  • IB Linking iPad SplVC table view

    hey guys When you have an iPad Project, and you want to put a table view in your landscape view... I did this i dragged in a UITableView. but what do you 'hook' the data source to? there are about 3 options that all seem to crahing for me... when not hooked up, app launches fine.     Hey Guys In an effort to 'clean up' my code - I was wondering if this could be made simpler. I have 32 images and I was adding them like this [theCarPics addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:@"1.jpg"]]; [theCarPics addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:@"2.jpg"]]; //... [theCarPics addObject:[UIImage imageNamed:@"32.jpg"]]; is there a simpler way? loop perhaps? Any ideas would be appreciated guys Thanks Sam

    Hey all, I'm trying to have the following tag toggle between a "-" and the checkmark character (✓) <a id='p_4' class='fancy_button orange bls_button' href='#'>-</a> And here's the jquery code: if (button.text() == '-') { button.html('&#10003'); } This works in FF3.6 and IE8, but not in WebKit (Chrome or iPhone safari). Is there something I'm doing wrong, or does webkit just not like .html("✓") Thanks, Sam

    So here's the confusion, let's say I declare an array of characters char name[3] = "Sam"; and then I declare another array but this time using pointers char * name = "Sam"; What's the difference between the two? I mean they work the same way in a program. Also how does the latter store the size of the stuff that someone puts in it, in this case 3 characters? Also how is it different from char * name = new char[3]; If those three are different where should they be used I mean in what circumstances?

  • Reset Windows Password with Ubuntu Live CD

    A friend brought me his PC with Windows Vista to reset the user password because he didn't use it for a long while and forgot his password. So I found a tutorial on how to reset the password by using a Ubuntu Live CD and the software chntpw. After I installed this software I mounted the SYSTEM partition by opening it with the file explorer. It is now available at /media/SYSTEM/ The tutorial says I have to open the file /windows/system32/config/sam with chntpw and reset the password with chntpw -u USERNAME sam After I did this it didn't show me any errors. So I unmounted the partition and rebooted the PC with the installed Windows Vista. It is still locked with the old password. Did I do any mistakes or is there an other way to reset the password?

  • Should I change the name in the WTFPL?

    I'm using the WTFPL in my personal projects published on GitHub. Currently I'm using it verbatim, but I have the suspicion I shouldn't be leaving Copyright (C) 2004 Sam Hocevar <[email protected]> in there, and instead should use my name. But the license is very confusing about this. Half of the WTFPL is about the WTFPL itself, so I thought that copyright might refer to a copyright on the license text itself, and not on the project this is licensing. Also, it says Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim or modified copies of this license document, and changing it is allowed as long as the name is changed. So would I have to change the name, from WTFPL to, say, "WTFPL-Domenic"?

    Ok so I am trying to fix a broken package in order to install wine. When I do "sudo apt-get install wine" I get: sam@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install wine [sudo] password for sam: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... I removed the Official Wine PPA and tried it I even tried $ sudo apt-get -f install 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Please help me :( System: Ubuntu 12.10 64bit

  • Destroyed user account on OS X with dscl; how to restore? [migrated]

    I was trying to create a new user on my OS X Lion machine, and somehow managed to destroy my own user's account. Here are the steps I took; hopefully someone here can recognize what I did, and maybe identify some way around this. First, I ran these commands: sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch /bin/bash # mistake! sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch UserShell /bin/bash sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch RealName "Elastic Search" sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch UniqueID 503 # MY uniqueID sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch PrimaryGroupID 1000 sudo dscl localhost -create /Local/Default/Users/elasticsearch NFSHomeDirectory /Local/Users/elasticsearch The big mistake I made here was using "503", which was my user's UniqueID. Immediately my shell username changed to "elasticsearch". I fiddled around, tried to change the current user with sudo su -u sritchie, but this didn't work. On restart, only the "Elastic Search" user was available. I logged into the Lion Recovery partition and reset the root password. After logging in as root and checking on the terminal, I made the remarkable discovery that my home folder was totally empty. I deleted the elasticsearch user, but it made no difference. I don't see anything in Deleted Users either. The odd thing is that when I log in now as myself (sritchie) I can see desktop icons with previews. I can even open a few text files from the Downloads folder if I use the dock alias to Downloads. Could this data be hiding somewhere? Any help would be REALLY appreciated! Thanks, Sam

  • ssh-add insists on passphrase

    I have a new ssh key problem. I have successfully used them for years with Heroku, Git and other servers so I can login without having to issue a passphrase. A few weeks ago, I was unable to push a git repository on my machine to my Heroku and it responded with Permission denied (publickey). Hmm. Everything else but this Heroku function still works. So I ssh-keygen -t rsa -C "newHeroku" with no passphrase (hit return so it would be empty). So I enter: sudo chmod 600 ~/.ssh/newHeroku* Then: ssh-add ~/.ssh/newHeroku.pub Returning return for the passphrase asked it exits without error. The next step is to: ssh-add /Users/sam/.ssh/newHeroku.pub To verify that it's "live" I enter: ssh-add -l To which the output is still The agent has no identities. Okay, to eliminate variables, I repeat the key generation process but entering in a passphrase for a new key. I ssh-add the new key and get the "Enter passphrase" as expected. Now this is why I'm posting here and not on a Heroku blog because ssh-add fails because the passphrase I used keeps getting rejected. It appears, even though I have no problem with my keys elsewhere, that something is wrong with passphrase because even though I get no errors, I get errors when on the one that expects a passphrase. One question, should I expect the Passphrase request for ssh-add when I have not generated a passphrase? It's been suggested that this is a clue and I offer it. Or maybe I have a poor understanding of what ssh-add is doing. Wouldn't be the first time I asked a stupid Q. Also, I'm on Lion and have updated no system updates in the few weeks of this period except application updates.

I discovered Scalapack libraries but they seem to me developed long time ago. Do you know if these are other libs available that I should learn doing math & linear algebra in a cluster?   • performance counter

    Hi All I created a performance counter for my C# application. Its type is NumberOfItems32. I don't know why but the Performance Monitor is displaying me on the y-axis only as maximum value only 100 when my counter is much more bigger than this for sure.   • CPU consumption of my process

    Hi all I would like to use Performance Monitor to check the CPU consumption of my process. Right now I am working on a MultiCore machine. If I have a look at my process in TASK MANAGER I see that my process consumes 20% of CPU. If I start performance monitor, I select Process--% Processor Time I see values peaking up and over 100%. Do you know why and how to get the real measure? I also looked at the CPU consumption for all of my 4 cores, but I don't know exactly how to attribute consumption to my process. If you can suggest a link or url about how to read CPU usage I would really appreciate! Thanks a lot! AFG

  • form update too expensive to be executed in Winform.Timer.Tick

    Hi all I have a WinForm drawing a chart from available data. I programmed it so that every 1 secong the Winform.Timer.Tick event calls a function that: will dequeue all data available will add new points on the chart Right now data to be plotted is really huge and it takes a lot of time to be executed so to update my form. Also Winform.Timer.Tick relies on WM_TIMER , so it executes in the same thread of the Form. Theses 2 things are making my form very UNresponsive. What can I do to solve this issue? I thought the following: moving away from usage of Winform.Timer and start using a System.Threading.Timer use the IsInvokeRequired pattern so I will rely on the .NET ThreadPool. Since I have lots of data, is this a good idea? I have fear that at some point also the ThreadPool will be too long or too big. Can you give me your suggestion about my issue? Thank you very much!   • time series in python up to microseconds

    Hi All I would like to handle time series in python. I have been suggested to use scikit.timeseries but I need to handle up to microseconds and this last, as far as I know, handles up to milliseconds. Do you know any other library able to do that? At some point I need to merge 2 time series sampled at different time, and I would like to avoid rewriting such kind of features or any new classes from scratch whenever it is possible.
