  • R: How to separate character output in a loop?

    - by John
I'm blanking on the best way to paste a list of strings together to go into an SQL statement... I'm having trouble with the separator bar | printing at the beginning when I don't want it to: foo = "blah" paste_all_together = NULL for (n in 1:4) { paste_together = paste(foo ,sep = "") paste_all_together = paste(paste_all_together, paste_together, sep = "|") } > paste_all_together [1] "|blah|blah|blah|blah" I just want it to print out "blah|blah|blah|blah". Do I need a nested loop, or is there a better itterator in R for doing this? Or perhaps a better way to input SQL statements?

  • How do I log the raw HTTP headers with a PHP script?

    - by php
I'm using a cURL script to send POST data through a proxy to a script and I want to see what raw HTTP headers the cURL script is sending. List of things I've tried: echo curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HEADER_OUT) gives no output. file_get_contents('php://input') gets some HTTP headers but not all. print_r($_SERVER) also gets some HTTP headers but not all (I know this because there should be a X-Forwarded-For header and there isn't) Printing all superglobals ($_POST, $_GET, $_REQUEST, $_FILES etc) still doesn't show the raw HTTP headers. http_get_request_headers(), apache_request_headers(), $http_response_header, $HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA aren't outputting everything. Help?

  • Issue using Python to solve the Coin problem [closed]

    - by challarao
I'm attempting to solve a problem commonly known as the Coin problem, but using McNuggets. McNuggets come in boxes containing either 6, 9, or 20 nuggets. I want to write a python script that uses Diophantine equations to determine if a given number of McNuggets n can be exactly purchased in these groupings. For example: 26 McNuggets -- Possible: 1 6-pack, 0 9-packs, 1 20-pack 27 McNuggets -- Possible: 0 6-packs, 3 9-packs, 0 20-packs 28 McNuggets -- Not possible This is my current attempt at writing the solution in Python, but the output is incorrect and I'm not sure what's wrong. n=input("Enter the no.of McNuggets:") a,b,c=0,0,0 count=0 for a in range(n): if 6*a+9*b+20*c==n: count=count+1 break else: for b in range(n): if 6*a+9*b+20*c==n: count=count+1 break else: for c in range(n): if 6*a+9*b+20*c==n: count=count+1 break if count>0: print "It is possible to buy exactly",n,"packs of McNuggetss",a,b,c else: print "It is not possible to buy"

  • How do I prevent a pair of XMLEvent[Reader|Writer] from splitting empty tags into start+end tags?

    - by java.is.for.desktop
Hello, everyone! I have an understanding problem of how the following code works: XMLInputFactory xif = XMLInputFactory.newFactory(); XMLOutputFactory xof = XMLOutputFactory.newFactory(); XMLEventReader reader = xif.createXMLEventReader(/* ... */); XMLEventWriter writer = xof.createXMLEventWriter(/* ... */); writer.add(reader); The method writer.add([some reader]) reads all events from reader and writes them consequently. Sadly, following happens: The input <root><c/></root> gets transformed to <root><c><c/></root> I know, from XML point of view, these are equal trees, but not for a human ;) What can I do to get the same output? FYI: I need a XMLEvent[Reader|Writer] pair later to filter "XML events".

  • how do I check if a c++ string is an int?

    - by user342231
    when I use getline, I would input a bunch of strings or numbers, but I only want the while loop to output the "word" if it is not a number. so is there any way to check if "word" is a number or not, I know I could use atoi() for c-strings but how about for strings of the string class int main () { stringstream ss (stringstream::in | stringstream::out); string word; string str; getline(cin,str); ss<<str; while(ss>>word) { //if( ) cout<<word<<endl; } }

  • DataSet binding problem

    - by Shaine
I've got in-memory dataset with some table defined and I populate this table in a following way: for(...) ds.Fields.AddFieldsRow(++j, 0, heading, "Char", "", "", "Input", 0, "","",""); On the GUI I've got DataGridView bound to that table inside TabControl (bound through BindingSource). Very strange thing is happening: if I open tab pane with this grid and populate table with some data then I see changes in grid. On the other side if I'm at other tab, populate table, and then switch to tab with grid I've got following exception: "DataMember property 'Fields' cannot be found on the DataSource". In similar way I've got 2 tab panes with grid in each that are bound to the same datatable using different datasources and I open one of them, populate, see the changes, then switch to second tab and get crash. What am I missing?

  • What features do you expect from a Java (Rich) Client Framework?

    - by Peter Walser
I'm intending to design (and provide a reference implementation for) a new Swing Rich Client Framework. My job and personal experience covers many project-specific Swing client frameworks as well as the Eclipse RCP, and every one of them had some original and clever concepts, but also drawbacks and rigid realizations. My plan is to incorporate the best of those concepts and features into a new framework whose core is very open and extendable. For my must-have-features list, I'm counting on your input and hope you can share some concept pearls & diamonds you've encountered in other frameworks, or features you always wanted to have or have in a better way. The framework is intended for very simple to very complex and sophisticated projects for clients that need full i18n for richt clients that execute some or all of the non-presentation logic on the server to be very lightweight to be easy to learn and use Thanks in advance for sharing your insights :)

  • Ruby on Rails: Best way to save search queries in a database

    - by Adam Templeton
For a RoR app I'm helping develop, I need to save all search queries in a database so I can analyze them later. My plan right now is to create a Result model and table, and just save each search query's text in that table, along with a user's ID, the time, etc. However, the app has about 15,000 users, so I'm afraid the single table approach won't be super efficient when it comes time to parse that data. (The database is setup via MySQL, if that factors in at all.) Am I just being paranoid? Is there a Ruby gem that handles this sort of thing, or a better approach I could take? Any input would be appreciated.

  • controling a float value with javascript

    - by kawtousse
Hi, to control my input type and verify that its value is pretty a float in my form i deal with it in javascript like that: function verifierNombre () { var champ=document.getElementById("nperformed"); var str = champ.value; if(str.value==' '){champ.focus();} if (isNaN(str)) { alert("Invalid Valid! the field must be a number"); champ.focus(); return false; } return true; } but it still false because it doesn't accept really floats. so when entering a value like '11,2' the alert is declenched. I want to know how can I control float values with javascript. thanks.

  • Is there an off the shelf CMS that can be used as a back end for smartphone travel guide apps?

    - by eamonncarey
I'm wondering if there's an off the shelf CMS available that is similar to something like Mobile Roadie - ie: it will allow you to create multiple versions of one application? I'm looking to develop some mobile travel guides for iPhone/Android/Blackberry etc, and rather than get a CMS built, I'd like to see if there's something out there is similar to Wordpress in that it will allow us to input text, images, Google Maps details, phone numbers, email addresses and potentially some audio/video content. If anyone knows of anything, I'd love to hear about it. Also, if you have any ideas regarding pricing, that would be extremely helpful! Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  • Compiler: Translation to assembly

    - by sub
I've written an interpreter for my experimental language and know I want to move on and write a small compiler for it. It will probably take the source, go through the same steps as the interpreter (tokenizer, parser) and then translate the source to assembly. Now my questions: Can I expect that every command in my language can be 1:1 translated to a bunch of assembly instructions? What I mean is if I will have to completely throw over the whole input program or if it is just translated to assembly per line. Which assembler should I use as output format?

  • How do I pass in config info to CKEditor using the jQuery adapter?

    - by alex
I'm using the latest CKeditor with jQuery adapter. I have successfully got it to work, and display. However, as I am completely new to CKeditor, how do I pass in config variables using the jQuery method? This is what I've got $( '#input-content' ).ckeditor('', { toolbar: 'basic' }); I think from what I've read, the first argument is meant to be a callback, and the 2nd the config. But doing this has not changed the editor at all. How do I use these config properties etc using the jQuery adapter? Thanks

  • Converting time period strings to value/unit pair

    - by randomtoor
I need to parse the contents of a string that represents a time period. The format of the string is value/unit, e.g.: 1s, 60min, 24h. I would separate the actual value (an int) and unit (a str) to separated variables. At the moment I do it like this: def validate_time(time): binsize = time.strip() unit = re.sub('[0-9]','',binsize) if unit not in ['s','m','min','h','l']: print "Error: unit {0} is not valid".format(unit) sys.exit(2) tmp = re.sub('[^0-9]','',binsize) try: value = int(tmp) except ValueError: print "Error: {0} is not valid".format(time) sys.exit(2) return value, unit However, it is not ideal as things like 1m0 are also (wrongly) validated (value=10,unit=m). What is the best way to validate/parse this input?

  • Detecting crosses in an image

    - by MrOrdinaire
I am working on a program to detect the tips of a probing device and analyze the color change during probing. The input/output mechanisms are more or less in place. What I need now is the actual meat of the thing: detecting the tips. In the images below, the tips are at the center of the crosses. I thought of applying BFS to the images after some threshold'ing but was then stuck and didn't know how to proceed. I then turned to OpenCV after reading that it offers feature detection in images. However, I am overwhelmed by the vast amount of concepts and techniques utilized here and again, clueless about how to proceed. Am I looking at it the right way? Can you give me some pointers? • Dynamic SQL queries in code possible?

    - by SeanD
Instead of hard coding sql queries like Select * from users where user_id =220202 can these be made dynamic like Select * from $users where $user_id = $input. Reason i ask is when changes are needed to table/column names i can just update it in one place and don't have to ask developers to go line by line to find all references to update. It is very time consuming. And I do not like the idea of exposing database stuff in the code. My major concern is load time. Like with dynamic pages, the database has to fetch the page content, same way if queries are dynamic first system has to lookup the references then execute the queries, so does it impact load times? I am using codeignitor PHP. If it it possible then the next question is where to store all the references? In the app, in a file, in the DB, and how?

  • Generate a valid array key from an URL string in PHP

    - by John Riche
I have a PHP array with some predefined values: $aArray = array( 0 => 'value0', 1 => 'value1' ); I need to create a function where the string input will always return the same, valid, array key so that when I call: GiveMeAKey('http://www.google.com'); // May return 0 or 1 I receive always the same key (I don't care which one) from the array. Obvisously I can't store the relationship in a database and the string passed to the GiveMeAKey method can be any URL. I wonder if there is a way of doing that ?
