  • How can I link glibc statically with qt

    - by yan bellavance
    I have built a static version of qt and download a static version of glibc. Now I would like to link glibc statically to my qt application. I know about going into the .pro and adding the line LIBS += -L path/to/static_lib but I am wondering if these that is enough? Will it still link glibc statically even though the OS I am building on has the dynamic libraries also? The reason I am doing this is to deploy the application in a standalone manner. (After installing and updating Red Hat 5.3 glibc_2.9 was not found on the target computer)

  • Pass potentially infinite number of arguments to array except a single numeric variable in a PHP com

    - by tehalive
    I'm trying to make a PHP script that will take a potentially infinite number of URLs from the command line as arguments. I also need to pass an argument that only has a single numeric value possible (to specify timeout), e.g.: ./urltest.php 60 url1.com url2.com url3.com I'm not exactly sure how to specify argv[1] to be a single numeric variable while at the same time the rest of the arguments (i.e. the list of urls) go into an array. Maybe something like: $timeout = $argv[1]; $args = func_get_args(); function numfilter($num) { return !is_numeric($num); } $urls = array_filters($args, 'numfilter'); ? Thanks in advance!

  • Possible memory leak problem

    - by MaiTiano
    I write two pieces of c programs like following, during memcheck process using Valgrind, a lot of mem leak information is given. int GetMemory(int framewidth, int frameheight, int SR/*, int blocksize*//*,int ALL_REF_NUM*/) { //int i,j; int memory_size = 0; //int refnum = ALL_REF_NUM; int input_search_range = SR; memory_size += get_mem2D(&curFrameY, frameheight, framewidth); memory_size += get_mem2D(&curFrameU, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&curFrameV, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem3D(&prevFrameY, refnum, frameheight, framewidth);// to allocate reference frame buffer accoding to the reference frame number memory_size += get_mem3D(&prevFrameU, refnum, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem3D(&prevFrameV, refnum, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&mpFrameY, frameheight, framewidth); memory_size += get_mem2D(&mpFrameU, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&mpFrameV, frameheight>>1, framewidth>>1); memory_size += get_mem2D(&searchwindow, input_search_range*2 + blocksize, input_search_range*2 + blocksize);// to allocate search window according to the searchrange /*memory_size +=*/ get_mem1D(/*&SAD_cost, height, width*/); // memory_size += get_mem2D(&searchwindow, 80, 80);// if searchrange is 32, then only 32+1+32+15 pixels is needed in each row and col, therefore the range of // search window is enough to be set to 80 ! memory_size += get_mem2Dint(&all_mv, height/blocksize, width/blocksize); return 0; } void FreeMemory(int refno) { free_mem2D(curFrameY); free_mem2D(curFrameU); free_mem2D(curFrameV); free_mem3D(prevFrameY,refno); free_mem3D(prevFrameU,refno); free_mem3D(prevFrameV,refno); free_mem2D(mpFrameY); free_mem2D(mpFrameU); free_mem2D(mpFrameV); free_mem2D(searchwindow); free_mem1D(); free_mem2Dint(all_mv); } void free_mem1D() { free(SAD_cost); } Now I hope to make sure where are the possible problems in my program? Here I may post some valgrind information to let you know about the actual error information. ==29105== by 0x804A906: main (me_search.c:1480) ==29105== ==29105== ==29105== HEAP SUMMARY: ==29105== in use at exit: 124,088 bytes in 18 blocks ==29105== total heap usage: 37 allocs, 21 frees, 749,276 bytes allocated ==29105== ==29105== 272 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 1 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804885E: GetMemory (me_search.c:117) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 352 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 2 of 18 ==29105== at 0x4024F20: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:236) ==29105== by 0x409537E: __fopen_internal (iofopen.c:76) ==29105== by 0x409544B: fopen@@GLIBC_2.1 (iofopen.c:107) ==29105== by 0x804A660: main (me_search.c:1439) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 3 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048724: GetMemory (me_search.c:106) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 4 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048747: GetMemory (me_search.c:107) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 5 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048809: GetMemory (me_search.c:114) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 6 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804882C: GetMemory (me_search.c:115) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 7 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804A4F8: get_mem3D (me_search.c:1393) ==29105== by 0x804879B: GetMemory (me_search.c:110) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 584 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 8 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804A4F8: get_mem3D (me_search.c:1393) ==29105== by 0x80487C9: GetMemory (me_search.c:111) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 1,168 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 9 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x8048701: GetMemory (me_search.c:105) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 1,168 bytes in 1 blocks are still reachable in loss record 10 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x80487E6: GetMemory (me_search.c:113) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 1,168 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 11 of 18 ==29105== at 0x402425F: calloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:467) ==29105== by 0x804A296: get_mem2D (me_search.c:1315) ==29105== by 0x804A4F8: get_mem3D (me_search.c:1393) ==29105== by 0x804876D: GetMemory (me_search.c:109) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456) ==29105== ==29105== 6,336 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 12 of 18 ==29105== at 0x4024F20: malloc (vg_replace_malloc.c:236) ==29105== by 0x804A25C: get_mem1D (me_search.c:1295) ==29105== by 0x8048866: GetMemory (me_search.c:119) ==29105== by 0x804A757: main (me_search.c:1456)

  • Update RHEL 5.1 to 5.4

    - by Rayne
    Hi all, I have a server currently running RHEL 5.1, and I would like to upgrade it to RHEL 5.4. The server is not connected to the Internet, so I don't think I can use "yum update". How would I be able to upgrade my server, and is it just a small-scale upgrade, like Windows patches, leaving everything on the server intact, or would it delete everything that was on the server? Thank you. Regards, Rayne

  • How the kernel gives seg. fault for a scenario like this?

    - by bala1486
    I have a doubt in accessing some invalid data. How will the OS cause segmentation fault for a scenario like this? Suppose a date segment has some 100 bytes. This will be mapped and a page table entry will be created. But the page size is 4K. Consider the data segment is aligned with this page boundary. So at first consider accessing a valid data within the 100 bytes. So now the page table entry is in TLB. Next if you try to access some invalid data between the 100 and 4K, the entry is there in page table and will it be allowed to access the invalid data??? Thanks, Bala

  • File system to choose for NAS box based on FreeNAS or OpenFiler [closed]

    - by Chris
    I'm a photographer and I have a requirement find a better method of storing my photos other than multiple USB2 drives via USB hubs. Currently I use a Macbook Pro and 6 external drives connected via USB2 or FW800. 3 are a copy of the first three, kept up to day manually by running an rsync backup. I'd like to run a FreeNAS or OpenFiler NAS box using 2TB drives mirrored via software RAID. But - I would like to have the flexibility of also plugging into the drive physically for the faster throughput when necessary. So. My question is, is there a file system that both *nix and Mac OSX will play nice with? Many thanks, Chris.

  • Man machine interface command syntax and parsing

    - by idimba
    What I want is to add possibility to interact with application, and be able to extract information from application or event ask it to change some states. For that purpose I though of building cli utility. The utility will connect to the application and send user commands (one line strings) to the application and wait for response from the application. The command should contain: - command name (e.g. display-session-table/set-log-level etc.) - optionally command may have several arguments (e.g. log-level=10) The question to choose syntax and to learn parse it fast and correctly. I don't want to reinvent the whell, so maybe there's already an answer out there.

  • How to develop a DirectFB app without leaving X.11 environment.

    - by Edu Felipe
    Hi folks, I'm trying to develop a GUI application for an embedded platform, without any windowing whatsoever and I'm doing that with DirectFB, and it suits my needs very fine. Since the embedded I develop for is not that powerful, I would really like to try to develop on my own Ubuntu desktop. The problem is Framebuffer is conflicting with X.org causing me to leave the whole desktop, and shutdown X.org just to see the result of my changes. Is there a good framebuffer simulator that suits my needs? Qt has one, called QVFb, but it only works for developing Qt apps, and the VNC back-end of DirectFB always crash. So, any ideas?

  • PHP set timeout for script, set_time_limit not working

    - by tehalive
    I have a command-line PHP script that runs a wget request using each member of an array with foreach. This wget request can sometimes take a long time so I want to be able to set a timeout for killing the script if it goes past 15 seconds for example. I have PHP safemode disabled and tried set_time_limit(15) early in the script, however it continues indefinitely. I've given up troubleshooting set_time_limit() and was trying to find other ways to kill the script after 15 seconds of execution. However, I'm not sure if it's possible to check the time a script has been running while it's in the middle of a wget request at the same time (a do while loop did not work). Thanks for any tips!

  • Powermock Slows Down Test Startup on Eclipse/Fedora 10 when on NTFS partition

    - by MrWiggles
    I've just started having a proper play with Powermock and noticed that it slows down test startup immensely. A quick look at top while it was running shows that mount.nfts-3g was taking up most of the CPU. I moved Eclipse and my source directory to ext3 partitions to see if that was a problem and the tests now startup quicker but there's still a noticeable delay. Is this normal with Powermock or am I missing something obvious?

  • About fork system call and global variables

    - by lurks
    I have this program in C++ that forks two new processes: #include <pthread.h> #include <iostream> #include <unistd.h> #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/wait.h> #include <cstdlib> using namespace std; int shared; void func(){ extern int shared; for (int i=0; i<10;i++) shared++; cout<<"Process "<<getpid()<<", shared " <<shared<<", &shared " <<&shared<<endl; } int main(){ extern int shared; pid_t p1,p2; int status; shared=0; if ((p1=fork())==0) {func();exit(0);}; if ((p2=fork())==0) {func();exit(0);}; for(int i=0;i<10;i++) shared++; waitpid(p1,&status,0); waitpid(p2,&status,0);; cout<<"shared variable is: "<<shared<<endl; cout<<"Process "<<getpid()<<", shared " <<shared<<", &shared " <<&shared<<endl; } The two forked processes make an increment on the shared variables and the parent process does the same. As the variable belongs to the data segment of each process, the final value is 10 because the increment is independent. However, the memory address of the shared variables is the same, you can try compiling and watching the output of the program. How can that be explained ? I cannot understand that, I thought I knew how the fork() works, but this seems very odd.. I need an explanation on why the address is the same, although they are separate variables.

  • packet mmap send packet format

    - by SeregASM
    I want to improve packet transmitting performance. Before that I used raw sockets and now I study packet_mmap. I have packets(frames) which I already captured from kernel module from another PC, put to current PC and now I want to retransmit them to local interface with following forwarding. I have got example of packet_mmap, integrated it to my project, but I send fd_socket = socket(PF_PACKET, SOCK_RAW, htons(ETH_P_ALL)); memset(&my_addr, 0, sizeof(struct sockaddr_ll)); my_addr.sll_family = PF_PACKET; my_addr.sll_protocol = htons(ETH_P_ALL); strcpy(str_devname, "eth0"); strncpy(s_ifr.ifr_name, str_devname, sizeof(s_ifr.ifr_name)); ec = ioctl(fd_socket, SIOCGIFINDEX, &s_ifr); i_ifindex = s_ifr.ifr_ifindex; memset(&my_addr, 0, sizeof(struct sockaddr_ll)); my_addr.sll_family = AF_PACKET; my_addr.sll_protocol = ETH_P_ALL; my_addr.sll_ifindex = i_ifindex; bind(fd_socket, (struct sockaddr *) &my_addr, sizeof(struct sockaddr_ll) s_packet_req.tp_block_size = c_buffer_sz; s_packet_req.tp_frame_size = c_buffer_sz; s_packet_req.tp_block_nr = c_buffer_nb; s_packet_req.tp_frame_nr = c_buffer_nb; size = s_packet_req.tp_block_size * s_packet_req.tp_block_nr; if (setsockopt(fd_socket, SOL_PACKET, PACKET_TX_RING, (char *) &s_packet_req, sizeof(s_packet_req)) < 0) { perror("setsockopt: PACKET_TX_RING"); return; } if (c_sndbuf_sz) { printf("send buff size = %d\n", c_sndbuf_sz); if (setsockopt(fd_socket, SOL_SOCKET, SO_SNDBUF, &c_sndbuf_sz, sizeof(c_sndbuf_sz)) < 0){ perror("getsockopt: SO_SNDBUF"); exit(1); } } data_offset = TPACKET_HDRLEN - sizeof(struct sockaddr_ll); printf("data offset = %d bytes\n", data_offset); ps_header_start = (tpacket_hdr *) mmap(0, size, PROT_READ | PROT_WRITE, MAP_SHARED, fd_socket, 0); if (ps_header_start == (void*) -1) { perror("mmap"); exit(1); } Then I fill data ps_header = ((struct tpacket_hdr *) ((char *) ps_header_start + (c_buffer_sz * i_index))); if (!ps_header) { perror("ps_header") ; return NULL; } data = ((char*) ps_header) + data_offset; switch ((volatile uint32_t) ps_header->tp_status) { case TP_STATUS_AVAILABLE: printf("TP_STATUS_AVAILABLE, index=%d\n",i_index) ; memcpy(data, packet_data, size); pthread_mutex_lock(&index_locker) ; i_index++; pthread_mutex_unlock(&index_locker) ; if (i_index >= c_buffer_nb) { i_index = 0; first_loop = 0; } /* update packet len */ ps_header->tp_len = size; /* set header flag to USER (trigs xmit)*/ ps_header->tp_status = TP_STATUS_SEND_REQUEST; then I send ec_send = sendto(fd_socket, NULL, 0, 0, (struct sockaddr *) ps_sockaddr, sizeof(struct sockaddr_ll)); I have got no errors, ec_send=not null size of sended data. But there are no data routed to destination host. So, I ask - what data I should pass to ring buffer, now I include headers ip,tcp, should I include MAC header? - May be I have to set additional flags to route my packets.

I want to set the current state to 4 (Connection Present). This is because Network Manager is not able to connect using my modem and I use other tools to connect. Pidgin, Empathy and other software are not able to detect the network.

  • How to properly siglongjmp out of signal handler?

    - by EpsilonVector
    Suppose I have the following code: In order to implement a context switch I activate ualarm and when it jumps to the handler it setjmp's the current context, and longjmps to the next, expecting to eventually return to the alarm handler and longjmped back into this context (the contexts are cycled through in a Round Robin). For this I need to keep SIGALRM unblocked in between alarm_handlers. I came up with the following code, which doesn't seem to work. What's wrong with it and what is the right way to do this? void alarm_handler(){ if(sigsetjmp(toc->threads[toc->RR_pointer].env, 0)){ ualarm(200, 0); signal(SIGALRM, alarm_handler); return; } get_next_context_number(toc->RR_pointer); //is a macro for (j=0; j<10; j++) printf("ALARM HANDLER\n"); siglongjmp(toc->threads[toc->RR_pointer].env, 1); }

  • how to bind a link local address to an ipv6 socket

    This thread can be treated as a sister thread of this. It's will be very tedious that when you want to bind a link local adress to a ipv6 socket you need to the set sin6_scope_id field of sockaddr_in6 struct as well. I'm wondering if someone can provide a good practise like solution here for me or anyone who interested in this topic to learn from.

  • Listing time every second as a Bash script

    - by Caleb
    Hello all, first time here as I've finally started to learn programming. Anyway, I'm just trying to print the time in nanoseconds every second here, and I have this: #!/usr/bin/env bash while true; do date=(date +%N) ; echo $date ; sleep 1 ; done Now, that simply yields a string of date's, which isn't what I want. My learning has been rather messy, so I hope you'll excuse me for this if it's really simple. Also, I did manage to fine this, that worked on the prompt: while true ; do date +%N ; sleep 1 ; done But that obviously doesn't work as a script.

I tried to put these lines at the very end of the makefile, but it doesn't work clean: rm -f $@ echo Clean done What's the right way to do it?
