  • Three20 - SIGABRT on setting TTTableLongTextItem to TTStyledText

    - by gavinblair
My code is as follows TTTableLongTextItem *descItem = [[TTTableLongTextItem alloc] autorelease]; TTStyledText *styledDesc = [[TTStyledText alloc] autorelease]; styledDesc = [TTStyledText textWithURLs:@"howdy http://www.google.com"]; //this line causes the SIGABRT: descItem.text = styledDesc; //I also get a warning on this line that says "warning: passing argument 1 of 'setText:' from distinct Objective-C type" What am I missing here? Any help is muchly appreciated - Three20 documentation is a little sparse!

  • How to temporarily change all default user settings without destroying the original?

    - by mystify
My app is based strongly on a lot of NSUserDefault keys and values. I want to implement a temporary defaults profile which the user can activate to get a special task done easily. For this, some of the user defaults must be changed temporarily so the app adjusts it's interface appropriately. I started to just manually change those NSUserDefaults settings, but this also destroys the user's original settings. Is it possible to keep a backup of the user's NSUserDefault settings and restore them after the user quits the temporary mode or the app? Like I see it, NSUserDefaults actually is just an NSMutableDictionary which is generated out of a plist file. So I would just make a deep copy of that and later assign that copy somehow back to NSUserDefaults?

  • MKMapView maptype not changing!

    - by TheLearner
    I cannot understand why my MKMapView does not want to change to satellite view. This method is called and case 1 is called I have stepped over it but it simply does not change to satellite type it always changes to standard. It only works when it goes back to Map type. Anyone have any ideas? - (IBAction)mapSatelliteSegmentControlTapped:(UISegmentedControl *)sender { switch (sender.selectedSegmentIndex) { case 1: //Satellite self.mapView.mapType = MKMapTypeSatellite; default: //Map self.mapView.mapType = MKMapTypeStandard; } }

  • How to force a textField to become editable?

    - by Tzur Gazit
I have a custom tableViewCell with a UITextLabel inside it. When the cell is first displayed, the place holder is shown and then disappears when the user types something in. What I want is to go back to the parent view, and then to the sub view again, and that the field will show the text that the user previously typed. If I set the text field, simply with setText, the textField is not editable. Any idea?

  • Does NSClassFromString affect performance?

    - by Tomen
I want to create a controller that depends on the class of a given instance of a model -(BaseController *)getControllerForModel:(Model *)model { BaseController *controller = nil; Class controllerClass = [BaseController class]; //the default value //find the right controller if ([model isMemberOfClass:[ModelClass1 class]]) controllerClass = [ConcreteController1 class]; else if ([model isMemberOfClass:[ModelClass2 class]]) controllerClass = [ConcreteController2 class]; else if ([model isMemberOfClass:[ModelClass3 class]]) controllerClass = [ConcreteController3 class]; ... else if ([model isMemberOfClass:[ModelClassX class]]) controllerClass = [ConcreteControllerX class]; else Trace(TRACELEVEL_WARNING, @"Unrecognized model type: %@", NSStringFromClass([model class])); //Now instantiate it with the model controller = [[[controllerClass alloc] initWithModel:model] autorelease]; return slotController; } I want to find a more flexible solution to this and thought of having a dictionary, which maps Model-Classes to Controller-Classes and then NSClassFromString could give me the right instance. My question is this: Is NSClassFromString using much of my applications performance if i use it several times (say, 100 times at once)? Or would it be about as fast as the above approach?

  • I could not understand where the memory is leaking in my code ?

    - by srikanth rongali
I have the following code. I do not understand the problem in it. Whenever I include this class in my class the code is going to infinite loop. I could not get where I am wrong. please help me. Just point the errors in the code. #import "readFileData.h" #import "DuelScreen.h" @implementation readFileData @synthesize enemyDescription, numberOfEnemies, numberOfValues; @synthesize enemyIndex, numberOfEnemyGunDrawImages, numberOfEnemyGunFireImages, numberOfEnemyDieImages; @synthesize countDownSpeed, enemyGunDrawInterval, enemyGunFire, enemyRefire; @synthesize enemyAccuracyProbability, enemyGunCoordinateX, enemyGunCoordinateY; -(id)init { if( (self = [super init]) ) { NSArray *paths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); NSString *documentsDirectory = [paths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *path = [documentsDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"enemyDetals.txt"]; NSString *contentsOfFile = [[NSString alloc ]initWithContentsOfFile:path]; NSArray *lines = [contentsOfFile componentsSeparatedByString:@"#"]; numberOfEnemies = [lines count]; int nEnemy; nEnemy = 0; NSArray *eachEnemy=[[lines objectAtIndex:nEnemy] componentsSeparatedByString:@"^"]; DuelScreen *enemyNumber1 = [[DuelScreen alloc] init]; NSLog(@"tempCount value in: readFile: %d", enemyNumber1.tempCount); enemyIndex = enemyNumber1.tempCount - 1; countDownSpeed = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:0]intValue]; enemyGunDrawInterval = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:1]floatValue]; enemyGunFire = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:2]floatValue]; enemyAccuracyProbability = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:3]floatValue]; enemyRefire = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:4]floatValue]; numberOfEnemyGunDrawImages = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:5]intValue]; numberOfEnemyGunFireImages = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:6]intValue]; numberOfEnemyDieImages = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:7]intValue]; enemyGunCoordinateX = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:8]floatValue]; enemyGunCoordinateY = [[eachEnemy objectAtIndex:9]floatValue]; enemyDescription = [eachEnemy objectAtIndex:10]; } return self; } @end

    Hey everyone I made a UITableView in my app and when a cell is touched it expands the problem I am having is it does not collapse no matter what I have tried, I'm sure its something easy i just cant figure it out the only time it does collapse is when it another cell is tapped. Here is my code: -(void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { selectedCellIndexPath = indexPath; [tableView reloadRowsAtIndexPaths:[NSArray arrayWithObject:indexPath] withRowAnimation:UITableViewRowAnimationNone]; if (selectedCellIndexPath) { selected = YES; } } -(CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { if(selectedCellIndexPath != nil && [selectedCellIndexPath compare:indexPath] == NSOrderedSame) return 150; return 44; }

  • Android/ iOS how to determine small changes in distance using sensors?

    - by Tom
I have been doing a bit of research, but I cannot seem to find a way to determine small distances (centimeters and meters) using the sensors in Android or iOS devices. Bluetooth appears too inaccurate and require more than one device, GPS only works over larger variations in distance, and small variations in rotation seem to make using the accelerometer nearly impossible. Is there a method that I am unaware of that would allow me to do such a thing? I am familiar with Calculus, so using Integrals to determine distance based on changes in time and velocity/ acceleration is not a problem for me, I just do not know how to determine those things. Thank you.

  • How to find out if a method exists in Obj-C when given an NSString

    - by Justin
I have a method as an NSString *. If it exists, I want to call it, and if not, do nothing. SEL eventSelector = NSSelectorFromString(eventSelectorStr); if ([delegate respondsToSelector:eventSelector]) { [delegate performSelector:eventSelector]; [delegate adapterDidFinishAdRequest:self]; } else { // Does not implement selector } This code does not work, since NSSelectorFromString will register the string as a selector, so respondsToSelector:eventSelector will cause a crash because the selector is actually invalid.

I'm trying to follow the TableView programming guide, and I'm copying the code directly from the guide, but I get "SimpleEditableListAppDelegate undeclared" when I try to compile. Google returns nothing but the programming guide. What's SimpleEditableListAppDelegate, and how do I use it?

  • Clear button at uisearchbar not working at all

    - by kevin.ng
I created a search bar programmatically and added to my view using the codes below: - (void)viewDidLoad { searchBar = [[UISearchBar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(xPositionForSearchBar, yPositionForSearchBar, widthForSearchBar, heightForSearchBar)]; UIView *bg = [[searchBar subviews] objectAtIndex:0]; searchBar.delegate = self; searchBar.placeholder = @"Search record"; for(UIView *view in searchBar.subviews){ if([view isKindOfClass:[UITextField class]]){ UITextField *tf = (UITextField *)view; tf.delegate = self; break; } } [bg removeFromSuperview]; [self.view addSubview: searchBar]; } The code is implemented with UISearchBarDelegate and UITextFieldDelegate. I have tried using - (void)searchBarCancelButtonClicked:(UISearchBar *)aSearchBar { NSLog(@"cancel clicked"); searchBar.text = @""; [aSearchBar resignFirstResponder]; } - (BOOL)textFieldShouldClear:(UITextField *)textField { NSLog(@"clear"); [self performSelector:@selector(searchBarCancelButtonClicked:) withObject:searchBar afterDelay: 0.1]; return YES; } and yet, the text inside the searchBar is not cleared at all when i click on the "clear button" - a circle with a "X" inside. The clear button works when I implemented it in IB. Wonder why? Kindly advice, many thanks.

  • Big time Leaking in Objective-C Category

    - by Daniel Amitay
I created a custom NSString Category which lets me find all strings between two other strings. I'm now running into the problem of finding that there are a lot of kBs leaking from my script. Please see code below: #import "MyStringBetween.h" @implementation NSString (MyStringBetween) -(NSArray *)mystringBetween:(NSString *)aString and:(NSString *)bString; { NSAutoreleasePool *autoreleasepool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSArray *firstlist = [self componentsSeparatedByString:bString]; NSMutableArray *finalArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; for (int y = 0; y < firstlist.count - 1 ; y++) { NSString *firstObject = [firstlist objectAtIndex:y]; NSMutableArray *secondlist = [firstObject componentsSeparatedByString:aString]; if(secondlist.count > 1){ [finalArray addObject:[secondlist objectAtIndex:secondlist.count - 1]]; } } [autoreleasepool release]; return finalArray; } @end I admit that I'm not super good at releasing objects, but I had believed that the NSAutoreleasePool handled things for me. The line that is leaking: NSMutableArray *secondlist = [firstObject componentsSeparatedByString:aString]; Manually releasing secondlist raises an exception. Thanks in advance!

  • pass string or data of local file between viewcontrollers

    - by Jonathan
In my last question i asked how to best send a string from one view controller to another, both which were on a navigation stack: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2898860/pass-string-from-tableviewcontroller-to-viewcontroller-in-navigation-stack However I just realised I can either pass the path to the file in the app's document's folder as the first (the table view) has already accessed the data in the file should I pass viewcontroller the data to the pushed VC?

  • UIButton setBackgroundImage consumes doesn't release memory?

    - by just_another_coder
My UIButton has it's background image set like this: [myImageButton setBackgroundImage:[UIImage imageNamed:myImageName] forState:UIControlStateNormal]; myImageButton is a retained property of the class, and is setup with IB. No where else is it accessed in the app. myImageName is simply an NSString with a filename like @"myImage_number_1.png" I am loading large images, 1024 x 1024 in size. When the view is shown, it changes the image with the above statement, then available memory decreases. After I see the view about 7-9 different times, the app crashes with a memory warning. I thought the method would free up the loaded image. The view itself is only instantiated and allocated one time, so it's not in the retain/release cycle if the view controller. Is there something about this setBackgroundImage I don't know that causes it to not release memory?

  • UITableView: Highlighted cell after switching back views

    - by Matthias
Hi, I'm using a UINavController together with some UITableViews to display a kind of drill down for some data (e.g. like the Contact App). Works well. The only problem I have is, when I select a cell in the first table view it is highlighted, then the view switches to the next level and then, if I go back to the first level, the cell is still highlighted. So, how can I reset the highlighting when switching back? Thanks for your help. Regards Matthias

  • adding a UIScrollView as a superview of 2 UITextview

    - by Risma
hi i have 2 textview in a viewcontroller. the 1st textview is not editable, but the 2nd is editable. i want to make both of them scroll in the same position and size when the keyboard is appear. I think i have to use UIScrollView as base of both of textview. And then i add the UIScrollView in xib (bot of textview are made in xib too). and this is the picture if this hierarchy : in the viewDidLoad method, i add this code : - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [scrollTextView addSubview:lineNumberTextView]; [scrollTextView addSubview:_codeTextView]; [lineNumberTextView bringSubviewToFront:scrollTextView]; [_codeTextView bringSubviewToFront:scrollTextView]; } but when i tap on the 2nd textview, the keyboard is not appear. What i have to do? thx for the advices

  • Custom inputAccessoryView push my UITableView first row partially off the screen

    - by TonyMocha
Hi For my scenario, I have a UITableView with a UITextField for the first row. While I try to set custom toolbar for keyboard with UITextField.inputAccessoryView, it pushed my first row of textfield partially off the screen. This is not happening if I avoid adding the toolbar. Refer screen shot below: I tried with NSNotification with keyboardWillShow by reposition to first row of the tableview, but it just look awkward for the table pulling out and in. It might be something to do overriding UITableView/UIScrollView, but I am out of idea how to do this. Would like to know how you guys resolve this. Thanks you!

  • Implement delegates for Core Data or not

    - by Spanky
What advantage is there to implementing the four delegate methods: (void)controllerWillChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeSection:(id )sectionInfo atIndex:(NSUInteger)sectionIndex forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type (void)controller:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller didChangeObject:(id)anObject atIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath forChangeType:(NSFetchedResultsChangeType)type newIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)newIndexPath (void)controllerDidChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller rather than implement: (void)controllerDidChangeContent:(NSFetchedResultsController *)controller Any help appreciated // :)
