  • How to save a remote server SSL certificate locally as a file

    I need to download an SSL certificate of a remote server (not HTTPS, but the SSL handshake should be the same as Google Chrome / IE / wget and curl all give certificate check fail errors) and add the certificate as trusted in my laptops Windows' certificate store since I am not able to get my IT guys to give me the CA cert. this is for office commnunicator so I cannot really use the actual client to get the cert. How do I do this, I have Windows 7 and a pile of Linuxes handy so any tool / scripting language is fine.

    I have the following in my Apache conf to get PHP-FPM working: FastCgiExternalServer /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler -host 127.0.0.1:9000 AddHandler php-fastcgi .php AddType text/html .php Action php-fastcgi /var/www/cgi-bin Alias /var/www/cgi-bin /srv/www/fast-cgi-fake-handler DirectoryIndex index.php This works fine except that SCRIPT_NAME is always /var/www/cgi-bin and some scripts use SCRIPT_NAME to work out the location of the current script (vBulletin). Google has plenty of solutions for Nginx but not a word for Apache.

    On a server running Debian Wheezy and Samba ver 3 with a tdb backend, how do I restrict a single user from changing the password? This account is one of 2 generic accounts, one for students and one for Teachers on Call (TOC). The users are created, but I'm not deploying the server yet. When looking through Google, I came across setting the maximum password age, but not setting the minumum password age (I'd be happy with a 5 year password...)

  • FreeBSD with 64 CPUs

    I have a quad socket octo-core system running FreeBSD. Currently, I need to turn off HyperThreading to get it to boot, as FreeBSD only supports 32 CPUs. There were some patches made awhile ago against a trunk version of 8.1, but even after modifying them slightly to work and compile with 8.1-RELEASE, the machine wouldn't boot. Has there been any progress here? I can't find much good information about it, Google thinks I'm talking about 64-bit architecture and not literally 64 CPUs.

My backend returns a response like https://www.google.de/test and my browser receives https://www.mydomain.de/test How do I get nginx to just forward the response?

It's been a while since I dealt directly with apache, but my memory and google seem to indicate that the only way to rotate apache log files is outside of apache, using a periodic script.     So of lately, I've had to warn my users to watch out for unwanted programs that are coming in with Adobe Flash and Java updates. Adobe seems to be pushing Google's Chrome and Java with the Ask.com Toolbar. I admit that it could be much worse because both instance simply require an uncheck during some point of the update process, but on a large scale, prevention is better than confrontation.     I am pretty sure that the latest Ubuntu release does not support my wireless internet card. Everything was working fine in 9.04 and since upgrading my browser will load web pages. I can see and connect to my wep encrypted network. I can ping google.com and lose no packets. I am at the end of my tether, what else can I try? Is it possible to download a driver to re-enable my wireless?
