  • Whats the best way to send multiple variables in a query string within a URL

    - by Andy
    I have a client who is wanting to create a link which contains product codes so that his customers hit a page with just those products displayed in an attempt to increase conversion rates from affilliate sites. My question is whats the best way to send these multiple products in a single URL For example: http://www.mydomain.co.uk/bespoke-list.php?catNo=234-324-232-343 Obviously then the site would grab the codes from the string and display them... We're going to be using PHP! Thanks in advance.

    - by helpmarnie

  • dirname(__FILE__) VS setting global variable to directories

    - by SAFAD
    what are the pros and cons of using this : $globals['server_url'] = dirname(__FILE__); $globals['mainfiles'] = dirname(__FILE__).'/main'; and the pros and cons of using this : $globals['server_url'] = '/srv/www/htdocs/somwhere/'; $globals['mainfiles'] = '/srv/www/htdocs/somwhere/main'; And what do you suggest. by the way: these are set in config.php file which is called by other files as well, to stop directory conflicts when including files we use it like this : require_once($globals['server_url'].'/test.php');

  • How to prevent hotlinking of flv files?

    - by Sarah
    How to, using PHP and/or .htaccess prevent hotlinking? There's a site, which is allowed to access the flv files located on my server, however I've noticed that there are many requests from other domains as well... Here's the actual rule: RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://alloweddomain.com/.*$ [NC] RewriteRule .flv denied.php [NC,L] It's working OK except for Firefox, because FF is not sending referrer info when accessing .flv files...

  • can some one give me a sample gzip code for htaccess?

    - by Haroldo
    I'm keen to get started experimenting with gzip, but like i used to find php.net when i first started learning php, the apache documentation confuses me a bit. http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_deflate.html I'd really appreciate a sample htaccess file to have a look at if anyone's got one? Also are there things which should be changed in the htconf file instead of htaccess if I'm enabling gzipping server-wide? Sorry i'm a newb with apache!

  • How can you access two identically-named columns in a MySQL LEFT JOIN query?

    - by George Edison
    I have two tables. table_x: id INT(11) tag INT(11) table_tags: id INT(11) name VARCHAR(255) Then I use PHP to perform the following query: SELECT * FROM table_x LEFT JOIN table_tags ON table_x.tag = table_tags.id The only problem is: how do I access table_x.id and table_tags.id in the results? Here is the PHP code: $query = "SELECT * FROM table_x LEFT JOIN table_tags ON table_x.tag = table_tags.id"; $results = mysql_query($query); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($results)) { // how do I now access table_x.id and table_tags.id ??? }

  • Ajax call not working...

    - by Probocop
    Hi, I have a form that submits to a PHP script with Jquery and Ajax. The PHP script returns some XML. For some reason the Ajax success function is not firing, and the error ones is. Can anybody see where I'm going wrong? My Jquery is as follows $('#submit-excuse').submit(function (event) { event.preventDefault(); ws_url = 'http://jacamo.epiphanydev2.co.uk/content/inc/excuse-submit.php?excuse='+$('input#excuse').val(); $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: ws_url, dataType: "xml", beforeSend: function() { $('p#response').text('Sending.'); }, success: function(xmlIn) { results = xmlIn.getElementsByTagName("ReportID"); }, error: function() { $('p#response').text('Error.'); } }); }); And my PHP script is as follows: $excuse = $_GET['excuse']; $badwords = array ( 'one', 'two', 'three', 'four', 'five' ); if ($excuse == '') { $error = 'enter something'; } else { foreach ($badwords as $word) { $pos = strpos($excuse, $word); if($pos !== false) { $passed = false; } } if ($passed !== false) { $username = 'xxxxx'; $password = 'xxxxx'; $message = $excuse; $url = 'http://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml'; $curl_handle = curl_init(); curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_URL, "$url"); curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, 2); curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_POST, 1); curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "status=$message"); curl_setopt($curl_handle, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "$username:$password"); $buffer = curl_exec($curl_handle); curl_close($curl_handle); $passed = 'yes'; } echo "<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>\n"; echo "\t<result>\n"; echo "\t\t<passed>" . $passed .
