How to connect to a database (any natively supported by .NET) - SQL Server 2008 or Access - from a Windows Forms application written on VC++/CLI (compiler ver. 16.0 from .NET 4.0)
Has anybody done any benchmarking/evaluation of the popular open-source embedded SQL DBs for performance, particularly write performance? I've some 1:1 comparisons for sqlite, Firebird Embedded, Derby and HSQLDB (others I am missing?) but no across the board comparisons... Also, I'd be interested in the overall developer experience for any of these (for a Java app).
hi

Query:
Select * from pu_Products where Part_Number in ('031832','027861', '028020', '033378') and User_Id = 50 and Is_Deleted = 0
The above mentioned query is in SQL and i need the query might be converted into Linq. Is there any option using the "IN" operator in Linq?. can you convert above mentioned query into Linq?
Good Morning,
Say I have an insert statement:
Insert INTO tblTest (fieldOne,FieldTwo,fieldThree) VALUES ('valueOne','valueTwo','null')
This statement doesn't seem to want to insert a null value into the database... I have also tried to insert the word "nothing".
Has anyone any ideas how to make this work? I am using SQL server 2005.
I want to execute query in side the db.sql file using MySQL 5.1 in windows environment. Can any one help me to this. I want to do this by runing a bat file.
I've got quite a few SQL statements like such:
SELECT foo FROM things WHERE user_id IN (1,2,3..n)
Is there a known limit to the number of elements that will safely fit in an IN clause like that?
I'm reading a book about SQL.
In that book, I saw strange query below:
"SELECT * into mycustomer from customer WHERE 1=2"
In this query, what is "WHERE 1=2" ?
Thanks in advance.
Assuming you can't use Linq for whatever reason, is it a better practice to place your queries in stored procedures, or is it just as good a practice to execute ad hoc queries against the database (say, Sql Server for argument's sake)?
Please, could you answer my question.
How to remove digits from the end of the string using SQL?
For example, the string '2Ga4la2009' must be converted to 2Ga4la. The problem is that we can't trim them because we don't know how many digits are in the end of the string.
Best regards, Galina.
I am using c# with asp.net and SQL Server 2005 as backend. I want to use dropdown list control in a form to populate a textbox. The dropdown control is linked to a column in the database. How can I code this in c#?
In TOAD (for SQL or Oracle), there is a simple AUTOFORMAT button that will nicely format your query - I couldn't find that option in SSMS 2005, but was advised by a co-worker that it was available in SSMS 2008. I am unable to locate the option there either.
This is VERY helpful when pasting a query from another source.
Thanks for any assistance.
I have a java.sql.ResultSet object containg data from a query that was run.
How do I refresh the data in the ResultSet to reflect the current data in the database?
Thanks!

Is there a catchall function somewhere that works well for sanitizing user input for sql injection and XSS attacks, while still allowing certain types of html tags?
Hello all,
Is there an equivalent of MySQLs on update field for SQL server?
With both DEFAULT CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
and ON UPDATE CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
clauses, the column has the current
timestamp for its default value, and
is automatically updated.
What I am looking for is to have a date/time field and every time I update a record it updates the field with the date/time it was updated automatically?
If it doesn't exist, I guess I'll have to go manual.
Thanks all
