  • How to not run function if its a mobile device?

    I have a modal pop up function on my website, but i don't want this to run if the browser is smaller than 480px. I have found that if I put an if statement such as: if (window.innerWidth && window.innerWidth > 480) { run function() } Then it should run only if the browsers innerWidth is 480. However its not working and I think its because I have page scaling on this website. Can any one help me with a conditional statement if page scaling is on? Thanks.

    Hello, I am looking for ways to protect my product images and I don't know if there's anything out there better than what I've already found: disable right click, use a transparent image in front of your picture and watermarking. Obviously none of them is perfect but I was curious if someone came up with a better solution to this problem. Also is there any rails plugin to aid with that ? Thanks

  • Brainfart: How to make overflow content in a div

    I cant even come up with a proper subject for this one... Basically I have a box div, that when click expands to a rectangle and shows content in the new expanded area. The problem I'm having is that when I animate out the div's width, the browser wants to render the content as the box is stretching, rather than just have it placed where I need it.   • How to keep submit button visible and executable upon textarea onblur

    I have a <div id="comment_posting_holder"> tag that holds a form with two elements: a textarea box and a submit button. I want to have the div tag (containing the textarea and submit button) disappear if I click somewhere "OTHER" than the submit button. I have a start for the code below. So upon leaving focus from the textarea, I can make the div tag disappear. I tried placing in a mouseclick event inside the blur function for the submit button but that did not work. Any suggestions? Thank you! **Facebook does this with it's comments. If you click on a "Post your comment..." field the textarea appears and then it will disappear upon losing focus other than if you pressed the submit button. $('textarea').blur(function() { $('#comment_posting_holder).hide(); });

    Hi Folks, I know about ajax cross-domain policy. So I can't just call "http://www.google.com" over a ajax HTTP request and display the results somewhere on my site. I tried it with dataType "jsonp", that actually would work, but I get a syntax error (obviously because the received data is not json formated) Is there any other possiblity to receive/display data from a foreign domain ? iFrames follow the same policy?     I have a login form for my website. This login form have two text fields, username and password. Currently I am placing labels(username, password) just before textfields. But now I want to removed these two labels and want to show text(username, password) inside textfield. When user focuses on these textfields then texts should be removed and user can enter his desired username and password. I have also noticed that when user open a login form then font color of text(username, password) populated in textfield(username, password) is of diffent color and when user start typing in that field then previous text is removed and new font color is black. How is it possible?

  • Flash causing jerky javascript animations

    Hi Guys, I'm developing a site which has a flash background playing a small video loop scaled to fill the whole background. Over the top I have a number of HTML elements which are animated using javascript. The problem I am having is that (predominantly in FF, but also in others to a lesser degree) the flash seems to be causing my javascript animations to run rather jerky, and in some cases missing the animation altogether and just jumping to the end state. Does anybody have any thoughts on how to make the 2 work together nicely? Many thanks Matt

    I am trying to make an ajax call to a php script. The php script calls an rss feed using curl, gets the data, and returns the data to the funciton. I keep getting an error "Warning: Wrong parameter count for curl_error() in" .... Here is my php code:1 $ch = curl_init() or die(curl_error()); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $feed); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $data1 = curl_exec($ch) or die(curl_error()); echo $data1; and the ajax call: $.ajax({ url: "getSingleFeed.php", type: "POST", data: "feedURL=" + window.feedURL, success: function(feed){ alert(feed); }}); I tested all the variables, they are being passed correctly, I can echo them out. But this line: $data1 = curl_exec($ch) or die(curl_error()); is what is giving me the error. I am doing the same thing with curl on other pages, just without ajax, and it is working fine. Is there anything special I need to do with ajax to do this?

    I'm curious to if it would be valuable, I'd like to start using QUnit, but I really don't know where to get started. Actually I'm not going to lie, I'm new to testing in general, not just with JS. I'm hoping to get some tips to how I would start using unit testing with an app that already has a large amount of JavaScript (ok so about 500 lines, not huge, be enough to make me wonder if I have regression that goes unnoticed). How would you recommend getting started and Where would I write my tests? (for example its rails app, where is a logical place to have my JS tests, it would be cool if they could go in the /test directory but it's outside the public directory and thus not possible... err is it?)

    O, so i have a 'live search' ajax search, which currently runs an sql search (via ajax) on each key up. What i would prefer is to: run an sql search after a key has not been pressed for say 800 milliseconds . So i want to have a timer that is started on key up, if the timer reaches 800ms then the ajax is called, if a new keyup event occurs the timer is restarted how would i do this?
