• I need a dictionary-like mapping between characters and other kinds of objects. Which class would be

  This is in Squeak/Pharo. If I want to have a mapping between Character objects like $a and $b to other kinds of objects, and want to look up those other objects based on the Character, what is the best class to use? Dictionary is an obvious choice, but seems wasteful to be hashing character objects which are basically already numbers. I guess what I want is a kind of array where the character value (number) is used as an index/offset, but I am not sure if this is possible with Unicode.

• C++ Why isn't call by reference needed for strcpy()

  I have a homework assignment with a number of questions. One is asking why the strcpy() function doesn't need the call by reference operator for CStrings. I've looked through the book numerous times and I can't, for the life of me, find the answer. Can anyone help explain this to me? It is an array of sorts so I would think you would need the call by reference.

  I am new in Prolog. I need to declare a function which looks at a list like [[1, 0, 0], [1, 0, 0], [1, 0, 0]] and if the value is 0 returns its address(by considering it as a double array).   I have a 2D array declared like this: int arr[2][2]={ {1,2},{3,4}}; Now if I do: int ** ptr=(int**) arr; and: cout<<**ptr; I am getting a segmentation fault (using g++-4.0). Why so? Shouldn't it be printing the value 1 (equal to arr[0][0])?

I see it being used in some of the data sources found in https://github.com/cakephp/datasources/blob/master/models/datasources/amazon_associates_source.php but not sure why.
