  • FTP, permissions: I cannot see permissions but I can change them

    hi, I'm browsing a server with my ftp client. When I try to get the information about a folder, I cannot see the permissions (all rwx checkboxes are uncecked). If i try to check one of it, the opeartion is succesfull (I don't get any error), but then when I come back it is again unchecked. What does it mean ? I don't have privilegies to read permissions but I can change them ? Thanks

    I have Windows Vista installed on my machine and I am facing this really annoying problem. Whenever I open a folder having images, image thumbnails appear for an instant and they are replaced by standard file icon. Argh... Points to note: Setting "Always show icon, never thumbnail" is unchecked Running Windows Aero theme (with transparency support) Have 4GB of RAM on my machine so memory is not a problem Please can you suggest a solution?

    I am trying to create a ERD using VISIO Professional 2010 (full install) but I am having problems. I can't open the table properties windows at the bottom of the screen when I double click on a table, and I can't right-click on the table and choose properties because the choice is not there... The Database tab is missing from the ribbon on top. What can cause this? Here is what I already tried: File/Options/Trust Center/ Trust Center Settings.../Add-ins/Disable all Application Add-ins is UNCHECKED

  • GPO IE Favorites Adds Unwanted Folders

    I created a AD 2003 GPO to add a couple of the company's links to everyone's IE. I have the following: Checked: Place Favorites and Links at the Top of the List... Unchecked: Everything else Then: Favorites |-Company Link One |-Company Link Two Links However, the GPO seems to add Favorites Bar, Microsoft Websites, MSN Websites, and Windows Live folders. If they are deleted it seems to make them come back. Anyone know how to fix this?

    In Aquamacs 2.0 preview 6, when opening new files externally (e.g., via Quicksilver or via dragging files on the Aquamacs icon) they always open in new frames (i.e., new windows). I would prefer new files to be opening in the same frame, just in a new buffer (possibly with tabs turned on). I already unchecked the option "Show Buffers in new Frames", but that only seems to affect the behavior of the built-in open command (Command-o). Are there any options for this or some other way to modify this behavior?

  • How to remove Games on Fedora 14?

    While installing the fedora desktop I had unchecked the Games and Entertainment section but I can still see the same Games options available in the menu. I tried checking the same in the Add/Remove Programs but I was not able to get the option for uninstalling the same. Games which are present are: AisleRiot Solitaire, lagno, Mines and Sudoku I would like to delete the games options available. Can someone help me doing the same?

    I've wrote a simple batch file to connect to a specific VPN connection using RASDIAL rasdial MyVPNConnection but it always returned the error 691 Access denied because username and/or password is invalid on the domain. Remote Access Service (RAS) Error Code List then i tried pointing to my Remote Access Phonebook (Rasphone.pbk) and see what happens rasdial MyVPNConnection /phonebook:%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Network\Connections\Pbk\rasphone.pbk and still there was an error 691. I've then unchecked the following but still the same problem was reported when executing my batch file.

I check "Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object" Apply. I get a Windows Security dialog that says, "Setting security information on" the list of objects that flashes by. But now the "Replace all child object permissions" box is unchecked. What is happening here?

    Windows XP professional SP3 Firefox 13.0.1 NoScript Addon 2.4.6 I can't click Javascript links, like for opening a popup window (which I usually don't care about, but this time it was Important :-( ). I mention NoScript as I used to have a button where I could temporarily enable Javascript so the link would work, but with one of the latest updates this seems to be gone. I have "Block popup windows" unchecked and "Enable Javascript" checked in Options. How can I get the NoScript button back?

    I have a Windows XP machine that locks itself after an unknown amount of time. I have disabled the screen saver completely, and unchecked "lock computer when coming out of standby". I've even overrode the settings with gpedit. Even still, it locks itself after a while, and it doesn't take long. If it's any sort of hint, the time period for the screensaver is greyed out, even if I choose an actual screensaver.

There was a list of user accounts in opened window, then selected a user account and unchecked some option then the user account was gone from welcome screen.. Does anyone aware of this method?

    I do not want my laptop to change brightness when my laptop power is plugged in or unplugged. I set my brightness based on how bright my surroundings are. If I am in a dark room, I set my brightness very low and when I plug my laptop in the brightness gets set to maximum which feels like sticking my eyes in boiling lava. In System Settings ?   • Dual Monitor results in 'greyed' windows

    This occurs in Maverick and Natty. Single screen is fine, mirror of single screen is fine. If the mirror box is unchecked and the second monitor is turned on to extend the desktop then all windows are greyed out (like they do when a process has timed out and is unresponsive) and pop up menus are greyed out but icons, panels and background are fine and the windows do operate (just can't see them well enough to use) I have a D620 with intel graphics. This machine did work with dual monitors at some time in the past, however I have been using another machine, a D630 with nvidia and it works fine. Yes, there have been any number of updates. I also upgraded from Maverick to Natty to see if it would go away. No joy. Also, the D620 has a dual boot windows system and the windows xp system works fine with daul monitors There is a forum thread that goes into more detail and there are a number of users experiencing this problem.     Dear beloved community! I accidentally disabled some applications from the notifications bubble. I was wondering, how can I renable the hidden applications again? I found a few answers on askubuntu and the ubuntu forums, but unfortunately the information no longer corresponds properly to the actual file system (e.g: dconf-editor - apps - nm-applet - "disable-connected-notifications" and "disable-disconnected-notifications" are disabled "unchecked", does no longer apply, I can't see anything in there except stamp = value 3).     I have posted a new release of the Simple Little Registry Editor found in Windows CE: Simple Little Registry Editor.  This release fixes a problem with writing DWORD values when the most significant bit is set.  The application uses RegistryKey.SetValue.  There seems to be a problem with how the .NET CompactFramework (and the full framework) handle the second argument during the call which causes an exception.   • why not use unmanaged safe code in c#

    There is an option in c# to execute code unchecked. It's generally not advised to do so, as managed code is much safer and it overcomes a lot of problems. However I am wondering, if you're sure your code won't cause errors, and you know how to handle memory then why (if you like fast code) follow the general advice? I am wondering this since I wrote a program for a video camera, which required some extremely fast bitmap manipulation. I made some fast graphical algorithms myself, and they work excellent on the bitmaps using unmanaged code. Now I wonder in general, if you're sure you don't have memory leaks, or risks of crashes, why not use unmanaged code more often ? PS my background: I kinda rolled into this programming world and I work alone (I do so for a few years) and so I hope this software design question isn't that strange. I don't really have other people out there like a teacher to ask such things.

  • Tomboy won't start

    I've just discovered Tomboy and like it. I added it to the startup applications, and on next boot Tomboy won't start. It then also won't start when I select it manually from the menu. I unchecked its entry in the startup applications and rebooted, but it still won't start. I uninstalled it and installed it again in order to perhaps fix some broken file or setting, but it didn't help. I saw this question and added the Applet. But the applet says "Tomboy Notes" has quit unexpectedly and a reload doesn't work; the message appears again. How can I determine (and fix!) what's wrong?
