• Can I find out which thread is running using Eclipse?

  I close my application by pressing a "Close" button. But in the Eclipse I see a red square indicating that something is still running. When I press this red square, I kill my application completely. Is it possible to find out what is still running (which method, which loop) using Eclipse? P.S. I am a newbie. So, it would be nice to have a simple solution. I also might not understand your answer if you use "technical" words which I do not know.

• MS Access - Keeping track (transacation) of all activity while form is open...

  Hi and thanks for reading. I am not a database/vba guy and my experience is strictly in the JAVA world. However, I need to have an ACCESS form open. While it is open and new data is entered into it (via the underlying query OR any other data changes in other tables based on sql updates attached to buttons on this form), is there a way that I can initiate a transaction so that at the bottom of the form I could have a button that says "Exit and committ changes" or "Cancel and Rollback changes". I guess I thought of a situation where I could do something like: On Form OPEN, START TRANSACTION On "CLICK OK", COMMIT TRANSACTION or ON "CLICK CANCEL" ROLLBACK. I'm aware how to do the Workspace.BeginTransaction but I'm not sure if that will apply if I do it on FORM OPEN and then on FORM CLOSE do the COMMIT/ROLLBACK locgin? Any insight would be great.

  My situation is a little strange I guess, suggestion of engineering is acceptable. I have a DropDownList, on my "user" creation, called "city". When I'm creating the user I can create other city, but for this I have a button which redirect to other page. So, ok. I've created the new City and now I click on my DropDownList of cities and guess what?! The field is not reloaded. My first idea is every that I click on DropDownList, reload the data, but I can't find some OnClick action for Asp.Net DropDownList. This is my question, some idea? Thanks in advance.

• Avoid application becoming unresponsive on download

  Hi I have an application which downloads a file from a network location and then displays that files information. It uses WebClient.DownloadFile to achieve this. The problem is, when the user clicks a button to start the download, the application becomes unresponsive until the file has downloaded. This gives the impression the application may have hung. I would like to seek ideas which would avoid this scenario. Though my solution will need to be 'as quick and cheap as possible' I would be interested in hearing about custom loaders that have been built, or some sort of loading symbol / progress bar / sand time clock thingy : ) Thanks for reading.

  I can use some help with an AVAudioPlayer issue. My App is basically an interactive audio book. The RootViewController is a UITableView using a drill-down approach sitting on top of a Navigation Controller. The first level are the Chapters and the second level are the Topics. Each Topic goes to an audio file which plays in a SoundPlayerViewController utilizing AVAudioPlayer - standard stuff. If the user leaves the SoundPlayer to browse Chapters and Topics with the Back button(s), the audio continues playing - this is good. If the user selects a new Topic, the current audio file stops and the new audio file begins playing - this is good. What I have not been able to figure out is how to allow the user to go back to the current SoundPlayer so they can rewind, pause or whatever. This is not so good. Any help with an approach or pointing to some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance.

  In my C# application i need to trigger some events when a VLC player (preferably) starts playback (a play button is pressed in VLC for example).Tried Windows Media Player classic with Microsoft Spy++ and observed messages that are sent when playback starts\repeats but i don't know how i could "catch" those messages in my C# code.So my question: is there any way to hook up to event in VLC (or WMP) and get notified about playback status (play, stop, start of repeat). My goal is to create a C# function that waits for start of playback event in player and then triggers some actions in my application (this should also happen when playback ends and starts repeating). What approach should i take here? Just to clearify: I don't want to embedded a new instance of VLC in my app, but instead control/read the "real" full version of VLC, started seperatly by the user

• Strange issue with jQueryUI and .htaccess RewriteRule

  I have the following rule in my .htaccess which redirects any requests for /labs/... to /projects/...: RewriteRule ^labs/(.+)$ projects/$1 [L] Where projects is a local folder on my web server. I'm using jQueryUI on a page in a subfolder of projects, say projects/project1/index.php. When I hit http://mydomain.com/projects/project1/ everything is fine. However if I hit http://mydomain.com/labs/project1/ almost everything is fine, except that I get the following warning in my JS console: Resource interpreted as image but transferred with MIME type text/html. ui-bg_highlight-soft_60_4ca20b_1x100.png And my jQueryUI button loses its glossy look. I don't even know where to begin to try to solve this. But if anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm not looking for exact code solutions, I'm rather looking for good solutions on this, and/or if this is a terrible idea of an easy database(?).

• How to shutdown local tomcat server when closing browser window?

  Hi, I hava a web app running on a local tomcat server. When the user starts the app (via desktop shortcut) the server starts and the app is opened in a browser window. But when the user just clicks on the close button to stop the application the server is still running in the background - that's annoying. I tried to utilize the "unonload" and "onbeforeunload" events from javascript but unfortunately these events are also fired on some other requests in the app. So I can't use them, except I do a lot of refactoring. Does anyone have an idea for a possible solution? Btw, what I find interesting is the behaviour of Visual Studio when debugging a web application. When I close the browser window Visual Studio also gets a trigger to stop debug mode. So it seems it somehow notices the close event of the browser window, which would be exactly what I need.   In my iPhone project I'm using a UITableview with UITableViewCells containing UITextfields. I have seen in many apps that it is possible to use a next button to jump to the next textfield in the next cell. What is the best way to accomplish this? My idea is to get the indexPath of the cell with the textfield that is being editing and then get the next cell by cellForRowAtIndexPath. But how can I get the indexPath of the cell I'm currently editing? Thanks!

• Padding/Margin/Border On Element Does Not Change DIV Height

  Here is a very simply jsFiddle to demonstrate my problem: http://jsfiddle.net/ryandlf/mSmUv/4/ When an element has a top padding or margin and it sits on the first line within a div, the div does not respect that padding or margin and push the element down. In most cases this isn't an issue, but for example, if I have a button that has a top border and padding the top of the border will be cut off because the div is not taking into consideration the padding value. Is there a workaround for this other than just blindly setting margins or padding on every container div element and hoping I have added enough to account for any internal element that might be affected?

• Google chat badge not working anymore?

  I was using google talk chat badge (chatback - small iframe code that enables remote user to chat with you as anonymous) for some years but now it is not working anymore. The generated code is fine as it seems it opens a new window and all but after a second, it redirects to support.google.com page which of course is not of much use. I rechecked the code, generated new code, didn't help. Again redirects to support.google.com. The code is generated from http://www.google.com/talk/service/badge/New Anyone knows what's going on? Have they discontinued it or? Also, a suggestion - is there any alternative web-presence button like that for other messengers which don't require client on other end. For Skype, Windows Live or some other messenger?

  I have a simple form showing products from my database. Each product has a foreign key to manufacturer_id . I would like to filter my form by manufacturer_id instead of default product_id. How I can do that ? I know I must create a macro. Also I've already created a query, that takes manufacturer's name as argument and returns manufacturer_id. So basically it should work in this way, that when I press 'Filter' button on my form, it runs macro that opens my query asking for manufacturer's name. And when the name is returned the whole form is filtered (so somewhere there should be comparison between manufacturer_id in product and that returned from query, but I can't manage to do that).   I have an application which has different font sizes for different controls say Button: 10, TextBlock : 12 etc. I want to give options to the user where he can select any one of the below say Normal , Small, Big, Bigger. Suppose one selects "small" I would want to decrease every distinct font size by 2. If "Big", I would want to increase every font size by 2. I hope we can do this using converter sending actual font size as parameter and render as per the selected choice if I am not wrong. What will be the best option.   Hello I need to record the demo of a program in Windows, and save this into an AVI file so that I can upload it to YouTube. I tried Wink for this, but unless I overlooked it, it saves files as Flash (FLV), which YouTube refused. Is there an open-source alternative? I don't need something hardcore, just a tool that will let me save a demo, and insert a couple of slides where the demo stops to let the user read stuff and click on a button to resume watching. • JSF - Updating Model Values in Controller Bean

  I have a Controller bean (SearchController) that has two managed bean as managed properties (SearchCriteria, SearchResults; both of which are session scoped). When the user hits the find button, the action method that is executed is in SearchController. The SearchCreteria managed bean has a method called search(). This method returns a new SearchResults object. In the controller bean, I am setting the searchResults managed property to be this new SearchResults object. The searchResults object contains what I expect during that request, but the object does not persist in the managed bean. I understand that I am changing what object that searchResults is referencing, but what I don't understand is why JSF isn't updating the model to use the new object. Any ideas what I'm missing or don't understand? I am using JSF 1.1 on WebSphere 6.1. If I put the search method in the SearchResults managed bean, it works.
