  • Android Device Management

    - by Jon Hopkins
I'm looking at the possibility of using Android as a secure corporate mobile platform. One of the pre-requisites for this will be a way of managing multiple devices, security policies, software deployment, that sort of thing - essentially the things the BlackBerry Enterprise Server handles for BlackBerry or MDM (or something 3rd party like SOTI) handles for Windows Mobile. Does such a thing exist for Android? It's a platform we're interested in but without this right now (and we're not in a position to build it ourselves) it's a non-starter.

  • What is a good metaphor for c memory management?

    - by fsmc
I'm trying to find a good metaphor to explain memory allocation, initialization and freeing in c to a non technical audience. I've heard pass-by-reference/value talked about quite well with postal service usage, but not so much for allocation/deallocation. So for I've thought about using the idea of renting a space might work, but I wonder if the SO crew can provide something better.

  • GCommit doesn't work with fugitive.vim under windows xp?

    - by Paul Wicks
I've just discovered fugitive.vim, which is pretty cool. However, I've run into a problem (this is using windows xp, msys git 1.7, fugitive.vim 1.1, and gvim 7.2). Adding files to the index and checking the status works just fine, but when I do a :GCommit, a command prompt flashes for a second and nothing happens. No way to type a commit message and nothing is committed. Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong?

  • Setting PATH in Makefile run by eclipse

    - by Chris Jefferson
I have a Makefile which runs fine from a bash shell, but fails to run from Eclipse. This is because the path I am setting in my .bash_profile is not getting used. What is the best way of making this happen? Is there somewhere else I could put the path, to make sure it is invoked in non-interactive shells (which is I assume how eclipse is running make)?

  • International Zip Code Search

    - by Dave
I implemented a U.S. "find near zip code" search for somebody. The coordinates of U.S. zip codes come from a commercial zip code database. Now, they would like a similar ability for countries other than the U.S. Has anybody implemented something like this for non-U.S. searches? How about general "find close to this address" searches? What commercial data is available?

  • Javascript !something && function()

    - by cpf
Hi Stackoverflow, I have been looking at the source code of raphael (http://raphaeljs.com/index.html) and I see a lot of stuff like !variable && function() (e.g.: !svg.bottom && (svg.bottom = this); ) What does that exactly do? Does it check first and execute only if not true? Thanks.

  • Prism: How to render one view on top of another

    - by Nate Noonen
We have a Prism/WPF application and are using an expander to animate a menu. When the expander expands, the content is rendered behind the main region's content. The menu is in a different region than the content it is supposed to overlay (since the menu governs what items go into that region) which is why this is occurring. We have tried setting the Z-Index of the ContentControls to no avail.

  • How to enumerate returned rows in SQL?

    - by SilentGhost
I was wondering if it would be possible to enumerate returned rows. Not according to any column content but just yielding a sequential integer index. E.g. select ?, count(*) as usercount from users group by age would return something along the lines: 1 12 2 78 3 4 4 42

    - by chris-gr
Hi, I have a Wicket Web Page where I create a new Object of class A: A a = new A(User u); In A I would like to have setter injection, however this is actually not done. I have heard that one must provide an empty constructor but how is it possible to have also a non - empty constructor with setter injection?

  • .NET Compact Framework app that will run on both Professional and Standard

    - by CJCraft.com
Is there any guidance on creating apps that will run on both professional (touch-screen) and standard (non-touch-screen) devices. I have a simple application that is mostly text and buttons that in theory should be able to run on both professional and standard devices with little if any modification. It seems the IDE wants to make this hard to impossible, but I expect it to be possible. Any advice?

  • Null pointer exception on .iterator() call

    - by Peter
I'm getting a strange NullPointerException, evidently thrown by the following line of code: Iterator<Note> it = notes.iterator(); I've checked, and at the time the java.util.TreeSet notes is always non-null (with 15 elements). The TreeSet API says nothing about iterator() throwing NullPointerExceptions. What else could be going here?
