's the best way to do this?

According to my basic understanding of Clojure, that code should print a list of matches, but so far, no luck. It doens't crash, but it doens't match anything either. • View overlapping with RelativeLayout on Android 1.5

  I am having a problem with views overlapping in a RelativeLayout on Android 1.5... Everything is working fine on Android 1.6 and above. I do understand that Android 1.5 has some issues with RelativeLayout, but I was not able to find anything on StackOverflow or the android beginners group for my specific problem. My layout consists of four sections, each of which are made up of a TextView, a Gallery, and another TextView aligned vertically: Running Apps Recent Apps Services Processes When all four sets of these items are displayed everything works fine. However, my app allows the user to specify that some of these are not displayed. If the user turns off Running Apps, Recent Apps, or Services then the remaining sections all of a sudden overlap eachother. Here is my code for the layout. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. In order to tidy this table up, I need to get this information as a date range rather than a row per day as it currently is. I can obviously do this with Min and Max aggregates easily but the ranges overlap and other business code expect non-overlapping ranges. I also tried to achieve this with self joins and row_number(), but without much success... • No route matches when trying to edit

  Here's the scoop: I've created a test app that allows users to create ideas and then add "bubbles" to these ideas. Currently, a bubble is just text. I've successfully linked bubbles to ideas. Furthermore, when a user goes to view an idea it lists all of the bubbles attached to that idea. The user can even delete the bubble for any given idea. My problem lies in editing bubbles. When a user views an idea, he sees the idea's content as well as any bubbles for that idea. As a result, I've set all my bubble controls (editing and deleting) inside the ideas "show" view. My code for editing a bubble for an idea is <%= link_to 'Edit Bubble', edit_idea_bubble_path %>. I ran rake routes to find the correct path for editing bubbles and that is what was listed. Here's my error: No route matches {:action=>"edit", :controller=>"bubbles"} In my bubbles controller I have: def edit @idea = Idea.find(params[:idea_id]) @bubble = @idea.bubbles.find(params[:id]) end def update @idea = Idea.find(params[:idea_id]) @bubble = @idea.bubbles.find(params[:id]) respond_to do |format| if @bubble.update_attributes(params[:bubble]) format.html { redirect_to(@bubble, :notice => 'Bubble was successfully updated.') } format.xml { head :ok } else format.html { render :action => "Edit" } format.xml { render :xml => @bubble.errors, :status => :unprocessable_entity } end end end To go a step further, I have the following in my routes.rb file resources :ideas do resources :bubbles end So far everything seems to function except when I try to edit a bubble. • Help with a loop to return UIImage from possible matches

  I am parsing a list of locations and would like to return a UIImage with a flag based on these locations. I have a string with the location. This can be many different locations and I would like to search this string for possible matches in an NSArray, and when there's a match, it should find the appropriate filename in an NSDictionary. Here's an example of the NSDictionary and NSArray: NSDictionary *dict = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: @"franceFlag", @"france", @"greeceFlag", @"greece", @"spainFlag", @"spain", @"norwayFlag", @"norway", nil]; NSArray *array = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"france" @"greece" @"spain" @"portugal" @"ireland" @"norway", nil]; Obviously I'll have a lot more countries and flags in both. Here's what I have got to so far: -(UIImage *)flagFromOrigin:(NSString *)locationString { NSRange range; for (NSString *arrayString in countryArray) { range = [locationString rangeOfString:arrayString]; if (range.location != NSNotFound) { return [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:[[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:[dictionary objectForKey: arrayString] ofType:@"png"]]; } } return nil; } Now, the above doesn't actually work. I am missing something (and perhaps not even doing it right in the first place) The issue is, the locationString could have several locations in the same country, described something like this "Barcelona, Spain", "Madrid, Spain", "North Spain", etc., but I just want to retrieve "Spain" in this case. (Also, notice caps for each country). Basically, I want to search the locationString I pass into the method for a possible match with one of the countries listed in the NSArray. If/When one is found, it should continue into the NSDictionary and grab the appropriate flag based on the correct matched string from the array. I believe the best way would then to take the string from the array, as this would be a stripped-out version of the location. • CSS IE Hover Effect - Overlapping Elements, Display:Block, and Crashes

Hover over the first row, second column to see the effect. There are a couple of things I'm trying to accomplish: Make the activation area for the hover wider, so hovering over some space to the right of "Status 6" calls up the tooltip (say, 100-150px total width of target). At first, when I was adding "display:block" to a.tooltip, IE was terminating on hover. I resolved that by removing width:14em from a.tooltip:hover. Styling the width of the hover event + display.block on the a element does BAD things. Change the width of the tooltip without changing the width of the column/parent element (so the tooltip can be wider than itso it takes up less vertical space). Options for making the tooltips change width with its contents up to a max width, at which point the lines wrap would be awesome, but probably impossible in IE. As soon as I put a width in place on a.tooltip, the portion of the tooltip that is above other rows than the hover source let text show through from those cells. Remove the width and you'll see that the text doesn't show through any more. The hover effect applies to the entire tooltip, so if the tooltip covers 3 rows, while moving the mouse downward, the next 2 rows won't activate because the cursor hasn't left the tooltip. Can the hover effect apply only to the initial element hovered over and not the tooltip itself so moving the mouse downward will show each tooltip in each row? It would be nice if the links could never be activated (they can't take the focus). I don't know if that's possible. Too bad IE doesn't support hover on any elements but links. Note: soon IE6 will be abandoned in favor of IE8. If it makes a big difference, then IE8 can be the target browser instead. Thanks for your help.

• WPF - Overlapping Custom Tabs in a TabControl and ZIndex

  Problem I have a custom tab control using Chrome-shaped tabs that binds to a ViewModel. Because of the shape, the edges overlap a bit. I have a function that sets the tabItem's ZIndex on TabControl_SelectionChanged which works fine for selecting tabs, and dragging/dropping tabs, however when I Add or Close a tab via a Relay Command I am getting unusual results. Does anyone have any ideas? I know some of the changes are in effect because if none of them were working then the tab edges would be reversed (the right tabs would be drawn on top of the left ones). Clicking a tab will correctly set the zindex of all tabs (including the one that should be drawn on top) and dragging/dropping them to rearrange them also renders correctly (which removes and reinserts the tab item). The only difference I can think of is I am using the MVVM design pattern and the buttons that Add/Close tabs are relay commands. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can fix it?? p.s. I did try setting a ZIndex in my ViewModel and binding to it, however the same thing happens when adding/removing tabs via the relay command. EDIT: Being a new user I couldn't post images and could only post 1 link. Images just show a picture of what the tags render as after each scenario. Adding more then 1 at a time will not reset the zindex of other recently-added tabs so they go behind the tab on the Right, and closing tabs does not correctly render the ZIndex of the SelectedTab that replaces it and it shows up behind the tab on its right.
