  • TSql Lookup function

    - by OldMan
I have a bunch of dimension tables that have unique ID and Name fields. I need a T-SQL function that returns an ID when passed a table name and a value for the name field. I'm guessing the query would build a little query then execute it? Performance isn't an issue since this is a one time ETL thing.

  • In what situations does Flash SWF misbehaves in different browsers.

    - by coderex
Hi, Recently I had some issues with Flash in IE, involving a SWF which is something like a gallery. In Firefox its loads perfectly, but in IE it doesn't work properly sometimes. The first time it is loaded its works fine but when I refresh all the images are blank. The image data came from XML. I wish to get some tips regarding the browsers and Flash / SWF behavior in each. Thanks in advance.

  • CouchDB in Production

    - by NoelAdy
I have been using CouchDB on some prototype applications and it has been brilliant, very easy to use and extremely quick. I was wondering if anyone has been using it in production and have any views on it's reliability, performance suitability for operational management etc ?? I am considering using it to support a service layer and would make use of its replication functionality. Any comments/experiences would be most welcome.

  • I'm still learning OOP. Any tips on staying unbiased and pragmatic?

    - by marcdev
I keep reading about defficiencies and issues with languages. Specifically, I'm learning PHP and Javascript, but I see it everywhere. This question arose while reading Javascript: The Good Parts and PHP Objects, Patterns and Practice. While understanding and avoiding easy pitfalls, is there a way I can learn the fundamentals of OOP and discover solid programming practices without overlooking important areas (or simply becoming jaded)? I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunity to learn from mistakes!

  • Dataset size limit as an xml file.

    - by np
Hi We are currently using DataSet for loading and saving our data to an xml file using Dataset and there is a good possibility that the size of the xml file could get very huge. Either way we are wondering if there is any limit on the size for an xml file so the Dataset would not run into any issues in the future due to the size of it. Please advise. Thanks N

  • Is there any small linux distribution which comes with a complete C development environment

    - by hits_lucky
Hi, I have installed "Damn Small Linux" on my home computer for doing C development in unix. But the distribution doesn't by default come with the C development environment and I am facing some issues when trying to install the gcc. Is there any other small Linux distribution which by default has the required packages for the C development. And also I don't want additional software which takes up lot of space but still would like to have the graphical environment. Thanks

  • Created query is not supported by my DB

    - by stacker
I created an application using seam-gen. The created operation to search the DB ends with and exception (syntax error). The query has a where clause like this: lower(barcode0_.barcode_ean) like lower((?||'%')) limit ? Does hibnerate or seam create the where clause which my DB can't understand? Or is there a workaround for SQL statement related issues in seam?

  • With (or similar) statement in JQuery

    - by Salman A
Very simple question: I want to optimize the following jQuery code with maximum readability, optimal performance and minimum fuss (fuss = declaring new variables etc): $(".addthis_toolbox").append('<a class="addthis_button_delicious"></a>'); $(".addthis_toolbox").append('<a class="addthis_button_facebook"></a>'); $(".addthis_toolbox").append('<a class="addthis_button_google"></a>'); $(".addthis_toolbox").append('<a class="addthis_button_reddit"></a>'); . . .

  • Simple Reliable UDP C++ Libraries

    - by EToreo
Hello, I am in need of a reliable UDP library. The one I wrote does not work too well and I would like to see what a 3rd party can do in the same circumstances. Enet will not work because of some "interesting" compile issues in xcode (I have another question on stack overflow about that). Any suggestions for a portable, reliable UDP library would be greatly appreciated.

  • mongodb java driver - raw command?

    - by Scott
Is it possible to execute raw commands as javascript through the Java driver for MongoDB? I'm tired of wrapping everything in Java objects using Rhino, and would happily sacrifice performance for the convenience of passing javascript directly through to the DB. If not, I can always use sleepymongoose or something, but I don't really want to add yet another language (python) to the stack at this point. Any insights are appreciated.
