  • Have you actually convinced anybody to Scala?

    I had limited success myself. I was able to hype a few persons about Scala. But in fact none of them made a meaningful effort to try to switch (usually from Java). I would like to read both success and failure stories here. Both long tries and short ones. My goal is to find ways of presenting Scala to another person, friend, co-worker (not an audience) that will make them want to use this great language.

    I have defined ! (factorial) function and registered it as arithmetic function and an operator, so that I can execute: A is 6!. Now I'd like to define !! (factorial of odd numbers), but the same way - writing clauses, registering arithmetic_function and operator, calling A is 7!! - results in SyntaxError: Operator expected How should I, if possible, register !! operator ? Yes, I realize, ! is normally the cut.

    I'm trying to select the order total sum ($) and invoice count over a 5 day period in a single query. I can't seem to get this to happen though. The current query I have is here... SELECT COUNT(id) as invoice_count, SUM(orderTotal) as orders_sum, UNIX_TIMESTAMP(created) as created FROM ids_invoice WHERE DATE_ADD(created, INTERVAL +1 DAY) AND userId = '.$userId.$whereSql I'm not entirely sure DATE_ADD is the right function I'm looking for I'm fairly new to mysql date functions so perhaps I just missed the function I needed when going through mysql docs.

  • onclose and onerror not getting called on DataChannel disconnect

    I have a wall application using WebRTC DataChannels. In the code I've managed to work out the connection, but I'm not getting notified when a peer disconnects. On the channels I have the following listeners: channels[uid].onerror = function( event ) { console.log( 'channels[uid].onerror', uid, arguments ) removePeer( uid ) } channels[uid].onclose = function() { console.log( 'channels[uid].onclose', uid, arguments ) removePeer( uid ) } When I reload tabs disconnecting peers, I don't get close messages. When I send to them, I don't get an error.

    I have created a function that has as input a char szMyChar; (using it in a switch statement). Now I have a CString havong just a char, lets say CString strString = "A"; An option to call the function could be: if (strString == "A") CallMyFunc('A'); though it is clumsy.   • Select options not showing in IE

    I have a dynamically generated select with some options and it shows the options fine in normal browsers, but its empty options in IE. Maybe you had some of you would've had a similar experience and could figure this one out. The weird thing is, if I alert the html of the option just after the getDiff() function, it shows the value filled out. And it I put the getDiff() function in the for loop where the options are generated, it fills the values and shows them in IE, just not the last one. I'm calling getDiff() outside the loop for optimization, and since I can add the values later after all the options are generated. Well at least I thought I could, since it works on Firefox and Chrome.

However, it doesn't appear to let me do this. It seems like it will allow me to define players if I make it a non-static member variable however.
