• How can I use this downloaded Class(es) on my Prototype Routine?

  I'm a newbie and I'm in need of some help. I'm working on a prototype for an app, but I'm learning at the same time. I want to display a popup image over a given UIView, but I would like it to behave like the UIAlertView or like the Facebook Connect for iPhone modal popup window, in that it has a bouncy, rubbber-band-like animation to it. I was able to find the following class(es) on the net, from someone who was trying to do something similar. He/she put this together, but there was no Demo, no instructions nor a way to contact them. Being that I am so new, I don't have any idea as to how to incorporate this into my code. • iPhone: Speeding up a search that's polling 17,000 Core Data objects

  I have a class that conforms to UISearchDisplayDelegate and contains a UISearchBar. This view is responsible for allowing the user to poll a store of about 17,000 objects that are currently managed by Core Data. Everytime the user types in a character, I created an instance of a SearchOperation (subclasses NSOperation) that queries Core Data to find results that might match the search. The code in the search controller looks something like: - (void)filterContentForSearchText:(NSString*)searchText scope:(NSString*)scope { // Update the filtered array based on the search text and scope in a secondary thread if ([searchText length] < 3) { [filteredList removeAllObjects]; // First clear the filtered array. SearchOperation is a subclass of NSOperation. It's slow. Even though I have the search happening in a separate thread other than the UI thread, querying 17,000 objects is clearly not optimal. If I'm not careful, crashes can happen. I set the max concurrent searches in my NSOperationQueue to 1 to avoid this. What else can I do to make this search faster? I think preloading all 17,000 objects into memory might be risky. There has to be a smarter way to conduct this search to give results back to the user faster.

  Hallo, i have a txt file which contains many chinese characters, and the txt file is in the directory res/raw/test.txt. I want to read the file but somehow i can't make the chinese characters displayed correctly. • How to remove some of the TimeSeries titles in a AChartEngine Time Series View

  As a workaround of not being able to change colors of selected points in a series on an AChartEngine Time Chart, I was using an additional series for each point whose color has to be changed. I need to disable series titles for those additional series. Using empty string as the argument to the Time Series construtor: TimeSeries ts = TimeSeries(""); still results in the line-and-point symbol being placed with empty series title string under the X-axis labels for each such series. It would be a desirable feature for AChartEngine to remove both the line-and-point symbol and the series title string for a series created with a null argument to the TimeSeries construtor call: TimeSeries ts = TimeSeries(null); But this currently resulted in nullPointerException instead. Would the AChartEngine developers consider the above suggestion and until then, is there a way to remove some of the TimeSeries titles from a AChartEngine Time Series View? Best regards.

It seems easier to pass around the string and convert into the native form I need, than dealing with json as I don't need to change anything once it is generated.   I have the following script which I use to give me a simple "diff" between tables on two different databases. (Note: In reality my comparison is on a lot more than just an ID) SELECT MyTableA.MyId, MyTableB.MyId FROM MyDataBaseA..MyTable MyTableA FULL OUTER JOIN MyDataBaseB..MyTable MyTableB ON MyTableA.MyId = MyTableB.MyId WHERE MyTableA.MyId IS NULL OR MyTableB.MyId IS NULL I now need to run this script on two databases that exist on different servers. At the moment my solution is to backup the database from one server, restore it to the other and then run the script. I'm pretty sure this is possible, however, is this likely to be a can of worms? This is a very rare task I need to perform and if it involves a large number of DB setting changes then I will probably stick to my backup method.

Can anyone suggest how I do this? Or do I need to specify the types I want to allow somewhere and switch on the property's type to see if it's allowed? That's a little messy, so it'd be nice if I there was a tidier way.

In addition, both of these entities are defined classes (not the default NSManagedObject). Even if I add an NSLog() statement right after assigning the value, it is null. What is the proper way of setting my "name" property of EntityB when EntityB is a property of EntityA?

• Django foreign keys cascade deleting and "related_name" parameter (bug?)

As it seems to me, "clear()" method works fine and saves the instance of "deassociated" object. But then, while deleting, django uses another memorized copy of this very object and since it's still associated with object we are trying to delete - whooooosh! ...bye-bye to relatives :) Database was arcitectured before me, and in somewhat odd way, so I can't escape these "related_names" in reasonable amount of time. Anybody heard about workaround for such a trouble?

• What can be done to speed up synchronous WCF calls?

  My performance measurements of synchronous WCF calls from within a Silverlight application showed I can make 7 calls/s on a localhost connection, which is very slow. Can this be speeded up, or is this normal?   I have the following Access query I'm running through OLE DB in .NET: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblRegion.Region There are 431 records within tblClient that have RegionCode set to NULL. For some reason, the query above returns all these 431 records instead of the first 25. If I change the query to ORDER BY tblClient.Client (the name of the client) like so: SELECT TOP 25 tblClient.ClientCode, tblRegion.Region FROM (tblClient LEFT OUTER JOIN tblRegion ON tblClient.RegionCode = tblRegion.RegionCode) ORDER BY tblClient.Client I get the expected result set of 25 records, showing a mixture of region names and NULL values. Why is it that ordering by a field retrieved through a LEFT OUTER JOIN will the TOP clause not work?
