    Hi, What is the difference between PrintStream and PrintWriter? They have much methods in common. I always mix up this classes because of that reason.     I currently have a working, simple language implemented in Java using ANTLR. What I want to do is embed it in plain text, in a similar fashion to PHP. For example: Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet <% print('consectetur adipiscing elit'); %> Phasellus volutpat dignissim sapien. I anticipate that the resulting token stream would look something like: CDATA OPEN PRINT OPAREN APOS STRINGAPOS CPARENT SEMI CLOSE CDATA How can I achieve this, or is there a better way?

  • Are there localization tools which spot content strings in xaml/wpf?

    When globalizing a wpf application with static resx classes, it's very easy to miss the odd label or button that has its Content property set to a hard coded string in a particular language, ie English. These should of course be moved off to a {x:Static ...} so they can be localised for each culture. Are there any tools which can spot this and warn you? Built in to VS would be ideal, but I'm thinking that 'style cop' type build tools would do the job as well.

    It's common in C++ to name member variables with some kind of prefix to denote the fact that they're member variables, rather than local variables or parameters. If you've come from an MFC background, you'll probably use "m_foo". I've also seen "myFoo" occasionally. C# (or possibly just .NET) seems to recommend using just an underscore, as in "_foo". Is this allowed by the C++ standard?

  • How to exclude the title from theme applied to the application?

    I'm using a theme for my app to set some common layout features. One of the things I change in this theme is the text style. I change the color of text in the whole app to a certain color etc. Sadly the color of the title is also changed and the result is a somewhat blurry ugly style. Is it possible to somehow overwrite the style for the title in the theme? Or exclude the title?

  • Exceptions not being caught

    We have following code: try { // some code throwing MyException } catch (MyException ex) { // [1] // no (re)throw here } catch (Exception ex) { if (ex is MyException) { // [2] } } If we run the code without a debugger attached, everything runs fine. However, IF we debug the code, we don't get to point [1] but [2]. As far as I understand the language specification this should not be possible. Even weirder, this code used run fine even while debugging. The strange behavior started only a few days ago.

    I know C and C++ and I have some experience with Java, but I don't know too much about Algorithms and Data Structures. I did a search on Amazon, but I don't know what book should I choose. I don't want a book which put its basis only on the theoretic part; I want the practical part too (probably more than the theoretical one :) ). I don't want the code to be implemented in a certain language, but if is in Java, probably I would happier. :)

    With jquery it's very easy to insert some element inside another element using the selector technology, I am wondering if there is any python library that can do things similar with jquery, the reason is I want server side python program to produce the static pages, which needs to parse the html and insert something into it. Or other alternative, not in python language at all? I'm asking this question since in AutoIt v3 (interpreted language) it was brought up that having variables with short names like aa instead of veryLongVariableName is much much faster (when program is bigger then 5 liner).     Why did they never let us do this sort of thing: Create Proc RunParameterisedSelect @tableName varchar(100), @columnName varchar(100), @value varchar(100) as select * from @tableName where @columnName = @value You can use @value as a parameter, obviously, and you can achieve the whole thing with dynamic SQL, but creating it is invariably a pain. So why didn't they make it part of the language in some way, rather than forcing you to EXEC(@sql)?

    For a little while now javascript has the "map" function to loop over arrays. It appears possible to use it as a 'foreach' operator for example: var arr = ['a','b','c'] var doubles = arr.map(function(val){ return val + val }) Is this better or worse than saying for(var i in arr){ ... 50/50: saves having to use the index but adds a callback; it doesn't seem very common so I hesitate to use it but still want to.
