  • Displaying a notification when bluetooth is disconnected - Android

    I am trying to create a program that will display a notification to the user if a Blue tooth device suddenly comes out of range from my Android device. I currently have the following code but no notification is displayed. I was wondering if it was possible I shouldn't use ACTION_ACL_DISCONNECTED because I believe the bluetooth stack would be expecting packets that state a disconnect is requested. My requirements state that the bluetooth device will disconnect without warning. Thank you for any assistance!   • Executing logic before save or validation with EF Code-First Models

    I'm still getting accustomed to EF Code First, having spent years working with the Ruby ORM, ActiveRecord. ActiveRecord used to have all sorts of callbacks like before_validation and before_save, where it was possible to modify the object before it would be sent off to the data layer. I am wondering if there is an equivalent technique in EF Code First object modeling. I know how to set object members at the time of instantiation, of course, (to set default values and so forth) but sometimes you need to intervene at different moments in the object lifecycle. To use a slightly contrived example, say I have a join table linking Authors and Plays, represented with a corresponding Authoring object: public class Authoring { public int ID { get; set; } [Required] public int Position { get; set; } [Required] public virtual Play Play { get; set; } [Required] public virtual Author Author { get; set; } } where Position represents a zero-indexed ordering of the Authors associated to a given Play. (You might have a single "South Pacific" Play with two authors: a "Rodgers" author with a Position 0 and a "Hammerstein" author with a Position 1.) Let's say I wanted to create a method that, before saving away an Authoring record, it checked to see if there were any existing authors for the Play to which it was associated. If no, it set the Position to 0. If yes, it would find set the Position of the highest value associated with that Play and increment by one. Where would I implement such logic within an EF code first model layer? And, in other cases, what if I wanted to massage data in code before it is checked for validation errors? Basically, I'm looking for an equivalent to the Rails lifecycle hooks mentioned above, or some way to fake it at least. :)

    I'm using paperclip to upload a pdf. Once the file is uploaded I need to split every page into a png. This is the command I think I need to use convert -size 640x300 fileName.pdf slide.png Now if I run that command from terminal it works fine, but I need a way of getting each slides name so I can add it into a model. What's the best way to achieve this?

  • are fixtures loaded when using the sql dump to create a test database

    Because of some non standard table creation options I am forced to use the sql dump instead of the standard schema.rb (i.e. I have uncommented this line in the environment.rb config.active_record.schema_format = :sql). I have noticed that when I use the sql dump that my fixtures do not seem to be loaded into the database. Some data is loaded into it but, I am not sure where it is coming from. Is this normal? and if it is normal can anybody tell me where this other data is coming from?

  • Hibernate criteria with projection not performing query for @OneToMany mapping

    I have a domain object, Expense, that has a field called initialFields. It's annotated as so: @OneToMany(fetch = FetchType.EAGER, cascade = { CascadeType.ALL }, orphanRemoval = true) @JoinTable(blah blah) private final List<Field> initialFields; Now I'm trying to use Projections in order to only pull certain fields for performance reasons, but when doing so the initialFields field is always null. It's the only OneToMany field and the only field I am trying to retrieve with the projection that is behaving this way. If I use a regular HQL query initialFields is populated appropriately, but of course I can't limit the fields. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

  • How to use R's ellipsis feature when writing your own function?

    The R language has a nifty feature for defining functions that can take a variable number of arguments. For example, the function data.frame takes any number of arguments, and each argument becomes the data for a column in the resulting data table. Example usage: > data.frame(letters=c("a", "b", "c"), numbers=c(1,2,3), notes=c("do", "re", "mi")) letters numbers notes 1 a 1 do 2 b 2 re 3 c 3 mi The function's signature includes an ellipsis, like this: function (..., row.names = NULL, check.rows = FALSE, check.names = TRUE, stringsAsFactors = default.stringsAsFactors()) { [FUNCTION DEFINITION HERE] } I would like to write a function that does something similar, taking multiple values and consolidating them into a single return value (as well as doing some other processing). In order to do this, I need to figure out how to "unpack" the ... from the function's arguments within the function. I don't know how to do this. The relevant line in the function definition of data.frame is object <- as.list(substitute(list(...)))[-1L], which I can't make any sense of. So how can I convert the ellipsis from the function's signature into, for example, a list? I want to confirm that they have chosen the right teams, then check if the email in the session and the email confirmation text match. If they do match Then i want to submit the form. If they dont match, I want to alert the user they dont match, and just return to page so user can check emails and then resubmit. This script is in my header. EDIT: Haha sorry i submitted one before and it didnt go through, forgot to add my problem!! When you click the button it comes up with the confirmation, clicking either yes or no doesnt do anything. The alert doesnt pop up if they dont match and if they do match it doesnt submit. Also it might be good to note I had it without the email confirmation if statement and it worked fine (going to the submit page)

  • Google App Engine - Document Editor Creation/Tap Into Google Docs?

    What is the best way to create a custom document editor in GAE? I'm making a website meant for a School Robotics Club (With support for any other organization - DRY). We currently use Google services for online collaboration, I'm wondering if there is a way to tap into Google Docs and allow users to edit a Google Document without using Google Accounts or the Google Doc interface. If that is not possible (I've researched and I don't think it is), what is the best way to make a document editor? I want it completely on the website I'm creating, so I'm assuming just some javascript editor like TinyMCE + Ajax + Datastore. Is their anything that replicates Google Doc's/Microsoft Offices's/OpenOffice.org's feature set as far as fonts, spacing, alignment, justification, etc.?

For example, I keep all curly braces on the same lines as their declaring class, method, etc, but when generating a controller, it completely disregards my settings. Is there a setting someplace to force the same code generation as other parts of project?

  • Help: My SSL Certificate expired but I can't renew it until Monday, is there any way I can disable SSL through IIS?

    Or perhaps force redirect to HTTP when they request HTTPS? I tried removing the SSL port settings under 'Advanced' but it broke the login page. I don't want to do a deploy/recompile right now but I am able to edit the VIEWS. However I am thinking there may be a way for IIS to do this, but then again I think the .NET code tries to force SSL. And yes, the key is that more support tickets will be caused by the browser giving a security error than if SSL was removed entirely for one day. Becaues they wouldn't very very likely not notice it being gone.

  • Trying to calculate large numbers in Python with gmpy. Python keeps crashing?

    I was recommended to use gmpy to assist with calculating large numbers efficiently. Before I was just using python and my script ran for a day or two and then ran out of memory (not sure how that happened because my program's memory usage should basically be constant throughout.. maybe a memory leak?) Anyways, I keep getting this weird error after running my program for a couple seconds: mp_allocate< 545275904->545275904 > Fatal Python error: mp_allocate failure This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. Also, python crashes and Windows 7 gives me the generic python.exe has stopped working dialog. This wasn't happening with using standard python integers. Now that I switch to gmpy I am getting this error just seconds in to running my script. I thought gmpy was specialized in dealing with large number arithmetic? For reference, here is a sample program that produces the error: import gmpy2 p = gmpy2.xmpz(3000000000) s = gmpy2.xmpz(2) M = s**p for x in range(p): s = (s * s) % M I have 10 gigs of RAM and without gmpy this script ran for days without running out of memory (still not sure how that happened considering s never really gets larger.. Anyone have any ideas? EDIT: Forgot to mention I am using Python 3.2

    I'm using MapKit in an iPad app with the Base SDK set to iOS 4.2 in Xcode 3.2.5. When I run the app in the iPad Simulator 4.2, the app works fine. When I run it in the iPad Simulator 3.2, it crashes on startup with the following error: ERROR: unable to load AX Bundle: /Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator3.2.sdk/System/Library/AccessibilityBundles/MapKitFramework.axbundle What am I doing wrong?

Now it forces me to update (which is absolutely ridiculous), half the time the update doesn't go smoothly, and it is increasingly hindering my productivity with each update.   • Combined sign in and registration page?

    This is somewhat against rails convention but I am trying to have one controller that manages both user session authentication and user registration. I am having troubles figuring out how to go about this. So far I am merging the User Controller and the Sessions Controller and having the 'new' method deliver both a new usersession and a new user instance. With the new routes in rails 3 though, I am having trouble figuring out how to generate forms for these items. Now I need to retrieve data from the ListView control in order to delete a booking in my database. I used the following code to retrieve the content of each column: ManageList.SelectedItems(0).Text But it only seems to work on index 0. If I do: ManageList.SelectedItems(3).Text I get this error: InvalidArgument=Value of '3' is not valid for 'index'. Parameter name: index I'm pretty much stumped, it seems logical to me that index 1 will point to the 2nd column, index 2 to the 3rd etc, as it's 0 based? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  • DNS Lookup in simple C#/asp.net ajax call is extremely slow

    I'm running this out of the VS 2008 debugger on Windows 7, running .Net 3.5. The idea was to make all ajax requests with jQuery only, rather than .net, following some tutorials online. Default.aspx - HTML page, jquery triggers method in Default.aspx.cs http://pastebin.com/pxBvKA2H Default.aspx.cs - C# Webform, just defines a GetDate fuction, which only returns a string for now (trying to eliminate any possible issues) (can only post one hyperlink...) pastebin.com/pnHn50hu The ajax query takes longer than it should. Profiling with firebug revealed that it took 1.03 ms. 1s DNS Lookup | 26ms Waiting | 1ms Receiving EDIT: It continues to take the same set of times if you continue to click and resubmit the request. Is there anything I can do to cut down on the DNS Lookup time / what did I do wrong? Thanks for any help.

  • Wampserver Error

    Ok http://localhost/ won't load now. Recently I installed skype and am aware of the skype port conflict error. I have removed 'use port 80 and 443 as alternatives for incoming connections' from options and still no luck. I have also uninstalled skype, reinstalled it and restarted my machine several times to no avail. Also, I just tried to run my torrent client and I am getting an error for the first time. Any ideas? many thanks

    When I run my Win32 project in the Visual Studio debugger, I get this huge screed of output about which DLLs were loaded, first-chance exceptions, and so on. Is there a way that I can suppress this output? Some day, I might want to know when 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll' was loaded, but normally I don't care. This is especially true when I'm running unit tests, and just want to be told whether any of the tests failed. This stuff isn't output with console applications, but it is with windows applications. To give an example of what I mean, here are the first lines from the output of a recent unit-test run. 'MyProject.exe': Loaded 'C:\dev\MyProject\Testing\MyProject.exe', Symbols loaded.
