  • Is it possible to programatically catch JavaScript SyntaxErrors?

    - by Matty
    I don't think that this is doable, but wanted to throw it out to the community to confirm my suspicions. Let's say you're writing a program in another language like Python, PHP, or ASP. This program is intended to build another program written in JavaScript. However, the first program is unfortunately not immune to errors. So, occasionally, the program which builds the JavaScript program does some funky stuff and outputs a syntax error in the JavaScript source. Now some user goes and loads the program and it essentially halts, because the web browser running it can't properly parse the JavaScript. This user is probably not going to be happy. I wouldn't be. This brings me to my question. Is it possible to write an error handler that would catch these kind of syntax problems allowing the application to fail gracefully? Here's an example: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> window.onerror = errorHandler; function errorHandler(a,b,c) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } vara jfs; </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html> or <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"> try { vara jfs; } catch (e) { alert('horray! No wait, Booo!'); } </script> </head> <body> Can this be done? </body> </html>

  • How do I compare two datatables

    - by cmrhema
    I have a datatable that will consist of 72 columns. I will download it in the excel sheet using VSTO, which works fine. Now the user will change either one of these rows or all of these rows and will also insert a fresh row. Considering the datatable downloaded first to be dtA, and the one that has been modified in the excel sheet to be dtB. I want to compare dtA and dtB. I need to find out all the rows in dtB that do not exist in dtA. I cant put foreach loop for each and every single row and evaluate as its a very untidy way of coding. What is a better way to do this? I did this way, DataTable dtA = new DataTable(); dtA.Columns.Add("ENo"); dtA.Columns.Add("ENo1"); dtA.Columns.Add("ENo2"); dtA.Columns.Add("ENo3"); dtA.Columns.Add("ENo4"); for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { DataRow dr = dtA.NewRow(); dr[0] = "Part 0 " + i.ToString(); dr[1] = "Part 1 " + i.ToString(); dr[2] = "Part 2 " + i.ToString(); dr[3] = "Part 3 " + i.ToString(); dr[4] = "Part 4 " + i.ToString(); dtA.Rows.Add(dr); } DataTable dtB = new DataTable(); dtB.Columns.Add("ENo"); dtB.Columns.Add("ENo1"); dtB.Columns.Add("ENo2"); dtB.Columns.Add("ENo3"); dtB.Columns.Add("ENo4"); for (int i = 5; i < 10; i++) { DataRow dr = dtB.NewRow(); dr[0] = "Part 0 " + i.ToString(); dr[1] = "Part 1 " + i.ToString(); dr[2] = "Part 2 " + i.ToString(); dr[3] = "Part 3 " + i.ToString(); dr[4] = "Part 4 " + i.ToString(); dtB.Rows.Add(dr); } Response.Write("\n"); Response.Write("dt A"); Response.Write("\n"); for (int i = 0; i < dtA.Rows.Count; i++) { Response.Write(dtA.Rows[i][i].ToString()); Response.Write("\n"); } Response.Write("\n"); Response.Write("dt B"); Response.Write("\n"); for (int i = 0; i < dtB.Rows.Count; i++) { Response.Write(dtB.Rows[i][i].ToString()); Response.Write("\n"); } var VarA = dtA.AsEnumerable(); var varB = dtA.AsEnumerable(); var diff = VarA.Except(varB); Response.Write("except"); foreach (var n in diff) { Response.Write(n.Table.Rows[0].ToString()); } But I do not know what to use in the foreach var, What should I use pls?

  • Start thread with two parameters

    - by Matt
    I've got a method that gets called on an event, which presents me with two variables varA, varB (both strings). This method gets called with new information quite frequently, thus I have created a separate method that takes in the two parameters. I want to run this method in a thread, however have struck the issue that Thread.Start will not accept parameters. I've tried a few supposed methods, but have so far had no luck.. I think my best bet is to create a separate class, and handle it there.. However I have a List which I am inserting data into, and hit a dead end when the separate class tried to access that list, since it was in a different class. Can someone help me out here please?

  • long running process in asp.net C#

    - by user339323
    Hello All, I have a web application that has a long running (resource intensive) process in the code behind and the end output is a pdf file (images to pdf conversion tool) It runs fine..and since I am on a dedicated server, it is not at all a problem with respect to resources right now. However, I wonder that the system would reach its resource limits if, there are more than 20 users processing at a time. I have seen services online where the user enters their email and the processes are, I suppose, queued in the background and the results emailed with the 1st in 1st out method. Can someone please give me a start on how to implement this kind of logic in asp.net applications using C#? Thanks a lot in advance, Prasad.
