  • RIM blackberry Record 3GP video

    Hi All, I am writing an application that can record a 3GP video. I have tried both MMAPI and Invoke API. But have following issues. Using MMAPI: 1. When I record to stream, It records video in RIMM streaming format. when I try to play this video player gives error "Unsupported media format.". 2. When I record to a file. It will create a file of size 0. Using Invoke API: 1. In MMS mode it does not allow to record a video more than 30 seconds. 2. In Normal mode size of the file is very large. 3. Once I invoke camera application I do not have any control on application.     Scenario: I am maintaining a function which helps with an install - copies files from PathPart1/pending_install/PathPart2/fileName to PathPart1/PathPart2/fileName. It seems that String.Replace() and Path.Combine() do not play well together. The code is below. I added this section: // The behavior of Path.Combine is weird. See: // http://stackoverflow.com/questions/53102/why-does-path-combine-not-properly-concatenate-filenames-that-start-with-path-dir while (strDestFile.StartsWith(@"\")) { strDestFile = strDestFile.Substring(1); // Remove any leading backslashes } Debug.Assert(!Path.IsPathRooted(strDestFile), "This will make the Path.Combine(,) fail)."); in order to take care of a bug (code is sensitive to a constant @"pending_install\" vs @"pending_install" which I did not like and changed (long story, but there was a good opportunity for constant reuse). Note that _application.Client.TempDir is just _application.Client.BaseDir + @"\pending_install". While there are many ways to improve the code, I am mainly concerned with the part which has to do with String.Replace(...) and Path.Combine(,). I do not want to make changes outside of this function. I wish Path.Combine(,) took an optional bool flag, but it does not. So ... given my constraints, how can I rework this so that it starts to suck less?

I have a degree in CS so I have a solid foundation...   • What does "the application failed to initialize properly" mean?

    I just got a bug report from someone running an app I wrote under Windows XP. He says it won't start up. The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application. It works fine at my end, (under Windows 7,) and I don't have any Win7- or Vista-specific stuff in the program, so it should work on XP too. How do I go about tracking this down and debugging it?

    the goal is to start with ['a','b','c'] and end up with {'a'={'b'={'c'={}}}} so, getting my bearings, i did this: ruby-1.8.7-p174 ['a','b','c'].inject({}){|h,v| h.update(v = {})} = {"a"={}, "b"={}, "c"={}} and then figured, if i actually pass on the result hash, it will recurse and nest, but: ruby-1.8.7-p174 ['a','b','c'].inject({}){|h,v| h.update(v = {}); h[v]} = {} why is this? any idea how to achieve the desired result in an elegant one-liner?

    I want to be able to remove linebreaks etc that people make by using recurring characters, for example: **************************************************** ---------------------------------------------------- ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ etc i'd like to not have to specify which characters it will match, maybe all that are NOT \w characters? also note they will not always start/end on a new line.. is this possible?
