Is it advisable to implement url routing for an asp.net(webforms) website which is one year old... What are the factors to be considered before implementing....
I have a jQueryUI dialog with some textboxes, plus a button. Right now, the asp:Button tag used to generate the button automatically sets its type as type="submit". The structure of the dialog is such that pressing enter at any of the textboxes should not call the button click event. It seems like the cleanest way to solve the problem, if it is doable, is to manually set the button's type to something other than submit. Is there a way to do this?
Hi everybody,
I need to write an ASP.NET application which must handle a very large number of transactions per second - as many as 5000 users may transact at the same time. I think I will use WCF in back to communicate with SQL server. But in front, can IIS handle 5000 users at the same time effectively, or is there any simple way to host my application outside of IIS?
I have an input textbox on an asp.net page and when a user inputs any tags like break tags or bold an error occurs. I currently am using the following to encode the input:
Server.HtmlEncode(mytextbox.Text)
However this only encodes characters when they aren't phrased as an html tag, like if the input is "<<<" is there a way for me to allow the user to put the tags in without it leading to a runtime error?
Thanks.

There is a lot of chatter about the improvements HTML5 is about to unleash on the web development world. How will this new standard affect web dev frameworks like Faces, Struts, or even ASP.NET? How long will it take them to 'catch up' in order to emit such code? Will controls get deprecated?

Is there a JQuery lightbox which works well with the ASP.NET ReportViewer?

I looking for free ASP.NET based content management system (CMS) which has the following features:
Blogs (Admin, some super users can have their own blogs)
Forums (Admins can create forums. Some moderation features)
Admin Dashboard
Integration with LinkedIn, Orkut and Facebook (native or through freely available add-ons)
Support for moderated user registration (moderated by Admin)
Windows Sharepoint services 3.0 is an option. With some tweaking, it supports all the above and there are free third party web parts available.
NB: The CMS listed must be free, as in beer.
Do we know the algorithm that asp.net uses to create the authentication cookie (when using forms authentication?)
Can we basically create our own copy implementation? if so, how?
What does it use to generate the encrypted cookie value, I know it uses whatever you pass into the SetAuthCookie call (which is usually the userID/username).

I need to return a JSON encoded response to a flash http get request.
In ASP.NET, I do this with a ASHX handler.
What's the PHP equivalent ?
I mean in order that I only get JSON back, and not the <html> etc.
How do you determine the process identity for ASP.NET? I am getting an UnAthorizedAccessExeption when a user clicks a LinkButton designed to use System.IO to delete a file located in a subfolder of the root folder for a Web Application Project in Visual Studio 2008.
I need to encrypt and decrypt a querystring in ASP.NET.
The querystring might look something like this:
http://www.mysite.com/report.aspx?id=12345&year=2008
How do I go about encrypting the entire querystring so that it looks something like the following?
http://www.mysite.com/report.aspx?crypt=asldjfaf32as98df8a
And then, of course, how to I decrypt it? What's the best encryption to use for something like this? TripleDES?
Hi there,
I'd like to move publicly accessible files .css, images into my ASP.NET MVC Views folder. Since the Views has a web.config denies all requests, what exactly do I need to do to achieve this, so .aspx, .ascx are still protected while .css, images are accessible. Could someone show in detail please.
Thank you,
Ray.
