I have one file with some language array(language/langen.php): global $lang; $lang['Here'] = 'Here'; $lang['Date'] = "Date"; In other file I have: include base_url().'language/lang'.$_COOKIE['lang'].'.php'; var_dump($lang); *(My mistake by coping code - true is var_dump($lang))* But it shows me an error: A PHP Error was encountered Severity: Notice Message: Undefined variable: lang How to solve this problem and what did I do wrong?

• plot only x and y axis (no box) in ggplot2

  The convention of some journals is to show only the x and y axis in a plot not a box around the entire plot area. How can I achieve this in ggplot2?   I'm adopting Castle Windsor for my WCF project and feel really amazed about this. However, I'm having a scenario that I don't really know if Castle Windsor supports. For example I have the following chained Interceptors Interceptor 1 > Interceptor 2 > Interceptor 3 > Interceptor 4 > Real method Interceptor 1 returns some data and I want that to be available in Interceptor 2 Interceptor 2 in turn does it work and returns the data that I want to make avaialbe in the 3,4, interceptor. The real case scenario is that we're having a WCF service, Interceptor 1 will parse the request header into a Header object(username, password, etc.). The latter interceptors and real method will ultilize this Header object. I know that I can use Session variable to transport data, but is it a built-in, more elegant, more reliable way to handle this?

  I'm using zend framework. currently everytime I need to use the db I go ahead and connect to the DB: function connect(){ $connParams = array("host" => $host, "port" => $port, "username" => $username, "password" => $password, "dbname" => $dbname); $db = new Zend_Db_Adapter_Pdo_Mysql($connParams); return $db } so I would just call the connect() function everytime I need to use the db My question is...suppose I want to reuse $db everywhere in my site and only connect once in the very initial stage of the site load and then close the connection right before the site gets sent to the user, what would be the best practice to accomplish this? Which file in Zend should I save $db in, what method should I use to save it (global variable?), and which file should I do the connection closing in?

• Alternative to latex / a way to typeset good looking documents from Java to PDF

  I'm working on application in Java that will maintain database of song lyrics in plain text and print out some songbooks/chordbooks(that is create PDF file from selected songs). I was planing that the Java application will generate source code for pdflatex and after compiling this source user will get PDF file. Lately I've run into a lot of problems because of latex limitation: fixed memory size (some pictures will also be drawn to PDF) - error when exceeded, no way to query end of line or and of page dynamically, it's very hard to override latex placement algorithm in a complex way,... see also some my other questions regarding latex. I come to conclusion that latex is not good option for automated PDF generation. So I need replacement. I need to be able to typeset: Chords over lyrics when the lyrics are in variable char width so I need to be able to measure text width Chord diagrams that means I'll have to draw quite complex pictures Each song on separate double page Different fonts etc. Thanks for all answers

I've created an anonymous self-executing function and fed in the window object. Inside that I have another object with a method assigned to it. I then assign the global myVar variable to this obj.   In my Cocoa application, in the header file, I declare a NSString ivar: NSString *gSdkPath; Then, in awakeFromNib, I assign it to a value: gSdkPath = @"hello"; Later, it's value is changed in the code: gSdkPath = [NSString stringWithString:[folderNames objectAtIndex:0]]; (the object returned from objectAtIndex is an NSString) However, after this point, in another method when I try to NSLog() (or do anything with) the gSdkPath variable, the app crashes. I'm sure this has something to do with memory management, but I'm beginning with Cocoa and not sure exactly how this all works. Thanks for any help in advance.

• Either .each do or .all isn't working how I think it should

  So whenever someone rates a shop, I want the Shop model to calculate its new average rating and store that in the database (instead of calculating the average every time someone looks at it). So I wrote the segment of code that follows, and it doesn't work. The loop always iterates exactly once, no matter how many shop_ratings in the database exist that have the shop's id as their shop_id. I played around with it a bit and found that every time a new rating is submitted the function is called successfully, but it only runs the loop once and sets the average to what the first rating was. • Django template tag basic question

  It looks like this template tag works like a charm for most people: http://blog.localkinegrinds.com/2007/09/06/digg-style-pagination-in-django/ For some reason I get this error: Caught an exception while rendering: 'is_paginated' I use this template tag in my template like so: {% load digg_paginator %} {% digg_paginator %} Where digg_paginator.py is in my app/templatetags folder and the included template context digg_paginator.html is in my app/templates folder. The queryset that needs pagination is called 'destinations'. If i just specify {% digg_paginator %}, how does it know what variable to paginate?? I feel I am missing something important here or just plain stupid :P Someone please help, or explain to me how this should be done. Thanks

I don't know what's wrong because I'm just trying to assign a string variable to a string value. Anyone figures out the reason of the error? Please help and thanks.

  Using uCommerce 2, umbraco 4.7. I have a category side nav showing the categories using: <a> <xsl:attribute name="href"> <xsl:value-of select="CommerceLibrary:GetNiceUrlForCategory($catalogueName, @id)"/> </xsl:attribute> <xsl:value-of select="@displayName"/> </a> First of all, when hovering over the links it still shows an old catalogue name, even though I've renamed the catalogue and also hardcoded the catalogue name into: <xsl:variable name="catalogueName" select="'MyCatalogue'"/> When I click on the link generated by GetNiceUrlForCategory I get the standard template that comes with uCommerce started site. I've tried deleting the whole started site, but I just can't get it to link to a template I did for the category. I still don't quite understand how ucommerce knows which template to use for a category link. Soren? :) Cheers, Matt

  I have a form in which there are total eight fields, name, address, age and 5 other file/photo upload fields such that at a time one upload field is visible.. Now here every time I upload a file i need to fill the "name, address and age" as well. at this point I dont want to submit the form, but I just want to save these values in any variable and get back to same form with information of previous file ready to be submitted, now again user can upload new file with new values in... and so on... as user is done with the 5 files he should not be allowed to upload more but he should be allowed to submit all the 5 files to DB along with there supporting fields.. How should I proceed further ...?

SDI - Single document interface, each pane is its own window MDI - Multiple document interface, all of the panes are stuck inside one "master" window. Eclipse is an MDI application. All of the little panes (like the call stack, variable viewer, ect) are part of the one master Eclipse window. Rather than having all of the windows stuck inside one master "eclipse" window, I'd like them to all be their own free-floating windows.

• ODBC Storage Size

  I'm pulling a lot of text from a MS SQL Server database. I'm not getting all the text (which includes some html. The text is stored perfectly on the database. However, when I run the query to get the data It will only pull part of the text. I pull the data using odbc_exec and store using $variable = odbc_result($runquery,"body"). if i display the content with odbc_result_all($runquery) i get part of the content. if I use echo $body; i get part of the content then some garbage and part of the text from the begining. very strange response. Is there a size limit? Any ideas what I'm missing here?

  Hi all, I'm doing some calculations, and the results are being save in a file. I have to output very precise results, near the precision of the double variable, and I'm using the iomanip setprecision(int) for that. The problem is that I have to put the setprecision everywhere in the output, like that: func1() { cout<<setprecision(12)<<value; cout<<setprecision(10)<<value2; } func2() { cout<<setprecision(17)<<value4; cout<<setprecision(3)<<value42; } And that is very cumbersome. Is there a way to set more generally the cout fixed modifier? Thanks

  I am writing a piece of code in java that needs to take a time sent from a bash script and parse the time to milliseconds. When I check the millisecond conversion on the date everything is correct except for the month I have sent which is January instead of March. Here is the variable I create in the bash script, which later in the script I pass to the java program: TIME=`date +%m%d%Y_%H:%M:%S` Here is the java code which parses the time to milliseconds: String dt = "${scriptstart}"; java.text.SimpleDateFormat scriptStart = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("MMDDyyyy_HH:mm:ss"); long start = scriptStart.parse(dt).getTime(); The goal of this statement is to find the elapsed time between the start of the script and the current system time.   Hi I have managed to load an XDocument with xml data from this link http://go.yr.no/go/e/main/http://www.yr.no/place/Norway/Telemark/Sauherad/Gvarv/forecast.xml. I am using C# and .Net in Blend and producing a web app (ie some of the normal .Net functions is not included in the silverlight plugin). I have researched this a lot but can not figure out: how to put the "text" in the link node in a string variable and how to all put the "-11" from ? in a array and link it to the "time from"? • How would I create a VIM or Vi command to delete all text after a certain character for every line i

  Scenario: I have a text file that has pipe (as in the "|" character) delimited data. Each field of data in the pipe delimited fields can be of variable length, so counting characters won't work (or using some sort of substring function... if that even exists in VIM). Is it possible, using VIM / Vi to delete all data from the second pipe to the end of the line for the entire file? There are approx 150,000 lines, so doing this manually would only be appealing to a masochist... e.g. Change the following lines from: 1111|random sized text 12345|more random data la la la|1111|abcde 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk|la la la la|2222|defgh 3333|random sized text|more random data|33333|ijklmnop to: 1111|random sized text 12345 2222|random sized text abcdefghijk 3333|random sized text I'm sure this can be done somehow... I hope. TIA UPDATE: I should have mentioned that I'm running this on Windows XP, so I don't have access to some of the mentioned *nix commands (CUT is not recognized on Windows).
